LMAO, The Pirates.....Now Pitt is a city that could really care less about their baseball team. Hell I saw a few games there for under $10 and we got 2 sit behind home plate due to the fact there was about 1200 people there spread throughout the stadium.

BEAUTIFUL stadium with GREAT food, just a Garbage product on the field. How can they be good when they build up their best players and trade em away for more players to build from prospects

I have a thing about cheering for teams(outside my traditional fanhood) that are really bad....specifically in baseball....and basketball to an extent when i watched it more often
at one point in middle school/high school, I had a fitted for almost every single baseball team, excluding division rivals(pfffft!)
My faves were my Mariners hat when they first changed the log in the early 90s, astros(new style) and an Indians hat when they first went with the script "I"....I bought it cuz it looks like a J....for my name lol...
Same reason I bought the Pirates hat..."P" for my last name lol

like I said.....collector thing I guess.
I cant do that with football though.....I only own Giants swag...lots of it...

Word, Im that way when it comes to Basketball. My Knicks have been a shell of themselves since we did Ewing dirty, so now I root for individual players. So I could see myself rocking a Pierce or Anthony bball jersey

From ESPN Page 2:

We also got votes for "Worst Rivalry," in which the Cleveland Browns
were frequently mentioned. We also had a convincing vote for the
Globetrotters vs. the Generals. But the most biting came from Adam A.
of Salt Lake City, who called the worst rivalry his "Remote vs. the
WNBA." Said Adam: "The undefeated record of my remote control in this
rivalry makes the Globetrotters vs. Generals look evenly matched."

So my cousin bought a few packs of basketball cards in the fall at the beginning of the NBA season. He was looking to possibly pull some rookie cards. He didnt get any RCs, but he did get a card that said it entitled him to a Rajon Rondo autographed card onc they were all signed, and he was to send it in to upper deck to claim the auto.
So he just got a letter in the mail stating "player refused to sign autographs" and that they are going to try to comp him something of equal value. lol

Isn't severance usually one lump sum? Or is it really up to the companies?
When I worked for circuit city earlier in the decade, during the first corporate layoffs(when they axed like 30,000 of us), they gave me a HUGE check based off my average hourly income( i was commission-only) and my tenure.
Lando, you can get unemployment right?(granted, the $ amount usually sucks, but whatever lol....</P>

ahhh so maybe it was just because I didnt necessarily get paychecks? Since I paid myself, not the company? The whole commission thing screwed me on unemployment too! I only ended up getting a much smaller percentage of my average pay. So you max at like $400 a week on unemploymentin NYS, but I only ended up getting like $180 or something ridiculous, despite the fact that I made closer to $700 a week....stupid commission!! lol</P>

NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=nyk) might want the Yankees (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/clubhouse?team=nyy) to help recruiting LeBron James (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=1966), but Derek Jeter (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=3246) doesn't see the point.</p>

"It wouldn't make sense," the Yankees captain told ESPNNewYork.com.</p>

Knicks
president Donnie Walsh wants as many New Yorkers as possible to help
convince James to choose Madison Square Garden when NBA free agency
opens July 1. James is a Yankees fan, and has a special pair of
Yankee-styled Nikes.</p>

"If there's Yankees that want to help us, we would involve them," Walsh told the New York Post on Sunday.</p>

James' good friend Jay-Z echoed Jeter's sentiment on recruitment.</p>

"That's his decision," the hip-hop mogul and part owner of the New Jersey Nets (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=njn) said in a Rolling Stone interview. </p>

"We're
friends -- we've still gotta hang out! I don't want to convince
somebody to do something, then have to see him and say, 'Uh, yeah,
we're 4-30 ... sorry.'"</p>

CC Sabathia (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=4553) is also friends with James, but admitted he didn't know what he'd say to persuade James to pick New York.</p>

"You don't have to sell winning in New York," Jeter said.</p>

When
it was pointed out to Jeter that since he has won in New York, James
could find out about how special it is, Jeter still didn't budge.</p>

Jeter
hypothetically compared it to if he were going to be recruited by one
of the Los Angeles teams and Magic Johnson called him.</p>

"If I were
going to another baseball team, how would a basketball player help?"
Jeter said. "I don't play basketball. I have nothing to do with that."</p>

Unaware of Walsh's comments at the time he spoke about James, Jeter said he doubted the Knicks would ask him. </p>

"I don't see how it would work," he said. "It is completely different."</p>

Jeter, who was a standout basketball player in high school, knows James a little.</p>

"He's
a nice guy," Jeter said. "He's a big Yankee fan so I've gotten to meet
him. I probably think of him as a player like everyone thinks of him as
a player -- he can do anything."</p>

also if we are doing something annual with about the same group of people im going ot look into getting a little plaque made for the champ... just to make it that much more fun... donations/plaque/cash. cant beat that [;)] we have at least 2.5 months so we have time to discuss but never to soon to start brainstorming

The United States Bowling Congress says a central Pennsylvania man has
set a national record with 47 consecutive strikes.
Tommy Gollick scored a 279 on his first league game May 11 at Red Crown
Bowling Center in Harrisburg. Gollick then rolled perfect 300s on his
next three games, breaking the previous record of<font color="#0000ff"> 40 consecutive strikes</font>
set by a Washington woman (http://www.wjactv.com/sports/23816673/detail.html?cxntlid=cmg_cntnt_rss#) in 1986.

that's pretty insane, I've never thrown more then 20 strikes in a row, I've thrown like 32 strikes out of 36 attempts but 40 in a row...47 in a row? craziness.

hey boys.. im hereeeeeeeee!!
great on the FF interest additions. i vote for keeping yahoo as well.. i really like it and its easy to nagavate plus i got the commish applications under control now so.. lets plan to stick to yahoo. last year we did a $20 league.. with your input of course im thinking we up to atleast $30 maybe even $50... its not THAT much more and you have 3 months to save........ THOUGHTS?!

as far as players...people who will return from last year get first dibs.. after that lawl and appletree can be offered spots and also i know shep wanted in last year but it filled up too quickly so we can offer him as well... shockey show and ny06 might also have intrest. if we have enough we can also create 2 leagues and i can run them both one we can keep at $20 or even free if you guys want the other we will do a higher payout.. the only thing this year i will not be leanent with is the money- im not spending weeks chasing people down this year... once we decide on a draft day if your money is not in you are not fielding a team.. bottom line.

me
mmb
lando
pizz
dezz
bandy
pappy
pats
byron
daven
shocknawe
kase.

those are the originals from last year... everyone that is NOT participating let me know asap so we can fill your spot.... or we just do two leagues like i suggested. let me know tho..

any questions PM me cause its easier to keep track this way i dont miss your post OR email my home email.. i created new one not along ago and actually check this one somewhat often so that works just as good as a PM. email is nygiantsblondie@yahoo

hey boys.. im hereeeeeeeee!! great on the FF interest additions. i vote for keeping yahoo as well.. i really like it and its easy to nagavate plus i got the commish applications under control now so.. lets plan to stick to yahoo. last year we did a $20 league.. with your input of course im thinking we up to atleast $30 maybe even $50... its not THAT much more and you have 3 months to save........ THOUGHTS?! as far as players...people who will return from last year get first dibs.. after that lawl and appletree can be offered spots and also i know shep wanted in last year but it filled up too quickly so we can offer him as well... shockey show and ny06 might also have intrest. if we have enough we can also create 2 leagues and i can run them both one we can keep at $20 or even free if you guys want the other we will do a higher payout.. the only thing this year i will not be leanent with is the money- im not spending weeks chasing people down this year... once we decide on a draft day if your money is not in you are not fielding a team.. bottom line. me mmb lando pizz dezz bandy pappy pats byron daven shocknawe kase. those are the originals from last year... everyone that is NOT participating let me know asap so we can fill your spot.... or we just do two leagues like i suggested. let me know tho.. any questions PM me cause its easier to keep track this way i dont miss your post OR email my home email.. i created new one not along ago and actually check this one somewhat often so that works just as good as a PM. email is nygiantsblondie@yahoo [:)] Im IN. The HOF has been a collection place for the mediocre. Its a joke. Isaac Bruce isn't a HOF'er if Cris Carter isn't.</p>

i agree Chris Carter should be.. the wait they put on Art Monk was brutal

but honestly i'd put Bruce in over Carter

Bruce: 223 games, 15208 yards, 1024 receptions, 91 TDs

Carter: 234 Games, 13899 yards, 1101 receptions, 130 TDs
</p>

Art Monk has no business being in the HOF. I watched his entire career and NO ONE feared him on the field. All he was was a stat accumulator.</p>

Solid player but not close to a HOF'er.</p>

</p>

I would consider Bruce a borderline HOF'r. Which means he probably isn't. He always reminded me of Ike Curtis of the Bengals. And he's not a HOF'r.</p>

better lifetime numbers except TDs in almost a full season less than Carter..

Carter will be in this next ballot, Bruce will be first ballot

The United States Bowling Congress says a central Pennsylvania man has
set a national record with 47 consecutive strikes.
Tommy Gollick scored a 279 on his first league game May 11 at Red Crown
Bowling Center in Harrisburg. Gollick then rolled perfect 300s on his
next three games, breaking the previous record of<font color="#0000ff"> 40 consecutive strikes</font>
set by a Washington woman (http://www.wjactv.com/sports/23816673/detail.html?cxntlid=cmg_cntnt_rss#) in 1986.

that's pretty insane, I've never thrown more then 20 strikes in a row, I've thrown like 32 strikes out of 36 attempts but 40 in a row...47 in a row? craziness.

It is almost unbelievable...

#1) I don't think we need to split the league up, I'd love to play in a 14-16 person league with this crowd, it's one thing with random people, but everyone here knows their football, no reason not to have a deep league.

#2) I really loath Yahoo, it's the worst site ever for FF, Espn is much better and I hope we use it, the only reason we went with Yahoo last year was MMB's hissy fit.

#3) I'm fine with 30 or 50 bucks, but I'd rather meet up somewhere instead of mailing it if possible, maybe like a FF draft party or something, I hate sending it through the mail.

Not really. The changes in the game have given huge advantages to the running game as well. Just not as much as the passing game. Plus, the games had far fewer playes in the past due to the greater number of running plays.</P>

Its actually a tough thing to accurately guage. You really have to compare a player to his contemporaries. Was Isaac Bruce on of the elite players in the game? Maybe. But I just didn't see "special" in his game. But thats just me.</P>

#3) I'm fine with 30 or 50 bucks, but I'd rather meet up somewhere instead of mailing it if possible, maybe like a FF draft party or something, I hate sending it through the mail.

well i dont care either way this year i lost my insider like a week after lol...

but if i had to vote i'd say yahoo...

so far that vote is Me, Blondie, Moorehead for yahoo

Daven n Pizz for ESPN

HOFer??? i think so.

definitly

5th all time in receptions, 2nd in yards, 9th in TDs
<font size="5">
thats first ballot type stuff</font>

https://reg.dojiggy.com/images/uploads/153/crisCarter.jpg

Bruce: 223 games, 15208 yards, 1024 receptions, 91 TDs

Carter: 234 Games, 13899 yards, 1101 receptions, 130 TDs

who had the more impressive career?
</p>

I think Cris Carter was a truly great player. Unbelievable hands and scored a lot of TD's. To me, he's a no brainer. Bruce isn't the kind of all time great Carter was. But he was a very, very good player.</p>

And don't bore me with stats. Thats never been what NFL greatness is about.</p>

numbers don't tell the whole, but u can't ignore somebody who is top 10 of everything all time and who has more yards in almost a full season less than the guy ur blowing

</p>

I agree, but QB's and WR's in the last 30 years or so are going to have much better #'s due to the rule changes. And this isn't me being "all old". Its the objective truth regarding the rules changes. The defense just sin't allowed to play the same way they used to.</p>

Trust me on this, Paul Warfield was twice the WR that Isaac Bruce was.</p>

okay thats fine but then you have to flip that as well..

if your going to consider the passing game stats jaded of this era, then you have to consider the running game of past eras jaded as well
</p>

But thats just me.</p>

when your top 10 in everything at ur position, 2nd in yards, its hard to say he wasn't elite... even in his old age he is putting up decent numbers

MMB's hissy fit.

No more than 12. or maybe 2 10 team leagues

LOL I still thought majority ruled but ESPN sucks. It is too difficult and the info on yahoo is alot better in my opinion. No need to change something that worked.

i would just like to say that with the utlitity position in the league, EVERYTHING that i said would happen in the draft did happen last year. Daven himself, who argued against me, did the EXACT stuff tha tI said would happen

it makes the draft less fun and strategic. I say 2 RBs, 3 WRs and make QBs biggest point getters... thats the best balance... anything to not make it a RB league

Bah 12 is like minimum, I hate it when there are so few teams that every single person every single team has is a top 20 guy at their position, I want to go deeper ...Blondie wants it deeper too
