Diehl is a great team player, and I want him to retire here, but we have better LT options on our team, and his name is Will Beatty
i like beatty but im not sure hes ready yet. plus i see beatty replacing kmac before diehl.
Beatty has the agility and speed of a prototypical LT, but doesnt have the mauling ability or strength to be that prototye RT. Then again with the infulx of speed rushers who knows what the trend will be in a few seasons

RT's are usually mauling beastly masters of the run blocking game whos strength and gusto make up for lack of athletic ability

LT's are usually agile, more-athletic, pass protection specialists with great footwork

i'm sorry but Diehl and Beatty are pretty equal in pass protection

They are not very equal in run blocking or staying healthy.
OK now you're just pulling stuff out of your wahzoo

Beatty is leaps and bounds better at pass protection
Diehl is better at run blocking

Diehl has also been in the league 9 years and still cant step up his pass protection, Beatty has gotten better and better with his run blocking each season that he started

soooooo a few games here and there?? lol....you make it sound like they guy has played a ton of football for us, and that he has started alot. apparently he has started 16 games for us. the first 2 years only as a necessity.
I'm not knocking on the guy. I think he did play well, but it's a relatively small sample size: 16 out of 48 games.

fixed it for u

he played unbalanced. Decent against pass rush and brutal vs the run

I'll wait too becuase Diehl will not only be back this year but will start at LT. If they do try something and hes not starting at tackle to start, he will by seasons end will not be a giant the following year unless he signs the minimum to be a backup.

You can sig that if u want too

Diehl has allowed 22 sacks in 3 seasons himself
Beatty allowed 5 sacks in 3 seasons

When it comes to numbers thats about all you'll get from the OL

http://stats.profootballweekly.com/team/giants/roster/

David Diehl finished dead last in the league with a pass blocking
efficiency rating of 90.4. The pass blocking efficiency rating takes
into account sacks, quarterback hits allowed, quarterback hurries
allowed divided by the number of pass blocking snaps. The soon to be
free agent, Kareem McKenzie, came in only 12 slots better in overall
ranking with a 92.7 efficiency ratio. Finally, Will Beatty, in his
first year as starting LT, came in 50th out of 75 with a 93.6 rating. - http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/02/20/2011-pass-blocking-efficiency-offensive-tackles/

But I know that Matt wont take those stats seriously he hates PFF

...But as you guys all know Im just making this all up out of thin air

why don't you average out games played at tackle vs games played period

And i'm sorry, but two years ago when he got to come in as the unbalanced tight end doesn't really count in this debate. If your trying to make the stats argument thats fine... but ur not going to include games where he got in on plays... Average out sacks given up at the tackle position vs passing snaps at the tackle position....

whats with u and the general weak statistical arguments lately

"The Giants’ lineman gave up five sacks, two hits, and 28 hurries on the 280 occasions he lined up to pass protect at guard"
thats very good, imo. It means hes only getting beat a little over 10% of the time.

If your trying to make the stats argument thats fine... but ur not going to include games where he got in on plays... Average out sacks given up at the tackle position vs passing snaps at the tackle position....

whats with u and the general weak statistical arguments lately
Weak arguments cause they go against what you believe in?!?!?!

PLEASE, Diehl is consistently rated THEE worst OT in the NFL as well as THEE worst OG in the NFL this past season and you guys still think he's great!?!?!?!

Well cause I have no way of telling how many games he played OT and how many times he came in as en extra blocking TE, do you???

- http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/02/20/2011-pass-blocking-efficiency-offensive-tackles/

well pretty much ALL of the 2010 season. I think he played like 2 games at the actual TACKLE position.

He had a PUTRID year at the Guard position and if we were talking about the guard positio i'd agree with you, but we're not

it was all over the TAGF preseason

I looked for it but couldn't find it again...

I am just disputing your facts. Mentioning games played has no real bearing on judging what you want to be judged.

go do the math of games started at tackle, or even plays played on protection..

The fact that you would give Beatty credit for that many games obviously jades those stats.

There are no real stats for things like this. Thats why PFF is so successful, because they try and i commend them for that. I actually appreciate their effort and what they accomplish, but they are dramatically off on alot of what they say.

best fake fight of all time.
classic match! Ranks up there with Macho Man Savage vs Ricky the Dragon Steamboat! I remember reading in Mick Foley's first book, that the Undertaker was a little apprehensive with throwing Foley off the cage.

And Matt, if I remember correctly, LT got a cool mil just for taht 1 match as well! Yeah I did not think that the McMahon would have LT lose and make it a long running rivalry back and forth type of thing.

I still like Bam Bam. My wife met him, well not face to face, in the recovery room at Jersey Shore medical center in Neptune City. She was getting her gall bladder out and he got some sort of arm/elbow surgery. She got me an autographed picture of him.

My step-father also met him numerous times. Bam Bam was a student in high school, when my step-father used to drive a bus when he was younger. He said "Scotty" was a bad *** then. He wrestled in high school, but he still has his hair and no flame tats on the skull yet---LOL!! From what he has told me, Bam Bam would kick the **** out of the punks at the high school when he saw them bullying others.

The bushwackers were comic relief. They had a few title shots, but were there more to make the fans laugh.

The Powers of Pain were another bad *** tag team---they did not stay together as long.

yeah kase, they were bad *** in the day! I rank them in the top 5 of all time. I liked the Road Warriors/Legion of Doom, the British Bulldogs, Hart Foundation, Dudley's, and the Hardy's.How badass is it that James Lauranitis' dad was 1 of the members of the LOD

No mention of the Bushwackers, Money Inc., The Natural Disasters, Nasty Boyz, or Harlem Heat?!?!?

Thats so F'n cool!!!!

Oh and later on, my step-dad's brother used to have a auto parts shop in Asbury Park/Neptune area. Bam Bam used to come in there and get parts for his vehicle. They would say that he was a good guy and was no different than any of us, except for being a 350 lb beast with the flame tats on his head---LOL!!!

yea he really is lol.
HBK was always one of my favorite wrestlers though. He was awesome

When i was in high school I liked the Hardy Boys. I remember watching Wrestlemania 16 in 2000, and there was a TLC match....Hardy Boys vsDudley Boys vs.Edge&Christian.
It was the most badass, hardcore fight ever. lol
The best was Jeff Hardy jumping off a ladder taller than most i have seen...something a human has no business standing on...and doing his swanton bomb flip thing onto a table...COMPLETELY missing it basically, and landing right on his tailbone. It made most people cringe watching it.

Personally I think Goff will come back and pick up like he never missed a beat, he's not really an injury prone guy and in 2010 he was def starting to come into his own as our on field DC and arguably the best run stopper on the team, hell even his coverage was picking up

I wouldnt mind us staying put with LBs, keeping our base starters as Kiwi, Goff, and Boley and our nickel guys as JQ and Boley. Even with G. Jones, Herzlich, Blackburn, and JQ as depth we're not looking too shabby

I do like how Vontaze Burfict seems to be dropping in everyone's pre-combine rankings, maybe we can get him in the 2nd (if we're lucky)

not sure we resign Goff

I would think we keep Blackburn over him. JWill kind of earned alot of playing time. i think we're actually going to stay pat with LBers unless we have a value in the draft.

I think Burfict could drop into the 2nd rd. Now will he be there at 64 for us to snag? I just worry about his over aggressiveness, when it comes to the personal fouls etc.

I like Goff, and since I have been down here in Tennessee, I have rooted for Vandy, since most people down here root for UT. Goff was a very good LB for the Commodores. So I hope to see him come back healthy and productive again.

Now I know it may not happen, but I would love to see the kid from BC, Keuchly, drop to 32 for us. I would be ok with Boley at the Will, Keuchly at the mike, and lets give Goff a shot at the Sam. We then can move Kiwi up to DE. And yes, who knows what happens between now and the draft with Osi.

I would like to see Blackburn re-signed for depth, Jones, Herzlich, and DeOssie(I know ST and long snapper mostly) as depth.

If Keuchly is gone before we draft, then maybe we look for a diamond in the rough in the later rounds.

edit---oops forgot Williams when I was speaking of depth---he might be our future Will backer.

Personally I would be ok with standing pat at LB. I say lets strengthen our DBs and keep our pass rush fierce!

Maybe Goff gets a reasonable 1 yr deal like Kiwi got last year, to show how he has recovered from the ACL injury.

For some home games the Jaguars are blacked out on local television in
Jacksonville because they haven’t sold out their stadium, and other
times the blackout is lifted because the game is designated a sellout.
But even those “sellouts” are played in a stadium that’s far from full.

I can see us giving him at least a 1 year deal, its not like Goff has a history of leg injuries.

I can see us keeping Chase in addition to Goff, Chase is a great STer and a blessing to have as depth for us. That being said I would rather us look in another direction for the future

I see JQ as a great depth/nickel LB/Joker LB at this point in time. Then again for a rookie he played AMAZINGLY and will probably see the field a TON, just not as a 'starter'

NO, we are talking about what a "SELLOUT" is.

If you sell a designated amount of tickets it's considered a sellout. If you can't buy a seat in the building that is a true sellout. Can we agree on that?

Now that's a bar tab.

Mel stays dry

Mel Gibson, Formula One heir Petra Ecclestone and her new husband, James Stunt, sparked a champagne frenzy at Beacher’s Madhouse in LA last Wednesday night, spending a whopping $250,000 on Cristal -- with Stunt picking up the tab. They went wild even though neither Gibson nor Stunt drinks alcohol. A spy said, “Neither of them touched a drop, they were handing it out to everyone else.” Gibson, whose battle with booze is well-documented, arrived with Ecclestone and her hubby in their Rolls-Royce and was “pretty relaxed and chilled.” The star ignored women around him before the threesome left near 2 a.m.

It's going to be a great game. I really hope the Knicks win and Bosh scores 57 points.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera revealed at the Combine Thursday that free agent Jeremy Shockey spoke of retirement after the season.

It's common for players over 30 to consider calling

"With him, you never know," Rivera said. Shockey has not played a full
16-game season in his 11-year career. In 2011, the 31-year-old caught
37 passes for 455 yards and four touchdowns.

I'm not sure I get this whole sellout conversation still....what are you arguing about.

it's REALLY simple as far as I can tell, if all the tickets are sold...it's a sell out period...whether people sit in the seats or not is completely irrelevant.

Kase is arguing that even if all the seats aren't sold it's still a sellout. Arenas and stadiums have a set number of tickets sold to designate a sellout but it's not really a sellout. When you can't buy seats that is a sellout.

If you can get to 105% or 106% and you're only at 100% it's not a sellout. According to the number of seats to qualify for a sellout then yes but if there are seats to purchase it's not a true sellout.

Now answer my question, yes or no?

New York Giants (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/nyg/new-york-giants)

http://a.espncdn.com/i/teamlogos/nfl/med/nyg.gif
Biggest need: Offensive
line. The champs patched it together in January with a line that wasn't
very good in the first half of the season but played big when it needed
to. But Kareem McKenzie (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/2627/kareem-mckenzie) looks set to leave as a free agent, David Diehl (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/4618/david-diehl)
won't play forever and the Giants need to be thinking about what their
offensive line will look like in the future. They haven't taken an
offensive lineman in the first round since Luke Petitgout (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/1770/luke-petitgout)
in 1999, but at No. 32, their pick is barely in the first round, and
they'll take the best player available, as they always do. Don't be
surprised if that player is a tight end such as Clemson's Dwayne Allen (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/28958/dwayne-allen). The Giants did lose two tight ends to knee injuries in the Super Bowl. Oh, and if they lose both Aaron Ross (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/10464/aaron-ross) and Terrell Thomas (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11297/terrell-thomas) in free agency, they may need a cornerback.

Interview targets: Allen and Stanford's Coby Fleener (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/28327/coby-fleener) at tight end. Mike Adams (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/28759/mike-adams) and Bobby Massie (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/29005/bobby-massie) at tackle. I also wouldn't be surprised to see them look at a versatile rush linebacker like Marshall's Vinny Curry (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/27949/vinny-curry). I always think the Giants need help at linebacker, though they never seem to agree.

Later-round sleepers: Louisiana-Lafayette tight end Ladarius Green (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/27935/ladarius-green)
could fill a need for them in the middle rounds if his knees check out
this week. And the Giants like to take late-round running backs, so keep
an eye on Senior Bowl star Doug Martin (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/28603/doug-martin) from Boise State.

Well i got a good deal from Jay Dees after talking to the owner and he put us down.* This place is perfect and is like a mile from the Stadium right on route 17.* Its next to the Meadowlands Diner (a couple of buildings before).

Top shelf not included, open bar.* But **** top shelf, i got him to include the shots in to hte price for hte open bar.
will you have something sent up for opening day?

So $35 per person, 4-8 (4 hour open bar) on April 25th.* They have a menu and a good grill from what I hear, but food isn't included. I really have no way of guaranteeing him a number so I couldn't work out the buffet.* Although I did tell him we'd have 20-50 people here.

Which brings me to a possibility...if landry was a black guy...ehhhh. maybe a small chance he was all natural. But very small, like 2% chance. It's the look that gives it away every time. Do you see how thin his skin is? There's like nothing between his skin and the muscles. Then you add that type of size to the picture and it usually does not happen naturally. If I had to guess, he's running @5% bodyfat, maybe less. You just don't achieve that type of size with that low of a bodyfat % naturally. Sure I could go down to 5% bodyfat naturally, but I would look like sticks and bones. There's no way I could maintain my size or bodyweight.

More revisionist history from Matt. The argument came before the Cruz explosion (before the 2011 season) and your view was that the decision would be between Steve Smith and Manningham after the 2012 season. (when MM's contract would be up)

My position was that MM and SS had completely different skill sets (Smith was a posession receiver and MM a deep threat and that was NEVER going to be the choice. This was at a time we assumed Smith would stay a Giant for 2012.

And your view was that we should keep Smith over Manningham.

I said that Smith vs, Manningham was a false choice. The point has become moot since Smith went to Philly and Cruz emerged as a legit threat.

at least ur admitting your having revisionist history.

First off this debate came from during the 2010 season not just before the cruz explosion.

Yes the debate WOULD have been between Mario and Smith. We would not have the money for both and we would have preferred smith because of his overall production, not just the fact he was a possession WR.

Once we didn't sign smith and before Cruz errupted, I would of said we would have signed Mario. The main point is that we both agreed Mario would turn into a talent and we would not dump that much money into the WR position with Nicks needing a new contract soon.

The reason we are going to go wtih Cruz over Manningham is because of production - nothing else. It would of been the same for Smith.

People who have not dedicated their lives to the weight/strength related sports commonly make similar statements. Look at the distended abdomen. There are telltale signs. I dunno man its scary. I see a bad future with the Giants and Cruz - may have hold out written all over it. I just can't see us being able to give him a deal within the next year. Then if we do - we are going to be in even worse cap trouble with Nicks contract is due. This is why i am saying Jerry need to KILLL the draft so we can get some young cheap talent for the next two years.

And be careful of that mainstays stuff - we all said the same thing about Smith.

GREAT call for Lloyd to Pats - i think thats the most perfect fit i've heard. Although I could see the Pats trying to make a move on Wallace. Worst case they force Steelers to spend money

Have to be careful here... We're not talking strictly size. Hulks bodyfat % is ALOT higher than Landry's in that photo.....and hulk juiced. I can't help but consider, how much EXTRA juice landry took to achieve that shredded state.

well theres different types of juice though, the kinds to bulk up and like a winnie cycle to shred no?

Then the rest is just natural body types

look at this size of his arms in both pictures. In one hes sweating and inflated... i wouldn't doubt that was post bicept work outs

dude is a professional athlete who always had a build like that and he has black guy build... i really don't think hes juiced

He's obviously huge but its the extreemly low body fat that makes him look so cut. His muscularity is definately achievable through natural means. Doesn't mean he's not juicing but it can definately come naturally.

The low body fat is just a matter of huge comittment to a proper diet.

yea i mean listen, i don't put it by any pro athlete to juice

and i have no reason to stand for Landry

but i actually think thats natural.. people are just built differently
Well this def looks much differnent than Cushing who went from doughboy to ripped monster

Landry was never a pudge, if anything he was lean making it easier for him to add muscle and it would def look more visually rewarding cause he doesnt have fat on top of muscle

The low body fat is just a matter of huge comittment to a proper diet.
It's ok, I;m used to this. People who have not dedicated their lives to the weight/strength related sports commonly make similar statements. Look at the distended abdomen. There are telltale signs. I would bet a bunch on his pharmaceutical intake at the time of this photo.

oh def, when i mean "natural" i just mean not steroids/hgh

I know what I know and that's all. Having been around this for so long, seeing guy's who look like Landry and hulk and hearing them honestly admit to me that they take **** makes it extremely difficult for me to ever believe someone could achieve those results naturally.

Yes, there are different types of stuff. Your right. If you took a winstrol or clenbuterol(I think those are for cutting up) then you could get very low bodyfat %. But you would not have any size unless you took some other bulking agent to get big before that. I don't know about juice personally, but from what I have heard, it's a long road down a terrible path of taking multiple diff things.

If you only took a cutting agent, you would resemble like a 150 lb asian guy, really lean, not huge, but muscular. This brings me to another point, I have known guy's that did cycles of clenbuterol and they only achieved minimal results in lowering their bodyfat %. This leads me to believe that there is even more **** the pro's or someone like landry take to get that degree of quality muscle in addition to size.

Does anyone know Landry's bodywt? If he is 150 lbs, I'd say there is a tiny bit more of a possibility he's clean. But if he's 240 plus--there's just no way. Of course I'm not god, just sayin.

Wait a minute, I know an amateur bodybuilder-that my buddy trains with. He admits to taking stuff, very nice guy, not huge ego, a good person. He's always wearing long sleeves and pants even at the gym. He runs at about 240 lbs in the off season. Last year he did an IFBB(International federation of Bodybuilding) pro qualifier national show. I saw him just before he went to the show. He dropped down to about 215 and did not even have the degree of muscle quality that landry displays in that photo. Food for thought. If something seems to good to be true, it usually is.

He is promoting a new product. He tore his Achilles and has been lifting all year I bet. Plus he does play in the NFL where they get mandatory testing just in case you guys forgot. You really think if he was juicing he would have been so upfront about putting them on Twitter? These are athletes that have been lifting as much weight as possible since High School. It is natural and also in those pics I'm sure he took them right after he got done working out so he was as swollen as possible.

I love you guy's. I don't want to sound like a know it all-cause I'm not. I apologize if that's how Im coming off. My first passion in life after my family is lifting, then NYG. The question of someone is on the sauce or not comes up constantly in my powerlifting circles. Since I competed in a drug free organization, this question was probably multiplied 50X over. All I can say is this.....I'm sorry if it contradicts my earlier statement above....I have never been wrong. All the guy's that I said were suspect eventually failed drug tests in our powerlifting federation(USAPL).Of course there's always a first time.
You're just jealous. lol j/k LT. Your arms are almost as big as his anyway...MH has him beat though.
Lol, I am jealous. I wish I could look like that, but I'm not willing to sacrifice my health, I have to be around for my kids. I have watched all the best documentaries on long term effects of steroids and although they still really do not know exactly what will happen after a lifetime of use, I'm not willing to take the gamble. Everyone always talks about Lyle Izato...I dunno if that was entirely due to the roids.
Yeah, it's very dangerous but the results sure are worth it. lol I took a cycle of Test when I was like 21 and I put on 30 pounds of muscle in 8 weeks. My left wrist gets sore sometimes and my ankle pops all the time so I don't know if it hurt my joints or what but we all do dumb **** when we are young. I am trying to lose weight right now and I hate dieting, I miss soda and Doritos. I know it will be worth it though.

Wow. Did you inject it? I could not do that. The whole thing in powerlifting(non-drug free) is how can an athlete increase their strength without increasing their bodyweight, thus putting them into the next bodywt division. The only way that works is if as you increase your muscles mass you decrease your bodyfat. Eventually you get to a point where you cannot decrease the bodyfat anymore or you will die, so an increase in bodywt has to occur.

31 minutes, 13 points, 5 rebounds. Nice line Amare in your most important game yet.

Your boy got abused by Chris "Soft" Bosh.

Can't knock Amare. They didnt even give him the ball in the 2nd half. no joke.
He abused Bosh in the first 2 quarters.

He has one nice drive with a and 1. lol

I was more or less speaking about the stat lines. Amare disappeared in that game. How is it possible he only gets 5 rebounds?

because he was out of position in help defense and stepping out and playing bosh.

Not to mention he dropped about 3 offensive rebounds early in the game... brutal

i know how it gets annoying with players saying they want out a year before their contract is up....

and they should def do it behind doors, regardless of how much the media gets leaks

BUT, at the end of the day its still better for the team losing the superstar.

I'm sorry, but dumping cap space and getting some talent back is DEF the thing to do if ur going to lose a superstar. Its in the best interest of the team. I don't care how pissed that Cavs owner is, if he could go back in time with what he knows now he would of DEF done the trade to get LBJ out of town

hopfully Slaughterhouse beats you... if not it will come down to not only who we play but how we do vs each other points wise for the rest of the year....

Why would you want Slaughterhouse to beat me? You scared? lol

why would i NOT want slaughterhouse to beat you? I have a 400 point lead on him

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reports that
Nets GM Billy King is "already working" on three and four-team trade
scenarios for Dwight Howard.

Mannix is careful to say that nothing is imminent,
but King will be ready to talk whenever Orlando GM Otis Smith is willing
to listen. New Jersey knows its Howard's first option, and King is
famous for working on trades that involve multiple teams. This won't be
the last we hear on the Howard trade front with the March 15 deadline
looming.

i know how it gets annoying with players saying they want out a year before their contract is up....

and they should def do it behind doors, regardless of how much the media gets leaks

Oh ya, no doubt about it. He didn't get anything for one of the best players ever. He could have gotten a ransom but he was confident Lebron would stay. The owner of the Magic should have taken a lesson on that. The J*** did it with D Will, Hornets with CP3 (still way worse than what the Lakers gave) and Melo is another example.

Dwight will be traded, no doubt about it. They just wanted to keep him there for the All Star Game.

By the way, can you tell me who is in first place in our league? [;)]

I always knew mario was gone...

I for a few weeks I thought he would stay this year in between Smith leaving and Cruz errupting, but that was always on the wall IMO

I remember Pappy having huge arguements with me how we would have the money...

Honestly even if the cap was 10 more million i still don't think we'd resign him

Well, I think after last season it was a little different. I think that we thought Smith would re-sign, and that we'd have to part with Manningham after this season b/c of the $$....but then when Smith left, we were like...ooooook, well at least we can keep Manningham. Buuuuuuuuttttt...then we got Cruz....stud central!! There's no way we can keep everyone. And Nicks is the best athlete on the field on offense. So he's here long term. So we can build with these 2 youngens!

I mean I never thought Manningham would be cheap. Obviously his price went up cuz of the postseason, but he would always cost a decent contract.

I think there is a scary possibility that we still lose Nicks or Cruz
shut your mouth.

We will NOT lose either Nicks or Cruz.* Its almost impossible.* It is however very unlikely that we keep Manningham.

88 and 80 (barring injury) will be mainstays in Giants blue.

If the Steelers lose Wallace (which I doubt) MM could be a candidate for Pitt.* If not I can see SF, Seattle, Cleveland or even NE. (although I think Brandon Lloyd has the inside track for NE)
The only Mario that i want playing for us is from Texas and would be a perfect fit for our defense...

What was with the Manningham facebook update? Pretty pompous move? I mean, I know it to be the truth, but damn!
