morning all.. sorry havne't been around...

apparently Daven was right. He said he had a link from the CBO themselves saying that they were wrong from the political debate. I haven't checked it but i'll just concede.

<font color="#0000ff">Lakers - LMAO</font>

Celtics - great game by Rondo. Alot of heart. But it won't make a difference. The tide in the NBA has turned. Out iwth the old in with the new

2 weeks later and i'm still pumped for Marvin Austin. Sapp said hes his twin.

Glad to see pappy posting, we weren't sure baout what ur status was in FRAAAANCE during the killing of Bin Laden.

went to a wedding this past weekend of my buddy Jim Spanarkle whose father does all the NBA tournament and Nets games on YES. His partner was Ian Eagle and I was able to get a picture with all of them. Word of advice: don't ask Ian Eagle if his name is astage name. I dont think he liked it too much lol.

So I wake up out of my slumber and realize blondie was late. I scream wake her up, do you think she'd do the same for me? No, i fall aslepe and then im a half hour late for work... how ****in rude
</p>

They looked horrible, the mavs made them look like jv players. The Lakers could not stop the penetration from the mav guards. And that freed up the 3 point shots which were amazing (nba record)</p>

The Dynasty is over.........</p>

</p>

What dynasty?</p>

</p>

2 championships in a row..</p>

Maybe not a dynasty, but an accomplishment</p>

</p>

5 titles in 10 years and 7 Finals appearances......
its about the closest thing youre going to get to a dynasty in sports these days. I think Prior to that it was probably the Yankees and The ChiTown Bulls of the 90s

Although I don't like the Lakers and don't think they have been dominant in some time, I respect what Phil Jackson did ;)</p>

</p>

In the context of 10 years, I would say it is close. But you then can't say the dynasty is over because they could come back next season and win it.</p>

But anyone who says that 2 straight is a dynasty is misguided.</p>

</p>well its good to see you gave up on your bosox "dynasty" theory

5 rings in a decade is more of definition of a dynasty in your terms...

Well to me 10 years is the absolute minimum, but it can be reasonably argued. I'd have to agree.</P>

Its a "mediocre dynasty". Hahaha!!</P>

The Mayor doesn't prosecute the case. Plus he plea bargained the deal. The reality is that Plaxico could have gotten a much better deal if he had made the deal much earlier.</P>

Plaxico got more than he deserved because he allowed the prosecutors to develop the case and get in a much more adventagous position. Plaxico's attorney screwed the pooch. It had nothing to do with Bloomberg.</P>

id be pissed at bloomberg. i am pissed at him for that ****. blooms a phony just like the rest of them.
I believe Bloomberg did make an example of Burress. I know he broke the law. I wonder if Rudy would of done the same?
</p>

well, before it went to trial, he publicly said he would make an example out of him. lol...so...yea, I think so...</p>

</p>

It had nothing to do with Bloomberg.</p>yea but bloomberg publicized it even further. and like pizz said he literally said he would make an example of him. theres no reason for him to speak on the matter except for piblic image. hes one of those morons that think if we took all the gun off the streets murders would stop. yet he wont acknowledge that for every assault with a gun theres 20 more assaults with a knife reported. next hell want to band your butter knives. hes a joke in everything he does.

morning all.. sorry havne't been around...

apparently Daven was right. He said he had a link from the CBO themselves saying that they were wrong from the political debate. I haven't checked it but i'll just concede.

Lakers - LMAO

Who woulda thought differently with a name like that, **** Him, if he can't take an honest question!

lol na but i got him to curse. he was having a good time at the wedding. Hes like :"I swear, i'll show you my ****in liscence right now"

lol good guy. He took a picture with all of us
Ah-ok, he sounds like a good guy when you put it that way.

Back when this argument was popular I did look it up, Plax got a longer sentence then normal...I found statistics on the pleas and upwards of 90% of the first offenders got off with less then 3 months jail time, many got no jail time whatsoever just probation.

In my opinion there is no doubt that Plax was made an example of because of his fame....wether Bloomberg had something to do with it personally...I don't know, useless to think about since if he did it was behind closed doors and we'll never find out....

point is Plax got a raw deal if you compare what he got to what you or I would have got in the same situation.

that said it was still an incredibly stupid and dangerous thing he did.

The minimum sentence is irrelevant anyhow since he took a plea bargain, you have to look at what the statistics are for people who where "CHARGED" with the same crime but then plea bargained, in that case (from memory) the vast majority of the cases turned out to be 3 Months if I remember correctly?...there was a significant portion that got no jail time whatsoever as well.

no i said it. three of us, were fighting with the 2 other coworkers, because when i close, nobody cares when I go to lunch. but when I open, i go at noon, the first lunch, because everyone complains. so today, i said no....either you do it fairly, or i'll go back to making the set-in-stone schedule like we used to use before i suggested to management we scrap it.</p>I hear you, I'm all about fairness. It has appeared to me that my co-workers have a different idea of fairness that benefits them only.

That is true, I don't remember what the better deal was, but he was offered a better deal and refused to accept it, I think the "better" deal was still nowhere near what the normal Joe Schmo would have got, but this happened right around they started implementing the tougher gun laws right? I really do think Bloomberg said "Hey look, if we send the Superbowl Champ to jail for a significant amount of time we will show everyone how serious we are on the matter" and pushed the DA to do it, normally the DA doesn't push hard on this charge because if it does go to a grand jury there is a high likelihood that a jury of your peers will refuse to indict someone.

the arguments in this thread back then are proof of that, even if the evidence is there, people may feel that 3.5 years is too long for a stupid mistake and refuse to indict him...it's something the DA usually takes into account when lowering the time served in the plea...

no where backs that up pappy

minimum 1 year is what i've read...

</P>

everything i've looked up has said 1 year minimum also.</P>

</P>

http://gothamist.com/2006/11/01/pataki_toughens.php</P>

</P>

as part of my notary training, i had to know classes of felonies. iknow that a class A Felonycarries a minimum 1 year. Thats all I remember about it.</P>

</P>

So your saying that the photo was an alien pretending to be Goege Pataki signing the law making the penalty 3 1/2 years?</P>

</P>

well, i know the New York state guidelines. which is why I said that.
In NY, possessing an illegal firearm is a Class A felony.
NYC is special, and has it's own seperate laws, so I guess it'd be a class B felony.</P>

The guy discharged an unregistered handgun in a public place, with no permit to carry. Joe Schmo would have gotten 5 years.

This part is completely untrue Morehead, from what I can tell based on statistics from previous plea's under the same charge, Joe Schmo would have got anywhere from 3-6 months...."Rich" Schmo likely would have gotten off with no jail time at all.

Morehead, in the eye's of the LAW.... YES they are the same, both are charged with the same crime...period end of story...when it comes to the legal system you ARE dealing with Fantasyland.

The way it works is you look at previous case precedent, you look at the CHARGES...the Charge was illegal possesion...the charge wasn't "Plax brought a gun into a nightclub"

you can only look at the charge and in that case the guy who stuffed it into his glove box and the guy who walked into a nightclub ARE the same...as long as the Charge was the same.

I believe Bloomberg did make an example of Burress. I know he broke the law. I wonder if Rudy would of done the same?
</p>

well, before it went to trial, he publicly said he would make an example out of him. lol...so...yea, I think so...</p>

</p>

</p>

yea im familiar with the case....but basically it was said that he was going to be made an example...
even the first deal wasnt a good one, he was treated like joe shmo for sure.
Which dont get me wrong, fair is fair....it's just unfair toplax because other celebrities get away with anything...</p>

</p>

His (Bloomberg) public statements had nothing to do with the result of the case. Plaxico got greedy, and paid the price.</p>

K. Mayor made the statement, prosecutor tried the case....in the end. Many celebs have got away with more than Plax. They gave his team the key to the city after SB42. Wtf? The guy caught the winning TD.

I could see if the gun killed the security guard when it slipped down Plax's leg or someone else got hurt. No harm, no foul. Let's compare Plax's incident to Lt?

Bull****!
</p>

The guy walked into a crowded night club with a loaded, unregistered handgun, tucked into his sweatpants (In NYC, with the toughest gun laws in the country) and through his own carelessness actually fired the weapon.</p>

He was damn lucky to get just two years as far as I'm concerned.</p>

france has distorted your thought process. steve smith was robbed 2 weeks before hand. plus the gun was registered in florida i belive but it expired, so your telling me its ok for someone to get 2 years for an expired gun license. i think thats bull****. if your gun is registered in montana it should be good enough for ny or any other state. its our right and is just another example of the gov interfering with them
</p>

A gun registered in Florida is an unregistered gun in NY. Also he had no license to carry a conceiled weapon as far as I know.</p>

He was lucky to get 2 years. He basically got a walk on discharging it in a public place.</p>

</p>

id be pissed at bloomberg. i am pissed at him for that ****. blooms a phony just like the rest of them.
I believe Bloomberg did make an example of Burress. I know he broke the law. I wonder if Rudy would of done the same?
</P>

well, before it went to trial, he publicly said he would make an example out of him. lol...so...yea, I think so...</P>

</P>

</P>

yea im familiar with the case....but basically it was said that he was going to be made an example...
even the first deal wasnt a good one, he was treated like joe shmo for sure.
Which dont get me wrong, fair is fair....it's just unfair toplax because other celebrities get away with anything...</P>

</P>

Bull****!
</P>

The guy walked into a crowded night club with a loaded, unregistered handgun, tucked into his sweatpants (In NYC, with the toughest gun laws in the country) and through his own carelessness actually fired the weapon.</P>

He was damn lucky to get just two years as far as I'm concerned.</P>

france has distorted your thought process. steve smith was robbed 2 weeks before hand. plus the gun was registered in florida i belive but it expired, so your telling me its ok for someone to get 2 years for an expired gun license. i think thats bull****. if your gun is registered in montana it should be good enough for ny or any other state. its our right and is just another example of the gov interfering with them
</P>

A gun registered in Florida is an unregistered gun in NY. Also he had no license to carry a conceiled weapon as far as I know.</P>

He was lucky to get 2 years. He basically got a walk on discharging it in a public place.</P>

one caveat though, I admit defeat on the fact that bloomberg did not have any sway over the DA in the case (on the assumption that Plax was offered 2 months) with that said, you have to admit that your above comment is somewhat off base right?
</p>

I concede that rather small point. </p>

may have been small to you, but to me that's what the argument was about :P my musings on whether Bloomberg had something to do with it or not wasn't an important issue to me :)

Sorry Dez, you are losing me on this one, if infact he was offered two months it pretty much proves Bloomberg had little to no effect on the DA, 2 months is the Average (even a bit below average) Plea Bargain offered for that specific charge, plax is just a moron for not accepting it...if I was his lawyer I wouldn't have let him not accept it, I would have dropped the case if he said no to that....

I still don't like how Bloomberg actively talked about his opinion on the case...that's not his place...but I can say...pretty confidently, that if plax was offered 2 months bloombergs threats and grandstanding had little to no effect on the DA.

i dont see it that way. it was his first offense, he shouldnt have received any time. you know in the movies where the top cop or da is like " god dammit, i got the mayor up my *** about this!" lol i feel like that happened with this. whos to say the da was just going to offer him 1500 hours of community service. we dont know.

You be Trollin?

It's not a Movie Dez :P

and the fact is (maybe) that Plax was offered a "Good Deal" seriously, I do know I looked it up, 2 months would be a good deal for a plea associated with what Plax was charged with, he didn't take it...that's on HIM and noone else...can't blame Bloomberg for plax's bad decision....maybe his lawyer...but not bloomberg.

That's what I thought too....until I found out he was offered 2 months...that's a good deal in NY...there wasn't a push to make an example out of Plax....he just decided not to take a good deal..maybe he got greedy thinking laws didn't apply tohim cause he was Plaxico Burress.
</P>

Well I was not aware of that deal that was offered to Plax. </P>

He really must be an idiot to turn that deal down, or his lawyer misinformed him about the plea offer. </P>

like i said, being that he shot himself seems like punishment enough imo so 2 months for an expired license seems like a lot to me. say what you want but the mayor instigated on the issue without a doubt.

</p>

Not in NYC Daven.</p>

I'm talking about ONLY NYC Morehead, back when this happened I looked that up....Joe Schmo in NYC would most likely have gotten 3-6 Months in Plax's position, there is no doubt in my mind that he was treated differently because of his fame.
you are correct
http://www.dnainfo.com/20110224/upper-east-side/florida-man-aquitted-of-carrying-gun-glove-compartment
</p>

OK, are you guys telling me that a guy who stuffed his gun (registered in FL) in his glove box in Florida (his home) and then forgot it was there and drove to NYC is the same as a guy who lives in NY/NJ and stuffs an unregistered, loaded gun in his pants, goes to a crowded club and accidentally discharges it in that club?</p>

Welcome to Fantasyland.</p>

no morehead. we(well i am anyway) are tellingyou that these gun laws are silly. if i wanted to shoot you, im not going to use my registered hand gun. why? cause police will just trace it back to me and i go to jail for murder even though it would totally be worth it. as long as you have a gun registered in any state in the us, you should be able to carry it anywhere. it was expired, and you cant charge plax for being a moron. people are acting like hes the first person to shoot a gun in a bar.

</p>

I'm not saying the laws are or aren't silly. I'm saying that they are what they are and that Bloomberg's public statements about Plaxico didn't effect the result of the case.</p>

Poor decisions by Plaxico and his attorney when they offered him a much more favorable deal than what he eventually got, was the reason.</p>

mayors a powerful man im sure he did.
</p>

http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2009/05/report_new_york_giants_burress_2.html</p>

According to Bob Papa, he was offered 2 months in jail and 1500 hours of community service. And turned it down!!!</p>

If true, it blows your theory completely out of the water. (and by the way vindicates mine).</p>

If the mayor's comments had an effect on this case, they would have never made that offer.The articleclaims that Plaxico was deathly afraid to go to prison.</p>

which is still pretty stiff offer for shooting yourself in the leg hahahaha. it doesnt mean anything. he still got 2 years. in his stupid mind he thought he was innocent.
</p>

How could Bloomberg's position have effected the case if they offered him 2 months in jail?</p>like i said, being that he shot himself seems like punishment enough imo so 2 months for an expired license seems like a lot to me. say what you want but the mayor instigated on the issue without a doubt.
Punishment enough, I dunno. Embarassing enough...hell yes!

I got off the ledge all is ok now. End Rant.

Imo-by never talking to someone on the phone I believe it enables those who choose to only email/ichat/text to spend countless amounts of time doing what could be accomplished in 1 quick minute on the phone. That makes it appear as if they are busier/important than they actually are, which brings me to one of my favorites in the business world or where ever you want to apply it.

It is not the reality that matters...it is what and how you project what you want other's to perceive. Their perception of what you project is more powerful than the actual reality.

MMB---Great News-Just heard from one of the largest Powerlifting Suppliers--I got full sponsorship package for show---This is a HUGE incentive for people to buy raffle tickets.
</p>

I dont know what that means....but.....AWESOME!!!! congrats!!!</p>

lol =]</p>This company is going to give me t-shirts, baseball caps, and gift certificates for their products. We will then announce that the 50/50 raffle will go towards winning this stuff as well as a 50/50 split at the end of show. Now I am going to get on the horn with their largest competitor and let them know that these guy's are on board and they need to get some exposure. LOVIN IT!

well, first of all, if it aint broken, dont fix it....so why would we need to make that decision.
Osi keeps turning in great seasons, so why would we get rid of him?
I'd pick Osi definitely. People rag on me always for it. ButI dare you to argue with production. You'll lose. Unless defensive records don't count towards arguments for some reason.</P>

Dime a dozen, I do believe i coined that phrase in reference to Bradshaw.
Dime? Coined? get it? lolololol

I would take Jacobs also, because he's a special kind of RB. there arent exactly alot of RBs with that kind of power and size.
Bradshaw on the other hand, is not special. unless of course you consider his ridiculous amount of fumbles, in which case, he's as different as they come.=P</P>

ur vote is moot....

techincally blondie lost the bet, but u lost the spirit of it.. you won on a technicality

very few backs have Bradshaws shiftyness, strength and speed

but the fumbling is an obvious issue which he only has this year to fix imo

Bradshaw was top 10 in yards

out of the top 20 backs in yards he tied for 7th in ypc

tied for second in 20+ runs

tied for 7th in 40+ runs

11th in TD

i wouldn't say thats pedestrian numbers

thats the obvious concern

but i'd say Jacobs being able to be a premere back by himself would be his obvious concern.

The truth of the matter is that Jacobs has looked the best when most of the time hes playing th #2 spot and doing work the second half of the seaosn

once Bradshaw clears his fumbling issues, i say we have the best tandem in the league

that pretty much reaffirms my point that hes not a feature guy that can handle a load and is better used for the second half of the seaosn..

he NEVER looked as good as he did the second half of last year. Its because he was in shape and didn't wear out his tires while the league was already
