I always knew mario was gone...

I for a few weeks I thought he would stay this year in between Smith leaving and Cruz errupting, but that was always on the wall IMO

I remember Pappy having huge arguements with me how we would have the money...

Honestly even if the cap was 10 more million i still don't think we'd resign him
</p>

Well, I think after last season it was a little different. I think that we thought Smith would re-sign, and that we'd have to part with Manningham after this season b/c of the $$....but then when Smith left, we were like...ooooook, well at least we can keep Manningham. Buuuuuuuuttttt...then we got Cruz....stud central!! There's no way we can keep everyone. And Nicks is the best athlete on the field on offense. So he's here long term. So we can build with these 2 youngens!</p>

I mean I never thought Manningham would be cheap. Obviously his price went up cuz of the postseason, but he would always cost a decent contract.
<u>
I think there is a scary possibility that we still lose Nicks or Cruz</u>
shut your mouth.
</p>

We will NOT lose either Nicks or Cruz. Its almost impossible. It is however very unlikely that we keep Manningham. </p>

88 and 80 (barring injury) will be mainstays in Giants blue.</p>

If the Steelers lose Wallace (which I doubt) MM could be a candidate for Pitt. If not I can see SF, Seattle, Cleveland or even NE. (although I think Brandon Lloyd has the inside track for NE)</p>The only Mario that i want playing for us is from Texas and would be a perfect fit for our defense...

reallly?

I mean i would prefer Wallace and MAYBE lloyd if I was you but i would like Mario as well if I were u guys...

he is an ultimate deep threat... go look at his balls 20+ yards stat for the past 3 years and keep in mind he never really had a full time role for us

honestly losing Mario sucks, btu im not sweating it. If anything the Giants have shown that they have an eye for talent at WR and we may get a value on Steve Smith or somebody else

Assuming that Mario leaves we will either sign a vet FA WR on the cheap or use someone else on the roster (JJ, Hixon, Clayton, Thomas, Barden) as our third WR. Probably the latter.</P>

For those of you who are dreaming about Wallace or VJax, you need to have your head's examined.</P>

Agreed.
I'm looking for Barden to have a healthy season and see if we can get a better sample size of his talent.
Afterall, it took Manningham 2 seasons to get into our offense at all, so now's the time. I do kinda hope we get Smith actually, although i dont see him getting a ton of playing time. But, never know.</P>

nobody was, it was just a debate

Slipknot made a comment that hed rather trade a first rounder for wallace then just sign VJack which was ridiculous

I thought that maybe a guy like Reggie Wayne would be deferring money to sign with a contender but I was wrong, i was reading some of his quotes last week - hes looking for green.

as sick as it sounds, i think a healthy Steve Smith makes us better at WR than Mario did...

Smith's big play ability was underrated... he also HEAVILY improves our underneath passing game

I think going for WAllace would be the scariest thing that the pats could do. Not only would you heavily strengthen your team but you'd severely hurt the Steelers

2 vets we may be able to get bang for the buck with:

Marcus Trufant or Rashien Mathis

coming off injury, in their early 30s, would prob be half of what Ross is going to get

honestly losing Mario sucks, btu im not sweating it. If anything the Giants have shown that they have an eye for talent at WR and we may get a value on Steve Smith or somebody else

</p>

Agreed.
I'm looking for Barden to have a healthy season and see if we can get a better sample size of his talent.
Afterall, it took Manningham 2 seasons to get into our offense at all, so now's the time. I do kinda hope we get Smith actually, although i dont see him getting a ton of playing time. But, never know.</p>

as sick as it sounds, i think a healthy Steve Smith makes us better at WR than Mario did...

Smith's big play ability was underrated... he also HEAVILY improves our underneath passing game
i dont think smith has any big play making ability. hes fantastic in the short passing game though. but then again so are cruz and nicks. i dont want smith back, rather see what jj and barden can do

With the price Smith will most likely come with, it's totally possible we can drop Clayton, and not pay much more. Jernigan is not going to just come in and be a factor. Just like Manningham had to wait....Barden has waited...JJ will do the same.

im so on the fence about it

while I would love him back, especially after saying that

the possibilities of trading him for a second rounder and drafting a pass rusher high just intrigues me. Reese knows his Pass rushers and receivers
I like his individual play, but more importantly how he effects the dynamics to make the entire defensive line better. It's just overwhelming for oppossing offensive lineman we have soooo much talent up front.

yea but maybe trading him now and getting a mid round 2nd rounder for him would be sweet. We could land a young freak, save money, and be just as good...

i dunno

if he is asking ridic money then he has to go
</p>

We will try like hell to trade him on draft day. But I think they know they will probably get nothing better than a third round pick.</p>

2nd rounder or no point in trading him

he is DEF still 2nd round worthy. 12.5 sacks in 13 games is second round worthy

smith and cruz?

Mario started getting his in his second year

</P>

Smith had 8 receptions as a rookie.
Cruz is a freak...what would you want me to say about him? lol

And youre right about Manningham. I forgot that he came in right when we lost plax the year before, and drafted nicks. so it was good timing for him for sure. however, past few years, we been solid. thats why i think things change.

I am curious to see what the actual order of the depth chart is according to the coaching staff for the upcoming season (not that they have one at the moment or anything)</P>

</P>

I guess the only FA WR I see us bringing in is Steve Smith. There may be someone else that I can't think of but he seems the best fit for finding holes in the zones and making the third down catches. Plus he obviously knows the system and the QB.</P>

But we also have to consider that his "playmaking" days are over. I've been saying for a year that his microfracture surgery may have ended that aspect of his game.</P>

Matt is probably wrong again on that.</P>

wrong about what?
</P>

My God...where do I start?</P>

Oh Yeah...you were saying something about Steve Smith's great "playmaking ability". </P>

I don't see that ever being true again. Given his knee situation, I see a pure posession receiver.</P>

alrite mr.senile....

you can't comprehend or remember what i said 5 minutes, so its funny before your trying to say i have revisionist history...

First off, i said IF healthy. I said from his past performances his big play ability was UNDERRATED

And honestly after the year you've had in THEE thread with predictions vs my predictions you should be calling me PAPPY cuz you are my son..

Tell me your thoughts about Eli again....
</P>

Its not that he's not healthy. Its that this kind of surgery often leaves a player with far less explosiveness than before.</P>

And my opinion about Eli has not changed one bit. My position has always been that he played lousy in 2010. He was crappy in the pocket. he rushed his throws in the face of a pass rush. He tended to be overly amped early in many games and was throwing high which created a lot of tipped balls.</P>

In 2011 he was much calmer and better in the pocket. He was willing to move to his right and step up in the pocket to create more time. And he generally made much better decisions in the pocket this past season.</P>

In other words....he was MUCH better this year...Dad.</P>

I feel like I was just here. I was, Coughlin said.</p>

He says the great memories are on every street corner. . . .Its a little bit of a blur,but its a magnificent blur.</p>

Once the reverie was over, Coughlin actually gave out some useful nuggets:</p>

1. Coughlin has not had serious contract extension talks with the Giants. His contract runs out in 2012.</p>

2. On Brandon Jacobs (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3146/brandon-jacobs): As far as Im concerned, hes a big part of [the Giants' future].</p>

3. Coughlin fully expects Osi Umenyiora (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/975/osi-umenyiora) to be on the team next season.</p>

I hate it too. Whatever though, these people don't understand. Theythink EVERY player is greedy, and that everyone has to, and WILL stay a Giant forever. It wasn't even Manningham's fault that Cruz EXPLODED this year, and he didn't get the ball as much as he would have if Cruz wasn't a stud.

He is going to get paid more than double to play for another team. Loyalty only goes so far and we can't pay him that much. He has been a great Giant and made one of the most important catches in the history of the franchise. People can say whatever they want but if a company offered them 60% more than they made a year to do the same thing there is not a person on the planet who wouldn't leave.

Wow-You're right about one thing, no one should blame him for his decision. He's one injury away from never playing again. He would be foolish not to make the $ now when he can.

Not sure if I mentioned it last time you guys discussed it, but...they film a bunch of parts of Eastbound this season in my dad's neighborhood. He said they are still there once in awhile, and have HBO signs that say something like sorry for the traffic delays, but we're filming.

There was another show they filmed in his marina during the fall too....struggling to remember the name of it.Kenny is so wrong on sooo many levels that it's just perfect.

"Sources tell CBS' Clark Judge there is
"virtually no chance" free agent Mario Manningham re-signs with the
Giants, and that he is "expected" to sign with the Bucs.</p>
</div>
<div class="impact">
Profootballtalk.com reported on Friday
Manningham was set to hit the open market, but this is the first we've
heard of the Bucs as a potential destination. Manningham is said to
prefer warm-weather cities, and would be reuniting with former Giants
QBs coach Mike Sullivan in Tampa, who was recently named the Bucs'
offensive coordinator. Tampa is also awash in cap space and in need of a
vertical threat its receiver corps, so at least on paper, it's a very
logical landing spot for Manningham."

In an interview with The Vindicator of Youngstown, Ohio, Manningham said
he is "75 percent" sure he will sign with another team in free agency.

Manningham
-- who was presented a key to his hometown, Warren, Ohio, on Friday --
said that there were many benefits of playing with a top-notch
quarterback like Eli Manning (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/5526/eli-manning). But Manningham added that he would like a bigger role and more targets. </p>

"He
is, but there are a lot of good quarterbacks in this league,"
Manningham told The Vindicator. "I just want the ball more, that's all."
</p>

Manningham's comments are different than the one he made
the day after his team's Super Bowl win, when he gave Giants fans hope
that he'd return.</p>

"I wanna come back," Manningham said at
that time. "I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm going to try to
enjoy this Super Bowl (win). I'm not really thinking about that right
now."</p>

When asked on Saturday if negotiations with Manningham are not going well, Reese replied, "it's free agency." </p>

"March
13, that's free-agent time and guys are free to do what they want to
do," the general manager said. "Again, he's been a good player for us,
we'll see where we are when we know exactly what the cap number is and
hopefully things will work out for us." </p>

Reese refused to put any odds on the chances of Manningham returning. </p>

"I
don't think it's fair to frame the odds on that," Reese said. "He's a
good football player and obviously players, when free agency comes
around for them, they want to make as much money as possible. So we'll
see how it unfolds. But he is a good football player and we're glad he's
been a Giant for us and his contributions are outstanding for us. We'll
see what happens moving forward with respect to that." </p>

During their press conferences at the scouting combine last week, both Giants coach Tom Coughlin and Reese talked about Jerrel Jernigan (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14040/jerrel-jernigan), last year's third-round pick, being a young player who may have an opportunity to make a jump this coming season. Ramses Barden (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/12555/ramses-barden) also is in the mix at the third-receiver spot if Manningham leaves.</p>

I'm afraid to see what the finished product might look like if I were to try it myself lmaoha. Each morning when I get coffee, I see this kid with this honda hatchback type car...he got all the racing stickers on the windows and what not. I noticed he's got a 4x4 under the wheel to chuck the vehicle so it doesn't move when he's getting gas. I asked him if his parking brake is broken--His reply, was something I have never heard before. He said that the summer heat stretches out the parking break cable. Se he removes the cable at the end of each summer and hangs it up so it can tighten up. Then he said this car is not his reg one--he said his other car blew up. At this point, I was running out of responses....lol. I confirmed that it was a standard and he said he drives nothing other than standard. I said then if you are on a flat grade, and the car is off , if put it in gear you should be ok.

I don't have a white Eli jersey. I put it in my road Nicks jersey. It's even cooler because he had 10 catches for 109 yards both Giants Superbowl records. I am not buying anymore jerseys until I see what Nike is doing. If they leave the road jerseys the same then I'll get an Eli and put both patches on it. If it was me I would put the 42 patch on one side and the 46 patch on the other side. The captains patch is cool but everyone knows who the captain is.

Lando-your mom's sewed yours already? Dammm, my sb46 patch and captain patch are still sitting in my drawer.
I had her sew it the second I got it in the mail. lol
It fit on there ok? You did the superbowl logo and the captain patch correct? Did the jersely already have the sb 42 patch?
I don't have a white Eli jersey. I put it in my road Nicks jersey. It's even cooler because he had 10 catches for 109 yards both Giants Superbowl records. <u>I am not buying anymore jerseys until I see what Nike is doing.</u> If they leave the road jerseys the same then I'll get an Eli and put both patches on it. If it was me I would put the 42 patch on one side and the 46 patch on the other side. The captains patch is cool but everyone knows who the captain is.
Goooood thinking. I was just about to pull the trigger on a Tuck away jersey.
I know the new Nike jerseys will be cool, but my feeling is that we have not set any history in the new Nike's jersey's yet. I'm going try to wait until at least the 2013 season before I get a nike jersey. Unless they are completely freaking coool.

Friggin drama at Old Guns. Our lead singer/bass player is moving back to Philly in May. We are doing one more big show in April. Its a friggin shame since we were starting to develop a nice sound.</P>

So I am starting vocal lessons and will try to front the band. We will just need a bass player. But it does give me the chance to play some of my original songs which was always the goal for me.</P>

We do have a couple new musicians to jam with (one bass player and one quitar player, father and son) both really good musicians so we will see. Right now we are just jamming with them.</P>

I am also working on a solo act that I will start performing this summer as well. Me and my guitar.</P>

well there's one thing I would hope most voters can agree on. But youre really stretching for one specific issue, one that alot of politicians' opinion can be swayed on.

We no longer look at content of character. Something none of these people have. The fact that you say "you dont care who he likes" makes you about as closeminded as him. And not to bash, but I already kind of expected that kind of comment from you considering the way you treat people most of the time anyway, so Im not surprised. But I don't hold it against you.
I can't expect every single person to be a decent human being. But all these people are fake....and that's why I'd probably feel better about myself voting for Stephen Colbert than anyone who will end up on the ballot. Sad, eh?</P>

You have no idea how I treat people. You are judging by smack talking on a MB? What kind of shallow nonsense is that.</P>

My daughter and two stepdaughters would disagree with you completely about how I treat people. My wife of 15 years would also. My brothers and sisters might as well as they know how hard I work to keep us all together through difficult times. The people who benefit from the time and money my wife and I give to charities might disagree as well.</P>

Cold hard facts. We just passed 100% in our national debt/GDP ratio. With Obama's proposed budget (by his own numbers) we will pass 120% in just a few years. Greece is at 120% right now.</P>

You can blame the GOP if you want, they certainly acted like democrats under Bush, especially with the $700B Medicare part D bill (unfunded of course). But it was Fanny and Freddy who had the largest hand in our bankinf crisis. Those are darlings of the Dems.</P>

Fanny and Freddie are essentially government entities that were buying up bad mortgages and encouraging banks to lower their underwriting standards with the aim of growing home ownership. Nice intentions, but it caused a housing bubble and the inevitable collapse in housing. The sttep drop in bank assetts as a product caused the bankrupcy of Lehman Bros. and the bailout of AIG.</P>

The former chairman of the banking commitee in the House, Barny Frank was the primary defender of F &amp; F, declairing that "there was no problem with Fanny and Freddy" as the Republicans were raising hell about the lowering of lending standards. As a matter of fact, Ron Paul publicly predicted the collapse in 2005.</P>

Pappy - theres not enough magic pants in the world to elect Romney

#yougethashtaggedforthat
</p>

Your life will be immeasurably better if it happens. Its not me. I'm fine regardless of who gets elected. Its guys your age who will be ****ed if Obama gets re-elected. </p>

The only thing that stands between the U.S. and Greece is a republican in the White House.</p>

So its my love for MMB and Lando that causes me to support Mitt.</p>

Republicans are the reason we are in this mess (mostly)

You republicans surely do have a flair for the dramatic.. .we're one step away from being Greece?

Obama is getting reelected. Theres a better shot at MArio being a Giant than a republican winning....
</p>

I love you Matt, and I want you to be happy. So I support the guy who can best help make that happen.</p>

lol fannie and freddie are democratic darlings?

like i said, whatever you need to get through the day pappy

don't make me drop the TAKEOVER on you (double meaning)
</p>

Spin it as you will Matt, the facts are what they are.</p>
So everyone else gets their post deleted when they bring up politics except u guys eh lool? I'm calling shenanigans!!

In all fairness though, I think they're both screwed but the Dems more so. Although Bush was in power when the financial crisis occurred, Obama's bailouts didn't help one darn bit, quiet the contrary actually.

What you both need is Ron Paul and not these snakes in suits. He's the only one who will actually cut spending and uphold the constitution, he's the only real 'conservative' out of all of them. But worst case scenario, I'll take Romney over Obama any day, Obama has got to go. And I'm almost 100% Romney will represent the GOP.

This is fun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5yxFtTwDcc)

No but really all you need to do is look at the national Debt Clock Matt.

Bush took over National Debt was a 5.7 Trillion Dollars...8 Years later it was at 9.4 Trillion Dollars.

Obama takes over, National Debt goes from 9.4 Trillion Dollars to 15.4 Trillion Dollars in 4 years.

not to mention 1.7 Million less jobs since the day he took over (6 Million less from Bush's best)
http://www.usdebtclock.org/index.html

dude is TERRIBLE for the economy...I can understand if you like him for Social reasons but economically Obama and his administration is a death sentence for our country...

ANYONE is better...but Romney is the worst of the choices in my opinion.

Also I just saw a claim recently.

it said the average cost per month for healthcare in Mass (which has done what Obama care is supposed to do just on a state level)

600$ Month - Average wait for an appointment 50 Days - Boston

it was compared to Atlanta which is a more "average" health care system.

200$ Month - Average wait for an appointment 11 Days - Atlanta

so why is the statewide healthcare plan in Mass considered a success if it's increasing cost and lowering quality of care...and if that's the case why did Obama base his plan off that one...and is that what we can all expect for everyone once it starts being implemented on a federal level?

I would vote for Romney (I guess) if he gets the nod (which he should)

But I won't be happy about it, he's pretty much just the reverse of Obama...he's gonna spend spend spend like crazy as well....just in different places, and he's ALMOST as dishonest as Obama as well.

Speaking of Obama...

The Giants will host the season opener on Wednesday, September 5. The
game was moved a day earlier than usual in order to avoid President
Barack Obamas Thursday speech at the Democratic National Convention.

Were
not sure who the Giants will face in the season opener, but the
Packers, Saints, and Steelers all make strong candidates. The NFL
usually avoids scheduling a division game for the first game of the
season.

I live in Mass Daven. I call my doctor at 9:00 and he can see me no later than 11:00. All the Mass. HC law does is insure the small minority that aren't insured now. It has absolutely NO EFFECT on the 95% of people who already have insurance.</P>

My insurance is great actually. We have a low deductable and no co pay. Its because we have good insurance through the market system.</P>

I have no idea where these numbers of yours come from. I live here.</P>

regarding Obama. He seems like a nice guy with a nice family. I also thinks he genuinly cares about people. But he has no understanding of economics and markets. He has never had to live in the world of free market capitalism. His policies will be the end of us. Not because he's sinister in any way, but because he is wrong.</P>

Give me the guy who advances and implements policies based on sound economic and fiscal principles. the very same principles that have creates the most prosperous and just society on the face of the planet. This would benefit us all.</P>

Hmm well I guess I'm glad to hear that, do you know anyone who doesn't have their own market based Insurance that uses the states?

I mean I'm hoping that the personal mandate (fine/tax thing) get's ruled unconstitutional all the way through the court system because I believe Obama care hinges on that correct?

I wonder though since you live in Mass (and I know you like Romney) are you ok with a national healthcare plan obviously not Obama care but any national health care plan I mean.
