actually mh and i were saying the opposite. we need to see more of them. whats the point of drafting high picks if they just rot on the bench?

you know me, ill smoke any reef and i gots them baaaangerrrs.
</p>

high picks? they werent....
our high picks always see the field....

anyway...let's see if we can get thru any part of this season before we throw rookies into the fray. It's bad enough we start a rook MLB, and will likely stary Prince when he comes back.</p>jj was a 3rd round pick, 83 overall. id rather see offensive rooks. if they screw up, they leave the points on the field, on defense if they screw up it can cost us 6.

if stokely can still ball fine, but if its the beginning of the 2nd quarter and we cant get anything going, why be stubborn? try something new.

the second quarter? Because a football game is FOUR quarters

<u>abandon your game plan after one quarter? Thats madness</u>
not at all. look at last week. eli was what, 3-11, we switch to no huddle(change up the gameplan) and he goes 7-7. NOTHING wrong with adjusting at any point in the game.

Mario Manningham (concussion) was not at Giants practice Thursday.</p>

<div class="impact">
Manningham is in a race to get medically
cleared after suffering his concussion on Monday night. At this point,
even the Giants likely don't have a real read on his status as they get
Victor Cruz and Brandon Stokley ready for bigger roles. Manningham's
fantasy owners need to be making other preparations.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
</div>im all for stokley stepping in, but give jj some reps dammit. get him in the open. same with rel.

holy god

<u>JJ has looked pitiful.</u> Hes lucky they let him wear a jersey
on punt returns. put him in the slot and watch him flourish. if he gets reps at slot hes going to kill it, book it. this kid is too fast and too shifty to be sitting on the bench. and hes pretty strong for his size too
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63lbmKiBWl0

just because YOU said book it - officially means that JJ will blow the rest of his career
lets be real, i am an astute analyst when evaluating talent.

i'll remember that when i turn the hundo u give to me after beckum continues to **** the bed this season into single and slip them in some strippers g-string
i dont think nursing a hammy is ****ting the bed....but yea, it looks like he wont be seeing much time. would you rather go to a game with the mrs instead?

i do because part of the knock and reason he won't get the catches is because hes a china doll...
stop it, your main beef was he couldnt block and that was your main reason he wasnt seeing the field.

pair of Giants players pretending that they’d fallen and couldn’t get
up, at a time when the Rams were effectively using the no-huddle
offense.</p>

Said Fewell, per Ralph Vachhiano of the New York Daily News: “I can’t say I’ve ever done that and I can’t say that I haven’t done that (http://twitter.com/#%21/TheBlueScreen/status/116964774583078912).”</p>

</p>

Woooooooooooooow, this is going to be bad....Mr Fewell, Mr Goodell is on line 1

As the AL wild-card gap shrinks, baseball officials are
sweating out the possibility of a three-way tie that could wreak havoc
with next week's American League Division Series.</p>

The Boston Red Sox (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/bos/boston-red-sox) hold a 2˝-game lead over both the Tampa Bay Rays (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/tb/tampa-bay-rays) and Los Angeles Angels (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/laa/los-angeles-angels). And if all three wind up tied after 162 games, the options aren't good.</p>

First, they would be looking at a three-team playoff over
two days, with the Angels facing the possibility of having to play games
on both coasts on back-to-back days.

</p>

Then, for the team that survives, life won't get
any easier. Both American League Division Series are scheduled to begin
Sept. 30, but a three-way tie would push Game 1 of both series back a
day to Oct. 1.</p>

If that happens, baseball most likely would eliminate the
off-day between Games 2 and 3 of the ALDS in order to get those series
back on schedule. </p>

So if the Angels were to win the wild card,
they could find themselves playing Wednesday in California; Sept. 29 in
Boston; Sept. 30 back in California; the opening of the ALDS Oct. 1-2
in New York (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/nyy/new-york-yankees); then Oct. 3-4 in California -- with no travel days. </p>

In that scenario, the Angels almost certainly would lobby
MLB officials to eliminate the off-day between Games 4 and 5 of the ALDS
instead, because that off-day wouldn't be a factor if there is no Game
5.</p>

But it might not be possible to make that change because of television
requirements.

Either way, a three-way tie in the American League has long
been baseball officials' biggest worry ever since the postseason
schedule was tightened this year. </p>

In the past several years,
there has been a two-day hiatus between the end of the regular season
and the start of the postseason. But this year, in an effort to address
complaints about the drawn-out postseason schedule, there is only a
one-day gap in the AL, and two days in the National League.</p>

Also, because the Yankees have clinched the AL East and wouldn't be
allowed to face either the Red Sox or Rays in the ALDS, both division
series would have to be held up as long as the Angels are also involved.</p>

Finally, the schedule for a three-team tiebreaker hasn't been determined, either. Here is how that would work:</p>

The Rays will have first choice of potential tiebreaker
scenarios, because their combined 16-10 record against the Red Sox and
Angels was the best head-to-head winning percentage of the three teams.
So they would have two options:</p>

• Let the Red Sox and Angels play an elimination game Sept. 29 -- then face the winner of that game Sept. 30 on the road, or</p>

• choose to play two elimination games, the first at home Sept. 29, and the second (if they win) at home again Sept. 30.</p>

The Rays likely would decide to play just once, naturally.
So the Red Sox would get the next choice because their 12-14
head-to-head record was better than the Angels' 6-10 record. </p>

Boston
would have the choice of playing both elimination games at home or
playing the first at home and the second on the road, and clearly would
opt for the two home games.</p>

Meanwhile, there is still potential for a three-way tie in the National League wild-card race among the Atlanta Braves (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/atl/atlanta-braves), St. Louis Cardinals (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/stl/st-louis-cardinals) and San Francisco Giants (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/sf/san-francisco-giants). If that happens, the Cardinals get first choice, the Braves second.</p>

What happens in case of two-way ties? They would be decided
in a one-game playoff the day after the regular season. Here is how they
would work:</p>

• The Rays would host the Red Sox or the Angels;</p>

• Angels at Red Sox;</p>

• Giants at Braves;</p>

• Braves at Cardinals;</p>

• Cardinals at Giants.</p>

</p>

Baseball has held eight one-game tiebreaking elimination games
since the start of division play in 1969. It has never had to face the
mess that a three-way tie would create, but suddenly, that mess could be
looming -- as soon as next week.</p>

****in benson suspended 3 games

Ouch, and he has some cake match ups for those games...Benson will miss the games against the Bills, Jaguars, and Colts.</P>

From some tweet. Who knows what the truth is. I guess he may be appealing too so he'll play this week. I need all the fire power I can get vs. Big B.</P>

He will play this week. But San Fran run D has not allowed a rushing TD yet or more than 60 yards.
</P>

I may have to start Ben Tate. </P>

Or McGahee, you got issues this week my man....Good luck
</P>

I have no issues. Whoever I plug in will get me 15 to 20 points minumum. Tate, Benson or McGahee.</P>

actually the qoute was that he is on pace numbers wise for a hall of fame career. And if he keeps it up he will definitly get in with never having a losing record, superbowl ring, and his stats.

If he wins another ring - he def gets in.

by the definition that is generally accepted (again not a "what it means to me" moorehead essay paper) he would fit under the term gun slinger.

Brady has a win/loss record of 113-32. Brady has a TD to int ratio of 268 to 104. Thats almost 3 to 1.</P>

Eli has a win/loss record of 61-44. His TD to int ratio is 158 to 115 Eli's numbers are solid. Nothing to sneeze at. </P>

Brady's are all time great numbers. He's also an all time great winner. 113 wins and 32 losses. Maybe the greatest winner of all time.</P>

To say that Eli is in this class is "obsessive"</p>

</p>

like i said in those threads for two days. If you compare Bradys first 7 full seasons as a starter vs Eli's first full 7 as a starter the numbers are eerily similiar.

Im not going to recite those all for your again. Quite frankly its annoying that somebody as obsessed as you will just totally not retain or read anything that opposes your view point. You go look it up because I already compiled all of it already

You don't go to the Hall of Fame unless you are one of the top players at your position in your era.</p>

You do realize that that is no longer the case. Although you may not agree, most sports are getting more and more lax with HOF voting it seems. luckily for football, we've had some pretty big names come thru the past few years.</p>

Why can't we just have an honest discussion about our QB? He's a nice player. He needs to work on some things. But he is what he is.</p>

A) your a day late and a dollar short on this debate. We were full fledge about this a month ago. Maybe you should of actually read it all then instead of picking today randomly to reopen it all..

B) 20 years - Testeverde, 14 years Bledsoe, 18 years Collins, 17 years Kreig, 18 years for Deberg

C) Boomer was a top QB in the league for a short period of time. Not sure why you would even bring him up

D) Jim Everett had a career record of 64-89

E) is for Eli. REalistically the next 4 years he could be in the top 10 all time and that would be in 11 years with a superbowl ring and a pretty impressive liftime record

"Anything to get the Red Sox out would be awesome for me," said Martin, who has been involved in the rivalry for one season.</p>

When asked why, Martin sounded like the truest Bleacher Creature.</p>

"Because I hate the Red Sox," Martin said.</p>"They
are fun to play against because they have a quality team and they are
gritty and they play hard and stuff, but I would love to see them lose,"
Martin said.

"They have given us a hard time all year, but I don't think
we are scared of them or anything," Martin said.

"If we play them (in
the playoffs), we play them.""I guess it just comes with the territory," Martin said. "When you wear the pinstripes, you just kind of learn to be that way."

i think we have enough of a schedule the first half that we could maintain. We need somebody to step up in the secondary and the line to get it together. I think the line will end up being okay, but it really starts this week.

This will really set the tone for us as a team. Win or lose, it is about how we are going to play this week

I'm hoping against hope that Eli can actually strap this team on his back and carry them to some wins here. But obviously I don't expect it. This is the time that QB's earn their stripes.</p>

Lets all hope together that he can because it looks like he's going to have to light it up for us to win this game.</p>

We're on fumes? I disagree.

We are hurting at CB and WR and thats it.

Eli has done that before - see 09

Giants CB Prince Amukamara has begun doing cornerback drills in this week's practices.</P></DIV>
<DIV class=impact>"I don't feel pain at all but right now," Amukamara said, but cautioned that he's still "timid and hesitant, it's pretty awkward right now." The Giants seem to be targeting an early October return for Amukamara. Fill-in starter Aaron Ross was benched during Monday night's game, so Amukamara could have a major role by mid-season. </DIV>

</P>

We all know he's going to pull a hammy or a quad before he has a chance to help us.</P>

the one thing that rings in my head about this is Beatty hjad the same injur ylsat year and he said he wasn't right for the rest of the season because he didn't have the confidence that his foot could hold up. I would have to think, it would be harder for Prince to overcome as well
</P>

The guy had no mini camps, to training camp, no pre season games. No work with the defense..He's obviously not going to be in any kind of shape.</P>

If we try to bring him back without proper preparation he's going to get hurt. It is highly unlikely that Prince will be in a position to help us until much later in the season, and lets face it, our season may very well be over by then.</P>

i think we have enough of a schedule the first half that we could maintain. We need somebody to step up in the secondary and the line to get it together. I think the line will end up being okay, but it really starts this week.

This will really set the tone for us as a team. Win or lose, it is about how we are going to play this week
</P>

We were lucky to beat a team at home with their best offensive player out and a bunch of undrafted free agents running pass patterns.</P>

I hate to be a pessimist and I hope I'm wrong but we are on the verge of collapse. How on earth are we going to cover Jackson and Maclin when we could cover whoever was out there for the Rams?</P>

I see them putting up a 45 burger on us. </P>

Maybe we can run the ball...maybe. but with the injuries at WR they will be stuffing 9 guys in the box.</P>

I really don't know who is in worse shape, the Giants or the Sox.</P>

I disagree. STeven Jackson would of made no difference in that agme. We are stout against the run.

Again per Fewell alot of passes given up were on miscommunications. Is it really impossible to thin kthat this is the week we've gotten it together. Do you not remember how we started the 07 season?

Its week 3 pappy. 3 weeks from now is a life time.

I think we'll be alrite. I like to see hwat Coe can do to be honest.

We hit Vick last year - thats why we almost won that second game. Thats the key to it all. Hitting vick and containing McCoy

3 weeks from now is a life time.

id like to be optimistic but if these passes and "miscues" have been happening since last year. i see jackson and mclain tourching us, again. how can you not.
and i think theres a big difference between spags and fewell. BIG. we all have to accept fewell isnt that good of a dc.

well no sense in debating it. Have to see what happens on sunday

but just know that we ran ALOT more man than originally thought.

I think we'll be alrite. I like to see hwat Coe can do to be honest.

We hit Vick last year - thats why we almost won that second game. Thats the key to it all. Hitting vick and containing McCoy

And then not playing the worst football ever for 7.5 minutes
</P>

You know what? We really haven't played any good football since then.</P>

I appreciate your optimism. I wish I had it right now. This may be the most pessimistic I've been going into a game since I can remember. I can also see the beginnings of a player mutiny against this HC if things do spiral downward.</P>

Mario Manningham (concussion) is missing from Giants practice again on Friday.</p>

The New York beat writers had already
considered Manningham doubtful to play. The only legit chance he had was
to pass concussion tests, gain medical clearance, and return for
Friday's practice. Expect the official injury report to reflect that
Manningham has been ruled out against the Eagles. Victor Cruz will
likely start outside with Brandon Stokley in the slot, though neither is
a recommended fantasy option against the Eagles' stout pass defense.

but u said two of our better players? Who is the other one your referring to - Cofield or Boss? Honestly not that it matters though because our DTs have never looked better and TE role is being filled nicely. But just curious as to who you are referring?

We didn't add depth to our LBs? Thats because we have 4 rookies who looked awesome lol. Why would we add?

SEcondary? We drafted Sash, Prince and resigned Grant. Added wtih Rolle, Phillips, T2, Webster, and Ross.

we can talk about specifics...but it just comes down to our inability to adapts and evolve, like you all have been mentioning recently. we're stale...
realistically you cant replace your entire roster with rookies. granted i know that wasn't our intention or anything, but...we have alot of them, and that wasnt our style really.</P>

I'm just upset is all I guess, we all know how frustrating it has been to see this team come off a superbowl and do a whole ton of NOTHING since....</P>

well that I disagree with. We offered him a 2 mil contract and he got a 3mil contract

We could of landed smith if we wanted

Smith had alterior motives....he would have signed here...and 3 million ISN'T that big of a deal for us to sign him since he was good when healthy. I dont agree with the decisions from both parties, but that's business (unless youre Smith in which case, youre just a ****)</P>

Smith was coming off of a 2nd round rookie contract... money makes the difference to him.

Plus it was an insult the way the Giants handled it. Only thing I dont like Smith doing is denying the fact that the Giants offered him a big deal last year

But look for whoever the coach is to bring in a back up who isn't a chump like Carr. Look for a guy who will push Eli. AND look for them to draft a QB in the first few years as well.</P>

so me and blondi ehave a completely DOMINANT team in this $250 league we're in

QB: Romo &amp; Eli
RB: McCoy &amp; Rice - Fred Jackson, Tim Hightower, Mike Tolbert
WR: Mike Wallace, Stevie Johnson, Jeremy Maclin - Julio Jones, Lance Moore
TE: Witten

so we're going to trade Stevie Johnson &amp; Tim Hightower 4 Calvin Johnson

then some mo-mo dropped Owen Daniels so we're gonna scoop him up

then w'e're gonna cut Moore and sign Grossman, just so we don't get teagbagged by Romo not playing MNF

They really will do whatever it takes to win in this epic rivalry.</p>

New York Yankees (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/nyy/new-york-yankees) general manager Brian Cashman admitted Thursday that he feigned interest in Carl Crawford (http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/5035/carl-crawford) last offseason to drive up the price for the Boston Red Sox (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/bos/boston-red-sox) to sign the free agent.</p>

"I actually had dinner with the agent to pretend that we were actually
involved and drive the price up," Cashman said. "The outfield wasn't an
area of need, but everybody kept writing Crawford, Crawford, Crawford,
Crawford. And I was like, 'I feel like we've got Carl Crawford in Brett Gardner (http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/29174/brett-gardner), except he costs more than $100 million less, with less experience.' "</p>

Surprisingly, one could argue that Gardner has had a better season
than Crawford. Gardner is batting .261 and leads the league with 46
steals. Crawford never got going in Boston and is hitting .259 with only
18 steals, the fewest he's had since his rookie season.</p>

Going into the season, Cashman said Red Sox GM Theo Epstein, who also landed Adrian Gonzalez (http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/5405/adrian-gonzalez), "kicked my a-- in the offseason."</p>

How does he feel now after winning the division?</p>

"What
I said was accurate: The Red Sox had a great winter, and I had a bad
winter," Cashman said. "But as it turned out, I had a better winter than
anybody would've expected, including myself."</p>

And it cost the Red Sox.</p>

great day to be a giants yankee fan
</p>

After Saturday, do you believe in Montero yet??

I was at the game, and well...I thought of you....nohomo.
shoulda text you to ask ya then lol</p>

dude, the kid has had 52 at bats this year

nobody is proven or disproven at this point. Honestly, Shane Spencer had 67 at bats.

Stop jinxing and crowning players with these low sample sizes. Talk to me at the end of next year and we'll know about him

thats pretty funny cause when he hit that shot to dead center i thought of you. lol
im impressed. but id rather leave him dh, next year too. i like martin

jones had a pretty good year dhing and playing left as well
</P>

Well, I think they will make him a DH, but I kinda think it's a waste. I feel like maybe they will convert him to an OF once Swisher's tenure is up.
Seems likea waste to have a young guy as a DH only.</P>

OK guys.....Yes I was on a plane during the game. I was able to listen to it on the internet on the plane on WFAN. I also saw the highlights.</P>

This is exactly what I want to see from Eli. Conservative, dumping it off and getting the ball to the playmakers in space. And how about Victor Cruz? I noticed some of this on Monday where Eli was dumping it off later in the game when plays downfield weren't there. Last year Eli would have gone all "gunlinger" (still laugh when I say that) and chucked it into coverage. This year he's protecting the ball more. 3 of the 4 TD's were short passes where guys made plays. Ans all 4 were great plays made by the pass catchers.</P>

The defense was unexplainably good. Hard to imagine it was the same team we saw on Monday.</P>

My mood has gone from pure pessimism to relative optimism in one day. Maybe, just maybe we might have a decent year.</P>

I won't post much this week so go ahead and crush me when I'm gone.</P>
