The new stadium is nice but it has no charm. baseball stadiums have to have charm with me.
Football is different.</P>
Its not your experience I question, its your judgement.</P>
</P>
It all kinda makes sense now tho....seeing as how it's in boston...
the stadium is very historic....it's also very ugly.
instead of ever changing anything or ever building a new stadium, it follows suit with it's fans attitude.
Holier-than-thou.....we think we're better, so we're going to keep our old ugly stadium because it's all we have.</P>
the hipsters of major league baseball</P>
</P>
Its beautiful.</P>

Yankee Stadium, Camden Yards(O's), The Jake(The Tribe), Target Field(Twins), Safeco(M's), Case Field(AZ), Minute Maid(Astros), Dodger Stadium, Turner Field(ATL), Petco (Pads), and Citifield.
Probably Busch Stadium, and Candelstick(or whatever they call it now)too....
Those are among my favorites. I've only been to both Yankees Stadiums, Shea, The Jake, Turner Field, and Camden.
The worst have to be:
Great American(Cinci), Phins Stadium(yes i know its a football stadium), Comerica(Det), Rangers Ballpark, Fenway,Tropicana, and <font size="5">Rogers Centre</font> .....(INNNN no particular order.)</p>when was that? i'm guessin it was to watch the yanks, if there was a fat drunk guy harrassin you, good chance it was probably me lol
and yes the RC is a horrible stadium

I find the state of the lock-out very interesting...almost corrupt. Is it co-incidence that the Judge is ruling on a stay 2days before the Draft or that if players are allowed to enter training facilities today, they will be eligible for their training bonuses? Idk. Opening things up for the draft, enabling trades and free agency will be a benefit. Getting the player some cash to help get them thru the next few months is good also.
I could be wrong, but it she grants the stay, there was a favor done somewhere along the legal process line.

Or for a change of pace-take the Taconic to RT 55 to RT 22 straight to branch. I was out Sat afternoon and I tried to stop in there, but they were closed. I guess not all branches were open Sat?

but that also wasn't the main point of ur case. It was the success joba showed in the bullpen, then u followed up the arguments with how Jobas arm blew out from attempting to become a starter

sure..joba was great in the bullpen.....in 2007....
this isnt 2007....since then, Joba has either been mediocre, or just straight bad....
I'm sure the majority wanted to see him as a starter originally....he was the most exciting young pitcher we had in a very long time. But he broke....and it didnt even take a month for him to break down. he was just BAD

Well statistically Joba wasn't as bad as you guys make it sound. In fact for how much success you guys say Hughes had in last year starting, he really didn't have a real dominating year in comparison to jobas...
and don't bother qouting wins... run support is a dominating quality in whether a team wins or loses.
Hughes had a good year but he still had a 4.20 era. Joba has like a 4.75 ERA.
its just the overall point of it all. The double standard you guys throw for Hughes. Point is, it looks like his arm is in worse condition than Joba's ever was. But yet none of you ever called for Hughes to stay in the pen...
its ironic

contract year and he lives 5 minutes from the stadium

yea he lives in these bangin condos in clifton. I'd say less than 5 miles
Well Alrighty! They let players inside today?

so if any of these guys had half a sense they would be in the facilities trying to earn bonuses

My thoughts exactly. Some players have decent bonuses-250k, etc. If lockout remains lifted, even if only thru the draft, it is the perfect opportunity for teams to maximize trades for early round picks-and some FA movement.

but that also wasn't the main point of ur case. It was the success joba showed in the bullpen, then u followed up the arguments with how Jobas arm blew out from attempting to become a starter
i'd say Hughes is traveling a road paved by Joba
</p>
sure..joba was great in the bullpen.....in 2007....
this isnt 2007....since then, Joba has either been mediocre, or just straight bad....
I'm sure the majority wanted to see him as a starter originally....he was the most exciting young pitcher we had in a very long time. But he broke....and it didnt even take a month for him to break down. he was just BAD
</p>
and yet when he finished the year, his numbers were not that must significantly worse than what Hughes ended with. But there is no uproar about how Hughes finished cuz u guys still had cumshots gargling in the back of your throats from the first half lol.....

Joba is better in the bullpen....i dont question that.
if you remember, in 08, Joba went from 98-100 down to barely touching 90mph. it was hard to stomach. He progressively got better velocity, but not like 07's stuff, which is ok, it happens.

for the record, as i'm sure ive said before....I'm all about letting your "best" pitchers out of the bullpen and start if thats how they came up to the league. For the Yankees, it's only happened a few times anyway, but it's all trial and error, with Joba it didnt work, and if Hughes stays the way he is, it worked but then of course now doesnt...I dont believe in pitch counts, i dont believe in limited innings.
However I do feel there is such thing as overworking a pitcher in the long term. everyone deserves days off as relievers, and extra days off as a starter maybe too. There are very few pitchers who can even function on short rest. CC can do it, but it's definitely rare.

I disagree, the problem was not letting him get a feel out there on the mound. He never knew where he stood on the roster. One day he was a starter, then bullpen. Just let them pitch!!!!</p>
<u>see i agree with both of you...
it could of been a mistake trying to let him become a pitcher... but if ur going to let him be a starter let him be a starter. Pop the tit out of his mouth</u>

for the record, as i'm sure ive said before....I'm all about letting your "best" pitchers out of the bullpen and start if thats how they came up to the league.
</p>
ehhh
im starting to believe more and more with pitch counts. I think older vets who know how to throw and maintain their body... not so much
but young guys like Hughes and Joba - have some type of protection with it but don't get out of control with the rules like they did with Joba. Then looking back at hughes numbers, we should of had a lil more protection for him. 20 games where he threw over 100 pitches, its hard to justify that in a guys first year

while thats true, Hughes got a full year as a starter last year. One would have to think that his arm issues were from the work last year
Hughes was nasty in relief as well...
</p>
dude you cant just keep all your awesome bullpen pitchers in the bullpen. they all started as starting pitchers SOMEWHERE....it's natural progression for like 90% of pitchers coming up.
Some players work out, some dont....i was on board with both players being starters....if it was a bad decision, fine...then they shouldnt have been starters to begin with. there's no way to know that in advance.</p>
i agree
i just think its funny how some will kill the ynaks for what they did with joba and then not speak with the same fire about whats going on with Hughes.
They pretty much have taken the same exact road, except IMO Hughes seems to be in worse condition than Joba ever was right now

yea dude, that was pretty public around the 04-05 season when A-Rod got here. Cuz they were really tight when A-Rod was in Seattle, like BFFs(lol)!! But kinda grew apart, and then when he was brought here, there was a falling out. As far as I know though, it didn't last very long. OK. Since I'm leaving tomorrow I must make my prediction for our first round pick. Of course it seems that I am the only one here who ever has the guts to predict anything (I'm still standing by my pick of 102 wins for the Sox).</P>
If Costanzo is there I say he will be the pick.</P>
If not, I'm predicting Mark Ingram.</P>

This is my prediction, not my hope. My hope is Jimmy Smith. The reality is that there is no one except D lineman and Ingram with value at 19 if Costanzo isn't there. And I will slit my wrists if we draft another D lineman # 1.</P>
Have a great trip MH--I hope Constanzo is there, but have a feeling that he will not be.

I don't think so either. Maybe the Cowboys will take him.</P>

Girardi is known for over working pitchers. </p>
He did it in Florida, and has been doing it in NY. </p>
i can't say i agree wtih that cuz then i'd be a hypocrit
I killed him for NOT letting Joba throw like a real starter
they let Hughes pitch man... if he can't handle the load then he can't be pitcher. Hes been getting babied for a couple of years now, he had his shot and now he has dead arm...
personally i think its something to really worry about.
they treated hughes just like joba. they usually took him out after the 6th. the dead arm is not from over use, its probably cause he was under used.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/28638/year/2010/phil-hughes
thats not true, in 20 of his 30 starts he threw over 100 pitches - 8 of those games were into the 7th
games he didn't throw 100 pitches
game 1 - 99 pitches, threw 7 innings
game 2 - 99 pitches, threw 7 innings
game 3 - 94 pitches, 5.2 innings 10 hits, 6 ER
game 4 - 98 pitches, 5 innings, 9 hits
go loo kat the rest lol
i think you need to re look at those numbers, he was taken out in the 6th or before 22 times last year. talk about babying a pitcher.
i dont see how u can get babying just from seeing the innings
are u not lookin at how many pitches he had?
April 15 - 5.0 innings 108 pitches
April 27 - 5.2 innings 109 pitches
May17 - 5.0 innings 104 pitches
May 22 - 5.2 innings 117 pitches
June 8 - 6.0 innings 10 hits 102 pitches
June 13 - 5.2 innings 110 pitches
June 29 - 5.2 innings 94 pitches (10 hits 6 ER)
July 4 - 6 innings 101 pitches
July 20 - 5.0 innings 98 pitches (9 hits 6 ER)
July 30 - 6.0 innings 104 pitches
theres like 2 games in august when he got pulled a lil early but how can uy say he was babied with those games?
i dont care about the pitch count. when girardis babying a pitcher he takes them out in the 6th or when ever he thinks they might blow it. hughes was an overall better starter than joba. probably why he left him in longer in some games. 170 innings isnt a lot for a starting pitcher.
na thats not babying a pitcher.
Hughes didn't get babied at all except for maybe the end of the year which was when he clearly started losing his effectiveness
not to mention all the important things MH said ;)</P>

Why would they move up for Pouncey? He's a major reach at 19. He will be there ate 19 (and I hope to God we don't take him). He's a late first rounder at best. Unless some team is completely foolish.</P>
Anyway, a trade with Pittsburgh would be a move down, not up. I can see moving down to 31 and grabbing Pouncey there.</P>

--Ryan also believes that the Jets, two-time AFC finalists, have emerged from the Giants' shadow.
"When
people ask me what it's like to share New York with the Giants, my
response is always, I am not sharing it with them -- they're sharing it
with me," Ryan says, adding, "I know it's going to piss off every Giants
fan to hear this, but here you go: We are the better team. We are the
big brother."</p>
He doesn't stop there, claiming the Jets are "going
to remain the better team for the next 10 years. Whether you like it or
not, those are the facts and that's what's going to happen."--</p>just like hes going to win the superbowl again?? all talk no substance.
I sincerely hope so, because if the stinkin Jet's win a SB? Argghhh---I do not even want to consider how miserable our lives will be if we have another sub par season.
rex ryan is an ***. type of guy you would love to have coach your team, but hes a scumbag. how are the giants the little brothers when we beat them 30 something to 16 the last time we played AND they kept their starters in for longer. not to mention the giants 7 championships to the jets 1. yea maybe our big, ******ed, unsuccessful brother

It got me fired up a bit when I read as well. What a ****head? **** him and his jet's.
I am hearing about a possible trade with the Steelers to move up for Pouncy?
</P>
Not sure, but something is going on with Steelers. I'm thinking this best case scenario:
NYG gets Costanzo with our standard pick
NYG trades with Pitty for an additional 1st round pick for Pouncy?
Don't you have a plane to catch?
</P>
2:07</P>
Are you going to wear an NYG g-string to mess with the guy at security for your full body scan? lol
I recommend not to wear the thong--or these guy's will be called for your cavity search. Don't say I didn't warn you.

we are having a quick mini-meeting in my office....myself, 2 male coworkers sitting in the member chairs in front of my desk, and my supervisor is behind me, sitting indian style on the filing-cabinet- wrap around desk...
Some guy walking buy, kind does that vear move where he walks close the the entrance of my office....
this guy is in his mid 50s id guess....and here is his attire:
beat up cowboy boots, jeans that are way too tight for him to be wearing, a sleeveless tshirt(that he clearly cut himself) with some sort of redneck scene going on....and a snakeskin cowboy hat....
he leans in, looks around, looks at my supervisor, and with a grin on his face goes "you look like a hillbilly sittin like that..." and starts walking away chuckling...
we're all like wtf?! she doesnt even get a word out, cuz we're all confused, just ,"ummm..."
idk why...but i go..."you look like a hillbilly because youre alive..."
he walks back, and goes "huh?".....and im like ,"private meeting...if you'll excuse us..."

Its not what I would do, but I have a feeling.</P>
Pouncey is a reach at 19. I prefer Jimmy Smith but I think Ingram is the best value outside of Smith.</P>
</P>
</P>

is ingram good enough to be a 1st rounder?
My opinion is Ingram is a first rounder, however I hope Costanzo is on the board at that time and we grab him. I would put o-line infront of an rb for sure. What you think?
im really not well informed on anyone coming out of the draft but im reading all the olinemen arent really first round material.

Yep--O-line is Eli's bread and butter. Give the boy time and don't allow him to be hurried.

yea but o-linemen in the late first round is pointless. top 10, sure.....but you can get really good players in the 2nd and 3rd

This year I prob know the most about o-line rookies. I hope to god we don't go with defense like usual.
Olineman I like are:
Costanzo
Solder
Tyrone Smith -no way he will be around for #19

Lot's of talent in the later rounds. I can't wait to hear about Bellichecks antics this year. The pat's are absolutely loaded with picks.

Hey I hear that don't wear pants in the southern part of France they use grass some how...bad I know its all I got ...have a great time bring back pics...beaches..lol</P>
Well I'm here in my hotel room. Its 9:30 and we just came from dinner. I need some down time since I haven't slept since Tuesday night. I'm hoping to stay awake (or at least go to sleep and wake up for the draft) The only way I have of following it is here on the computer interweb.</P>
I still say Ingram although I would disagree with that pick. My pick would be Jimmy Smith assuming that Costanzo is gone at 19.</P>
Tomorrow is a 9 hour private tour with me, my daughter and my son in law of all the battle sites and cemeteries. I expect that it will be emotional and I'm looking forward to it very much.</P>
Lets hope someone good drops to us tonight......</P>

Still hung up on that speed thing huhh??
I really do not think the Giants have that much interest in taking Ingram. I am sticking to my theory of LT. If Pouncey is not there, they may take the pick or drop back a few spots and still get somebody like Carimi. That really is not a bad pick for you guys.
As far as running back, i believe somebody like Shane Vereen in the 3rd or possibly the 4th would be a great pick for you guys.
2nd round pick for you guys would be the defensive side. imo............

Seems like you guys in this thread FINALLY generated some interest in this years draft... BOUT TIME!!!!
I gotta say, I hate how they do the draft with 1st round the 1st night, then rounds 2 and 3 the next day, and finally 4-7 on a third day.... Its ridiculous

MH-Post pics of the beaches if you can. I would be very interested. Hopefully we go oline for 1st pic. If we do, I have to agree, NYG will not be able to control themselves from not going for defense in the 2nd rd. LOL. </P>

I don't like the way it is done now either. I have to admit, I am getting slightly amped for the draft tonite. </P>
There's so much talent available, I wish we could fill all our needs with bpa. Interested to see where Von Miller(LB-Texas A&M)goes.</P>

I don't think he will be available and I want an o-lineman in the 1st---but Ingram looks like a low center of gravity. Wonder if he can hold onto the ball better than BJ or AB?
