Its very bad Karma to have your avatar along with your tag line while we are in the playoffs.</p>

May I suggest you change both or we are doomed, given your history of jinxing our beloved team.</p>
May I suggest the reason we are winning is because no one has changed anything on their avatar. It's bad juju to change it. Dezz has but he doesn't matter. I have wanted to change mine for a long time but I REFUSE. Same thing for Facebook as well.

Change is upon us and it's good and it's working!!!

HERE WE GO GIANTS HERE WE GO BIG BLUE
I put up cruz td before dallas and we crushed them, and i put up ashley shaffer last week and the defense delivered a shut out.

Damn yo, no wonder I have nobodys autograph.

$40-$50 for a damned autograph is INSANE.* Do they charge you if you dont bring your own sharpie!?!?!

I have my 'Entrance' and 'Exit' signs from the old stadium, but the only person Id pay to sign them is Eli, Strahan, Maybe Coughlin, and Mr Mara.... I wouldnt be paying $50 for someone that is a rookie for us

And people wonder about the state of the economy....

Very classy organization, the Pat's are. Similar to NYG in that respect.

Cruz broke our franchise recieving yards record and tied our longest franchise td yard record in his first full season with the team. That is a steal for his signing.

Boley with the champ belt sack celebration, I love that! My first order of biz today is to find that pic.

The issue witht he officiating and Bill Levy needs to be addressed. GB could of been denied addtl points if not for the Jennings fumble and the non-existent Osi helmet to helmet.

I need an explaination from the league on that horrific jennings non reversal. The Osi hit was a terrible call obviously but that was an opinion on the field. The Jennings play was reviewed and was clearly, without any argument a fumble.</P>

This play is the reason the league has instant replay. How on earth could this poor excuse for a referee not make the right call?</P>

I have to assume that the refs have as many replay camera angles as we see on tv, if not more from their in stadium cameras. There was no grey area at all with that fumble.

Makes me wonder sometimes. The league wanted Green Bay to move on?

Just like in the past, the refs get away with it. I wrote earlier that there should be a ref report card or scoring system. If there are too many marginal/questionable calls on a ref-then they should have to undergo additonal training/schooling and absolutely be denied the opportunity to ref in playoff games.

The officials in the Replay Booth have access to all of the views available from the network covering the game whether they are shown to the home audience or not. They get no additional views and there are no views that are off limits. Prior to the Referee going “under the hood,” the Replay Official (Al Hynes, an ex-official and NFL Supervisor with over 30 years of officiating experience, in Sunday’s Giants – Packers game) and the Replay Assistant will rack up all of the views available from the TV truck and take a quick look to see which ones may have a view that can help determine the accuracy of the call on the field.</P>

Regarding the officiating: How does it make a **** bit of difference that the league is considering making the refs full time employees next year. The argument I heard is that then they can be fired? Wtf, they can't fire part time employees the same way?

If it takes the fear of losing your job to make the proper call, then the problem is worse than I thought.

The Giants are 3-4 all-time against the 49ers in the
postseason, including some memorable and classic games. The most recent
playoff matchup was nine years ago -- the game in which the Giants had a
38-14 lead in the third quarter but gave up 25 straight points and lost
to Jeff Garcia (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/2026/jeff-garcia).
The last time the Giants won a playoff game in San Francisco was the
NFC Championship Game on Jan. 20, 1991 to advance to the Super Bowl in
which they would defeat the Buffalo Bills (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/buf/buffalo-bills).

Linebacker Michael Boley played perhaps his finest game as a
Giant, recording eight solo tackles, two sacks and three tackles for
loss. His two sacks were huge momentum-changing plays.

Running back Brandon Jacobs was helped into the end zone in the second half after bearing witness to a rare block by Eli Manning on an Ahmad Bradshaw run. His teammates called it a "chicken wing" block and Jacobs later joked, <font color="#0000FF">"That is terrible technique at this level." LMAO!!!!!</font>

Jacobs found a Giants fan in the stands after scoring and ran over to
celebrate. The fan was imploring him to jump into the stands, but
Jacobs wasn't up to it.</p>

"'Leap! Leap!' He said leap. I was saying, 'No, no!'" Jacobs said.
Jacobs added that there were a lot of Giants fans in Green Bay, and
their support meant a lot.</p>

Here are two questions for you to start your Championship Week: What
would have happened if Ernie Accorsi hadn't had such a backbone on April
24, 2004? And what would have happened if A.J. Smith had played
hardball with Accorsi as the clock wound down on the fourth overall pick
of the 2004 NFL Draft, with just seven minutes to go and the Giants on
the clock?</p>

Ben Roethlisberger a Giant.</p>

Osi Umenyiora (not Shawne Merriman) a Charger.</p>

Eli Manning a Charger.</p>

It
takes a big story to throw the 49ers off the front page of Monday
Morning Quarterback today -- and you Niner fans will get your love soon
enough, courtesy of the man who made the block of the year in NFL -- but
the fates of Manning and Umenyiora, after their huge combined role in
the Giants' 37-20 trouncing of the top-seeded Packers last evening, were
on my mind as I sat down to write. I've told the story of the 2004
draft and the Manning/Chargers/Giants love triangle before, but the
Umenyiora part of it has never gotten its due.</p>

Smith, the
Chargers' rookie GM at the time, asked then-Giants GM Accorsi for
unknown second-year pass-rusher Umenyiora in the week before the draft.
No, Accorsi said; I don't trade young pass-rushers. San Diego had the
first pick in the draft, and Manning said he didn't want to play for San
Diego, but the Chargers picked him anyway -- and everyone in football
knew they wanted North Carolina State quarterback Philip Rivers instead;
the Manning pick was going to force the Giants to deal a ransom for him
because Accorsi loved Manning and Smith knew it. So with the Giants on
the clock, Smith called again.</p>

"He brought up Umenyiora again,'' Accorsi told me last night, "and I said no. We were not giving him up. There was no way.''</p><div style="overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;">

So now the trade teetered. If Smith had insisted on Umenyiora and
killed the deal, Accorsi had an ace up his sleeve: He could trade down
three spots and pick up a second-round pick from Cleveland ... and still
draft the Giants' No. 2 quarterback on the board, Ben Roethlisberger
from Miami of Ohio. The Giants liked Manning much more, but Accorsi
wouldn't budge on Umenyiora. Accorsi offered the Giants' first- and
third-round picks in '04, and an '05 first-rounder. "We still want
Osi,'' Smith told him.</p>

Tick, tick, tick ...</p>

Two minutes left.</p>

Accorsi's last, best offer.</p>

"No Osi,'' he said. "That's still a deal-breaker. But we'll throw in a six next year.''</p>

Pause on the line from San Diego.</p>

Tick, tick, tick ...</p>

"Make it a four,'' Smith said.</p>

"I'll give you a five,'' Accorsi said.</p>

Done.</p>

On
Sunday, here came the Packers, down 20-10 to start the second half,
starting and stopping down the field, trying desperately to find some
rhythm. Five minutes into the half, Aaron Rodgers had the Pack at the
Giants' 30, and it was first down, and he took the snap and looked over a
packed secondary that had frustrated him throughout the first half.
From Rodgers' left, Umenyiora took an inside move against left tackle
Chad Clifton, beating him as Clifton flailed away. </p>

Now 30
and coming off knee and ankle injuries and a contract hissing match with
current GM Jerry Reese earlier this season, Umenyiora sped in and
batted the ball out of Rodgers' hand just as he went to pass. (Telling
stat from FOX just then: The forced fumble was the 32nd of Umenyiora's
nine-year career. That's a lot.) Giants recovered. Packers never got
closer than seven the rest of the way. Umenyiora had two of the Giants'
four sacks, and the line made sure Rodgers was never comfortable all
day.</p>

Accorsi liked defensive linemen, and he stocked this
team with Umenyiora, Justin Tuck and Mathias Kiwanuka before he left
the team after the 2006 season. In came Reese, and he's taken it up a
notch: Chris Canty and Rocky Bernard in free agency, along with Dave
Tollefson (a seventh-round pick from Green Bay who was cut, signed to
Oakland's practice squad, and then signed by the Giants from the
Raiders), and Linval Joseph and Jason Pierre-Paul in the draft. Can't
have enough defensive linemen. That, plus their cool quarterback and his
receiving weapons, is why the Giants are one win away from their second
Super Bowl in four years.</p>

"People have always depicted
what we did in that '04 draft as an obsession with Eli Manning,'' said
Accorsi. "It wasn't. If we'd have had to, we'd have taken
Roethlisberger, and we'd have been fine with that. We just weren't
giving up Umenyiora.''</p>

Almost eight years later, Accorsi's
stubbornness is a big reason the Giants are headed to San Francisco for
Sunday's NFC Championship Game ... and just as big a reason the Packers
feel so deflated this morning.</p>

</p>

GOD BLESS THAT MAN!!!

“We wouldn’t say we’re unstoppable, but our mindset is extreme at
this point. We’re not going to be denied. . . . I might be a little
biased, but in our minds, we can’t be beat (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giants/antrel-rolle-ny-giants-t-beat-heading-sunday-nfc-championship-game-san-francisco-49ersy-giants-t-beat-article-1.1007269),” Rolle said Monday, per Peter Botte of the New York Daily News.</p>

“It don’t matter who we play,” Rolle said. “You can put an All-Star
team in front of us, and we’re going to go out there and compete. We
don’t fold. No matter what happens, if there’s a bad call, or things
aren’t going our way, we’re not going to break.”</p>

Though the boastfulness can invite trouble for the Giants, there’s no
replacement for confidence, regardless of its source. And the Giants
seem to have just as much confidence as they had in 2007, when some of
them said they’d beat the unbeaten Patriots — and they did.</p>

Really, the Giants seem like the best overall team remaining in the
postseason field. They have the defense to hold the opponent’s score in
a range that their offense can overcome, whether the opponent is the
49ers, Ravens, or Patriots again.</p>

With all the chatter about Colts quarterback Peyton Manning (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1493/peyton-manning)
possibly pulling a Favre and trading his years of Indy equity for a
fresh start in the Big Apple, his brother Eli has gotten in on the talk,
too.</p>

“It would be fun (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8261142c/article/big-apple-big-enough-for-both-mannings-eli-would-make-room?module=HP11_headline_stack),”
Eli tells WEPN-AM, via NFL.com. “We could probably commute to work
maybe, and, you know, come home, eat dinner together and have the kids
be playing.”</p>

Eli then continued to have fun with the possibility of sharing a city
with his sibling: “Twin beds . . . we could share notes on opponents
and watch some film together.”</p>

But then Eli, who has a chance to double his brother’s career Super Bowl wins in the House That Peyton Built, turned serious.</p>

“[W]ould it be fun?” Eli said. “Yeah, I think it would be
interesting to have your brother in the same city playing football
together. I don’t think we would see each other that often, just ’cause
I . . . think our schedules would be a whole lot different, probably
just talk on the phone more than see each other during the season, but,
you know, it would be interesting.</p>

“I’m not saying it’s gonna happen or I want it to happen, but to have
your brother that close to you and playing in New York would be very
unique.”</p>

If we win this week, Ravens or Pats. I want revenge for 2000
I would rather play Baltimore because I think we could beat them and NE scares me.

They scare me equally...

I think we own Brady. I think we actually mentally get to him. I don't fear him nearly as much as other teams should
Right now I feel like the Giants can beat anybody with the way they are playing..that being said I take no game as a given never have never will..Balt may be the easier game to win who knows ....As far a Brady goes hes no different than any other good QB, get pressure on him put him on his back he'll **** the bed just like Rogers last week ....We just need our D to keep balling like they are right now and we'll kick all of their asses........lets put the ****s to the49'ersfirst !!! Go Giants !!!!</P>

</P>

</P>

I think the same exact thing. Time and time again I've shared with you all my opinion on cheering on my team. I don't EXPECT us to win. I don't like setting myself up for disappointment.
But that being said.....I feel we're unstoppable right now. We're playing amazing football right now.
I admire the offenses' 'attempt' to stick to the run, even when it wasn't really working for us. 80+ yards, not what I want to settle for in the playoffs, but....for this game it worked. We have to stay true to the run game though...HAVE TO!</P>

I wouldnt say they are overated. they are exactly where they deserve to be.
I will say that there offense is probably playing above their level. this weekend though? this aint no saints defense. everyone is playing good D</P>

The NFL is a crazy place. One week you play great defense against Tom Brady and the next you can't stop Alex Smith.</p>

This loss is on the defense. No ifs ands or buts.</p>

Which defense will show up next Sunday? Can anyone really say?</p>

i'd
say the offense deserves the blame too. This was a weird game for me,
one of the times I actually consider an equal blame loss while <u>still being happy overall with the way we played.</u>

It was a good game, we have to cash in in the red zone
how
can you be happy after that game yesterday? we didnt look good on
either side of the ball. we need a running game. bad.

regardless of what u think about the 49ers, the truth is they are a legit team this year.

It
was a good football game. That defense is legit - specifically against
the run. No bradshaw is going to hurt our offense. We are under
estimating what he actually does for us.

<u>Defense got worked down the stretch but its going to happen.</u> Boley down hurt us alot in covering the backs and TEs. Prince needs to step up.

We
had a battle and lost by a TD vs another top team in the league. Your
not going to win em all. Just can't let down this week and have to take
care of divisional games, especially when its vs Philly, and even though
they are most likely done any way - we can be the nail in their coffin
while grabbing a divisional game.

MUST win
its going
to happen? its been happening on a consistent basis since fewell stepped
in the door. and lets tell it like it is, 49s are a decent team in a
weak division. we should of beat them especially after they took gore
out. alex smith, are you ****ing kidding me????
grossman, whitehurst, kolb, alex smith. gee i wonder what our problems are?

Alex
Smith is still a young QB whose starting to become a decent football
player. Also keep in mind that Walker, V Davis, Crabtree, and BRaylon is
a good cast of weapons, not to mention their strength is in their line
and running game.

Their defense is a legit and top defense.
They got wins vs Cincy, Philly, and Detroit. They've only had one
divisional game this year so that weak division argument isn't really
applicable in talking about their success this year.
gore
wasnt even playing man. i dont want to hear it. cincys decent, phillys
trash, detroits ok. soo what? 49ers are a decent team that we should of
beat. end of story.

lol u can go be a brat about it
all u want but u just tried knocking SF's success because of the
division they played in even though its week 10 and they only played one
divisional game.

But the bottom line is that they really only
drove for 1 TD on us in the second half and it was because V.Davis got
free. I haven't gone back and watched it and prob won't be able to til
tom but im pretty sure it was Paysinger who completely lost him. The
loss of boley killed us on that play.

Then they scored the 2nd TD
because Eli threw that INT. Personally I thought it was a horrid play
but I caught the end of Dungy reviewing the play and he said the WR
stopped his route. I have no clue what happened but as of right now im
putting that as a horrid play by Eli

And you can knock Dixon and Hunter but they are pretty legit as well

lol
matt give me a break. the only "good" teams they beat were....the
lions. they beat seahawks, a decent bengals team, horrible philly,
cowboys(although the boys are starting to warm up), tampa, browns and
redskins. like i said giiiiive me a break.

theyre decent at best and they were without gore yesterday

that pick was on mm, he stopped running his route.

As
somebody who was saying since day one this year that Philly was
overrated, lets not under rate them either. As bad as they are they are
still a decent team. And if your still sleeping on Cincy thats fine,
but they are a pretty damn good football team.

San Fran is a good team whether you want to admit it or not.

<u>Defense had a decent day. And yes its going to happen where you have a drive and give up a TD.
</u>
Regardless
we settled for FGs, throw a pick that gave them game winning position,
couldn't tie the game down the stretch. The best squad out on the field
was our offense. Its better then their offense, their defense, and our
defense. SF is not that bad and it was on the road. I am not saying
the defense wasn't at fualt, but both sides of the ball had its flaws it
was a team loss if i've ever saw one before.
<u>
Still at the end of the day SF is a legit NFC contender and wouldn't be surprised if they made it to NFCC</u>
of
course it is, but when were playing sub par qbs i expect to demolish
them with the names on our defense. 07, 08 this game would of been a
joke. 9ers would of been lucky to put up 10. and thats what pisses me
off the most, we still have the core of that team and cant dominate,
which leads me to believe our scheme is **** and has been since last

youre on crack. seriously.

actually u said they are decent at best and that I was on crack for suggesting they were good enough to make it to the NFCC
i love how you want to give them all the credit in the world here but in another thread you say"LEts be real about it, if not for a great surprise onside kick call, that game would of been completely different. " Last week was a fluke. Im sticking to my guns. 49ers are a hot team thats over rated. Good defense and a good running game, but Alex Smith can be had.

u didn't stick to your guns though

you clearly said decent at best... which then changed to they are good but overrated.

Should we of won that game? Yes but they also played good enough and mistake free to win it.

Also I love how u ignor the fact that u suggest in no way possible were they good enough to make it to the NFCC

Alex Smith will not beat us again

regardless, I think u need to eat some crow about how good the 9ers are as a team
I never said they werent good, i said they were over rated and i stand by that.

</u>
Regardless
we settled for FGs, throw a pick that gave them game winning position,
couldn't tie the game down the stretch. The best squad out on the field
was our offense. Its better then their offense, their defense, and our
defense. SF is not that bad and it was on the road. I am not saying

Bradshaws only dropped the rock once this year compared to 9 times last year.

The REAL impressive thing about that though is that defenders are ALWAYS going for it. I always turtlehead my pants at least twice a game watching him run when somebody spears in to make the hit or comes from behind
</P>

yea, the ones from behind the runner are always the ones that make me cringe.

Btw, can someone PLEASE explain to me why that D-Grant forced fumble on Jennings wasn't ruled a fumble?? I couldnt hear the tv, but i havnte seen that kind of clear as day fumble in awhile. what gives??</P>lol even rf made a conspiracy thread. I dont know, but something isnt right. jpp was getting held ALLLLL night. thats why he kept throwing his hands up. there was a blatant holding and then tripping on benard with a ref right front of him. 2 helmet to helmets on eli. some hits i thought were late as well. after the osi helmet to helmet i could feel that big vain in the middle of my forehead throbbing. haha soooo mad.

yea, it was crippling in a way for the lions. they lost any momentum they could have kept.

to me, the best thing to do in those scenarios, is let the play unfold, and review it. unless the referee is 100% sure the runner was down on contact. they should just make it a rule or something....like:
all loose balls are live until reviewed.

I mean you figure 70%+ of those plays are challenged anyway, so you might as well just let it happen.</P>

Do you know how much MORE money the league makes when a New York team advances in the playoffs? Do you know how much more the league makes when the Giants are in the Superbowl? Its friggin huge!!!</p>

Why on earth would they "fix" a game, against their interests?</p>

Lets get real people. Its incompitence, not a conspiracy.</p>

highly doubt that fact when its a NY team vs the PACKERS. Who are actually one of the top 3 most popular teams along with the Cowboys and STeelers.

This isn't baseball. We aren't the Yankees. They would DEF make more money having a defending champion, which is one of the most popular teams in the league, with a new franchise of the NFL QB, with a team that just went 15-1. Im sorry but the Packers are more of a draw than the Giants are - if u want to just speak on financials for this season.

IT would be FOR their interests.

$75 for a min helmet with inscription and certificate of authenticity. Their prices are significantly lower than Steiner used to charge--they had to lower prices in this economy because people are just not doing it anymore. They rely on the volume of people for their profit--Over 500 people there last night. I didn't see Cruz till 10:30.

There were fans hating on Boley?</P>

I have been a boley fan since we signed him from the Falcons. </P>

Look no further then the past 2 weeks, we have faced a hall of fame tightend (Gonzalez) and a legit tightend in Finley. They were both held to just 4 receptions. You can thank Boley for that...</P>

It really drives me nuts, it is clouding the crazy good season that Canty is having and thank goodness it isnt doing the same thing to Boley

I just wish we had Goff back this season, cause I feel like the LB corp of Kiwi, Goff, and Boley would have been straight fire!!!!

Keller, Witten, Gonzo, Finley, theyve all been quieted in the past few weeks and Boley is hugely responsible for it

.... And the discount double check was great last week on the 4th down sack

ehhhh i disagree with that. Boley had his moments the past couple of years but we've had him since 09.

2009 he was injured and wasn't really right all year.

2010 he had his moments but we weren't getting the coverage of TEs like we thought we would out of him. BUT, he was able to blitz.

What Boley does for us leadership wise and in the pass game is exactly what we need. Dude still can't tackle though lol....

I agree with you, city can be a nightmare, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, but Seacucous literally smells like piss. Maybe it was just around the train station

Other than the city being a nightmare to navigate during parades, watching our boys go down the canyon of heroes with the skyscrapers all around them in 07 seemed fitting for the New York Football Giants.

sorry NY boy - he does make a good point

but from what i read the way they did it in 07 was the way to do it.

I will NEVER and i mean EVER go to the city for a parade after my experience in 07.* I didn't get their SUPER early, but I got there at like 930 and u couldn't get near the street and the cops blocked off every block and had people just walking in circles.* It was an awful time

apparently they went to the stadium for the second half of the day and had some type of ceremony there. ALOT of people I know went to that and had a great time. **** a parade, do that again so I can just go into work early, leave early, not miss a day and go party my face off in comfort of not having to dela with the city
Dude, that is exactly what I am planning on if they finish the way we all want. Go to the stadium for the celebration. We should all take off work and celebrate our team that day. **** the parade.

Yeah--I texted you last night 2x and also the night of green bay. What the hell is up with my phone. Matter of fact, I texted Justin Sunday night too.

True Story....last night on line, I said to this guy next to me that I was going to ask Victor if the chick he brought with him was the mother of his new daughter or just some hoe he was banging. This mother that was in front of me on line choked on her soda and spilled it all over the floor...I guess she overheard me. lmao.

Secaucus is an industrial area and is in the middle of swamps. Have u ever been to NYC? It LITERALLY smells like piss, because of all the bums that literally piss in the streets. Not to mention the infestation of rats and bed bugs

truth is this: anybody that makes real dough in NYC, lives in jersey

If a NY team with a halfway decent following wins the world championship in their sport they have a celebration down the 'Canyon Of Hero's'. Just ask the players, where do you think they'd rather have their SB celebration??

BTW, I got lost in Secaucus and it wasnt bad at all, it was a pretty nice neighborhood, they have a BEAUTIFUL lil park on some river with a nice view of the stadium.

Awww Jersey Boy doesnt know the city???

I was there BRIGHT n EARLY (having been to multiple Yanks parades I know the deal) we got to see the parade and even moved REAL close to city hall for the reception where Stray broke out the 'STOMP THEM OUT'

If you guys forget, they had the parade down the 'Canyon Of Hero's' AND a Rally at the stadium, they really did it perfectly..... (LOL Joe &amp; Evan are talking about right now)

i worked for a trucking company in which I was downtown almost every day for 2 years, I know the city. But if u dind't get there at 7am there was no way for u to see anything. The cops did an AWFUL job at crowd control.

I'd rather wait, not til with the city, get the same thing while having a huge celebratory tailgate and not have to worry about brown baggin...

Meadowlands celebration was an AWESOME time and we didn't have to puy 15 bucks to cross the bridge/tunnell or deal with public transportation or miss work...

parades are overrated....

everybody i talked to had an AWESOME time at the rally... im def lookin forward to that

sorry NY boy - he does make a good point

but from what i read the way they did it in 07 was the way to do it.

I will NEVER and i mean EVER go to the city for a parade after my experience in 07. I didn't get their SUPER early, but I got there at like 930 and u couldn't get near the street and the cops blocked off every block and had people just walking in circles. It was an awful time

apparently they went to the stadium for the second half of the day and had some type of ceremony there. ALOT of people I know went to that and had a great time. **** a parade, do that again so I can just go into work early, leave early, not miss a day and go party my face off in comfort of not having to dela with the city

Meadowlands celebration was an AWESOME time and we didn't have to puy 15 bucks to cross the bridge/tunnell or deal with public transportation or miss work...

parades are overrated....

everybody i talked to had an AWESOME time at the rally... im def lookin forward to that
LOL, I love to bust ya balls sen

F' brown bagging, pour whiskey in a coffee cup!!!

Going to the Meadowlands more people would have to pay the tolls or deal with public transportation that youre complaining about

Everyone I know had an AWESOME time at the parade, I guess we were talking to diff people,LOL

Parades in the Canyon Of Hero's are an amazing thing, I was too young for the NYR parade, but the Giants parade was 100x better than any Yankee parade i was ever at

A rally in the stadium parking lot is doing our area an unjustice, we live in or around the GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD, we gotta take advantage of it

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie opened this morning's "Today" show by
reigniting the long-standing border war between the Garden State and New
York over the city's two football teams that play across the Hudson.</p>

Asked
where a parade should be held if the Giants win the NFL championship
again, the combative Christie didn't hesitate to vote for New Jersey.</p>

"They play in New Jersey. They train in New Jersey," he said.</p>

When
host Matt Lauer responded with "What's it say on their helmets,"
referring to the "NY" logo, Christie said, "That's about it."</p>

The Giants have played in New Jersey since 1976, when Giants Stadium opened. MetLife Stadium replaced it in 2010.</p>

i actually think its a perfect setup. You have the people that can get off work and like dealing with the city - they can go to the parade

then u got the people that cna't get off work but still want to experience it see they just leave early stay in jersey and just pound like its a tail gate....

i'm a traditionalist so i don't care

i'm also a realist who knows that North Jersey and the City are one in the same. So it doesn't bother me

I just always find it funny when NYers try and talk down about Jersey like Jersey isn't cleaner (overall), anybody with money from the city lives in jersey, and that the stadium isn't actually in jersey.

not directing it at u (entirely lol) but its funny when NYers really try and seperate the two

u wouldn't be able to understand it unless u lived among them. You guys can't even understand the hush card we've put on them. Not taking anything away from the 49er's defense, but some fans are acting like we have no chance of getting points on the board. </P>

Ever since Michael Jordan retired — all three times, really — the NBA
has searched for the heir to his throne. Many players have popped up as
pretenders to the throne, from Harold Miner to Jerry Stackhouse to
Vince Carter. In recent years, people have stopped trying to find a
clone and just searched for a similarly dominant great player. If you
ever wondered why LeBron James is seen as such a failure, a lot of it
has to do with his inability to meet the example set by Jordan.</p>

There are many great players in the NBA these days, most of whom have
never been directly compared to Jordan. Nevertheless, His Airness says
only one player comes close enough to his greatness to merit the
comparison. Not surprisingly, that player is Kobe Bryant. Here's what
Roland Lazenby, a great writer currently working on a Jordan book, tweeted on Sunday (https://us.lrd.yahoo.com/SIG=11f557p8g/EXP=1328122365/**https%3A//twitter.com/lazenby) (via PBT (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/SIG=141oug7fq/EXP=1328122365/**http%3A//probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/17/jordan-thinks-kobe-is-the-only-one-who-deserves-comparison/)):<span id="more-13283"></span></p>

<font color="#0000FF">I never said Kobe was better than MJ. MJ just told me Kobe's the only one to have done the work, to deserve comparison.</font></p></blockquote>

Congratulations, Kobe: Your life's work has meant something. All that
time spent aping Jordan's movements and skills has paid off. He
acknowledged you. You made it.</p>

Of course, if the notoriously petty Jordan was going to mention
anyone, it makes that he'd single out Kobe, and not just because he'd
consider the mimicry flattering. Bryant really does work harder than
everyone else, and he's been good for long enough (with no signs of
slowing down) that he may eventually top Jordan's longevity. They're
similarly insane competitors.</p>

I'm willing to bet Colts change their tune and Manning stays. I'm sure he wants to stay anyway.

Here's the thing that bugs me:
If the Colts were to cut ties with Peyton for whatever their reasoning is, they are basically saying "Winning isn't our #1 priority right now. Saving money and rebuilding is."
And that's just not ok.

Same thing goes for Norv Turner not being fired from San Diego. That team is basically telling their fan base "Mediocrity is ok in our playbook"
How are these things right?!?! lol</P>

I disagree about Peyton. Colts stance is clear. If he is healthy to play they will keep him, if not they won't. IF hes not going to be able to play and play at his level, then you can't have a player on your team for 2 years, pay him over 50mil and not get production out of him

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Wednesday that Peyton Manning "will not push back" his $28 million roster bonus and will either stay with the Colts or be released by the Colts.</P></DIV>
<DIV class=impact>Per Schefter, the sides are dug in. Owner Jim Irsay isn't going to trade Manning, and Manning won't restructure his contract to allow the Colts to get something in return. The $28 million bonus is due on March 8. Irsay is staunch in his commitment to pay Manning if he's healthy, but he's going to have to receive medical clearance from neck surgery in order to see the money. </DIV>

</P>

It isn't about saving money. Its about being able to field a decent team. There a thing called the salary cap. If they keep Peyton and draft Luck, there will be a minimum of $55MM dedicated to one position. Peyton has a $28MM bonus due that he said he will NOT push back. Thats NOT including his salary. The #1 slot gives a minimum of $15MM. (minimum, probably more this season) We saw all the holes on that team this past season. They will not only lose all or most of their FA's, but they will be unable to sign anyone else to built their team.</P>

They simply have to let Peyton go, or trade out of the #1 position.</P>

It aint about "saving money".</P>

welll in an indirect way it is. Its about having cap space to field the best team as possible. I understand

IF Peyton can't go this yera, the Colts have to move on

ok i can agree with that...HOWEVER!!!!
Peyton Manning at 65% is better than any other available option right now. Even Andrew Luck.</P>

The colts should offer him a qb coach or related position, draft Luck and let Peyton groom him for the team. That would be the wisest thing for colts to do.

Adjust or not adjust his salary however, you they want based on that. At this point in the game, it's not about money for Peyton.

offer him a coaching gig? no effin way dude. it's peyton manning. not only WILL he play, but anyone in the league would kill for him. AND he'll make you pay for it by letting him go.
This isnt a 42 year old Brett Favre we're talking about.
Anything less than making sure Peyton is healthy enough to go, is BLATANT DISRESPECT for the guy who MADE your franchise relevant for the first time since Unitas and the baltimore Colts.</P>

This season showed his immense value to the Colt's team. He is clearly the mvp of that team. It simply does not function without him.

Maybe he plays another couple of seasons for the colts, but it seems the Colts would just be delaying the inevitable by not putting something in place for his departure.

Apparently the 49ers fans rival Eagles fans.

"Are you kidding me? He's Eli Manning," defensive lineman Dave Tollefson (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/9839/dave-tollefson)
said Wednesday. "They probably have some kind of special virus-killing
