thats fine, that still had nothing to do wtih my argument that typically first year WRs dont do much. He shut me up, but it was true. He may of been the best but that didn't mean he was gonna have an immediate impact like he did

that's pretty much exactly what my argument was as well MMB....

I just was a bit more lets say, passionate, about it then you were.

Nicks has turned out very well, I still think Braylon may have been just as good here though...

just like I still think trading Shockey was a bad move.

Lunch time.

lol drop the shockey bomb and leave...

the useless Shockey in NO. It would of been better move if we got a better pick than Sintim

I think Braylon would of been alot better here. Sanchez focued on Keller the first quarter of the season and then they run the ball alot more...

Eli would of def gave him more targets
yea ill agree with eli would of hit him more but really i still wouldnt want him here. hes a head case. anyway the jets cant afford to keep edwards and holmes, i think theyll keep holmes. you guys?

MMB, with Pappi's daughter educational achievements-she will attain a job and be able to solely support her suitor with ease.

Just think of the pro's:
Sit home all day and run the boards
See and speak to Pappi regularly.

That's the best of both world's.

Thank you for your kind thoughts.
I'll always be a supporter. I have similar issues. I seem to be losing my mind as I age. There are still hints of greatness, or maybe those are just in my own opinion-ha.

I keep trying to think....and nothing happens.....three stooges.

I am realizing the importance of surrounding myself with good people. Fortunately my wife and kids still have their faculties.

Braylon had fewer catches, yards and TD's than Mario Manningham. And Manninham was part time.

Honestly, Braylon would be our 4th best WR.

and Braylon had better numbers than Welker and Boldin, does that mean hes better than them?

I think not
welker was hurt in the beginning of the year, right? and imo boldin is a bit over rated. hes good but not a beast.

You were willing to give up a 1 and a 3 for Bray Bray. I also think when there was talk that the Browns wanted Steve Smith with some picks, you were OK with that too.

And the John Henderson thing was another one of your good calls.

that i admit i was wrong with the 1 and 3, i was def in panic mode

Still dont think i was wrong about Henderson.... his attitude and vet leadership are def things that could of been used this year. He also got banged up this year tho, u can't count on something like that

thats fine, that still had nothing to do wtih my argument that typically first year WRs dont do much.

You were willing to give up a 1 and a 3 for Bray Bray. I also think when there was talk that the Browns wanted Steve Smith with some picks, you were OK with that too.

And the John Henderson thing was another one of your good calls.

that i admit i was wrong with the 1 and 3, i was def in panic mode

Still dont think i was wrong about Henderson.... his attitude and vet leadership are def things that could of been used this year. He also got banged up this year tho, u can't count on something like that

Yes you were. I was trying to reel you in, but you were having none of that.

And we had plenty of veteran leadership on the D line.

lol im tlaking actual leadership. OVer the whole team. Something that was lacking

What makes you think that a Jacksonville cast off would provide any better leadership than they guys we had?

Easy boy! Don't go Daven on me.

thats like calling Toomer a castoff

he thought he was underused at the end and was let go...

oh well....those are the only 2 former GMen that came to mind at the moment. i thought simms also, but if blondie just made and Eli one, i dont wanna QB-OD. lol
That's right, I knew that you couldn't see them and I still blanked on that--thus, the bandwagon comment. No I don't have Bavaro(but was considering it). Currently I have Carson, LT, Strahan. No worries, get whoever you want, they were all great players that deserve tribute. when an opposing side has no leverage and they offer something as ridiculous as that... it is negotiating by getting up and walking out

The pressure is all on the players....

I mean the players are just going to eventually cave in

I do want the 18 game season, but theres no way u can implement that AND make these guys take a tax cut unless ur going to guarantee more of their contracts.

I want to know on what grounds the NFL is justifying the pay cuts?

Because us as fans aren't seeing that and we're making this the most popular sport in the world. On what grounds can they justify it?

i think nflpa should get maaybe 10% seeing as that is probably a crazy amont of money and the nflpa should have to pay for any football related surgery players have to undergo for life. something like that. maybe raise the cap as well.

i think nflpa should get maaybe 10% seeing as that is probably a crazy amont of money and the nflpa should have to pay for any football related surgery players have to undergo for life. something like that. maybe raise the cap as well.

like honestly though, from the fans perspective - how could the owners really ask for more money?

They have been KILLING us the consumer, are the only sport with not fully guaranteed contracts, can cut players at any time, its horse****.

1. They will get the 18 game schedule

2. They will get a rookie salary structure

3. MOST IMPORTANT. The players will get probably between 42 and 47% of the revenues. (a huge drop from around 60% they get now.

i dont like the double standard about player safety, and then wanting to extend the season. on initial thought, a longer season sounds awesome, but its kind of hypocritical of goodell to change all these rules for player safety, and then say he wants to subject them to a longer season, where they risk further injury.
I mean, i dont REALLY care that much because I feel players are compensated to cope with a ****ing injury...but its still hypocritical.

Ihave always beenon the side of the owners in these sports labor disputes going back to the baseball strike in 81. But not this time. Playing in the NFL is a tough gig. Its not like baseball or basketball and adding games and taking away this much of the revenue from them isn'r right.

But it doesn't matter. The owners will sieze control of this and will get what they want. So the players might as well concede now.

Its over before it started. The owners have rigged the game. The only question is at what point do the players understand it. If they understand soon, we may have a full football season next year. If they are stubborn, we won't.

I think what the owners want will make the league better.

More meaningful games, and the draft cap...those are both good ideas.

so I'm on their side, I couldn't give a rats *** about millionaires fighting with billionaires, but what I do know is that the owners are smarter more prepared and better organized.... so they WILL win, so the players might as well give in.

okay but how does more games translate to less money for the players?

because existing contracts are not based on a 18 game season. thus less money....

I left out the revenue crap because I simply do not care who gets paid what...all I care about is what makes the league more fun to watch...more games is better for "me" maybe not for the players but I couldn't care less about that.

The owners don't look at this as playing more games for the players. They look at it as substituting 2 pre season games for 2 regular season games.

The deal would be a % of the revenues anyway, not getting paid for 2 extra games. The existing contract would most certainly not change.

The NFL is different and the owners know it. I guarantee you that they have done all the anaysis about how a prolonged lock out would effect the values of their teams.

They know that a substantially better deal for the owners would enhance their value even if there is a work stoppage.

You can whine about the "mean ol" owners if you want, but they are willing to go to war because they know that they are better off if they do.

My view is that they are sticking it to the players, but who cares. It won't matter. Its not about right and wrong. Its about leverage and self interest. Both sides careonly about their own interest. BUT, the owners are prepared for war and the players aren't.

The owners don't look at this as playing more games for the players. They look at it as substituting 2 pre season games for 2 regular season games.

The deal would be a % of the revenues anyway, not getting paid for 2 extra games. The existing contract would most certainly not change.

yea but as a fan, especially as a fan of a team that just charged PSLs, the idea of the owners making more money sickens me.

well that's you, I have no problem with Owners making more money.

Basically they want to just add two games and pocket the money. It isn't like we're going to be seeing a difference in sales prices or merch.

I get to see two more games a year, that's enough benefit for me.

So it does effect you and me in a way. They are basically ****ing us too

It effects you because you care how much money the owners make, it doesn't effect me...cause I just don't care.

it bothers me that the owners are risking this season not happening for their own greed and then they turn around and have ridiculous prices for the fans...

And its not greed as much as it is self interest. All parties in a free market system act in self interest. When a labor union negotiates for more pay and benefits, its self interest. Just as its self interest that management does the same. When you try to sell jerseys, you aren't doing it to bring jerseys to the masses out of the kindness of your heart. You do it because you can make some money doing it.

You really need to stop with these good guy/bad guy, overly simplistic views.

The facts are what they are Matt.

1. The owners are going to get what they want. 18 games, rookie cap and well under 50% share of revenues for the players. they are holding all the cards. They are prepared. They have done their homework. The players were stupid for letting it get this far. they could have made a much better deal a year ago.

2. the players are going to lose. Will they be stupid and hold on into the season, or will they give in now and let us have our season next year? Thats the only question in my view.

You can choose to blame the owners for being "big fat meanos" or blame the players for being "stupid and stubborn". Whatever rows your boat.

and another thing. owners invest in their teams. players and the nflpa dont. so why should they make anywhere near 50%? hell if nflpa is getting almost half they can afford to pay players hefty pensions when they retire. im actually getting more mad at the players just thinking about it.

They are probably going to spar all summer. But whenever they come to a deal its going to be on the owners terms.

1. They will get the 18 game schedule

2. They will get a rookie salary structure

3. MOST IMPORTANT. The players will get probably between 42 and 47% of the revenues. (a huge drop from around 60% they get now.

They might as well agree today because there is probably going to be a lot of pain to get where they could get today.

i dont like the double standard about player safety, and then wanting to extend the season. on initial thought, a longer season sounds awesome, but its kind of hypocritical of goodell to change all these rules for player safety, and then say he wants to subject them to a longer season, where they risk further injury.
I mean, i dont REALLY care that much because I feel players are compensated to cope with a ****ing injury...but its still hypocritical.
Yes. Mostly agree with that. The end result of months of negotiations will end with the player's receiving a percentage in the forties to fifties. The expense for lawyers, arbitration, meetings, travel, etc could all be avoided if they settle quickly, but they wont. I cannot even fathom the owner's pomposity to add two games to the schedule and not automatically add a consistent % of pay for those two additional games.

It is a physical risk to play in the nfl. They do sacrifice their bodies. I believe the average players only receive somewhere near $550k-600k per season(Not starters?) The average career is 3.5 years. If this money is not managed properly, these guy's WILL have to work in their future. They deserve a fair shake out of this deal. The players are the NFL, the NFL is nothing without them.

Excerpt: "We are working hard to secure an agreement with the union that is fair and
forward-thinking to ensure our game is sound and strong well into the future,"
Goodell said in a league release Tuesday. "We know we will reach an agreement at
some point. We all want football without interruption, but our fans are entitled
to know now that they would receive refunds if any games are cancelled."

At least that goes for those fans with general tickets, the only ones covered
by the policy announced Tuesday. The NFL said each team will determine its
policy for club seats, suites and personal seat licenses, which are more
complicated and tied into building and financing costs. Neither the Giants nor
Jets (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/New+York+Jets) had done so yet
for the New Meadowlands

From RF's news section...I don't care about this. I want football.

Not sure I give much of a **** about what happens with the cba beyond not having football next year that would suck..But I don't seats and don't spend money on shirts or anything like that..I also think that someplayers are way over payed...but their are many I suppose making the min..which is probably where some of the players noise is coming from...Injured players should be taken care of after football especially short timers who have to leave the game because of the injury..But hey I don't that much about the whole thingso I will stop...just hope for a season

ahh dont worry about it

They are probably going to spar all summer. But whenever they come to a deal its going to be on the owners terms.

1. They will get the 18 game schedule

2. They will get a rookie salary structure

3. MOST IMPORTANT. The players will get probably between 42 and 47% of the revenues. (a huge drop from around 60% they get now.

They might as well agree today because there is probably going to be a lot of pain to get where they could get today.

There NEEDS to be a rookie salary cap like the NBA has to prevent the JaMarcus Russells of the world from setting back NFL franchises for a decade...NO way should a top five draft pick be guaranteed 40-50 million....

And the players get 60% of the revenues now...wow no wonder why the owners wanna get a new deal.

Is there a way to give the owners what they want while still ensuring that retired players from years ago are taken care of by the leauge in ways of medical expenses and a higher piece of the pie ???

IT wasn't that bad of a movie tho. Pretty freaky, but Blondie is a vagine... not to be confused with having one

yea but as a fan, especially as a fan of a team that just charged PSLs, the idea of the owners making more money sickens me.

well that's you, I have no problem with Owners making more money.

*
Basically they want to just add two games and pocket the money.* It isn't like we're going to be seeing a difference in sales prices or merch.

I get to see two more games a year, that's enough benefit for me.

So it does effect you and me in* a way. They are basically ****ing us too

It effects you because you care how much money the owners make, it doesn't effect me...cause I just don't care.

Been a while since T-Rex had ben in his true form. This is what I love to see. lol

I know what you mean, I asked myself that all last year, but it was way worth it. Sounds like you financed it thru an outside lender?

We were final last March 2010.

I seem to recall that there are only going to be 9 home games this year---In spite of the cba--if there was a full season.
