Let me just put this out there.

Morehead is looking for a top WR. I have Ronnie Brown and Santana Moss riding the pines. I also have Greg Jennings available.

Actually I have all my RB's with the possible exception of Frank Gore and LT available. I will even trade TE's if it works.

If you are looking for a top RB, let me know.

pappy... can we work out a deal? not sure what you are interested in but i have alot to offer i think... for the right price of course. everyone is moveable.

I love reggie Wayne but it gives me bye week problems week 7. Ronnie and Jennings would be fair but again it causes me problems. Gotta think about it.

I can't claim that I've gotten to watch him pitch very often because of where I live...but I can say, that I loved his interview on Rome Is Burning. It was the most incredible 12 minutes of television of all time.

Ronnie Brown and Santana Moss
Miles Austin for both?

If not then what can I give to get Moss? (3rd time I have asked today)

Forsett or Lynch? Both. Work with me here man.

Forsett/Lynch and Hines for Ronnie and Santana

I'm not interested in moving Moss by himslef. he would have to be an instrument for me to improve my WR situation.

I'm looking for a Wayne, Austin, Randy, Andre Johnson etc.. type WR. Other than that, my team is where I want it to be.

I have some blue chip players in excess to move.

Good luck with that. You will find with all the value you have you can give up alot to get back even more. Kind of like I did with CJ. You are in a great spot.

You like Forsett and Lynch for Ronnie? Benjavarus. Any combination of RB I can give to get him?

Has there ever been 2 better starters going head to head in a playoff game?

14k's vs No hitter.

I saw a thing on SportsCenter talking about some baseball stat nerd junky who plugged all this info into this system he made. Said Tim was more impressive than Roy in that start. 1st pitch strikes and so on.

Not sure I am buying that one. But he did give up only 2 hits so....

Everyone knew he would do well. The fact of the matter is, he won't play when McFadden is healthy. If he is hurt then it made sense. If Darren stays healthy Bush won't have 50 more points for the rest of the year. Ronnie will score more than both of them and I stand by that statement.

Shock got too caught up in the bye week and made a mistake. That is what happened.

I am only interested in a trade that returns to me a top WR.

This has to be Yankee homerism talking. No baseball expert would ever agree. American league teams build their teams with the DH. The DH is usually one of the best hitters on the team.

No NL team signs a pitcher because they can hit.

An AL team with a DH has an enormous advantage because they have designed there team around the DH rule. NL teams haven't. They essentially use their 9th best hitter (almost always a utility outfielder) as a DH.

lawl
10-12-2010, 02:23 PM
Um, are you guys serious? It's pretty simple- because AL teams have a DH all year then they build their team to have a good bat to be at DH whereas a backup on a NL team isnt going to have as good of a bat when he DHs as compared to the already established DH on the AL team. Now when you flip it to NL being the home team, basically all pitchers are awful hitters and comparing a NL pitcher's bat to a AL pitcher's bat is a wash, but then you add in how much better a hitter an AL DH will be compared to a bench player on an NL squad and chances are the advantage goes to the AL team.

right, i mean you could promise me, as a yankee fan, that we'd play an NL team 4 games straight in our own stadium, with a DH....yea I bet we WOULD win. Chances are we'd get more production out of that DH most likely. Buttttttttttttt, since thats not the way it works, It's a push. Matt, Moss stretched the field for Welker by opening up the underneath routes. It will be tougher for Welker to get open as a lot of the coverage will move to him. If Tate can stretch the field it was not be too big a drop off for Welker. But tate is no Moss.

as a wild card team without home field advantage, wouldnt the DH rule put the Yankees at a disadvantage? hmmm...
Plus, the NL cant use the DH as an excuse when playing on the road gives them an extra bat. I don't get that logic. Unless for some reason your pitcher is the best hitter on your team which would be sad.

I assume you are joking with this point. PLEASE TELL ME YOU ARE JOKING.

All NL teams can do is use their 4th outfielder as a DH.

Next time please put your posts in red when you are being sarcastic. For a minute there I thought you were serious. I apologize for thinking that. That really would be an insult to you.

im with pizz,. the al team still needs to bat its pitcher when away, something al teams arent used to just like nl teams arent used to dhing. i mean i guess you can say a slight edge goes to the al but not much

They essentially use their 9th best hitter (almost always a utility outfielder) as a DH.
i just think its an over rated complaint mh. and al teams dont build around a dh, thats absurd. you think the yanks would build around nick johnson?

Pappy - offer sent

Iluv ya Matt but that offer may be the biggest joke I've ever seen. After all the discussion last week there would be no chance that anyone wouldn't veto it.

And they would be right to.

I am VERY confident it was not worse than the one involving a guy named Beanie.

Wanna bet?

hey u were willing to do the same deal fo rwayne... just figured i'd give u a better fantasy option than wayne

Are you suggesting that Reggie wayne and Wes Welker are equal?

at this point? I'll be taking bets

Most FF players would consider Jennings and Welker about even. I say "about even" because i think most would give at least a stight edge to Jennings.

Now you want to add Ronnie Brown as well?

Thats just friggin crazy. treat me with a little more respect than that.

possibly BEFORE the Randy Moss deal they were even.. now Welker will be a top tier beast

again, i will be taking bets

Matt, Moss stretched the field for Welker by opening up the underneath routes. It will be tougher for Welker to get open as a lot of the coverage will move to him. If Tate can stretch the field it was not be too big a drop off for Welker. But tate is no Moss.

Did you notice how well Harvin did yesterday with Moss in the lineup? Did you notice the drop off in Harvin's productivity when Rice got hurt.

Is the moon full? the loons are out.

did u just compare Welker to Harvin?

MattMeyerBud

Um, are you guys serious? It's pretty simple- because AL teams have a DH all year then they build their team to have a good bat to be at DH whereas a backup on a NL team isnt going to have as good of a bat when he DHs as compared to the already established DH on the AL team. Now when you flip it to NL being the home team, basically all pitchers are awful hitters and comparing a NL pitcher's bat to a AL pitcher's bat is a wash, but then you add in how much better a hitter an AL DH will be compared to a bench player on an NL squad and chances are the advantage goes to the AL team.

"thats not the way it works" because you dont play JUST 4 games, and you dont play JUST at your own field.
if it DID work that way, AL would "most likely" have the advantage due to DH.

Hope that clears things up.

I just hate the arugment on a yearly basis. I dont care if they change it in either way. Meaning if they put a DH in the NL, or took it away in the AL. It's just been part of baseball for as long as I've been alive, so it's all most of us know.

I agree with every word Lawl says in this post. Its Dezz and Pizz that disagree.

bottom line

When NL team has the home field advantage is an advantage with them because A) their pitchers are use to it and B) AL lineups typically rely on their DH seeing as how they are batted iwthin the first 5 spots typically

Now the NL doesn't have a spot on their roster most of the time for just bats, but it is an overblown excuse because they do pinch hit for the pitcher AT LEAST once a game

now i dunno who that agrees or disagrees with, but thats what i think.

I bet we sign Berkman to a short term deal for the same reason we signed Johnson.

AAAAAND.....I can almost guarantee that Posada only plays behind the plate in emergencies next season. To say he was a bad catcher this year is an understatement. damn he's old.
I mean I know he'll try to hold on for another season or 2, but I kinda wish he wouldn't. Same way I felt about Matsui, and I was 100% right.
It's just too bad the Yankees want to move Jesus Montero away from the catcher position b/c they dont feel he's adequate enough there for the Bigs.

edit - and also, even though I was pissed off at the Swisher trade even with the Tex signing following shortly after, He has become the most versatile, welcomed addition to NY in a long time. I will always make fun of him and tell everyone i hate him though, cuz when I do, he performs above my expectations lol. And they love him in the clubhouse. no homo.

unless we dont count things like runs scored, and wins, etc.....the meaningless stats. lol

Aren't they the Wild Card team? I may have missed it but I thought the Rays had more wins.

yep....but i dont see how that means Phillies are the best team.

Plus the rays had the best schedule going into October....but im sure youll just say thats an excuse, rt? lol

Didn't you just say that wins should determine who the best team is. Combine that with the fact that the Phillies have been head and shoulders better than anyone in baseball the last two months.

They are the best team. its always possible that they get beat, largely because the AL always have an advantage due to the DH, but it would be an upset.

as a wild card team without home field advantage, wouldnt the DH rule put the Yankees at a disadvantage?

They essentially use their 9th best hitter (almost always a utility outfielder) as a DH.
i just think its an over rated complaint mh. and al teams dont build around a dh, thats absurd. you think the yanks would build around nick johnson?

thats what they did tho... Thames, NJ, and Berkman were brought in specifically for the DH spot.

And u can like or dislike NJ but they brought him in and batted him 2nd
thats not building around nick johnson though...........and i doubt girardi would have kept that order. dont forget cervelli and posada throws everything off. teams would kill for this problem.

that has nothing to do with it, ur missing the point

the fact is the yankees went out and got a guy to be the #2 in their order JUST to play DH and spell Tex at first every once in a while.

Just cuz NJ started really sucking means nothing, it was the intent.
why because he was put there for few games before he was hurt? he was also used in the 6th a few times. im telling you even if nj was healthy, posada would have been dhing a majority of the time anyway. he was about to explode for splitting time to begin with.

dude... posada would of only been dh'ing because even with NJ at his best, Posada is a beast

NJ was paid to get on base with that high on base % he had a history of and bat in the 2 spot. It just didn't work out... how ur missing the point on all of this is beyond me

Beware, i pointed this out and dezz **** his tighty whities

Posada is god awful behind the plate

NY Yankees are the best team in baseball.

unless we dont count things like runs scored, and wins, etc.....the meaningless stats.

They are the best team. its always possible that they get beat, largely because the AL always have an advantage due to the DH, but it would be an upset.

as a wild card team without home field advantage, wouldnt the DH rule put the Yankees at a disadvantage?

They essentially use their 9th best hitter (almost always a utility outfielder) as a DH.
i just think its an over rated complaint mh. and al teams dont build around a dh, thats absurd. you think the yanks would build around nick johnson?

thats what they did tho...

It just didn't work out... how ur missing the point on all of this is beyond me
you make no God damn sense.

he was brought here for his high on base%. had nothing to do with the 2 spot

uhm, yes it did.

Its why he was batting 2, so he would get on base so that ARod, Tex, or Cano can knock him in...

ur the kid that watches every yankee game and i ahve to explain this to u?
yea why am i debating this, you know nothing about nothing when it comes to the yanks. iv seen him, with my own 2 eyes in the 6th and 7th spot more than a few times. al teams DONT build around a DH

dezz just because u waste ur time watching 162 games while i seen maybe 90 this year doesn't mean i dont watch them. Its just a boring sport...

Texas - Vlad bats 4th
CHW - Manny Rameriz batted 4th
Det - Damon batted 2nd
Minny - Thome bats 5th
Boston - Papi Bats 4th/5th
LA - Matsui batted 5th

Dezz....I appreciate your determination with your argument. It is clearly better than your motivation to properly manage a fantasy football team....

But I dont see how you can deny the fact that Posada is no longer a threat behind the plate. I'm not going to ever argue that he isn't a good gamecaller. He's a smart veteran player. And I'm sure Yankee pitching loves throwing to him. (except Burnett....pffft...like he even counts...)

The Yankees have obviously outgrown their past fouls of keeping and signing aged players with little to no upside. I'm sure Jorge will stick around for a bit, but I also bet he's going to have a serious sit-down with FO and decide whats going to go on for the rest of his career.

I'm still trying to figure out how taking away the deep threat on a team HELPS the underneath receivers. Belichek must have something up his sleeve that we don't know about, BC I don't Deion branch can fill the void that Randy leaves See that's where just about everybody is thinking about this the wrong way. imo.

We don't need to replace Moss. If we have 4-6 guys that can get open, thats all we need. Not to mention that 2 of them have the speed to stretch the field on any given play. I think you will see more of a type of team that was succesfull a few years ago.

Dezz let it go...

all the top AL teams pay people to be a big bat in their lineups in some way shape or form...

thats the point of this and ur wrong if u think its not true

CHW had Mark Kotsay as a paid DH to bat 5th for them

like i said, these AL teams plan to pay a bat for the whole year... to say they aren't relying on them is crazy...

They are losing their #2-#5 hitter

any team that loses one of the #2 to #5 hitter is handicapped more

NY Yankees are the best team in baseball.

unless we dont count things like runs scored, and wins, etc.....the meaningless stats.

They are the best team. its always possible that they get beat, largely because the AL always have an advantage due to the DH, but it would be an upset.

as a wild card team without home field advantage, wouldnt the DH rule put the Yankees at a disadvantage?

They essentially use their 9th best hitter (almost always a utility outfielder) as a DH.
i just think its an over rated complaint mh. and al teams dont build around a dh, thats absurd. you think the yanks would build around nick johnson?

thats what they did tho...

It just didn't work out... how ur missing the point on all of this is beyond me
you make no God damn sense.

he was brought here for his high on base%. had nothing to do with the 2 spot

uhm, yes it did.

LA - Matsui batted 5th

minus the Rays, all of those teams are the competing teams in the AL i'd wsay.. all of them hav ea paid big bat to play DH within the first 5 spots

agian ur wrong dezz
i dont watch all 162 games just like you dont watch 90 lol.
it STILL doesnt mean al teams build around the dh....cause they dont. manny rameriz wasnt with the sox at the beginning of the season so how did they build around him? all teams build around starting pitching.

They are losing their #2-#5 hitter

any team that loses one of the #2 to #5 hitter is handicapped more
never said anything remotely close to that. i said i dont think the al has THAT much more of an advantage over the nl. both teams get to play at home. i even said you can give the al a slight edge, but still think its over *****ed about

well my point on ware is this. We had two 1000 yard backs nad Bradshaw still got touches....

we dont have a running game like we did then and we could o fused him in some spots and we didnt...

not only that but he basically faught all camp to beat out Gartrell johnson (a FB) for the 3rd spot...

really not impressive. Buyt its too early and its THEE week, so im gonna leave it at that.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other. they are the same lol. different stature I suppose. Andre is the stronger of the 2, he's more like Fitz, in that he will fight you for the ball, and win....
But idk man...just always liked Megatron!

Being a Georgia fan, I always had to hear it about this G Tech guy Calvin Johnson, and how he was literally one of the best college WRs of all time. I never got to see him play back then...but when he came to the league, I saw what was up. lol

You do realize that Calvin has been badly injured every season he's played? lol
At the end of his rookie season he played a month's worth of football WHILE taking vicodin during games for back pain. DURING the GAMES! lol
I honestly can't even imagine walking around after popping some of those, but this guy was playing balls to the walls, sprinting...lol

I think I might take Calvin over Andre...if only because Calvin's nickname is Megatron :P

wasn't that our defensive name when we had Arrington

I don't remember our defense being called Megatron, but then I don't remember a lot of things... PM.

I'm slightly bummed that Stafford won't be playing this week =\

I saw him at UGA a few times, but I was hoping to see him play. oh well.

I just saw an article that Stafford might not even get the job back...

there's no way Stafford comes off the bye in week 8 and doesnt start. He's going to be really good. Detroit knows it, and theyve invested too much into him to not let him show it.

Have you heard of "K2" "Black Mamba" or "Spice"?

It's a legal weed substitute that doesn't show up on tests....I trie some the other day, and must say that it's pretty good. Got the job done. Not as long of a space cruise as I may have liked, but it gets the thumbs up
