cmon now, everyone knows the Mets are the team to beat in NY. whos going to stop the dynamic duo of Mike Pelfrey and R.A ****ey?

haha! what a pathetic bunch...Going to have trouble following the Muts this year.
</p>

When you think a team has no chance is sometimes when a young team shines.</p>

Just saying.</p>

our lineup isnt bad. its the pitching that im worried about. no depth. Phillies are going to own us in our division. We'll be lucky if we can keep up with the braves/marlins.

closing again....i hate my life.
Im considering a transfer, but it wont be better elsewhere I feel, so idk....you like your job?
</P>

not really. but im tolerant of it most of the time.
I guess my main beef the past few months is that I am constantly accomdating other people's schedules and requests, changing my shifts all the time.
And when I need a day off, it's a big song and dance. Not only would nobody cover my shifts, my supervisor had to solicit coverage to replace me for the 2 days i took off last week. What does that say about my coworkers? They should kind of be embarassed that that had to be done considering the weight I pull for them.

Ok, thats my rant for the day, not that it's a long one or anything lol</P>

Sorry Pizz, you sound completely justified in your thinking. That is bs that your supervisor had to solicit coverage for your day's off ...so in essence it draws attention to your time off, but you're the good guy who covers for everyone else when they want to take off. Your co-workers should reciprocate your flexibility.
</P>

yea i TRY not to complain about it, but it makes ME look bad, even tho it SHOULD make THEM look bad...so yea it bothers me. I'm not unreasonable. I was asked again today to move my shift to a close next friday, and i agreed, but i brought up that it was BS that OF COURSE I was the one who was asked....</P>"nooo moo mr niiice guyyyie"
Dezz speaks the wise words here, but it's a double edged sword, then they look at you as the "bad guy"
who gives a ****. theyre his employees not his friends (obviously)
True, there is no friendship in being a boss, it's a lonely job.
Brings up a good theory, that you can't be friends with people who work for you. Now this conflicts with the promote from within system. If you are a worker and work in a particular department, you become friends with your co-workers, then you get a promotion and become the boss of said dept. The dynamics of the bus. relationship with your co-workers instantly changes. Of course the priority is that the job get done because it's your *** on the line for it, but if your workers think they are your friends it could be a problem.
i mean you can be friends with your employees, just act like the boss and dont take ****. their job is to make pizz's job easier, which by the sound of it, they arent.
ehhh, it's a fine line. More boss/employee relationship than friendship, I have found works better for me. I've had a worker that all of sudden stopped doing a task that they have done for years. Wtf is up with that? Then after about 3-6 months of that ****, having to remind them and pull teeth to get necessay reports, I finally have to say it outright and they get pissed off. Then I hear from another worker that this person doesn't understand why they have to do that job. That just puzzles the **** out of me.
yuuup, i had to do the same thing with my dumb coworker. shell call up our dealers and ask whats our cost for everything when they give us books to figure it out and then theyll call me or someone else here saying they cant do that all the time. its embarrassing. ANYTHING to make her job easier. ***** look it up in the book on your own. ****, when she takes out the garbage shell just leave it in the back by the bottled water we have, who does that, i drink that water.lol she never used to put it there, so i said something and she got offended. too bad, if i see its full i take it out to the dumpster. im not above taking out the garbage, and she sure as **** shouldnt be either or she can find somewhere else to work. its that simple. but when she was new shed always go the extra mile. she thinks she has us faded now. think again sista.
Yep, word.

Dustin Pedroia was the worst selection for MVP ever. And I will stand by that...

2008-Pedroia - .326 avg, 213 hits, 83 RBIs, 118 Runs, 20 SB .376 OBP----wins MVP

2006-Jeter-----.343 avg, 214 hits, 97 RBIs, 118 runs, 34 SB, .471 OBP -----wins nothing</p>

It is Most Valuable Player, not best stats...

Hey Bandy! 1000 ways to die episode(We were talking about this earlier this week):</P>

This guy liked to clean autoparts in gasoline in his living room. The gas would drip off the rag he was using and saturate his living room carpet. </P>

He had this housekeeper(a girl that he lent $ to and then forced her to clean his place for a few weeks for repayment).</P>

He told her to clean up the gas when he went out with boys. Unknow to the guy, she soaked up the gasoline with a rage squeezed the gas into a bucket and dumped the bucket in the toilet(did not flush). </P>

This guy get's home, goes to take a dump. The methane gas from his butt combined with the gasoline vapors coming off the toilet water were ignited from the ashes that he flicked off his cigarette. The force from the explosion blew the ****er right off the pot! His insides got blown up pretty good causing instant death.</P>

Not that Morneau wasnt deserving or anything...but yea, robbed...if ANYONE else in the league had Jeter's stats that year, with like 30 HRs, it would have been unanimous MVP

whats up Pizz! I haven't come on much lately. I'm trying to focus my sports energy on baseball more. This lockout has me agitated, so I'm thinking of signing up for fantasy baseball for the first time ever. I did a couple fantasy mocks last night on espn.com. Any of you in any fantasy leagues? Any tips on how to draft wisely in baseball?</P>

</P>

I've done football drafts before. Is there any particular way to go after 1 position over another in the early rds? </P>

Jeter one of the top Yankees of all time. And yes this is coming from a Mets fan. He did get robbed that year, but that happens in all sports when it comes to MVP type voting.</P>

</P>

I would rank Jeter in the top 5 to 6Yankees of all-time with the likes of the Babe, Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio and Ford. Thats not to slight Yogi or Reggie, which would rank up there as well.</P>

tony, here's my fantasy baseball strat....

get the BEST infield you can!! there is an EXTREME shortage of stud second basemen, shortstops, and third basemen. Yet an abundance of good first basemen.
If you work your draft well, you can have 3 of your 4 infielders as pretty good players.

Depending on the league you are in(standard setup), you probably only have the following:
C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, UTIL
SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P and 4 to 5 bench spots

It is because of this, that I go VERY pitcher heavy, and sometimes dont even carry closers on my roster. reasoning? the only specific stat closers get you is saves, even if they have 2 appearances on the week, 2 saves, and give up no runs, their Ks and lowered ERA barely affect your matchup numbers. So instead, I take alot of starting pitchers. more wins, more quality starts, more strikeouts, and you let them dictate your ERA for the week. giving up ONE stat(saves) to gain all those others? yea i'll take that, thx. Plus, you can TRY to win in saves, and still lose, and risk giving up all those other stats, and thats just stupid.

SOOOOO...since i have so many starting pitchers, i carry only1 bench hitter. why you ask? Well, because every team should be playing AT LEAST 6 games a week, and your batters will likely always be in your fantasy lineup. so when someone is out, say an outfileder, no big deal, you just plug your bench player in. there are a few good players who are eligible for multiple infield positions, and also outfield, and those are gold cuz you can put them anywhere.</P>

other various advice...

dont be threatened by youyr peers draft trends. if some guy drafts 3 stud pitchers in a row, and doesnt touch an infielder till the 5th round? it's his funeral. what good is dominating 3 or 4 pitching categories, if you will lose every hitting category. and dont freak out when ppl start pulling Mariano, Wilson, and all the good closers off the board. dont try to jump on board just because they are...
if you dont follow my train of thought about abandoning closers, or taking only 1 maybe, well, thats fine, but there are alot of closers out there who's name isnt Mariano Rivera, and remember, in fantasy, it's only 1 stat...

The Yankees had to make a move with Granderson hurt. </P>

somewhat surprised with a few of the decisions this week. i guess i understand the mitre trade, although i liked him. if grandy misses time, we need at least 1 backup still, since we only have Andruw Jones....so we need someone</P>

tony, here's my fantasy baseball strat....

get the BEST infield you can!! there is an EXTREME shortage of stud second basemen, shortstops, and third basemen.

I took Neftali Feliz as my sole closer this year, full well knowing he could be a starter OR a closer, and not caring, cuz i would have taken either. lol

if there's anything else i can remember, i will post later.</p>this was my first year and i dont think i did to good. do you have to bid in your league? that killed.

we do the default draft setup for online draft. which is where the order is selected by the computer 45 mins prior to draft. that way nobody can get too comfortable with their draft spot. and it's a snake draft. where the 10th pick gets the 1st pick in the 2nd round</P>

next year we should do a league here. none of that bull**** made up stuff matt does tho, that's incredibly lame....

basically in normal leagues your team faces another team every week, monday thru sunday..
you have whatever categories you want, but standard is AVG., HRs, RBIs, Runs, OPS, strikeouts(batters), Stolen Bases, and then in pitching you have Wins, Losses, ERA, Ks, WHIP, Saves, and maybe Quality Starts.
so thats, what...14 categories....so over the course of the week, lets say I have better stats in 10 out of 14 of those categories, and you only won 4...so i win the matchup, but the long term effect is:
My record becomes 10-4-0 in the standings, and yours becomes 4-10-0

make sense?</P>

JPizzack
03-26-2011, 02:45 PM
there's also head 2 head POINTS, where every stat has a point value, and whoever has the most points at the end of the week wins, much like fantasy football...
and rotisserie(which is ghey) where you have a rolling point total, so every day your stats increase +/-
hard to explain that one, but its stupid, dont worry =P

if i were to guess, those guys will have similar stats at 3B, so its all good.

There's only a handful of good 3B, like i was saying earlier.
Wright, Longoria, Zimmerman, A-Rod, Youk....everyone else is serviceable, but not awesome.

Like, in my team, Hanley, Ryan Howard, Phillips, i consider them all among tops in their positions, but I took Aramis Ramirez at 3B MUCH later in the draft, and he's definitely serviceable at that position.</P>

Jeter one of the top Yankees of all time.* And yes this is coming from a Mets fan.* He did get robbed that year, but that happens in all sports when it comes to MVP type voting.</p>

*</p>

<font color="#0000ff">I would rank Jeter in the top 5 to 6*Yankees of all-time with the likes of the Babe, Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio and Ford.* Thats not to slight Yogi or Reggie, which would rank up there as well.</font></p>

it sucks having a horse in this race... I actually like all final 4 teams.

I like Calipari - he is all that is evil with college sports so I like him

Butler and VCU are just awesome stories. Its going to be hard not to cheer for them

UCONN - the lonely BEAST team who have taken the hardest road ever to the final 4....

god I hope they win it all to shut the ACC fans i know up

im on your side, i hope... But I think it eventually has to happen...

Typically Big East Teams don't make it through the tournament because of the season and Beast tournament. They were playing since day 1 of the big east tournament, won it and are no in the final 4.

Some poeple like to make the argument that they are young boys and have the spark, but history speaks for itself

combined with the most diverse interests. How did the guitar tryouts go Friday nite?
</p>

They were both better than me. </p>

and who got the job?
</p>

Well I would like to see the guy who came who plays the bass. It allows our current bass player to play lead guitar and then we have a real band. Drummer, bass, rhythm guitar and lead guitar.</p>

The other guitar player was the son of the bass player. I don't think he will have the time to play with us.</p>

The real question, is Dave "the really good bass player" willing to play with us.</p>

There's more drama with our band than in this MB.</p>

What are some of the Drama issues? Sounds like the Sammy Hagar interview I heard last week, lol. If Dave tried out, that would indicate that he's interested. Why wouldn't he play with you guy's?
</p>

Well I wasn't happy with the rehearsal. We had a set playlist and I've been working hard for two weeks on it, and these two guys (very nice guys) kinda took over the rehearsal. We didn't end up playing many of our songs at all. There are some issues with whats going on. I think we need more structure and we keep going off on tangents.</p>

Its a bit frustrating right now.</p>ah, You spent alot of time on a playlist that you and the other's see as the future image for the band. Sounds like Rockstar with Mark Wahlberg. You need to let them know, YOU, run the show. God Dam Guitar players!

Huskies/Kentucky will be a great game. I would feel better if we didn't already beat them this year.

yea its set up perfectly I think. There is going to be one underdog in and then the Kentucky/Uconn battle will be epic'

Celts losing to Bobcats and Grizz

not enough fire power

Celtics are gearing up for the playoffs. They are treating these last few weeks more like pre season.</p>

yea theres nothing wrong with covers but to do just the same ol same ol sucks..

i got a band i follow that covers In the Air tonite, but they do like the pepped up metal version of. They are covering it from like Nonpoint or someone like that did their own cover.

Something like that is cool... but otherwise its been done. Since you guys are older, honestly no offense, why don't you try to take a newer song you all like and put it your own classic rock spin on it. Kind of Johnny Cash'ish covering Nine Inch Nails (just please not that slow, even though that was an awesome cover)

and who got the job?
</p>

There's more drama with our band than in this MB.</p>

uhg

everybody is a rockstar. Thats why I dont promote anymore lol
</p>

Well thats not really whats going on. I'm just trying to get better and I like playing with musicians who are better than me. But I don't just want to do what every other cover band does. I liked the fact that we were playing some songs that weren't right out of the "cover band playbook".</p>

I want to play some original songs, because the songwriting aspect is what I'm most interested in. I worked hard to learn a song written by another guy in the band to show good faith. But we just got off the track Friday.</p>

haha im just trying to push your buttons

let me guess they are trying the ol Rockin in the Free World - Fortunate Son cover combo? lol
</p>

"Down by the River" Close enough. Byron would like it though.</p>

</p>

yea theres nothing wrong with covers but to do just the same ol same ol sucks..

i got a band i follow that covers In the Air tonite, but they do like the pepped up metal version of.

</p>

I agree. Its fun to change a song a little bit to make it more interesting.</p>

We have a nice version of "Last Day Of Our Aquaintance" that is much more bluesy.</p>

We also play a much faster paced version of "House of the Rising Sun".</p>

But Morehead wants to play some Morehead songs. </p>

i hear ya... just ask them if the want to be an original band with some covers or a cover band wtih some originals...

that should settle it
</p>

I'm OK right now with being a cover band that plays some originals. And then see where that takes us. Bands can evolve.</p>

But we have to play SOME original songs for it to be worth it to me.</p>Moorehead and Old Guns

nice haha.</P>

weekend was somewhat uneventful, i had to work saturday....

well, on saturday night I went out to my old stomping grounds, a bar I use to frequent multiple times a week when i was in my prime(lol).
They are closing the place for good. the owners finally sold it, but new ownership is changing it completely. making some bbq joint.
we had close friends who worked there for a few years, we used to go to dinner early, so we didnt get carded, and stay there to booze when we were underage, and then once we were of age, our friends started bartending there, so we were there like every other night FOR YEARS.
So we have alot of memories being lost with the name change....
and those friends who worked there who have since moved were just as depressed as we are..lol</P>

We had a bar right down the mountain from my parents house that would serve us when we were young. I was caught right at the drinking age change. I remember being legal at 18 for a short time and then not being able to drink(legally) until 21.
This bar, my whole crew kind of came of age at. It was a tavern with back rooms that used to be used for food, but were no longer. So we took the liberty of using them for other purposes(?). We basically ran that place for 5-10 years, knew all the bartenders, hooked the bartenders up(probably 40 yr old guy's) with whatever connections they needed and got ourselves free entry and booze in return. Great times in that place. I met my wife there as a matter of fact....I remember she came in with this girl that I used to know one night 24 years ago. I was on that like white on rice....rest is history. I played darts for that place, had t-shirts made up. Really cool. It burned down a few years back.

i would assume that this place will be there for quote a long time. It's on the same road as the main vein of Vassar College campus, and the town is very determined to leave everything the same in the area. so it's kind of a landmark...kinda. bar has been there since the 50s apparently.</P>

I will be 45 and within the last 2 years it has been slowly deteriorating. Pick a bodypart, any bodypart and they alternate with pain, aching or whatever. knee, ankle, feet, fingers, wrist, neck, upper back, lower back, ***, hip, shoulders. By working out all my life, I never really knew what was old age pain and what was workout pain. NOW I know.

NEW YORK—An adolescent Egyptian cobra slithered away from its enclosure
on Saturday afternoon, leading Bronx Zoo officials to lock down the
Reptile <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD5">House</span>. The snake is 20-inches-long and full of poisonous venom, but the zookeepers are confident that it will not roam far from <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD6">home</span>.

“Based on our knowledge of the natural history and behavior of snakes,
we know they seek closed-in spaces and are not comfortable in open
areas. We are confident that the snake … is contained in a non-public

The zoo is working hard to find the snake and to inform the public about the fugitive reptile.

A pet Egyptian cobra escaped in an <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD2">apartment</span>

Prevailing theories of the snake's fate include:

- Carmen Sandiego took him and now some kids on a PBS game show need to
find him using logic, trivia, and an all-men's a cappella group

- It's in your toilet, right now

- He was spirited away by the ghost of Elizabeth Taylor, an inaccurate
Cleopatra taking an inaccurate snake with her into the afterlife.</p>

Seen leaving the scene was a man who looked a lot like Samuel L.
Jackson, muttering something about being "tired of all these
mother****ing snakes in all these mother****ing zoos."</p>

haha yea thats what they would want you to believe... the snake is contained in a non public aka out in the public area within the building. btw..how can a snake be contained if THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THE SNAKE IS? lol rant over.

You see the thing about Showalter's dig at Theo Epstein? lol...

He's like "I'd like to seehow smart he iswith Tampa Bay's payroll....the only reason they have Crawford is because they paid him what nobody else even wanted to, and that makes you smarter??"

yea and his shot at Jeter, I heard yesterday that Jeter leads the leagues on inside pitches that are called strikes which are really balls....

from espn

I can't possibly fathom how that was put together, but alrighty then

Huskies/Kentucky will be a great game. I would feel better if we didn't already beat them this year.

yea its set up perfectly I think. There is going to be one underdog in and then the Kentucky/Uconn battle will be epic'

Celts losing to Bobcats and Grizz

not enough fire power
</p>

Celtics are gearing up for the playoffs. They are treating these last few weeks more like pre season.</p>

Doc knows what he's doing. (I think)</p>

goddd do i hope the thunder knock out the Lakers

I would LOOOVE to own lando lol

Bet you would Bud, you have been waiting years for that....Unfortunately for you that is not going to happen. 15-1 since the break, OH SNAP

No one can stop the 3peat

u better watch urself MDW

You better watch

any shot the finals happen during that weekend? Or is that too late

Probably too early...WCF's for sure

PERRRFECT

i'll be rockin either my Birdman or my Durant as SOON as i see you

Why would you sport an eliminated team?

well i more than likely have my durant on...

and hopfully we are together for a game 7....

doubtful...perhaps if he played on a better team where his production would turn into actual run production. but even then its hard to justify. guys like ichiro require more team around them to make his production worth something. getting on base and stealing second every at bat only helps if you can touch home plate once in awhile. poor mariners =\</P>

UConn/Kentucky was one early season game.</p>

The Celtics fundamentally own Miami. Bosh will fall into the fetal position thrying to scrap with KG and Big Baby. </p>

Lets keep it real Matt.</p>

Anyway, worry about your team, the last time they won we weren't at war with Libya yet.</p>

correct me if im wrong but weren't half the games the first half of the season?

if thats built ur confidence to the level its at now, then its sad that ur going to make me enjoy Lebron beating ur mutts

</p>

Why do you argue with me over silly points? The Celtics own Miami. Deal with it.</p>

And they beat Cleveland last year in the playoffs when Cleveland had the best record in basketball.</p>

cuz ur better than that..

Miami will be Boston in a 7 game series 4-2

let me rephrase that....

I can't wait for basketball to not be the worst professional sport again, soat least there is substance to our "in between" season talks.</P>

Fridays collapse by Boston against Charlotte marked the first time in the Celtics HISTORY that they lost to a team 10 or more games under .500 after leading by 10 or more to start the 4th.... WOW Matt might be onto something

They will NOT make it out of the east
</P>

I have been saying that for some time now, Morehead seems to disagree</P>

</P>

I'd say its about 45/55 the Celtics get to the NBA finals. Right now, a war is setting up for the conference finals with Chicago.</P>

As it stands now, the Celtics would get Miami in the 2nd round. Its actually better for the Celtics if they finish 2nd in the conference.</P>

I think you are right.

The only way Boston can keep up with Miami's speed is if KG, Allen and Pierce are all putting up 25 a night.
Other than that I gotta agree with Matt on this. I don't see Boston pulling that off, and they are playing like a JV basketball team lately. So unless they are being unsportsmanlike, and throwing games, this team is DOA come playoffs.</P>

Nope, because Miami already won 4 games to bawstin's 2 games. There's no need for a 7th game in this 7 game series. unless of course you would like to play the 7th game knowing that there is no way you can win. seems pretty demoralizing if you ask me though.</P>
