i already took them in our league, but if u guys need a defense for week 1 go pick up Houston

I heard a sick stat about when Wade Phillips is the DC and plays Kerry Collins. Collins is 0-7 and never scored more than 17 points. PLUS keep in mind Collins doesn't even know the offense.

I expect the Texans to whoop on the Colts

Over or Under

Greg Jones 6 tackles this Sunday.

who cares... i want tackles for loss

yea...the more tackles a LB has, to me means the D-line isn't stopping the run good enough(blitzes aside), so matt is right...

tackle stats arent good judges of performance.

That's not entirely true.

If your playing the Mike position you are in on almost every play.

A good Mike linebacker should have atleast over 100 tackles in a season.

Tackles for losses are a bonus...

its just not true, if a MLB has alot of tackles but they are 5 yards down field - its not a good thing

but then again u could have a ton of tackles that happen at the line of scrimmage and don't get considered for losses and there just as good.

tackles just don't tell any story, but i guess i would prefer the number to be high

Fans just think making a tackle is easy.

It takes alot to put an opponent down on the turf, yes you are right. Nothing great about chasing a player down after a 25 yard gain.

But the point is Middle Linebackers should be in on a good majority of plays on defense. Some of the best Mike Linebackers in this game average about 125-180 tackles a season. That's putting your work in to say the least.

again, if most of those tackles are 5 yards down field - its not really an effective stat

effective stat or not, try taking down a guy who is getting paid to go around or through you.

I guess

but tackling is also the main priority of a LBer

Tiki Barber's Fiancee Goes Blue For Maxim

Even though former-New York Giants running back Tiki Barber still can't
find a job in the NFL, it doesn't sound all that bad hanging around the
Barber household all day.

Barber's fiancee, Traci Lynn Johnson, showed off a lot of the reasons
Tiki left one set of twins for another in a revealing photo shoot for
Maxim magazine.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nRCdaMbEUss/Tmdlu-9GnOI/AAAAAAAAAnU/2_0bhUcaA-k/s320/tiki_girl--300x450.jpg (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nRCdaMbEUss/Tmdlu-9GnOI/AAAAAAAAAnU/2_0bhUcaA-k/s1600/tiki_girl--300x450.jpg)

For those of you picturing an unshaven Tiki, lying on the couch in a
dirty bathrobe, sulking about his failed NFL comeback-- don't! There
isn't even a stitch of terry cloth involved.

In the upcoming issue, Johnson confessed that she and the ex- Big Blue
make the most of their home life by knocking down shots and hanging
around the house naked.

"You definitely have to keep up on the tequila shots [with me] the 24
year-old beauty told the magazine, according to the New York Post.

When Barber downs a few, Johnson said "he likes to walk around the
house naked." And as we can see by her photos, it shouldn't surprise
any one that she's not shy about going in the buff too.

"I do too-- so that's why we're such a good match," she cooed.

If Tom Coughlin knew that's all it took to make Barber happy, maybe they could have been a happy couple too.

Barber, 36, who hadn't played in the NFL since 2006, hoped to make a
comeback this season by working himself into shape, but only the Miami
Dolphins took a peak at the Giants' all-time leading rusher.

Since leaving the Giants, Barber had a failed stint as an NBC reporter and a divorce.

NBC is where he met Johnson-- who was working as an intern. Barber
dumped his then-pregnant-with-twins wife of 11 years for the sultry
intern.

WR Steve Smith (knee) practiced fully for the Eagles.
The Giants did not anticipate Smith being ready for the start of the

ESPN will remain the home of Monday Night Football for at least another decade.

The NFL and ESPN have reached a new deal (http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Morning-Buzz/2011/09/08/ESPN-NFL.aspx) to keep Monday night games on ESPN through the 2021 season, SportsBusinessDaily.com reports.

The new contract will pay the NFL $1.8 billion a year, a 63 percent
increase from the current deal. With 17 Monday night games a year, that
works out to more than $105 million a game.

ESPN (and its network partner ABC) still will be kept out of the
Super Bowl rotation on the new contract, although ESPN might get a
wild-card playoff game at some point in the future. ESPN does get the
rights to more highlights, which it will use to launch more
highlight-themed studio shows. ESPN also gets the right to stream live
games online.

It’s an enormous deal for ESPN, but it’s even bigger for the NFL,
which was able to survive the lockout and show once again that it’s the
single most valuable property in all of American television.

What is your logic on the te's?

Most people will tell you to get 2 of them. That way you can play the match ups. If you have a top 8 TE you might not need another one because you will always play them. You certainly don't need 3...I would recommend another Defense in case the Giants don't have a favorable match up.

Just giving you a hard time. I know it's a fun and learning experience for you. It's good to have you in here. I remember how much fun Byron had his first year. You will love it.

First they love Choice in Dallasm especially around the goalline and they LOVE that rookie they got there

And they were TOTALLY challanging Beanie for carries, hence why they drafted Ryan Williams and then signed Chester Taylor as soon as they could. Chester will end up being the main guy in Zona. THats my darkhorse prediction

u shouldn't be telling anybody how to run their team with what u drafted

My draft spot was tough. We all knew it coming in. I did a great job as far as I'm concerned. Especially with the trade I pulled. That is the great thing about drafting is you can trade. I am very confident in Beanie and Felix as none of you are. They will make or break my team.

I think so to and that is why I HAD to take him in the 4th. He was going in the 2nd in some drafts. No one challenging him or Beanie for carries either. Big benefit you have with Benson as well.

Hey LT,

You should pick up a couple more TE's.
The Rook says: Tell me if this sounds correct? WR's generally get more total yards per year. Hence - my choice to have 5 wideouts on my roster. My first year , a learning experience.

I know you are a good sport!! Thanks for letting me join up this year. Kellen Winslow and Mercedes Lewis are my starting TE's. Witten got grabbed from under my nose. Brent Celek is my back up--I'm kinda concerned about him. Ahhh-LT get's ya now. Thanks for the tip. [;)]

Peyton will not be a top 10 Fantasy QB this year...that I'll bet money on, he won't be around till week 7-8 at the earliest...when he does come back it's gonna take him at least week or two to get back into it...you are not looking at "Peyton" performance till the earliest week 10 or 11 I think, 5 or 6ish weeks of Peyton play...even at his best...is not enough for him to catch up to the other QB's who will have a full 10+ games on him.

66 point difference between Freeman and Ben and Ben averaged just under 20 points a game.

Orten is closer missing 3 games but still didn't average as many points per game as Freeman. Plus that Tebow garbage is still there.

Freeman straight up outscored, Ryan, Schaub, Eli, Flacco.

Freeman is also going into his 3rd year seemingly getting better, wouldn't you agree? Wouldn't you say that most of the guys u mentioned have hit thier ceilings?

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Of course Eli Manning (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/5526/eli-manning)
knows which quarterback's 208-gamer is the longest active
consecutive-games streak in the NFL. That would be his big brother,
Peyton, and you don't have to be a member of the Manning family to have
heard something about that streak coming to an end (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6942940/peyton-manning-indianapolis-colts-awhile-jim-irsay-tweets) this weekend.

But when pressed on it Wednesday, Eli Manning said he didn't know what the second-longest
active consecutive-games streak by an NFL quarterback is. Which was
hard to believe, because it's a 103-game streak by Eli himself.

"I don't know what my number is," the New York Giants (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/nyg/new-york-giants)'
quarterback said after Wednesday's practice. "You try to be out there
every week on the field with your teammates. It's not something that I'm
keeping track of."

Eli's durability currently stands him in almost comical contrast to
the rest of his team. Since the start of training camp, the defense has
lost four cornerbacks, two linebackers and defensive end Osi Umenyiora (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/4514/osi-umenyiora) to injury. One of the cornerbacks, Terrell Thomas (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11297/terrell-thomas), was a starter, as was linebacker Jonathan Goff (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11399/jonathan-goff),
and both are gone for the season. Defensive injuries became the
dominant Giants storyline in the second half of the preseason, after the
story in the first half was the number of key players they'd lost on
offense in free agency.

With all of that going on, Eli Manning and his remarkable durability
become more important than ever. The Giants enter this season with the
thinnest roster they've ever given head coach Tom Coughlin. And if
they're going to overcome that, they're going to need the people on whom
they really count to play at the highest possible level for them.
Coughlin believes Manning to be such a person, and that the
consecutive-games streak shows it.

"It means he's been able to display toughness and competitiveness,"
Coughlin said. "One week, he was out all week with a shoulder injury and
he still played. He has that desire and he has that toughness, both
physical and mental. He said the first time he walked into my office
that he wanted to be the quarterback of this team and the leader of this
team, and he has demonstrated that consistently."

For some reason, outside the organization, Manning takes a lot of
grief. There's a perception among fans, Giants and otherwise, that he's
somehow not as good as he should be. And the consensus public opinion
surely diverged with his own last month when he said that thing about
considering himself an "elite" quarterback and in Tom Brady (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/2330/tom-brady)'s
class. The 25 interceptions he threw last season obviously don't help
the outside perception, and he knows that. But lost among the criticism
is the fact that Manning is under center for his team every single week,
no matter what.

"You try to work hard during the offseason, prevent the pulls, those
things can be prevented a little bit," Manning said. "Also, I'm not
running as much as a lot of these guys and doing as much cutting. The
quarterback, you can play with a lot of big injuries. But if you get a
little injury, like an index finger or a thumb that most people can play
with, sometimes you can't. I've stayed away from some of those."

It's not just that Manning never misses a game. He also happens to
perform at a very high level. He makes no trouble for the organization
off the field. He puts an excellent face on one of the league's proudest
franchises. He's looked at without question as the leader of the team
by everyone in the locker room. More than half the teams in the league
would be happy to swap their quarterback situations for Manning
straight-up, right this minute. The Giants are, in fact, playing such a
team Sunday.

"Eli is an excellent quarterback," Washington Redskins (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/wsh/washington-redskins)
coach Mike Shanahan said. "But one of the things about being a
quarterback in this league: If you don't take your team to the playoffs
there will always be some questions. When you don't make the playoffs,
people are going to look at the quarterback, and that's just the nature
of this business. But I think Eli showed everybody with what he did in
the Super Bowl, and I'm sure he'll get back to that type of play."

The Giants need him to, if they're to have any hope of making the
playoffs for the first time in three years. Injuries have ravaged their
defense. The salary cap inhibited them in free agency. They are, very
simply, not as strong or as deep a roster as we have come to expect the
Giants to be. But they still have Pro Bowl-caliber players on whom they
can rely -- players like Justin Tuck (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/8488/justin-tuck) and Hakeem Nicks (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/12586/hakeem-nicks) and Ahmad Bradshaw (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/10693/ahmad-bradshaw),
to name a few. And at quarterback, they have Eli Manning, who's been
there for them for 103 straight games and counting. More than ever, as
the 2011 season dawns, they're counting on him now.

I gave up points last night by not activating my yesterday's pickup-Donald Driver. Me being a rookie, I can understand that. However, when I started looking at other teams in our league, I saw that I was not the only one who failed to make adjustments before last nights game. That surprised me.

you mean like Moorehead not playing GB defense?

BTW moorehead with our defensive scoring GB had 10.5 points in the old scoring they would of had 10 points

First of all, I had no idea that a KO retunr for a TD goes as a TD for the defense. I don't get how thats a measure of the defense as you stated a few days ago.

Putting that aside, I have Arizona at home against Carolina. I'm looking for 15 to 20 points.

Without that kickoff return they had 4.5 points. I thought the NO offense would light up the GB defense and I was right. But can't anticipate a KO return. (especially since I didn't know it counted as points for the D)

I'm still comfortable with my decision. Plus Jimmy helped me last night.

Either way chances are better than 3 in 4 that the Zona D exceeds 10.5 points vs, Carolina.

First of all, any defense this season with a new sysytem is apt to struggle early due to the lockout. Look for Philly to struggle as well.

But I think it was a good pickup for you because they are playing a team who's QB wastrying to start his musical careertwo weeks earlier.

I gave up points last night by not activating my yesterday's pickup-Donald Driver. Me being a rookie, I can understand that. However, when I started looking at other teams in our league, I saw that I was not the only one who failed to make adjustments before last nights game. That surprised me.

A rookie QB on the road in his first NFL game? I like my chances for 15 plus points.

actually i picked htem up because the yare good... are u suggesting that Mario Williams, Brian Cushing, D Ryans, Joseph, and Manning don't make a talented defene?

Plus with Wad ePhillips there? Lets be honest, he sucks as a HC but he has a legit resume as a DC.

Houston is a sleeper defense, especially when they are playing somebody who replaced PEyton Manning two weeks ago
My exact thoughts with Spags--reason I am grabbing the St louis defense.

yea i liked them this year

but I just figure Houstons division has ot be one of the weakest offensive divisions in the league. Had to go wtih them

I drafted the Rams actually

Question: Which tight end do you start on Sunday Kellen Winslow or Mercedes Lewis. I'm thinking Winslow

its a hard decision because a young inexperience QB always looks for the short pass to the big target TE

I think Imay have mentioned earlier in the week that I been working at an IBM plant this week, and next week.....
this place is so ridiculously boring. I maybe help like 6-7 people a day, which takes all but a half hour of my time...total.... and then I just sit here for the rest of the day waiting for it to end lol.

man....and I thought MY branch was slow!! This is just crazy! lol

Well thankyou LT. My humility won't allow me to refer to myself in such terms, but we all know its true anyway.

Either way chances are better than 3 in 4 that the Zona D exceeds 10.5 points vs, Carolina.

arizonas defense SUCKS

Thats why you picked the Houston D? Because they are good? You know as well as me that the offense they are going up against is just as, or MORE important.

First of all, any defense this season with a new sysytem is apt to struggle early due to the lockout. Look for Philly to struggle as well.

But I think it was a good pickup for you because they are playing a team who's QB wastrying to start his musical careertwo weeks earlier.

You will drop them like a bad habit after this week.

unless there is a serious value i can't ignore, im figuring to ride with houston

On Eli: “I was always his biggest supporter, even days he wasn’t on,
’cause I could sense he didn’t have thick skin. Then I went away, and I
thought he would come see me, but nothing, not a letter, in two years. I
don’t want to say it was a slap in the face, but I thought our
relationship was better than that.”

Burress’ comments (via the Newark-Star-Ledger) on Coughlin
were more pointed. He said Coughlin’s not a positive coach and his
style on the sideline wears on players. He also felt Coughlin didn’t
treat him like a man.

“After my situation happened, I turned on the TV, and the first words
out his mouth was ‘sad and disappointing.’ ” Burress said. “I’m like,
forget support — how about some concern? I did just have a bullet in my
leg.

“And then I sat in his office, and he pushed back his chair and goes,
‘I’m glad you didn’t kill anybody!’ Man, we’re paid too much to be
treated like kids. He doesn’t realize that we’re grown men and actually
have kids of our own.”

It’s no surprise Burress didn’t re-join the Giants after hearing
these quotes. It’s more surprising that he tried to repair his
relationship with Coughlin, but that’s probably due to Burress’ close
relationship with Giants ownership.

There’s not a lot we can add to the quotes. We appreciate Burress’
honesty even if he gets criticized for it. Especially by the fans who
were were happy he went to jail.

“What are you doing now?” Burress said to them. “You still mad at
your job? You still angry about your life? ’Cause I’m back living my
life and enjoying my family while you’re still doing the same thing.”

I don't know what you are trying to do. You can only start one QB/week. Stay on Brees every week. Backup should only be used in Brees' bye week.
haha--Good, I guess that makes two of us. LOL. OK-1 qb per week.
What about other positions? Can I switch up the wr's, te's, rb's etc? Pretty sure I can based on game times. Thanks for the tip.

1 QB

3 WR

And another ?--So I had brees play last night. My intentions were to activate my St. louis QB for sunday's games. It does not allow us to do that?

I don't know what you are trying to do. You can only start one QB/week. Stay on Brees every week. Backup should only be used in Brees' bye week.

haha--Good, I guess that makes two of us. LOL. OK-1 qb per week.
What about other positions? Can I switch up the wr's, te's, rb's etc? Pretty sure I can based on game times. Thanks for the tip.

OK LT,

Your team every week is 9 players.

1 QB

3 WR

2 RB

1 TE

1 K

1 Defense

You set your team before game time for each player.

So its always 9 guys.
Yes, thanks. I can move players from active to bench back to active between the 3 games on Sunday , Correct? The total number of players will be 9. Sorry-if I'm not asking clearly.

you can start all of the above roster spots pappy said. you can change your line up until kick off of that game. so if you have a player on monday you can technically bench them up until kick off monday night but youll develop a starting line up and not change away from it too much. maybe here and there for match up reasons but thats about it. after this week youll understand better once you can actually see how it works.

THE KING HAS ENTERED THE FORUM...

Well thankyou LT. My humility won't allow me to refer to myself in such terms, but we all know its true anyway.

’Cause I’m back living my
life and enjoying my family while you’re still doing the same thing.”
after this i truly believe plax is border line insane or a sociopath(takes one to know one)
plax hated how tc would "treat him like a kid" and hated it when tc got in his face when didnt fulfill responsibilities. hmmmmm? that sounds like treating plax like a man to me.
tc isnt/wasnt your friend, neither is rex, theyre trying to win championships, not your friendship
the man simply does not get it

Matt. I don't know whats gotten into me with all my smack talking today. I'm sorry. I know that upsets you.
It's fantasy football. It brings out the worst in you. You turn into a whole different person. Your are ****y, flamboyant, boisterous and down right crude. I love it. Only if you got the results to back it up...

I love that impulse by you got on Cobb. Kid does one good thing and you pick him up. lol

...as a returner none the less

I just want to know what he plans on doing after Benson ****s the bed. McGahee and Tate are hatin it...

i like benson - u dont get fantasy points for YPC - just yards

I don't think Benson will like 8 guys in the box...

YEa but when he has 300+ carries he'll get yards. It may be at a bad YPC, but he'll be fine.

That rookie QB looked alrite and AJ Green is nasty

LOL, you always have to be makin moves B. Even if it's to screw someone else over. It's part of the game....That's part of the reason Pizz hates a big bench.

You should have this conversation in a PM. Everyone is going to know what you are doing LT.

these are things everyone was talking about yesterday...no secret really.

LT, if' you've made a waiver claim, on your team page, there should be a date next to where that waiver gets put thru. Like if it says Sep. 10...it will probably process over the night, and you can plug in that player/defense after that.
