wait, werent you the one also arguing that Posada wasnt THAT bad behind the plate? lol
Despite throwing out 14% of runners lol *cough*careerlow*cough*still calls a great game. why do you think boston kept verteck around?
</p>

moral support, since he never played? 112 ABs? yea ok...</p>

his average is garbage from 06 on. they kept him cause he calls a good game. dont make me call mh in on this one. i feel gross just talking about the sox and mh.
</p>

uhhh you brought it up....why would I give a **** about Varitek?
Posada is old....and far past his prime, i mean i guess you could argue it, but youd be wrong.
anyway...im getting ready to leave. so, pizzout</p>

im making the point that posoda still has some value to the yanks

<u>
with his bat... and with power</u>... thats it

hes not hitting for average at all and<u> he sucks behind the plate</u>...
yes

throwing people out isnt the most important trait for a catcher. again why would the sox keep veritek around all these year? veritek threw out 13% of runners in 09. hes actually never been good at throwing people out.

because his pitchers actually like him?
lol who besides aj doesnt like posada?
</p>

Morehead</p>exactly.

well we have to make the decision.. we just got Yogi Berra Stadium at Montclair State mentioned to us so its kind of changed our thinking from using a mid-size venue.

Plenty of Affordable rap groups, i would like to have the Disco Biscuits play just because they have a weird Greatful Dead type following. But the average rock band and show... its been hard to find somebody local, affordable, and that still has some pop.

Moose is a jerkoff

him and Michael Kay have had some type of fued where they didn't like each other but Micheal Kay told a story last week that like when Moose first came to the yanks and Bob Sheppard came up to him and asked him how his name is actually pronounced. Moose wrote him off and just said I don't care and then turned his back to him... ****in ******

I also heard a good story from Eric Karros about one of his teammates in like 03 on the Dodgers. Tyler something. The guy was like 3 or 4 more at bats at hitting an incentive in his contract with three weeks left and was the every day starter... the coach benched him for the rest of the season lol..

i figured i'd bring it up cuz we sometimes talk about that, whether ownership will inflict on management to keep a player out to save money... always figured they kinda did at some capacity but its kind of weird to hear it actually happening

They were doing player intros at the Cavs/Heat game, and lebron claimed he was in the bathroom when they announced him, so he wasnt there to take the boos =P

i stand behind that comment

He really is. Who has ever in the history of the NBA has done that. He really should be fined. Then to not even man up but instead to lie and say he needed to use the bathroom. Lol yeah, cause you didn't know when the game started. I hate hin so much. People with fire inside them live for that, they relish the boos. I know Kobe does...Lebron is a coward, but we all knew that already with his FA fiasco

But the minute Garcia gets lit up — and it'll happen — look for the calls for Kevin Millwood to begin. And then when Millwood gets lit up, look for the calls for a trade to begin. This is going to be happening all year. And let's not forget who the No. 2 starter is.</p>

BULLPEN</p>

RHP Joba Chamberlain

RHP David Robertson
RHP Rafael Soriano</p>

Colon, having placed in the derby, has the long-man role, <font color="#1f638a">much to the chagrin of some</font> (http://riveraveblues.com/2011/03/my-fifth-starter-mini-rant-45279/). </P>

</P>

</P>

LINEUP</P>

SS Derek Jeter
RF Nick Swisher
1B Mark Teixeira
3B Alex Rodriguez
2B Robinson Cano
DH Jorge Posada
CF Curtis Granderson
C Russell Martin
LF Brett Gardner</P>

We would go under the "<FONT color=#1f638a>Jeter leads off vs. lefties, Gardner vs. righties</FONT> (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/25/sports/baseball/25yankees.html)" idea, but we have a sense Joe Girardi will ultimately back off it, at least for Opening Day. (If just because it keeps the slow Martin out of the nine hole.) That's just a guess, though: The spring lineup today <FONT color=#1f638a>had Gardner leading off</FONT> (http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2011/03/29/gardner-leading-off-in-spring-finale/). Granderson should be ready for opening day, though <FONT color=#1f638a>we'll know for sure tomorrow</FONT> (http://aol.sportingnews.com/mlb/story/2011-03-29/yankees-curtis-granderson-to-test-sore-oblique-in-preparation-for-opener). We know many are forecasting disappointment for the Yankees this year, but boy, that lineup is still pretty fantastic. Particularly if Jesus Montero is the Yankees catcher by mid-season.</P>

BENCH</P>

Eric Chavez
Chris ****erson
Andruw Jones
Gustavo Molina
Eduardo Núñez</P>

Some of this may depend on whether Granderson is healthy or not, but Chavez, improbably, and Núñez have <FONT color=#1f638a>definitely made the team</FONT> (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/2011/03/29/2011-03-29_yankees_keep_eric_chavez_eduardo_nunez_option_j esus_montero_and_austin_romine_to.html). Gustavo Molina beat out youngsters Montero and Austin Romine, though he'll be shipped out once Francisco Cervilli is back from the DL. Gustavo is not related to the family of Molina catchers, by the way.</P>

ROTATION</P>

1. CC Sabathia
2. A.J. Burnett
3. Phil Hughes
4. Ivan Nova
5. Freddy Garcia</P>

We had this conversation before. Why do we need to relive it?</P>

As I said back then, free agency is an important part of supplimenting your team. Its almost impossible to win without using the free agent market. There is a HUGE different between signing a free agent to fill a hole and signing the three most expensive free agents in the same year in order to satisfy a new owner. There are consiquences down the road to that kind of financial commitment.</P>

Essentially the Yankees spend over $400MM on 3 players. Thats fine but don't try to compare Crawford to those three.</P>

If you need to though, I want you to be happy. </P>

Theo has a record of wise decisions in the FA market. the Yankees have a history of reckless decisions.</P>

As I said back then, free agency is an important part of supplimenting your team. Its almost impossible to win without using the free agent market. There is a HUGE different between signing a free agent to fill a hole and signing the three most expensive free agents in the same year in order to satisfy a new owner. <u>There are consiquences down the road to that kind of financial commitment.</u></p>

Essentially the Yankees spend over $400MM on 3 players. Thats fine but don't try to compare Crawford to those three.</p>

If you need to though, I want you to be happy. </p>

Theo has a record of wise decisions in the FA market. the Yankees have a history of reckless decisions.</p>like winning world series'?

boston competes with the yanks in EVERY major deal that goes down, and they have more than enough money to beat the yanks in any deal and they have a few times. its all about whos willing to spend more.

As we all know, and if you dont you will now, the MLB draft is a major ****up. It is to the point that teams have to pass on better talents because they know they won't be able to sign them. Why would I care what the Red Sox paid for Crawford?</p>

all of your ranting and raving about what the yankees did for all these years and then you guys try to do the same thing

its beautiful to see you go back on everything u've said...
142 million on an outfielder thats never hit 20 hrs, over 100 runs only 3 times in his career, it really is ridiculous
He'll probably have 40hr's this year Dezzplaying on that little league field they use down there..</p>

I laugh at MH justifying Boston's expenditures.</P>

As we all know, and if you dont you will now, the MLB draft is a major ****up. It is to the point that teams have to pass on better talents because they know they won't be able to sign them. This, of course, is where the Red Sox swoop in. Because they have the extra money they get to draft the best players and subsequently pay them.</P>

Obviously, the Yankees spend more than Boston overall, but dont chastise us with some greater than thou gimmick when it is easily seen that Boston uses its wealth to make it harder on other teams just as much as the Yankees. They're just better at hiding it.</P>

That said-</P>

Too bad neither of those teams are reigning or defending champs, whichever you want to call it. [;)]</P>Not too much to hide there. In a few weeks when they finalize Adrian Gonzalez' contract extension, they will have roughly 300 million tied up on him and Crawford.

Good luck defending this year. Enjoy it while it last's.........lol.

Wellington Mara ,the greatest owner in football, you say???

Well here is a chance for you to own proof for all to see.- Place here in NH. called RR Auctions has a signed letter from Mr. Mara that was sent to a fan. From what i understand, some fan sent a autograph request to the team for Rosey Brown. I guess Rosey was away on a scouting trip and Mr. Mara sent a letter to the fan telling him that he would see to it that Rosey would send him a autograph when he got back. If you do go check it out, while you are there, check out the items of Smokin Joe Wood and Bill Terry. Imagine that, an athlete sending a letter back to the fan saying how sorry they were that they did not have a picture to sign and return to the fan. I miss those days of getting reponses to my through the mail autograph requests.......

Speaking of TTM autograph requests, I sent one out to Lebron James a few months back asking very nicely that he sign a card for the girls. I even mentioned that he could write the names of the girls on it to assure that it would not end up on e-bay.........We got a typed clubhouse attendant letter (same one everybody gets) with pointers on how to shoot free throws...

I tore up the card and sent it back with a VERY nice letter. I do not believe that we will be hearing from Mr. James any time soon...lol.

haha dude that is awesome!!

Last year, when I got all my baseball cards back out of my stepfather's rental property, in one of my binders, wereall the notes, photos, letters, postcards that get sent back when the players cant sign everything, or just dont sign everything. I can't remember all the ones I have, but Grant Hill and Reggie Miller stick out in my memory. It's cool that even if players dont sign things, someone has thought it out enough to at least send something back. lol</P>

Maybe I missed it, but I have not seen anyone mention the Barry Bonds trial.</p>

The guy holds the single season and all time hr records. Does it matter to any of youthat these records were attained with the assistance of performance enhancing drugs?</p>

The way I see it, his trial is about lying to a grand jury. It does not appear that his name will ever be stricken from the record books.</p>

</p>

RANDY VELARDE!!! SAY IT AINT SO!

Hey Fellas!!! Dezz's game starts at 1:05 --who's gonna win today?

Finally coming up for Air...whewwww!!! Fast moving day and a half at work. So much happened, my brain is still trying to catch up with it all. The fruit of 3 mo's of work was installed yesterday--and appears to be functioning accurately. There will be bumps along the way, but the lions share of the work is complete. ....

Former Yankees IF Randy Velarde said Wednesday he bought human growth hormone from Barry Bonds
' personal trainer throughout the 2002 season, making him the fourth
major leaguer to admit drug use during Bonds' perjury trial in San
Francisco. </p>

Velarde, 48, said the HGH gave him more "endurance and strength" and personal trainer Greg Anderson would help him inject the performance-enhancing drug. </p>

i don't get why Martin is batting 9th when ur gonna put granderson 8th

makes no sense to me
</P>

What is there not to understand?</P>

</P>

why wouldn't you put the speed 9th?
</P>

Martin is no Granderson, but has some speed for a catcher.</P>

I believe it is a numbers game with the lineup, first game of the season, just seeing what he has. </P>

cuz today they have speed on the front end with gardner.
I would assume its just to be more balanced than anything. lengthens the lineup a little bit.</P>

Ooh, that smell . . . </p>

One whiff of a pot-stinking SUV driver
was all the probable cause a DEA agent needed to bring down a massive
upstate pot-growing operation. </p>

"These guys stank; it was coming
out of their pores," one investigator said of the 15 people busted
yesterday in connection with the alleged hydroponic farm run out of
seven Sullivan County homes. </p>

"They stunk out loud," he said. "They were very pungent." </p>

</p>

DEA agents, NYPD cops and members of the Sullivan County
Sheriff's office wore protective gear to avoid getting contact highs
from the veritable forest of 6,300 pot plants with a street value of $20
million taken from the homes. </p>

It all started Tuesday, when DEA agent Kenneth Walsey approached
the passengers of an SUV outside a suspected grow house in Mamakating
and noticed the vehicle smelled like a Grateful Dead (http://www.nypost.com/t/Grateful_Dead)concert. </p>

Another suspect, Mainor Goody-Bernal, then pulled up in a Lincoln Town Car (http://www.nypost.com/t/Lincoln_Town_Car)and had marijuana crumbs on his shirt, the complaint alleges. </p>

Agents called in the pungent aroma, and quickly got their search warrant, sources said. </p>

"This seizure, the largest indoor marijuana grow operation of its kind
in New York, exemplifies the sophistication with which these groups
operate," DEA Special Agent in Charge John Gilbride said. "Marijuana
remains a significant source of illegal income for drug-trafficking
groups in the New York area." </p>

The plants would account for the equivalent of 3 million joints, according to DEA spokeswoman Erin McKenzie-Mulvey. </p>

Investigators had been casing one of the secluded grow houses in the
woods due to the "extraordinary electric usage" billed to the home,
according to a federal criminal complaint. </p>

After sniffing the
passengers out of the car, investigators found more than 700 marijuana
plants in that house. Informants then provided the locations of the six
other grow houses, each protected by locked iron gates uncharacteristic
of the area, the complaint alleges. </p>

Most of those arrested were illegal immigrants from South and Central America hired to harvest the crop, sources said. </p>

Due to the immensity of the haul, investigators could not take the
plants to the agency's lab in Chelsea, law-enforcement sources said.
Instead, they will be housed in an undisclosed location in Brooklyn. </p><div style="overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;">

He's No. 1, all right -- Staten Island's No. 1 problem child. </p>

Pipsqueak punk Osman Daramy was all obnoxious smiles and obscene
gestures yesterday as he was hauled into court on hate-crime charges for
allegedly assaulting and trying to rip off the religious headdress of a
female Muslim classmate. </p>

The 11-year-old Osman -- whose own
mother is a Muslim -- had taunted the 13-year-old girl during one
assault, saying, "Aren't you the Muslim girl we beat up? We'll beat you
up again," a prosecutor alleged yesterday. </p>

"It was not one
incident. It was a continued course of behavior," Assistant District
Attorney Teresa Wilson told a Staten Island Family Court judge a day
after Osman's arrest. </p>

Two months ago,
Osman and a 13-year-old female accomplice punched and kicked the Muslim
girl and tried to rip off her hijab outside Dreyfus Intermediate School
in Stapleton, prosecutors said. </p>

The verbal harassment of the girl resumed over the past several weeks, most recently Sunday, they said. </p>

Judge Helene Sacco -- saying the evidence showed Osman could commit
another crime -- ordered him held without bail until his next court
appearance Tuesday. </p>

He faces up to 18 months in a juvenile facility if convicted of assault and harassment as hate crimes. </p>

Osman's dad, Frank Davies, sobbed as his scrawny son was brought into
court with silver handcuffs around his tiny wrists and later walked out
in ankle shackles. </p>

Davies said the boy, who was born in a
Sierra Leonean refugee camp and brought to the United States when he was
6 months old, has a Muslim mother. </p>

"How could a Muslim have another hate crime against a Muslim?" he asked. </p><div style="overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;">

I like Osi, I say we keep him for sure. I will be very surprised if Jpp does not run wild this year. I'm sure that kid is staying in shape and ready for his 2nd year as a pro.
