The Pittsburgh Pirates (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/pit/pittsburgh-pirates) and New York Yankees (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/nyy/new-york-yankees) are on the verge of completing a trade that would send right-hander A.J. Burnett (http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/4153/aj-burnett) to Pittsburgh and are expecting to take the proposal to the commissioner's office Friday for approval, sources said.</P>

The Pirates are expected to send a pair of prospects to the Yankees, sources said. </P>

The approval is needed because of the money involved, <U>as<FONT color=#0000ff> the Yankees will eat about $20 million of the $33 million</FONT> still owed Burnett for the last two seasons of his contract, sources said.</U></P>

As a Yankee the past three seasons, Burnett is 34-35 with a 4.79 ERA. He is 121-111 with a 4.10 ERA in 13 seasons with the Yankees, Blue Jays (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/tor/toronto-blue-jays) and Marlins (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/mia/miami-marlins). </P>

As soon as the Burnett deal is done, the Yankees will begin the aggressive pursuit of a veteran designated hitter, sources said. </P>

Sources said that there is a good deal of sentiment within the Yankees organization to go after Raul Ibanez (http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/3504/raul-ibanez) -- who wants to play for the team -- to be their designated hitter against right-handers, partly because they believe he can give them some days of outfield play. </P>

Although Johnny Damon (http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/3323/johnny-damon) and Hideki Matsui (http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/5372/hideki-matsui) are also available, they are generally regarded as unplayable defensively, sources said.</P>

But you say the Yankees will have 84 wins, what are your prediction for the Red Sox? </P>

Bear in mind, they gave up with a manager who gave your franchise 2 world series titles. But now they will give full effort all season to Bobby Valentine? </P>

You want to be a Yankee fan so bad.
Your team hasn't even made it to the playoffs since 09......09 where you were swept by the Angels in the first round, if you recall? The was the year the Yankees won the World Series, if you needed a reminder.
Been a rough couple years in beantown, huh?
This is the Yankees Millenium....be lucky your team even gets to play in it.</P>

call me crazy, but u can't call it a sell out if you still have tickets to sell

&lt;--- crazy guy
Yes, you ARE the crazy guy, you think that 100% of tickets sold isnt a sellout

because 100% of the tickets actually weren't sold

its a fictitious number they are basing it off of..

there can only be one max capacity

how is selling 19,000 tickets one night a sellout and then 18,000 tickets another night a sellout too in the same stadium???
BS!!!!

You're acting like you're the one to create these numbers

Max Capacity = 100%
Over Capacity = 101% and up

explain to me how your sold out if u still have another 1000 tickets u can sell?
I dont know, ask the guy who created the stats

Explain to me how 100% attendance ISNT selling out??? Cause if they had 1000 extra tickets to sell that wouldnt be a 100% sell out

because its based off of a number which is suppose to be max capacity, but obviously isn't...

hence NOT sold out because at any given night those tickets COULD be sold

you can't have a 10% range of being sold out. Its either sold out or it isn't....

theres no degrees of being sold out.
It obviously would be based off of the max capacity, just cause it doesnt match your stance doesnt mean its not correct numbers or whatever you're arguing

Sold out = more than 99.9%

I dont understand how you're not seeing this

no, selling out means that you sell every seat in the house

which obviously hasn't been done in these cases
Selling out means selling 100% of the tickets or being at 100% capacity

Which has been done in 12 NHL cities and 6 NBA cities according to last years #'s

so are u saying that the capicty changes from night to night?
NOPE, thats what you're saying

no thats what the NUMBERS are saying...

the capacity is the capacity... the capacity listed isn't obviously the true compacity or they wouldn't be able to go over 100%

The approval is needed because of the money involved, <u>as<font color="#0000ff"> the Yankees will eat about $20 million of the $33 million</font> still owed Burnett for the last two seasons of his contract, sources said.</u></p>

NOPE, thats what you're saying

no thats what the NUMBERS are saying...

the capacity is the capacity... the capacity listed isn't obviously the true compacity or they wouldn't be able to go over 100%
I dont know they get over 100% but they do, maybe standing room and that kind of stuff, next time I see Commissioner Bettman ill ask him, LOL

actually my theory was based on the deep balls the Pats were trying against the Ravens, cuz they took alot of shots, in whichi Ocho was at his fathers funeral so he didn't play.

Coupled with the fact that Gronk was hurt - figured they would try to spread the field.

lol its just me

basically what the debtae has come down to is about sellouts...

if u go to espn's attendance records Kase is looking at the percentage of "SELLOUTS" and trying to use it as his arguments

I am pointing out that they aren't actually sellouts. You can't oversell seats. Whatever the max is, the max is. If on a given night they are considered to have 101% sellout and they still have seats to be sold - its actually not a SELL OUT

well dezz, I would agree that the coverage of it is a bit annoying, however I think it's awesome that a no name kid brings a team from the bottom if the league to a 7 game winning streak, without the team's 2 perennial all-stars.

i agree, but when the next 8 topics are about lin on espn, its a bit much.
</P>

well dezz, I would agree that the coverage of it is a bit annoying, however I think it's awesome that a no name kid brings a team from the bottom if the league to a 7 game winning streak, without the team's 2 perennial all-stars.
Some people just need a shot to shine...so i like it. luckily i dont watch alot of tv, so i dont get as exposed to it.</P>It is nice to see Lin get credit and all, but I am getting tired of seeing and hearing about it non-stop. Then again, I'm biased and not a b-ball fan. I was not complaining about all the Cruz attention, that drove so many non-football fans nuts.

The prices are starting to drop on sb46 stuff. Give it another 2 months and it will be fair market value. Giantsshop.com is where I noticed the largest price drops. $5-6 dollar decrease pretty much universally. Nfl.com is holding their high prices.

If any of you guys are interested, I'll let you use my season ticket promo code for 10% off $100 order and 20% off $100 orders. Expires 3/1/2012

Yes-Osi is all about ME. Brandon has restructured his salary for the team, I doubt we hear about Osi doing that. One thing about Osi, 9 sacks, 2 forced fumbles in 9 games, only starting 7 of them. That boy knows how to get to the QB. JPP has already said he wants NYG to pay Osi because he know's Osi is to credit for some of Jpp's sacks.

basically what the debtae has come down to is about sellouts...

if u go to espn's attendance records Kase is looking at the percentage of "SELLOUTS" and trying to use it as his arguments

I am pointing out that they aren't actually sellouts. You can't oversell seats. Whatever the max is, the max is. If on a given night they are considered to have 101% sellout and they still have seats to be sold - its actually not a SELL OUT
OMG you're REALLY still hooked on this debate?!?!?!?!?!

Sellout= 99.999% of seats are occupied/sold

My buddy gets hung up on sellouts at NYG games. He's always saying this game is SOLD OUT, you can't get tickets if you wanted to. I can pretty much get tickets to any game I want to if I am willing to spend the $. So what does Sold out truly mean?

NYG Games are always sold out, that doesn't mean you can't still buy tickets from other people that aren't going.

Sold Out has nothing to do with butts in seats...it has to do with tickets sold...if the seat is paid for it doesn't matter if the person goes or not it's considered sold.

those girl's totters real or fake??Totally Real!!!! I will make a wager on that as well.naaah those are fake. they were probably big before surgery, hence some sagging(which looks great) hate when they look too perky and they look like ice cream scoops.
Alright, I'll give you minimal ice cream scoops for the bust, but I want the *** to look like two scoops of frozen ice cream that I can bounce quarters off.

i haven't watched this much basketball since Jordan

Knicks are a serious team this year

Its amazing that how good he seems to be and how much hes acheived, that he is SOOO bad wtih his left hand...

basically what the debtae has come down to is about sellouts...

if u go to espn's attendance records Kase is looking at the percentage of "SELLOUTS" and trying to use it as his arguments

Sellout= 99.999% of seats are occupied/sold

stop playing a stupid percentage game off of a number that u have no clue about...

your hanging onto a false number... if the stadium has back to back games and sold 20,000 one night and that was considered a 100% sellout, then the following night they sell 21,000 tickets and thats considered 105% sellout, then the reality is that they really didn't sell 100% of the seats the first night... they sitll had 1000 tickets they could of sold

Im torn in the 1st few rounds, I feel like Eli doesnt need a crazy TE like Allen or Fleener cause he makes decent guys like Boss and Ballard look damned good, then again Eli with a nasty Graham-type TE would be insane

I would really like for us to look at a OT or CB in the 1st, if we have a nasty RT to step in and help out immediatley then our run game can be brought back to prominence. Then again we dont know what we're gonna have in T2 if he comes back so maybe drafting a CB like Jenkins or Kirkpatrick who is destine to drop in the draft would be a nice idea

How bout OLine? Can Boothe play RT? Are we going to go with Petrus? Tackle is a positon we could look at.

Theres a good chance we lose Phillips next year becuase of the cap hell we're in, do we get a saftey now if we have value?

Well I havent even begun to look or even think of DE's but we know JR and he could very well draft a DE in the 1st as insurance

With the OL and Boothe, I really like him at OG or C, then again I really like Petrus on the inside as well. As long as Snee can pick his game up next season then Petrus will have to keep warm on the sidelines cause Boothe showed that he should be starting and I feel like we have to keep Baas starting cause of what we payed for his dumbass

In respect to LB, I think we're ok there as long as we sign Goff. We have some nice depth with Chase, JQ Williams, Herzlich, Greg Jones, IMO this year we should pass on an LB..... Unless its that dude Vontaze Burfict from Arizona St, that guy plays like a serial murderer on the field, and I heard he's a ghost off the field, no problems or nothing... Just a nut case on the field, LOL

Im still not sold on TE, but if we got Allen or Fleener I wouldnt be devistated

I think Ross will be gone, and we'll sign T2... Then again thats my hopeful thinking, and I feel like with the league is heading, CBs are the new pass rushers, its never bad to have too many good ones

Yo you're the one that keeps bringing it up i left it alone TWICE and you brought it back into play

The reality of it would be that the 1st night they were at capacity and the 2nd night was at over-capacity. 100% is still 100% and you fail to realize that

i didn't bring it up, Pappy said he didn't know what it was about so i told him what it was, then u just quoted and responded like I was talking to u.

Anything!!!!!</p>So who/what position do you guys want us to target in the draft this year??

We have so many different ways we can go...

if we don't get something done with Osi, do we trade him and maybe look at a DE if he falls?

How bout OLine? Can Boothe play RT? Are we going to go with Petrus? Tackle is a positon we could look at.

Theres a good chance we lose Phillips next year becuase of the cap hell we're in, do we get a saftey now if we have value?

LBer is always in the mix.

How bout a TE?

CB is a def possibility with Ross and T2 up in the air. I'd be surprised if we were able to retain either of them

its so impossible to determine right now.

Im still not sold on TE, but if we got Allen or Fleener I wouldnt be devistated

I think Ross will be gone, and we'll sign T2... Then again thats my hopeful thinking, and I feel like with the league is heading, CBs are the new pass rushers, its never bad to have too many good ones

we're in bad cap hell though... its going to be hard to really sign/resign anybody..

I think T2 is going to price himself out of what the Giants will offer

I know he was looking for 4-5 mil a year...

I can't see us willing or even capable of doing it...

lol its just me

basically what the debtae has come down to is about sellouts...

if u go to espn's attendance records Kase is looking at the percentage of "SELLOUTS" and trying to use it as his arguments

I am pointing out that they aren't actually sellouts. You can't oversell seats. Whatever the max is, the max is. If on a given night they are considered to have 101% sellout and they still have seats to be sold - its actually not a SELL OUT
OMG you're REALLY still hooked on this debate?!?!?!?!?!

Sellout= 99.999% of seats are occupied/sold

stop playing a stupid percentage game off of a number that u have no clue about...

your hanging onto a false number... if the stadium has back to back games and sold 20,000 one night and that was considered a 100% sellout, then the following night they sell 21,000 tickets and thats considered 105% sellout, then the reality is that they really didn't sell 100% of the seats the first night... they sitll had 1000 tickets they could of sold

You need to realize that 100% means a sellout.

That is a general statement. It may mean a sellout in terms of the NHL or NBA. They must have a set number of seats sold to classify a "sellout" as far as the books go but if there are seats that you can buy it's not a sellout. Technically as far as book keeping and records go maybe but as far as tickets available it's not a sellout. A sellout is when you can't buy any tickets to the event.

It all depends on how you interpret it. Technically you are both right I guess. lol

He has the size to play on the outside, I dont know if he's got that lateral quickness and agility to play the outside

Really, I feel like T2 isnt gonna get big offers from teams. He's coming off another injury and this is a good year for drafting CBs

Safetys are terrible in this class, the best one (Mike Barron from Bama) would have been a borderline 2nd-3rd round in a decent draft class

I hate this strict salary cap, one day we're 7mil over, the next we're 1.5mil under, then we're 9mil over.... I have no idea whats going on, LOL

I can see us either resigning KM at a much lower rate, or signing a vet RT. Boothe seems like a terrible choice to play RT. I can see us drafting another O lineman very early though but it depends on how the draft shakes out.</P>

We don't have a lot of glairing needs on this team so we can definately build through the draft without reaching for players.</P>

Perfect example here...

For the first time in several years, the Dallas Mavericks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=dal)
didn't sell out their home opener in advance. There were 600 tickets
still available Tuesday morning. But the American Airlines Center was
packed that night, extending the NBA's longest active sellout streak to
318 games.

There were still tickets available to buy but it's still considered a sellout. I don't get it?

Technically it's not a sellout but it is a sellout? lol

Then again thats my hopeful thinking, and I feel like with the league is heading, CBs are the new pass rushers, its never bad to have too many good ones

we're in bad cap hell though... its going to be hard to really sign/resign anybody..

I think T2 is going to price himself out of what the Giants will offer

I know he was looking for 4-5 mil a year...

I can't see us willing or even capable of doing it...

Plus honestly KP is a FA next year....

We're just going to be worse off next year (unless we decide to not lock up Nicks or Cruz)
jacobs, rolle and canty need to take a pay cut. elis making 20 million this year....
ALOT of guys need to take a pay cut.... Maybe even Eli could re-restructure his monstorous contract

Technically it's not a sellout but it is a sellout? lol

So who/what position do you guys want us to target in the draft this year??

Webby and Jacobs for sure. I thought BJ would be gone but now I think we could keep him with a pay cut. He goes with Bradshaw. They really are better with the other guy on the team. But drafting a RB in the first 3 rounds is a definate possibility.</P>

I'd like to see OL or some kind of playmaking LB. Give me some speed on defense.</p>

what do u guys think of moving boothe to RT so Petrus could play LG

I mean hes big enough
I dont think Boothe can handle the speed rushers he's gonna face on the outside. He seems to play well inside, I dont know how he'd do on his own on an island with some of the nasty outside rushers we face in the NFC East. He has the size to play on the outside, I dont know if he's got that lateral quickness and agility to play the outside

so then it would be just like having McKenzie except alot cheaper lol

I can see us either resigning KM at a much lower rate, or signing a vet RT. Boothe seems like a terrible choice to play RT. I can see us drafting another O lineman very early though but it depends on how the draft shakes out.</p>

Well Suge Knight WAS a damned good run blocker, but this season he fell off DRASTICALLY and honestly the youth is the way of the future. I want an OL that will be together for years upon years, not interchangable guys each season, we need continuity

Booth is only 28 though

And if there is a value at tackle i would love that as well - but I dunno..

So who/what position do you guys want us to target in the draft this year??

Then again thats my hopeful thinking, and I feel like with the league is heading, CBs are the new pass rushers, its never bad to have too many good ones

we're in bad cap hell though... its going to be hard to really sign/resign anybody..

</p>

Webby and Jacobs for sure. I thought BJ would be gone but now I think we could keep him with a pay cut. He goes with Bradshaw. They really are better with the other guy on the team. But drafting a RB in the first 3 rounds is a definate possibility.</p>Corey is one of the best players on the team. he earned his 5 million this year and he will earn his 6 million next year. Without a doubt the most under rated corner in the league.

Monday night he unleashed it on the Knicks (http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/21/jeremy-lin-who-deron-williams-dominates-knicks-in-net-wins/),
scoring 38 points and knocking down 8 threes. Lin had good numbers, but
the Nets held his drives in check (and with it the Knicks offense) and
New Jersey got the win.

Williams enjoyed that a lot, as he told the New York Daily News (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/starting-linsanity-nets-deron-williams-quells-jeremy-lin-quiets-madison-square-garden-big-game-article-1.1025979?localLinksEnabled=false).</p>
<blockquote>

“So when somebody says they destroyed you, and you watch
the tape and you don’t feel like you got destroyed, you circle those
types of games,” Williams said….</p>

“I don’t really watch SportsCenter, I don’t really watch too many
games, but I do see Twitter. And every three lines was, ‘Jeremy Lin
destroys Deron Williams’ in the first game. And like I said, I had it
circled.”</p></blockquote>

The plan going in was to have Williams attack Lin.</p>
<blockquote>

“We told him, even this morning: ‘If you’ve got some
looks at threes, just take ’em. We know you can make them, but just be
aggressive,” (Nets coach) Avery Johnson said. “And if their point
guard’s not on you, we’ll try to figure a way to get him back on you so
you can attack.”</p></blockquote>

Despite living and working an Atlantic Ocean away from England's
capital, Thierry Henry is planning to demolish his $9.5M London mansion
in order to build... a slightly different mansion. A significant
difference will be a 40-foot fish tank, which will be visible on every
floor of the property. The Daily Mail (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2103311/Thierry-Henry-fish-tank-Arsenal-striker-plans-rebuild-6m-home.html) reports:</p>
<blockquote>

Stretching 40ft from the bottom of his house to the very
top, it will take 5,500 gallons of water to fill, house 300 fish and
cost a staggering £250,000 [$400,000] to build. His proposals detail the
extravagant four-storey aquarium.</p>

As well as the vast cost of construction, the 15ft long by 3ft wide
tank will set Henry back £12,000 [$19,000] a year to run, including
weekly inspections at about £50 [$80] an hour. The annual bill for fish
food alone would be £2,500 [$4,000].</p></blockquote>

He was suppose to come out the first year to thee game, but said last minute that he lost his passport but was going to try anyway. Then he got stopped by border patrol on the train in or something and had to go back cuz he didn't have his passport. He said he had a hotel, but we called and there was no room in his name and he was coming alone.

Then he kept putting blondie off this year and told her that he had sent the money already 2 times, then recanted and is now on a full blown ignor fest

thats all I need to cut someone off. Thank god the people that won were cool, i almost had to pay for that guy and that would of realllllly pissed me off. Nothing worse than a welcher

How could anybody think even for arguments sake that trading our first rounder for Mike Wallace would be better than just signing Vincent Jackson is beyond me
I would LOVE either one of them, expect we dont have the money. If this was an uncapped year in MADDEN maybe a different story, but cmon lets get real about this. We dont even have the cap space for Super Mario or DJax

All I was saying was that he's past his prime when it comes to playing LT or LG, hell pretty much his only shot at starting on our OL this upcoming season would be at RT.

Whenever Diehl plays LT, he's consistently at the bottom of the barrel in terms of QB Hits allowed, Hurries Allowed, Sacks Allowed and even without the stats just watch the games with him at LT, we run away from the left side and hope that Eli can move his feet around the pocket to make up for Diehl's misses.

Diehl had an AMAZING career with us and should have his name in the Ring Of Honor when he retires but that shouldnt cloud the fact that he's a bad LT

Well good thing we dont have to worry about either happening.

There's no way Pittsburgh lets Mike Wallace walk, just aint happening....

VJax has been trying to leave San Diggy for a minute and if they dont franchise him then he's as good as gone. He's a damned good WR and Im sure there'll be teams that dump the farm to get a chance at VJ, NYG's aint one of those teams

well hes RFA and they are in cap trouble - technically he could go...

especially since they are trying to change around the offense to be more run oriented as well.

It was just an awful thread that turned into a debate. Slip said he'd rather trade the first rounder and give a huge deal to Wallace instead of just signing VJack for the huge deal. It baffled me.

His argument is that Wallace fits our offense perfectly. Truth is, what WR that is half way decent WOULDNT fit our offense?

I wont front, I was leading the Beatty Bandwagon going into the draft and I stand my ground, he is the LT of our future

Our OL was better in the run game when Boothe stepped in at Center not Diehl replacing Beatty. Diehl is one of the worst starting LTs in the NFL, its not like its just me who feels this way, you love 'hard numbers' Matt check the numbers on Diehl, they SUCK

Beatty aint going no where, detached retina is something he'll return from without missing a beat(ty) its not like a torn ACL or somehting like tthat.

OK so now if you win a superbowl you're considered a GREAT player!?!?! Tell that to Trent Dilfer, cause he was a MINDBLOWING QB, LOL

We had to run away from the left side when he was in, and Eli was getting mauled from his blindside. Diehl lets up a TON of pressure on Eli when he's at LT but since he was on the OL when we won 2 SB's he's a good player??

...Says the guy who thinks Diehl is a halfway decent option as a starting LT

true - it isn't like we won a superbowl or two with him there or anything like that. it isn't like our offense got MUCH better when he moved to LT...
OK so now if you win a superbowl you're considered a GREAT player!?!?! Tell that to Trent Dilfer, cause he was a MINDBLOWING QB, LOL

We had to run away from the left side when he was in, and Eli was getting mauled from his blindside. Diehl lets up a TON of pressure on Eli when he's at LT but since he was on the OL when we won 2 SB's he's a good player??

this diehl hate is so ridiculous. I would have to say if u didn't have such a hardon about Beatty, that you wouldn't be this fierce about how "bad" Diehl

Its drastically overexaggerated and your inconsistent with your arguments. Alot of play by Beatty you praised but have actually killed Diehl for better play. TRuth of the matter is that you can't rely on Beatty either. the guys finished two of his first 3 years on IR

Diehl is a great team player, and I want him to retire here, but we have better LT options on our team, and his name is Will Beatty

i'm sorry but Diehl and Beatty are pretty equal in pass protection

They are not very equal in run blocking or staying healthy.

so did we ever solve the selling out argument?

yea we all agreed u sold out of the "Straight life" and are officially gay wtih that face tattoo

do u have the penis tattoo on the otherside of your face or as a tramp stamp?

you should have seen the girl who painted it on my face, you wouldn't be saying what you are if you did :)

she was trying for a "heart" on the other side but I recognized it and put a stop to that.

Why do they call it signing bonus'? Why dont they say youll get 10 million for next year, instead of 7 million and a 3 million signing bonus?

I dont know where you're getting your info from but its quite skewed.

Diehl played like crap for the simple fact that he let up a ton of sacks, pressures, and hurries, significantly more than anyone else on the line.

Youre acting like I despise him, I dont. I just think that at this point in Diehls career his only chance to start is gonna be at RT or coming off the bench

Its not like Beatty played 2 games this season then went on IR, he started 10 and the year before he started 8 games

2010 was a freak accident, a detached retina could happen to anyone, the dude got poked in the eye Captain Insane-O style

I know you and MH have raging hardons for Diehl but you 2 are totally blind to the fact that while Diehl DID get 2 rings as an LT we have a better LT option on our bench.

And even if we did stick Diehl at LT, we're just gonna chalk up Beatty and his 2nd round spot we drafted him at as moot??? Cmon guys

OK now you're just pulling stuff out of your wahzoo

Beatty is leaps and bounds better at pass protection
Diehl is better at run blocking

Diehl has also been in the league 9 years and still cant step up his pass protection, Beatty has gotten better and better with his run blocking each season that he started
