maybe someone like patsfan or mh can back this up for me cause i dont play guitar but me and my friend(who does play) were chilling drinking at my friends family bbq and nickleback was playing on this ipod bucket thing. they had it on random but 2 nickleback songs in a row came on. i say to my friend "didnt we just listen to this crap" he said "no but its pretty much the SAME EXACT rhythm"(or notes or whatever you musicians call em)
</P>

Just speaking generally, the players and song writers have no less talent and skill then those from the 60's, 70's and 80's. They just lack imagination.</P>

Music was better back then

90s was the peak of all entertainment
</P>

Lets not get crazy here. Although I did like the 90's alternative movement. </P>

And don't knock the 80's. They were great. Dire Straits, Stray Cats, Police, Stranglers, Cure, The Cult. The 80's had a lot of great bands.</P>

i'd have to actually say MEtallica can't be in this convo. Cuz Master of the Puppets was technically the 80s and that was a great album, but it wasn't until the 90s did they blow up

i mean they were pretty big when "and justice for all" came out. but they did go mainstream with the black album.

MICHAEL JORDAN

Jordan played in the 80s and 90s... but if u had to pick one to label him from with a decade, which one would it be

the 80s produced hair metal and really weird techno.. its automatically loses

im gonna settle this RHCP and MEtallica* convo with a simple comparison...

MICHAEL JORDAN

Jordan played in the 80s and 90s... but if u had to pick one to label him from with a decade, which one would it be

the 80s produced hair metal and really weird techno.. its automatically loses

when I think of Jordan I think of the 90s. 6 rings, and could of had more if he did not retire.

i missed more music conversation?!?!!? dammit!!!

RHCP was def. a 90s band....I can't claim to know alot of 80s Chili Peppers music, although one ofmy favorite songs by them was "Fight Like a Brave". I thnk i liked when they were pretty much punk music.
The 90s they kinda turned into a mainstream "alternarock" band.....whatever, i still liked them though.
Someone was right though...huge success still in this decade so good debate fo sho!
Btw....Dani Calfornia.....might crack my top 50 favorite tracks ever. love that song!!!

Metallica......who gives a **** would be the correct answer to that one... lol

A player, coach or issue that should be on your radar as training
camp approaches.

The New York Giants’ pass rush is going to be improved in 2010. In
fact, its pass defense as a whole is going to take a major step forward.
The safety play has to be improved. Safety was a massive liability in
2009, but it should be a strength this season.

<div class="mod-inline image image-right"><div style="margin-left: 10px; width: 200px;">[+] Enlargehttp://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0712/nfl_a_sintim_200.jpg (http://espn.go.com/blog/NFCEast/post/_/id/15507/#)<div style="width: 200px;"><cite>
</cite></div></div></div>The
defensive backfield has more talent and more possibilities with four,
five and even six defensive backs on the field. Better secondary play
will provide for more defensive play-calling flexibility. That should
lead to more blitzing and more unpredictability in the play calling in
general.

The immediate benefactor of bringing added pressure? Try linebacker Clint Sintim (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=12458). He was a 3-4 outside linebacker in
college and should grab a hold of the strongside linebacker job in his
second season. He can get upfield, make plays in the backfield and
pressure the quarterback. I view Sintim as a strong breakout candidate
in 2010, and his ability to rush the passer is a major reason why.

But no team in the NFL has the talent at defensive end like New
York. There will be serious competition for playing time at end, and as
we have seen in the past, the Giants will not hesitate to put more than
two defensive ends on the field at the same time in their different
personnel packages. That is one of the beauties of Justin Tuck (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8488). Surely he will bump inside on passing
downs again to allow another pure edge rusher to enter the game.

Mathias Kiwanuka (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9618) and Osi Umenyiora (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4514) are now ahead of Jason Pierre-Paul (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=13256) on the defensive end depth chart.
When Tuck moves inside, I would unleash rookie Pierre-Paul off the edge.
He is a very raw player, but far and away the best athlete of this
group, which is saying something.

Lastly, with all this depth on defense, especially at defensive end,
the Giants defenders should be able to stay fresher longer. This
applies to the end of games and the end of the season. This defense is
back in a big way, and the pass rush will be a big reason why.

Morehead, I did not suggest The Cure was a punk band. I said they kept an entire genre alive by creating a new one. No matter what way I try to look at it, punk would have been dead without the cure. They were like the biggest 80s influence for punk after the Ramones and Sex Pistols. Well mainstream influences anyway. Without the Cure, I'm pretty sure none of the music I like would be around...

Byron knows!!....would The Used be around without the Cure?? hahahaha

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/2010/07/16/2010-07-16_yanks_fail_to_show_stripes.html

It was Giants co-owner John Mara (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/John+Mara)
who proudly reminded everyone that Sheppard was also their P.A. voice
from 1956-2006 despite the fact that he never had a contract and worked
on a handshake agreement. One time, Mara recalled with a sly grin, Phil Rizzuto (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Phil+Rizzuto) asked Sheppard what was the greatest Yankee Stadium game he had presided over.</p>

"The day Pat Summerall (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Pat+Summerall)
kicked the field goal in the snow in 1958," Sheppard replied instantly,
much to the chagrin of Rizzuto, who was no doubt expecting him to pick
a historic Yankee game.</p>

MUAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!lol leave him alone. i have faith joba will bounce back. needs to learn to throw some of his other pitches better like the curve, or a change. think a change would be a good addition, think it could confuse batters by making them think its one of his 1-7 sliders but doesnt drop.

in the Bradshaw thread in tagf, im lovin Slipknottin right now lol.....

"why is everyone on these boards so obsessed with Bradshaw?? It makes no sense"
"Same with Ramses Barden"

lol

im totally with him on the AB thing...for a guy who arguably gets injured MORE than BJ, he really doesnt have the numbers to argue he should be a bigger part of the offense. That and hes got the fumbleitis!
I dont think I'll ever be impressed with Ahmad Bradshaw. I STILL feel, that after 4 years, ANY RB built like him could do the same job on our team. As i've made it clear for the however long ive been a member of these boards, AB is NOT special

Good win

Pettitte pulled in third with groin injury

New York Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte is likely headed to the disabled list after he left Sunday's start against the Tampa Bay Rays in the top of the third inning with a strained left groin.

An MRI taken at New York Presbyterian Hospital revealed Pettitte suffered a Grade 1 strain, the least severe kind.

There's a great old tale about an exchange between Ted Williams
and a kid pitcher from the Washington Senators named Pedro Ramos.
In one of his first games in the bigs, Ramos stuck out Williams. Ramos
saved the baseball, and a few days later went over to the Sox dugout to
ask Williams if he would sign the ball for him. The Splendid Splinter
unloaded on Ramos with both barrels, signed the ball, and told him to
take a hike. A few weeks later, Williams hit a prodigious homer off
Ramos, and as he was rounding first base hollered, "I'll sign that
sonofa*****, too, if you can ever find it!''<div style="overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;">

That is exactly what the article was about. This one is funny to...

The story reminds me of an encounter I had with Bob Gibson in a
hotel elevator in the 1990s. We were talking about then-Sox ace Roger
Clemens and I told Gibson about a young hitter who had homered off
Clemens, then asked the Rocket to sign the baseball. I could see steam
coming off Gibson's head as he listened. I asked him what he would have
done in the same situation and Gibson said, "I've have hit him in the
head next time up, then offered to sign his head!''<div style="overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;">

Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Yankees and Red Sox both have "big-time" interest in Blue Jays reliever Scott Downs.</P>

This should be at least a little fun for the Jays, who get to take bids from two division rivals over the next few weeks. Downs, 34, has posted an excellent 2.56 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 30/8 K/BB ratio in 43 appearances this season while holding left-handed hitters to a .196 batting average. Any team could use a reliever like that, and other contenders are likely to join in. Jul. 19 - 2:24 pm et</P>

So yesterday me and 3 of my boys head out to get some cheap munchies at the Old Country Buffet out here on LI and in the middle of scarfing down countless plates of fried chicken I hear this commotion going on..... I keep munching then it gets louder n louder n I see people gradually getting up to check out the scene, so I start to slowly stand up and see these 2 F'n Water Buffalo's (Combined weight of 500lbs +) belly to belly screaming at each other in the middle of a packed restuarant with a line out the door, then.....

BAM!!!!!!

1 of the cows grabs the other's hair and starts landing punch after punch til the girl gets knocked on the ground and they start wrestling and rolling around til the manager comes running out and threatens to call the cops, then they all bounced ..... Guess they were fighting over who's the undisputed QUEEN of the LI Trailer Trash

The whole time my buddy is chanting 'JERRY, JERRY, JERRY!!!!'...... It was DYNAMITE!!!!! Who needs Medevil Times in NJ for dinner and a show when you got an 'OCB' in the hood

As hard as it would be, yes I would be congratulating him if he was in Red Sox uniform. When Manny hit his 500th homerun I was like congrats that is a huge accomplishment.

We as fans don’t know who and who did not use steroids, my opinion is more pitchers did it then hitters, but who really knows. 600 homeruns is a huge accomplishment. Only a few players all time have that many.

Some of you guys talk about things like who got voted in as a starter for the All Star game, andI really couldn't give a ****.</P>

</P>

nah man....the only thing i respect about the all-star game in baseball is pitcher selection...cuz its not fan vote. actually...same goes for most professional sports all-star type games. it's usually a joke.</P>

</P>

Well Matt last year went crazy when Tex beat out Youk in the voting for 1st base last year.</P>

It only means something to the players since it helps them in their contract negotiations. Other than that, it means next to nothing.</P>

I do like it when a young guy gets to go to the game for the first time. I actually felt badly for Clay Buchhultz when he was selected and couldn't play due to him injury.</P>

A few weeks later, Williams hit a prodigious homer off
Ramos, and as he was rounding first base hollered, "I'll sign that
sonofa*****, too, if you can ever find it!''<div style="border: medium none ; overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;">

</div>lol awesome. that was dangerous too back in those days, dont want to catch a fast ball to the face next time up. thats why mantle always ran with his head away from pitchers when he hit a hr cause he would always have a huge grin on his face especially in a tight spot, according to yogi

idk MH, silver slugger and gold glove awards are pretty prestegious. and to me, BOTH those award show pretty big contributions to team success.
I mean i see your point about stats and stuff, but i jsut feel like those 2 are big.golden gloves are lame and half the time no one that deserves them, wins them

not necessarily....
The only problem i see frequently is that they might have 2 guys close in voting, and the guy with better stats randomly loses &gt;.&lt;
1Bs like Tex are a rarity in the field, so it's not something I say is "lame"</P>

I really don't understand Hockey contracts. lol

This guy is 27 so you do the math....

Kovalchuk has signed a 17-year deal which could top $150 million, a
source told ESPN.com.

whats hockey?

Something to keep Canadians busy for a few months

does it involve maple syrup? If so i may be interested

I like maple syrup on my pancakes i like chocolate syrup on mine. soo freckin goooood

Jeter(although defensively did have a great year last year), Polanco, Longoria, Hunter, and Ichiro last year were all debatable picks in my eyes last year...and thats just the AL. lol</P>
