Spagnuolo brought some really nice eagles hybrid blitz packages that coupled with the Leadership evident equated to the '07 Championship.

Can that kind of intense pass rush and pressure be replicated? There he is in St. Louis and basically a minor speed bump in the NFCW.

Here we are with some of the template players that fitted his schemes and yet these guys can't seem to find that Intensity and express it.

That's why I clamor for the "Us against Them" mentality. Something that sparks the Team as a whole to want to go out there and earn their paychecks.

For goodness sake, don't become the chicago cubs of football is what I'm saying.

I hope that the vanilla gets some sprinkles and swirls come Opening Day. the Panthers will be a good barometric test for us. Physical football team with an aggressive defense.

Hopefully we will show some moxy and set the standard for the season to come. If not, it's going to get real ugly real fast.

By the way...I hate to piss Matt off. (right) but Gerris looked really good yesterday. Very physical.

The kid can play. the only question of course is can he stay on the field.

I really only noticed him on one play. so i cant say the same
I did notice Goff tho, i hate to admit, he looked decent.

Our scrubs just stuffed their starters.

[Y] and they dont even mention it.

they really didnt

Dilliard looked good yesterday and Goff played with an attitude too... i like it..

Not that preseason matters at all, but you KNOW all your annoying Jet fans would be intolerable if they won last night. So bask in it a lil lol
and the NYG gave the jets a td on a blown coverage with 12 men on the field....

excellent point

Right...Like they weren't going to score anyway after marching down the field to the 2 yard line.

And Matt, if you review my position when we hired Fewell, you will see my concern that his scheme is focused on pass defense and away from run stopping. I do think we have to personnel to be a run stopping defense. the real question is will our new scheme allow it.

even more of a reason why we need a bulluck type player. If bulluck dont pan out then im not sure we have the personnel. The scheme will allow it as long as the right people ar ein

The knock on Gerris is health. if he's healthy by the final cuts, I think he's on the team and also seeing lots of playing time once the season starts.

he takes bad angles, is usually out of position, and relies on his his physical attributes more than anything - he wont be seeing alot of time this year

I think the fact that he was on the field late in the 4th QTR shows where he is on the depth chart . . .

Goff got bailed out by the penalty on LT's long TD run though . . . . the hole was right to his right and he was unblocked, but rather than fill the hole, he runs up the back of the DL. If he fills that hole, LT has no gain at all.

the fab 5 didnt all start though, rt? they arent THAT old. whos the weak link there? Diehl has been around for awhile now....but if there's one thing i dont know about regarding football, it's o-line performance. cant really contribute to those talks. i played football in high school, but i played LB and was really only used to blitz lol....wasnt fast enough for coverage. offensive linemen in high school were pretty bad...so its not something i can judge on

The O-line looked horrible last night.

thats my biggest fear this year to be honest

yea it did. no push. think our guys maybe gettting old.

The scary part is, if our o-line does not play up to par. Then our play-making wr's will never get a chance to get the ball.
see, i think they can hold their own in passing situations. we were using the a lot of quick passes last night, that worked well. the running game is where im worried about the o line.

thats the beauty of a healthy bradshaw tho.

he makes his own situation

Oh, never mind. Didnt realize there was a Jets fan in here last night..

" The stadium was beautiful", Jacobs said." The only bad thing today was the stadium was dressed in green". lol.

Who the **** is Victor Cruz?????
That sir is Victor Cruz-missile

hes a north jersey boy, grew up in paterson - the town i lived next to my whole life. What is funny that directly on the opposite border side of my town is Garfield where Miles Austin, Luis Castillo, and Wayne Chrebet are all from.

He was an undrafted rookie out of Maryland
Had a old neighbor once who went to high school in Patterson. Said he played football with Craig " iron head " Hayward. From the stories he told me, it was a proper nickname for him....

Back then the passing game was all downfield. You didn't see QB's dumping the ball off a lot to RB's. You had no west coast offense where a QB could throw a 5 yard pass to a WR and get credit for 30 yards in passing.

It was very common for QB's to be successful and throw more Int's than TD's.

Joe Namath has the worst stats of any Hall of Fame QB -- 173 career TD's; 220 career INT's. only 2 out 12 years with more TD's than INT's.

Quite possibly the most overrated player in the history of the NFL.

Namath was an elite QB for all but the last few years of his career. he had legendary terrible knees and was playing on guts. Everyone thinks of him as a glamore boy (like Pizz) but he was one tough football player. Really tough.

This is because his defense to all arguments to things in the past is that HE SAW things himself. Therefore if I did not, I cannot make an educated decision myself.

It's useless. Don't waste your breathe lol

Not fair. I'm not saying that Namath was the greatest QB of all time. I'm just saying that in football, its much more about what you see on the field than the stats accumulated.

Baseball is a bit different. But this started with Matt's claim that Joe Namath was the most overrated player in football history. I'm telling you he was a great player and that the stats don't tell the story.

I lean to Larry Bird because I tend to like guys who are less flashy and more productive. Its just the way I am. Plus I'm a contrarian by nature. I never go with the flow. And you guys would have it no other way.

but to suggest that Joe namath doesn't belong in the HOF is just pure silliness. NO ONE, not just me, who ever saw him would agree with that.

And I just don't think that the players "In the day" were better than today's players. I think the 2 greatest QB's of all time are Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. I'm sure we've all seen them play.

you know im sitting here thinking and i have to laugh, if the jets won last night, every single one of my friends that root for the jets would of gone out of their way to come looking for me just to talk ****. but i besides matt, " i told you so" or "this IS our stadium" is all im hearing from my giant friends and were not looking for jet fans to say nah nanna nanaa. seriously like i told that kid colour last night, last night was like the superbowl for the jets.

the jets and their fans are jokes.

GMENAGAIN, notice how I am staying out of this argument about Namath....while typically I'm foaming at the mouth to have a debate with good ole Morehead!!

This is because his defense to all arguments to things in the past is that HE SAW things himself. Therefore if I did not, I cannot make an educated decision myself.

It's useless. Don't waste your breathe lol

even though I also feel Namath was extremely overrated. The Jets needed a hero, they got one, and it got him in the Hall for that sole reason. Nothing special to see here, move along folks!

That prediction is whats overhyped. It wasn't even a real prediction. He was asked a question and he ansewered it.

I do not deny that if he didn't win that game, he would not be as heralded. That win is what gave Namath legendary status.

so then Eli already has legendary status?

If Eli had been the QB for a team representing an upstart league that many claimed didn't belong on the same field as the NFL, and beat one of their most dominant champions, thus changing the course of pro football forever...................then yes, that would have given Eli legendary status.

Giants weren't considered to not deserve to be onthe same field as the pats?

18-0 isn't one of the most dominating teams ever, mind u they were coming off a mini-dynasty?

also it was superbowl 3, u act like it was the final game the year before the first superbowl was played

The Giants had just played the Pats tough in week 17. We all knew they belonged on the same field as the Pats. (Or did you think they had no chance Matt).

If you even try to suggest that the Giants win vs. the Pats compares somehow to the historical significance of the Jets win over the Colts, you are nuts.

We loved the Giants win more, but the course of the NFL was forever changed by the Jets win.

1 yard on 7 attempts for 27 & 44...ouch!

Loved the game. I had not heard anything about Cruz at all. Don't know where he fits but Plax is out.

Going swimming. lol

bradshaw still averaged 5 a carry

what? Bradshaw was -1 on carries....what game were you watching?
The only play was that awkward dump Eli had at the line where Bradshaw broke free and broke a few ankles. Run game was non-existent till the subs were playin subs

Way to stir up controversy Dezz. Fortunately, I LOVE controversy.

I have no problem with an Islamic Cultural Center 500 feet from Ground Zero.

This is America and we respect the rights of others to worship as they please. This is an overblown issue drummed up for political reason by some republicans. I'm dissappointed in that.

Lets stick to the many shortcomings of the Obama administration and not inventing tangental controversies.

I'm normally against the government getting involved with anything related to religion, but in this case it goes beyond religion, it's a public safety issue, the amount attacks that will be brought upon this mosque, that's clearly being built as a monument of triumph over the "devil" that is America by Islam, will be staggering...

Think about this,

#1) The guy that's proposed this building has said that America is to blame for the 9/11 attacks, that Hamas is not a terrorist organization.

#2) the area in which they propose to build this is not only insensitive, but it makes no sense, no one lives there, it's a commercial district, there is no Muslim population there, certainly not enough to fill a what is it 3 story tall mosque?

this is being built as a monument to victory on 9/11, and it's a shame, but beyond that it's just dangerous, public safety has to be taken into account.

soooo, who wants a mosque built at ground zero?

Way to stir up controversy Dezz. Fortunately, I LOVE controversy.

I have no problem with an Islamic Cultural Center 500 feet from Ground Zero.

This is America and we respect the rights of others to worship as they please. This is an overblown issue drummed up for political reason by some republicans. I'm dissappointed in that.

Lets stick to the many shortcomings of the Obama administration and not inventing tangental controversies.

Well I am bothered by it. I have lost people I knew in 9/11 and to build an islamic cultural center near ground zero is not ok with me.

I have nothing against that religion, but build it somewhere else, not any where near ground zero.

I'm normally against the government getting involved with anything related to religion, but in this case it goes beyond religion, it's a public safety issue, the amount attacks that will be brought upon this mosque, that's clearly being built as a monument of triumph over the "devil" that is America by Islam, will be staggering...

My opinion is he just wants to skip training camp and majority of pre-season. What a luxury old Brett has, does not have to do anything but just suit up and play on Sundays in the regular season.

Lets stick to the many shortcomings of the Obama administration and not inventing tangental controversies.
but why cant the muslims respect the feelings of people that lost loved ones on 911? its not like theres a major population of muslims in downtown manhattan. why not build in queens? were at war with religious fanatics, hell one almost succeeded in blowing 3 blocks up earlier this year IN NYC. we know the guy funding this whole thing backs hamas....... build that mosque anywhere but downtown manhattan. this has nothing to do with religious freedom and more to do with respecting sacred ground.

i found it intertesting how he thought its wont get built because he thought no union/construction company in ny or new jersey is going to "lift a hammer". i dont know about that. like matt said, if the price is right.....

my only point to this argument is that ive never even seen a mosque in NYC....actually i dont think ive ever seen a mosque period...so why now, on this specific property in manhattan?

To me it's just a statement, and to me that's unacceptable considering the controversy it would continue to stir. Just find another location. It should be easier, and significantly cheaper obviously. I just dont get it. There is absolutely no logical reason anyone, regardless of religion should feel this is a good idea?
Did the ppl proposing the idea state why they wanted it there?

I didn't watch anything yesterday, no time....why did he do something on it?

here's an interesting article, apparently building a new mosque is A-Ok but rebuilding a church that was destroyed on 9/11 is difficult, they can't get the OK from the city for that.
