the offense is not going to score tons of runs
The Giants had no starting WR's and our D-Line was the greatest thing ever to, just sayin...
That is not really a fair comparison. I guess we will have to wait and see. But I do not see the once powerful Sox lineup being dangerous. Thank goodness for Sox mgt getting rid of Manny.</p>

Best thing we ever did was get rid of Manny. I never like to use the word, but he was truly a "cancer".</p>

Bay was fine while he was here but he was very inconsistent and frankly he didn't care enough about winning. He'll fit in fine with the Mets.</p>

So let me ask you. I bet you loved Manny when he was hitting the snot out of the ball for 7 seasons? He was the main cog that made that offense so dangerous. He made Ortiz better, and made the rest of the lineup better
Or......

Marco Scutaro is Bostons starting SS. Now that is amusinghow dare you sir!!! [:@] I know he is a former blue jay but he is average at best. Is baseball even on the radar in Canada? Or is it just 100% hockey?its on the radar aslong as we are winning, so i guess the answer is no lol</P>

anyways my boy Scooooot is a great defensive player (he's a human highlight reel) he brings an average bat but a* good obp.. very underrated imo. </P>

</P>

I would have preferred that we kept Gonzo.</P>

He'd have been a nice bit of power at the 9 spot.** Kind of like Butch Hobson.</P>

*</P>

No way alex gonzalez can be compared to Butch Hobson. Hobs had power, Gonzo can barely get 15 homeruns in hitter friendly fenway</P>

He's a perfect Fenway guy.* But alas....he's no longer with the team.</P>

The Sox FO has clearly made the decision to focus on defense.* The only real defensive weekness is at catcher.</P>

</P>

teams are gonna run all ova dat asssssss!

The Sox FO has clearly made the decision to have no desire to win. Their only real weakness is at anything involving bats and baseballs.</P>

The only strong part of the sox is starting pitching. But who knows if Lackey can play in Boston. Can Beckett be the dominant pitcher he can be. Can Lester play to his full potential. The pitching staff will have a lot of pressure to contain runs, for the offense is not going to score tons of runs</P>

Ellsbury, Pedroia, Yuke, Martinez, Pappy, Beltre, Drew, Cameron and Scutero is a very good lineup.</P>

Plus I suspect that Lowell will do some platooning with Pappy.</P>

I will give you Youk and V-Mart and Pedroia. Everyone else is questionable. Beltre can he stay healthy? Is Drew on the decline? Scutero might get you some key hits and some runs but nothing great from the end of your lineup. I would be surprised if Lowell can play a full season. His back is shot, and Pappi I do not see the 20+ homeruns from him. He is obviously on the decline. As for Ellsbury he will get you 50+ steals and a few homeruns that’s about it. He was benched for a good portion of last season. He is not a leadoff hitter even though he can run like the wind.</P>

Ellsbury was never benched last year.* He was moved down to the 9 spot for part of the year.* But was never benched.</P>

Played 153 games, hit .301 with 70 steals.* His challenge is being more patient at the plate.* He's a true star in the making.</P>

My mistake I thought he got benched for a few games. I don"t think he is a bad player at all, tons of speed and can cover tons of space in center

Please take note as to how well groomed my facial hair is, EVEN with the beard this halloween. It's called class sir, something nobody in boston knows the definition of.</P>

Your anger and resentment towards my beloved team and the great city of Boston, MA is clearly a result of envy and fear.</P>

He basically went a month without hitting a lick. He hits in the .260 range which is no good this day and age.</P>

I'll take that this year from Mike Cameron hitting in the 8 hole, but not a guy hitting cleanup.</P>

And to say that Bay was our best player again displays your lack of knowledge. At least about the Red Sox. The best player on our team was and is Yuke.</P>

dunno man. i dont remember if i was afreaid of clowns when i was little, but my parents know i hated them. when I was like 11 or 2, my parents had a clown at my little brother's bday party, and i remember he freaked me out, by like bending overto my height and leaning towardme to talk to me(Jpizzack wasnt always 6'2" of twisted steel and sex appeal), and I punched him in the jaw and kicked him in the nuts. i vaguely remember it, but my parents love to tell the story at family events &gt;.&lt;</P>

dunno man. i dont remember if i was afreaid of clowns when i was little, but my parents know i hated them. when I was like 11 or 2, my parents had a clown at my little brother's bday party, and i remember he freaked me out, by like bending over*to my height and leaning toward*me to talk to me(Jpizzack wasnt always 6'2" of twisted steel and sex appeal), and I punched him in the jaw and kicked him in the nuts. i vaguely remember it, but my parents love to tell the story at family events >.<</P>

Parents always know how to embarrass us lol I was never scared of clowns but the one clown that was creepy was the clown in poltergeist.

Not at all. Really good actually. Plus the Celts were in the game almost the whole time and then fell off a bit. Most in the NBA say Utah is the hardest place to play. Its gets so loud in there. You have to scream to talk to the person next to you.

I remember one of the Lakers games I was at Kobe got fouled with less than a second left. We were down 2 and he had to make 2 FT's to tie the game and go to OT. Of course he made them both and we won in OT but that was one of the loudest things I have ever heard while he was shooting.

Thanks for beating Dallas by the way...sorry about UConn.

Giants Draft Strategy.....Take A stud outside linebacker like Weatherspoon in the firs round, and with second rounder, either Spikes or Lee will be there. That would reall be a scarry defense. We all know the d line is stacked. Got Phillips and Rolle in the Secondary, with Ross, Webster, and Thomas. And a Super young, talented, poetentilal filled linbacking corps (dont forget Boley)!!!! really excited to see what the giants dofor real.

The University of Connecticut Women's Basketball team has won 72 games in a row. That's <font color="#0000ff">2,880</font> minutes of basketball, of which the Huskies have been trailing for <font color="#0000ff">96</font> minutes. Wait, how much of that time has been in the second half of those 72 games? 3 minutes, 37 seconds. Does any other team have a chance in this year's tournament?

AMAZING!!!

i think the mezz is better seats. Because from that angle if the play is on the other side of the field its better to be higher

I agree with MMB, I like the Mez seats the best...I've sat in good Endzone seats before, they aren't as good imho.

I mean 50 yard line front row are obviously the best but if it's between Endzone and Mez I'd take Mez even if they were the same price.

Blue Jays' pitchers are looking to improve despite loss of Roy Halladay (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/3353).
From a staff that ranked 10th in the American League in ERA and ninth
in starters' ERA, rookie general manager Alex Anthopoulos lopped
Halladay, his annual Cy Young candidacies, his automatic 16 wins, his
64-35 record in the AL East (18-6 against the Yankees (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/42), 20-4 against the Orioles (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/33))
and his dignified place in their clubhouse. What's left looks for the
moment like a last-place club. Marcum says his elbow is sound. The last
big league pitch he threw was 18 months ago. McGowan hopes he can be
ready on opening day, or at worst when the club needs a fifth starter
in mid-April. He hasn't pitched in 20 months.

Its really an interesting scenario. It favors the kicking team a bit in my opinion. If the rec. team kicks a FG, the other team has the advantage of knowing it has to go on 4th down until they get down the field in order to at least try a FG.</P>

Gotta LOVE HBO On Demand, I just watched the 1st 3 Episodes of 'The Wire' season 3 (The one about the Docks)
yea man ima start rewatching that ****. watched the pacific the other night. ****s pretty bad ***.
Ive heard nothing but rave reviews about 'The Pacific'

Edit: I wanna start re-watching 'The Shield'.... Thats gotta be one of the best shows EVER
</p>

Its been pretty darned good. There were a few scenes in eposide 1 that bothered me. I thought they went a bit "Platoon", but other than that its been very powerful.</p>i know what scene your talking about. i didnt like that at all either.

funny how the captain gave that whole speech before they were going to land. i thought to myself, wow this IS captain america, but he was freaking out in that fox hole at alligator creek. pretty sure i read the guy that was on the machine gun that night received the medal of honor.

With the release of Antonio Pierce and no obvious replacement on the
roster, it would seem as if middle linebacker is a logical position of
need for the Giants in next month's NFL (http://www.nypost.com/t/NFL) Draft. </p>

Not necessarily, according to GM Jerry Reese (http://www.nypost.com/t/Jerry_Reese). </p>

"Well, I think there's good players in the draft at that position, but
we think we have some players on our team," Reese said yesterday on
Sirius NFL Radio. "Last year everybody said, 'You need receivers, you
need receivers.' I said, 'We have some young receivers; let's see what
they can do.' " </p>

Reese proved to be correct in his assessment
of the Giants' young receivers. As far as middle-linebacker prospects,
Reese said, "We have Gerris Wilkinson (http://www.nypost.com/t/Gerris_Wilkinson), Clint Sintim (http://www.nypost.com/t/Clint_Sintim), Jon Goff, Bryan Kehl (http://www.nypost.com/t/Bryan_Kehl).
We have some guys on the roster right now we hope will step up. But
we'll continue to look for that position in free agency and the draft."
</p>

Reese also dismissed the unrest of defensive end Osi Umenyiora (http://www.nypost.com/t/Osi_Umenyiora)
-- who insists he can't return if he's not returned to the starting
lineup -- as "off-season chatter" and said he and Umenyiora have had
"some good conversations." </p>

As far as safety Kenny Phillips (http://www.nypost.com/t/Kenny_Phillips) -- who is coming back from serious knee surgery -- Reese said he is close to getting back onto the field. </p>

"He feels like he can start running right now," Reese said, "but we're
taking him slow. We don't want him to have any setbacks."</p><div id="TixyyLink" style="border: medium none ; overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;">

Goin to see Joe Mauer's billion dollar bat =P
My first game is basically always a twins game lol. Last year, Mauer and Morneau hit 3 HRs to my section in the right field mezzanine. pretty awesome.
We won the game anyway of course due to a Gardner in-the-park HR, and a walkoff in the 9th off nathan</P>

a slight drop like that at TE is totally ok considering Eli's improved long game, and the step up of our recievers without a "plax".
I welcome Boss with open arms. He's def. legit at TE, and easily one of the nicest guys on our team.

i agree

and as for blocking, not a tremendous difference at all..

That knock was okay at first but Boss has proven himself in that regard while maintaing about 1/10th of the salary that Shockey demands, is a better teammate, less of a headache, and dude can take a hit without breaking down for 5 weeks or the season..

and from what i hear, Boss lays off the blow and X, so thats a good thing too

Phil Hughes (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/7611)
may be the final answer to who will be the Yanks' fifth starter. No
matter the decision, it appears that Hughes remains the leading
candidate, despite allowing four runs and three home runs in 4 1/3
innings in a 9-7 loss to the Phillies (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/54) yesterday. Ben Francisco (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/7532)
homered on the first pitch Hughes threw, and the righty later allowed
an opposite-field homer to Dane Sardinha and the game-winning blast to Wilson Valdez (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/7321).

Phil Hughes has all the tools to be a good starter, I think it is time to put him in the starting rotation and put Joba in bull-pen for now on. No more moving him around from starter to bullpen. I would Like to see Joba take the closer spot when MO retires.

<font color="#0000ff"><font color="#000000">So much for the cash explosion that was supposed to benefit players. So

open the vaults, NFL owners, who gathered this week in Orlando for

bigblue4417

Donovan McNabb (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/591) may be on his way out of Philadelphia after all. The Eagles (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/21) have been receptive to trade offers of late. The Eagles (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/21) certainly aren't divulging their plans, but it's growing ever unlikely that they'll have McNabb, Kevin Kolb (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/7798), and Michael Vick (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/931)
by the time next month's draft is complete. Coach Andy Reid told me
yesterday that the team is entertaining offers for the quarterbacks,
and despite his assertions after the last season that McNabb would be
his guy going into the 2010 season, that doesn't appear to be a given
anymore.

Phil Hughes has all the tools to be a good starter, I think it is time to put him in the starting rotation and put Joba in bull-pen for now on. No more moving him around from starter to bullpen. I would Like to see Joba take the closer spot when MO retires.

so would I
</P>

yea i think a permanent bullpen spot will do him good.
harness his small repotoire of pitches 1 inning at a time until he's ready to close. You cant have a guy with 2 effective pitches going 6-7 innings. he can throw other ****, just...well, not good.</P>

Coach Andy Reid told me
yesterday that the team is entertaining offers for the quarterbacks,
and despite his assertions after the last season that McNabb would be
his guy going into the 2010 season, that doesn't appear to be a given
anymore.dumb move on their part....i like it

After watching last season, how can you think that Joba is still decent. He has stuff to be one of the best, and just inexplicably sucks.

when he was under an inning rule, he had a better ratio to the 7th than Hughes did.

This is what im saying, its fine u feel that way, but ur reasoning, examples, and facts aren't accurate. I say Hughes isn't proven, you throw the ONE good start he had the reason he is, but then ignor the other 5 games where he was embarressed.

Hughes had ONE good start oif 7 innings out of SIX

Joba had about 20 starts before that and 4 starts of 7 or more innings

the difference was the fact that Joba still had about 5-8 more quality starts with the rest of his games, while Hughes was embarressed in the rest of his 5 starts and never even made it to the 6 th inning.

You can say im like blowing joba or whatever, but all i'm doing is giving you facts.

If you think Hughes 6 starts last year, of one REALLY great start and then 5 other embarressments which none saw the 6th inning means hes proven, then god bless

Joba still had under a 4.8 ERA in the AL while being in top 30 in the AL in innings pitched

its not THAT bad...

Also out of all AL pitchers of 100 innings or more, he had the 42nd highest ERA... 14 teams in the AL..

aka that means he was either a #3 with the worst ERA on average in the AL or a #4 with the best ERA in the AL

the dates he had quality starts were: 4/12, 4/29, 5/10, 5/16, 6/1, 6/7, 6/18, 6/24, 7/19, 7/24, 7/29, 9/25
</p>

miscounted if thats the case, and i apologize. i will look again. Although it doesnt really matter...its still pretty bad for a starter lol</p>

matt youre just blindly loving this guy I think.
After watching last season, how can you think that Joba is still decent. He has stuff to be one of the best, and just inexplicably sucks.
Hughes HAS proven he is better. Even after they moved him back to the pen midseason, he was RIDICULOUS! he pitched a crazy amount of scoreless innings. I dont even remember how many

Just looked. He went from mid june till the end of July wthout giving up a run. and then went from the beg of august to the beg of september doing the same.</p>

what did Joba do other than have an ERA of almost 5? ALOT more starts, and only 1 more win than Hughes? This is all pretty clear to me.</p>

all I said was Hughes is unproven...</p>

and regardless of what u guys want to say about Joba, he had alot of quality starts last year

again, im not making facts up... the facts are in the numbers...
</p>

quality start requires you to go at least 6 innings with3 runs or less earned. </p>

I just counted his game log. 7 QS last year over 31 games started?</p>

no thx.</p>

now what do you have to say about my solid facts that I am not making up?</p>

cuz u just blatenetly lied lol

realistically tho pizz he had about 24 starts where he even would of had a chance to go 6 innings...

so 12/24 is 50% (give or take)

CC Sabathia is like 23 of 35 starts were quality... like a 65% of starts were quality

Jobas season really was underrated, he just had alot of hype and expectations

and listen....im not saying I dont like the guy...even if he does come from a family of inbreeding meth dealers.....</P>

but im not ready to see him more than 1 inning at a time. i mean theyve dabbled in it for TWO YEARS, and to what result? The yanks offense was SO POTENT last year, that their run support alone prevented Joba from recieving almost 20 losses. Thats just awful man.

The guy could easily turn around, and for the love of the Yanks, I sure hope he does cuz it'd be great to see. But NY cant deal with him in those doses again this year.</P>

</P>

You are living in a fantasy world Matt. The kid is a balls to the wall pitcher. He's a guy who goes all out for 3 outs. When they put him in the rotation he was forced to change his approach completely. Everything that made him special was taken away.</P>

Can he get it back? No one knows. But the mishandling of this kid by the Yankees is clear and indisputable. He was a force in the pen. He's mediocre at best as a starter.</P>

And forget that ERA nonsense. The kid threw way too many pitches to get outs and had trouble getting to the fifth inning in his starts.</P>

didnt joba do similar in the bullpen when he was in there?

I mean whats ur point on that. As a starter he hasn't proven ****.. i dont get what 1 inning agame will prove for everybody

**** dezzz's biggest knock was that Joba usually gave up 2 runs in the first inning every game, so we want him to go to the bullpen where he'll only pitch one inning... i just don't get how ur coming to ur conclusions...

By your standards Joba shoulda been lights out as a starter last year

so far so wrong

i've said from day one he should be the one to replace Mo if he doesn't turn out to be an Ace.
</p>

It appears that they have ruined him. He had the attitude of a closer and should have been settting up for Rivera until he retired.</p>

As a starter he has been fair to poor. Too many innings, too many bad starts, wrecking his mental approach.</p>

I always told you I liked the kid. Now they've ruined him.</p>hope your wrong mh

how do you ruin a pitcher by getting him experience? I dont get it?

The guy was a starter his whole life, hes thrown innings before. This is so blown up lol

I'm from the Nolan Ryan school of thought, throw away innings pitched and pitch counts and **** and let these guys throw like men
its not the innings, its the moving him back and forth from starter to pen.

and u do realize Hughes has been moved back and forth more than anyone...

with Joba it was reliever, starter, reliever

with hughes it was starter, reliever, starter, reliever, and now starter again
i dont think it was that many. they sent him down to triple A twice i believe.

and listen....im not saying I dont like the guy...even if he does come from a family of inbreeding meth dealers.....</p>

but im not ready to see him more than 1 inning at a time. i mean theyve dabbled in it for TWO YEARS, and to what result? The yanks offense was SO POTENT last year, that their run support alone prevented Joba from recieving almost 20 losses. Thats just awful man.

The guy could easily turn around, and for the love of the Yanks, I sure hope he does cuz it'd be great to see. But NY cant deal with him in those doses again this year.</p>

</p>

You are living in a fantasy world Matt. The kid is a balls to the wall pitcher. He's a guy who goes all out for 3 outs. When they put him in the rotation he was forced to change his approach completely. Everything that made him special was taken away.</p><font color="#0000ff">If you mean this just in the sense as a starter, okay i can buy that. But to say its taken away period and hes done now going back to the relief role is just ******ed</font>

</p>

Can he get it back? No one knows. But the mishandling of this kid by the Yankees is clear and indisputable. He was a force in the pen. He's mediocre at best as a starter.</p>

</p>

<font color="#0000ff">Then u'd agree that Hughes is mishandled too... seeing as how this is now the 5th time hes been moved</font>
</p>

And forget that ERA nonsense. The kid threw way too many pitches to get outs and had trouble getting to the fifth inning in his starts.</p>

<font color="#0000ff">had quality starts in half his true starts... any way u want to dice it he was still the best 4th starter in the AL. He did throw too many pitches i will give u that</font>

So much of pitching, especially power pitching is about confidence. The team put the kid in a position out of his comfort zone and set him up to fail. That failure has messed with his head. Why do you think it took his 20 pitches on average to get 3 outs? He was nibbling on the edges instead of going after hitters, like he did when he was in the pen.</P>

It happened to Clay Bucholtz as well, the kid threw a no-no and then they put him in the rotation before he was ready. It killed his confidence and its taken him 2 years to get back.</P>

the only time u could hurt somebody is moving them to starter from a relief role...

ur never gonna hurt somebody moving them from starter TO relief

especially a young arm
sure you can matt! thats outright ridiculous! maybe for older guys. hes used to going all out from the pen. if hes moved to the rotation he HAS to be conservative. NOT his strength/game.

I feel although I made a mistake bringing up the QS stat. It's misleading in both a positive and negative fashion.
On a positive note, it shows how effective a pitcher can be each game.</P>

On a negative note, its only per 6 innings where sometimes a SP can go 8 innings.
so the stat might not show how good/bad a pitcher has done each game. so it unfort. still leads to number crunching. I still feel its an important stat though.</P>
