according to espn saints coverted for a first down ALMOST EVERY PLAY. lmao

still okay with the coaching?
i like tc running the show, clearly i havnt been ok with fewell
</p>

I'm over it.
Don't get me wrong...I like Tom Coughlin, but he lost this team so long ago that we are barely competitive anymore going into the second half of the season.
How aggravating is it, that it's PREDICTABLE to know EXACTLY what our team is going to do after week 8?!?! It's like CLOCKWORK!!!</p>

i hold the player just as accountable as the coaches. especially after last night. no heart whatsoever. have some ****ing pride.

well right there, that leads to the head coach. At the end of the day its the HC's responsibility to make sure they are ready to play. They weren't. Welcome to the reality of the fact that TC has to go
the head coach is responsible for you having pride in yourself? come on. these are grown men.
</p>

You overestimate the motivation of millionaires.........</p>

essentially what dez is saying is that its never on the head coaches

The HC is responsible for his staff. The GM gets players, the HC gets coordinators and position coaches

As big of a TC fan that I am, I think we need a change, hell TC's been through 3 DCs in his time here..... He has no more coordinator changes in his tenure

Jeff Fischer anyone???

The Giants’ defense seemed to be resigned to the fact that Brees would carve them up.</p>

“Drew’s one of the best quarterbacks in this country (http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/giants/stung_by_killer_brees_MYdYFJdMCtcM4igk2NAbsM),” Justin Tuck (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3286/justin-tuck) told the New York Post.
“He knows most of the time where he wants to go with the football
before the ball’s snapped. It’s tough to disguise him, because he
figures out so fast what you’re doing, and <font color="#0000FF">then disguising, you kind of
put yourself in bad situations. So you almost have to play somewhat
vanilla coverages</font>, which obviously puts the ball directly in his court
to make plays.”</p>

Woooooooooooooow

hate to say it - looks like "MY SOURCE" was spot on again
</p>

Well if you listened to our coach, he said they were "well prepared".</p>

This coaching staff is a complete failure. At what point is our ownership actually going to hold our leadership accountable?</p>

They failed over the past 2 years. And I don't want any retreads. I don't want Gruden or Cowher. I want a young innovative coach who isn't so blindly loyal to his assistants that he allows mediocrity to flourish like TC has here.</p>

I would also like a HC who doesn't just carry a reputation as a disciplinarian. I want a coach who fields a team that actually PLAYS with discipline. Which this team hasn't done for years.</p>

</p>

I'm with you on every point. In the offseason when we were discussing HC options, i also said i dont want either of those guys. I want a young guy to run this team, and NOT lose theirmotivation and attentionevery season. </p>

and reese goes blameless? reese had just as much of a part in choosing our dcs as much as coughlin.

Reece was handed a coach who won a superbowl in his first year on the job. Reece deserves props for us for having the talent out there after all the injuries we suffered. I don't know the process of who picks the DCs. I dont know if Reece had more to do with it or Coughlin did. Either way it was a bad call. But coordinating had nothing to do with last night. Guys weren't a<u>ggressive, leaving people wide open in man, not reacting in zone, not tackling, not hits on QB, nobody winning one on one bvattles.</u>

Again, this team is unprepared
i think theres plenty of blame to go around. to dump it all in tcs lap is very unfair imo. fewell is just as responsible as tc is with everything you just mentioned.
</p>

overall, yes, the blame goes on TC. We've put it off for over 2 years now.
Guess what Dezzz....this D had problems before Fewell got here, you have such a hard-on of hate for him, it's weird.
<u>Why cant you just accept that our coaching has brought up a bunch of underachievers for the past 3-4 seasons??</u></p>

i assure you i had just as much hate for sheridan. not sure what you mean. draft?

na hes saying that talent has been here and we've underacheived for 4 years. Not 1 playoff win? Disgracful
</p>

precisely.
over this 4 year period, i've been reluctant to blame coaching...it's hard to when you won a superbowl with the guy.
But let's be honest. WE KNOW we have talent on our team....and it's so clear to me now that we are performing at a low level, with a high level of talent.
THAT'S the coaching....hard to deny anymore.</p>Receivers dropped ALOT of passes last night. I am frustrated too--who else can we blame besides the coaches?

Like MH said...I dont want the old school disciplinarian style anymore. that's what Cowher is like, and i dont think these guys would play well for him. and honestly, me personally i just dont like him.

The Eagles are 1-8 in the regular season and postseason at Lincoln
Financial Field since beating the Texans on Dec. 2, 2010. Temple
football has five wins at Lincoln Financial since then, Penn State
football has one win, Toledo football has one win and even Real Madrid
football has one win there. Perhaps we've finally found the best way to
describe the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles: they're as good at football as a
Spanish soccer team.

Morehead and I want young blood for a new HC. Someone who is going to whip these guys into overdrive and make them earn their paychecks.
Like MH said...I dont want the old school disciplinarian style anymore. that's what Cowher is like, and i dont think these guys would play well for him. and honestly, me personally i just dont like him.

I would definitely like to give Spags a shot if we could ever pull that off!!</p>

Should Tuck go on IR?
yesIf that winds up forcing us to use JPP at DE rather than DT then Im all for it. If it happens that we'll have Tolly and Osi at the ends and JPP spelling them and playing DT then ill pass

The problem with Stevie Johnson on Sunday wasn't his mocking finger-guns
celebration or the penalty that ensued, it's that he forgot to put the
finger guns away. Have you ever tried to catch a football with finger
guns? It's almost impossible.

I believe Spags is labeled a 'players coach' as well

PC doesnt mean soft, or whatever people associate with Mangini, Wade Phillips, etc. PC is just a coach that is one with the team, like he sees himself as a player as well, and he's the kind of guy players WANT to play for (Tomlin, The Ryan Bros, Kubiak, Harbaugh's, etc)

#1) wasn't it Coughlin himself who said Injuries are no excuse about Fassel?
#2) isn't it Jerry Reese's job to develop depth so that even if injuries do present we have good depth?

look we are still in good shape we have to play Dallas twice...we gotta win those games...but if we do we are in control...and once you get into the playoffs who knows what will happen.

But the #1 thing we need to do for that to happen is hand the offense off to Eli...let him do what he does, the #2 thing we need to do is create turnovers on Defense....because honestly they aren't good enough to stuff teams over and over again this year.

sorry if it's been said but 2 things about all these injuries.

But the #1 thing we need to do for that to happen is hand the offense off to Eli...let him do what he does, the #2 thing we need to do is create turnovers on Defense....because honestly they aren't good enough to stuff teams over and over again this year.

well thats why I dont put the blame on Reese because I feel like even with all of these injuries we've had we've still had the talent on the field to produce

<u>the fact that they haven't is why I blame coughlin</u>
this really is absurd and unfair criticism. tc is not alone in this, please admit that....

what else can this guy do? grab some pom poms? hes not the one calling the plays. all the players say they support him. maybe they hate the plays being called.

Funny you mention shockey, my dad texted me last night asking if Shockey was still 80 on the saints.

LMAO, I love your dad! Bless his heart, I bet you got a good laugh out of that one.

Graham looks a little like Shockey in his ultimate prime. That kid is a beast. I really have to thank MH for trading him to me. He saved me last night, or should I say the Giants D saved me last night. OUCH!

I agree. The HC's job is overseeing everything

So we have bad gameplanning and the players are unmotivated....

somehow u see that as a copout to keep Coughlin but thats usually prime reasons #1 a coach is fired.

as bad as Plax going down was the fact that losing him could demolish our team so much is a knock on Coughlin. One injury to the WR could completely derail your team?

I want to dominate teams again. Not like Brees did to us last night, because we were not built to have that type of performance all the time, maybe now with an improved Eli and his young receiving core we are....but the way we used to dominate with unmerciful defense and a ground and pound run game accented with brilliant passing attack.

Since I'm not married, and I don't have children, I can honestly say that day was one of the greatest memories I've ever had...
But honestly, it's ****ing 2012 in a month...not 07.
That Lombardi trophy doesnt mean **** now. Coughlin is not the coach of this team anymore, he's just a guy with a headset now it seems.
Just axe everyone on the team (trainers and conditioning coachesincluded obviously, eesh) and we start from scratch. We have talented players, and when healthy, I'm very confident with the depth that Reese has given us.
I still feel we need to address LB in a major way, and it DOES annoy me that we havnt made noise in free agency very often, but that's my one knock on Reese is that he has clearly left a few holes....

But whether owners clean house, or just the coaching staff....we need a fresh start somewhere...

which Coughlin over sees and signs off on. I can't give you a break if u feel good about how the 2008 season played out. Plax was a freak, no doubt but the fact that the loss of him could completely sabotage your whole team the way that the Colts losing Peyton Manning did is completely unacceptable.

I just heard on radio today that the NBA is doing something cool

They are giving the teams to dump one bad contract over the next 5 years at any time and it wont count against their sal cap (they'll still have to pay it though)

I see a team coming to back door deals with a superstar whose under a big contract and then they will give it up and sign for a minimum so that they can sign another superstar.

I like it though. Sometimes can abuse the rule and others will get out of a bad deal. Imagine if the Knicks had thise like 3 years ago

Imagine if the Knicks had thise like 3 years ago

bah

That is a great idea. There are some terrible ones. Arenas, Rashard Lewis, Joe Johnson.

Not sure if you saw this or not but it's pretty crazy to me....

Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose was surprised there's a provision in the
NBA's pending new CBA that's being called "The Derrick Rose Rule" and
rewards players of his caliber. The rule allows a player finishing his
rookie contract to make 30 percent of a team's salary cap -- up from 25
percent -- if he's twice been voted an All-Star starter, twice been
voted All-NBA or won an MVP award. Rose, 23, is the reigning MVP. "It's
unbelievable," Rose told CSNChicago.com. "But the rule, I guess, it fits
me for what I've achieved at a young age and hopefully there will be a
couple more people like me."

The Knicks are so sure they can land Paul with their cap space in 2012 they only are offering one-year deals now. (http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/thomas_leaning_to_bulls_ez85m8YPnRBzOD8BFhxL1M)
The Knicks realize they don’t have the young pawns/draft picks to land
Paul in an extend-and-trade, as their tradeable assets were shipped away
in the Anthony deal. The Knicks would have been better off had the
clause been taken out of the CBA, assuring Paul’s free agency. Anthony
told The Post in October, “If it works out and he comes here, you’ll see
a smile from ear to ear.’’
<p class="rumortext">While Boston is not shopping Rajon Rondo, it would be open to trading him in the right deal, (http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/33566/chris-paul-and-new-yorks-hopes) sources say. When the NBA couldn’t get a full ban on sign-and-trades, it left his
Lakers in position to pull off a coup they’re dreaming of, which would
make signing LeBron James (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/players/playerpage/400553) pale by comparison.

If Dwight Howard and Chris Paul wind up on the market — a safe
assumption as far as I’m concerned — the Lakers could offer Andrew Bynum
for Dwight and Pau Gasol for CP3, or vice versa.

Nothing says that they will be enough to land either player, but it should put the Lakers in the running for both.

Oh, and Dwight likes the Lakers. Asked which All-Star he would most like to play with last season, he answered “Kobe Bryant.”

Injured New York Rangers (http://rangers.nhl.com/) defenseman and Marc Staal (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8471686)
has begun skating lightly on his own at the team's practice facility in
Greenburgh, N.Y., according to a report from ESPNNewYork.com, which
cites sources.

Staal reportedly skated briefly Monday and was on the ice again Tuesday
morning. He has not played this season due to the aftereffects of a
concussion he suffered Feb. 22, a result of a hard hit he took from his
older brother, Carolina captain Eric Staal (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8470595).

The Rangers host the Pittsburgh Penguins (http://penguins.nhl.com/) on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden (7:30 p.m. ET, Versus, TSN2).

I get it. I know.
I dont think it has to do with how i was raised in terms of my generation. I think it's just how my family is. We wrestled my dad all the times as kids...my brothers and i would kick the **** out of each other....we would box with my dad and **** like that. It's not a respect thing as much as it is just commonplace for us I guess.
I dont view it as "i raised a hand to my father"....it's just "how we roll"

I know I'm old fashioned Pizz. I admit that. I invented my "rule of 25". My kids can drink at 21, but they can't drink in front of me until 25.</p>

This is where I came from. I think its actually healthy, but I try hard to not judge. (I may fail but I try)</p>

</p>thats how it is in my family. theres an unspoken line thats never crossed. we tease eachother all the time and all that, but if i were to slap my dad lol, id be eating my teeth. especially in public.

of course i dont agree with that 25 rule. if your old enough to fight for your country, you should be old enough to enjoy a cold one with your old man.

I get it.
ONCE I gotinto itwith my dad and tried to legitimatelyhit him...
And there's a reason I only tried once, let's put it that way.</p>You shouldn't hang me on a hook, Johnny. My father hung me on a hook once. Once!

****....yea i could imagine how difficult it would be to handle that.
I've sworn to myself that if anyone even came close to hitting my mother, you'd have to drag me off that person's bloody body after i was done with them. I mean, it angers me right now just thinking about it.</p>Every single person say's I should of pummeled him. I could not bring myself to hurt my own child...maybe there's something wrong with me? Idk. Alot of issues surrounding him. Addiction is a horrible disease. I/we have done everything(and continue to do) multiple times....he's doing great right now, but it's day by day. Our relationship was probably the best a father and son could have until age 15---We did absolutely everything together-I coached his sports teams, den leadered boy scouts, camping, got involved with his karate teacher, worked out &amp; competed together. Our relationship is solid again now. Great memmories. I pray everyday that he maintains the strength to fight his demons.

"We'll keep fighting," Tuck said in his weekly interview with WFAN
radio. "There are some issues we have to get fixed. This is a playoff
... The playoffs have started for us. We haven't given us any margin for
error."</p>

"I understand that this is a season where things haven't gone

difference maker in a season. Hopefully we can go out and shock the
world. If that happens we are right back where we want to be."</p>

The
Giants (6-5) stagger into the Packers game having lost three straight.
They are coming off a 49-24 rout in New Orleans where the defense was
embarrassed by Drew Brees (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/2580/drew-brees), who threw for four touchdowns and ran for another.</p>

"This
team will embarrass us in front of our home folks and it will be worse
than it was [against the Saints]," Tuck said of the Packers if the
Giants don't play better. "I am actually glad it is a quick turnaround
[before playing Green Bay]."</p>

"We played badly," Tuck added.
"Hopefully for us we use that as motivation and that we are not going to
come out here and embarrass ourselves out here again and what better
week to do that than against the Super Bowl champion Packers." </p>

Eli is the 5th QB in NFL History with seven consecutive seasons with at least 3,000 yards and 20 TD's.
funny you brought that up, someone called up fat mike yesterday and said that. fat mike tried blowing it off "today you have guys like breez and payton who throw for 5000 yards now. its pretty impressive but not as much as it use to be." made me mad. he was teeing off on the giants yesterday. he sounded frustrated.
</P>

In today's game, if a QB throws for less than 3000 yards and less than 20 TD's, the fans would be calling for his head.</P>

Then how come ben hasn't done it?

In reality the only reaosn Rivers hasn't done it was because he didn't start the first 2-3 years he was in the league. He already has 3k and 16 Tds. I guess its possible he doesn't hit it this year, but doubtful that he doesnt
</P>

Because he missed games in several seasons. That stat suggests a starting QB who hasn't missed significant time in 7 years. If Eli had a season where he threw for 3000 yards and 20 TD's it would be the worst season of his career. It would be the worst season of the careers of most starting QB's in the NFL.</P>

Its about durability more than excellence.</P>

<font size="5">Rangers Looking At Bobby Ryan</font>

Rangers general manager Glen Sather has been in touch with Ducks
counterpart Bob Murray regarding the availability of 24-year-old power
winger Bobby Ryan, The Post has learned.</p>

It is unclear whether
Sather is simply conducting due diligence regarding Ryan, who is being
dangled by the skidding Ducks, or whether discussions have evolved
beyond the tire-kicking stage.</p>

The Rangers, who toppled the
Penguins 4-3 last night, have a number of prime assets to send to the
Ducks for Ryan, who will attract considerable interest from big-time
franchises throughout the league as Anaheim — which is on streaks of
0-5, 0-6-1 and 1-10-3 in carrying a 6-13-4 record into tonight’s match
against Montreal — is seeking to replenish by gaining a package of
young, cap-friendly players in exchange for the three-time 30-goal
scorer.</p>
<div id="intext_area_middle" class="intext_area narrow">
<div class="block ad wrap quigo">
<div class="ad quigo">

</div>
</div>
</div>

It is believed the Rangers consider Ryan Callahan, Derek Stepan, Marc
Staal (who has begun skating on his own), Dan Girardi, Ryan McDonagh
and Michael Sauer to be untouchables within the organization regarding
this particular equation.</p>

“The Rangers have a lot of assets within
the organization,” an individual familiar with the situation told The
Post. “A lot of assets.”</p>

Ryan, who has recorded 11 points (7-4)
following last season’s 71-point performance (34-37), has been a part of
the Ducks’ formidable first-line that includes reigning Hart Trophy
winner Corey Perry and center Ryan Getzlaf. </p>

The 6-foot-2,
210-pound New Jersey native has three seasons following this one
remaining on a contract that carries a $5.1 million cap hit. Ryan, a
right-handed shot who can play either wing, is due to become an
unrestricted free agent following 2014</p>

You could be right. Everyone is going to want Dwight. People will offer alot but if Dwight won't resign with the team he is traded to then it's a big risk ala D Will. He could leave NJ after this year and be an unrestricted FA. The team that Dwight gets traded to will want him to commit to a long term deal before they give up everything. The Nets were kind of silly for doing that unless D Will resigns.

“The last three seasons have been marred by collapse,” Barber wrote.
“A once vaunted running game and stingy-aggressive defense have given
way to mediocrity and Eli Manning (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1657/eli-manning) being the only saving grace. Hopes of dynastic Super Bowl runs have morphed into ‘let’s hope we win more than we lose.’”</p>The main subject of Barber’s column, however, was Giants coach Tom Coughlin.

“And in the midst of a three game losing streak, after consecutive
ugly losses, and potentially on the verge of making it four with the
undefeated Green Bay Packers next on the docket, how do we “fairly”
evaluate Tom Coughlin?” Barber wrote. “Maybe I’m not qualified to answer
that because I’m not in that locker room anymore; However, watching
from afar, I get the feeling that things aren’t necessarily “all good”
over at MetLife Stadium.”</p>

<u>
Guess that falls on the coach right Dez? </u>

As NY Giants HC, Coughlin is 19 and 37 vs teams with a winning record

Wow!

I guess that falls on the players not being motivated when we play winning teams.
and at what point do we blame the players? its so easy to blame one person, isnt it guys?

Carl Banks, Brad Van Pelt, Mark Bavaro, Alex Webster and Dave Jennings will be inducted in the NYG Ring of Honor on Sunday
Cool, will be good to see Banks and Bavaro there. Only bad part is that they will be on the sidelines and witness to a masacre worse than Monday's Saint's game. [:(]
