even Phil said it was goaltend, whatever tho

I have argued with Matt for 4 days now about this. He thinks the shot would be made 9 out of 10 times. He says that it was a missed layup and that it is a ridiculous statement that it was a hard shot. Maybe you can knock some sense into him but he is being very stubborn about this. The was shot extremely hard but he will never admit it.

he touched the Rim and Net, but it didn't look like it effected the shot, I think it needs to effect the shot to be considered goal tending...at least that's what the announcers said.

Gasol looked like he thought it was goal tending though...his face was the face of guilty as he was walking off the court.

Rose said as long as Gasols hand is touching the rim " it's a goaltend..."</P>

Look at the ****ing picture bro. He is flying out of bounds. He just barely released the ball in this photo. His body is contorted. You are nuts Matt. This was an incredibly hard shot and like I have told you before. I think it is 50/50 at best. I don't care who you have shootin it.

I have argued with Matt for 4 days now about this. He thinks the shot would be made 9 out of 10 times. He says that it was a missed layup and that it is a ridiculous statement that it was a hard shot. Maybe you can knock some sense into him but he is being very stubborn about this. In the history of sports, I've never heard the phrase "vacant championship" when a previous champion in eliminated. If I'm wrong, we would constantly here that a team is "no longer champs" when they get eliminated. It has never happened in the media. ever.</P>

You are being silly.</P>

No, no, no Blondie....

If you are not in the running for Ms. America 2010 after winning it in 2009, you are "last year's Ms. America"

If the Phillies don't make the playoffs (and they won't, don't worry [;)]), they won't be the reigning champs or the defending champs because they got beat. They will be last year's champs, not defending because they got eliminated.

The Giants were the defending champs until the Eagles knocked us out. Then we became last year's champs. Somebody knocked us off the throne and the throne was vacated until Pittsburgh won

Exactly the same as my Secretariat argument. These guys are confusing the "defending championship" line that gets thrown around. You are Champs until someone else becomes champ.</P>

This year in the NBA, the Celtics were on the figurative throne. The were sitting in the throne, the kings of the NBA and were defending their title all season long. Made the playoffs and everything.

They got eliminated in the second round. They are no longer reigning champs or defending champs. Somebody beat them and knocked them off their throne. The throne is now vacated. They are unable to defend their championship now because they got knocked out. The throne is free and is there for the taking for either Orlando or LA

you need to have the ability to "Reign" or control your destiny in order to be considered a reigning champ, you need to be able to exercise you power...once you are mathmaticly eliminated that's taken away from you, thus, if you are no longer a defending champ...logically you can not be a reigning champ.

i have an arguement here.. sorry to bring the girl aspect in... but think of it this way like a beauty pagent.you win... there for you are miss. america, you are miss america until there is a new one crowned the following year- EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE RUNNING. therefore, the phillies are the reigning champs. if they dont make the playoffs they are still the reigning champs until somenone else wins the world series. just like the giants were the reigning champs until the steelers won, even after the eagles knocked us out.

</P>

Fine, show me anywhere where the league took that position.* Show me the league defenition of "vacant championship".</P>

show me where it says the Celtics are still champions

there is a difference between defending champs and reigning champs.* you are the DEFINDING champs until someone knocks you out, that i can understand because if you dont have a chance at defending your current title ok fine but you are still the reigning champs until someone else is crowned champion no matter how you slice it...</P>

go look up the definition of reigning... the reign ended upon being eliminated</P>

so when the browns beat us we werent the champs anymore?</P>

first off that line says nothing about whoever beats u is the new champ...

and its meant obviously not in a regular season game, but in a season ending post season type situation..

u and moorehead have both tried using that, its so weak. I expect better than that from both of u

you reading the ****ing definition correctly.... it is just a different way of looking at things and obviously im not the only one that looks at is this way id other people agree with me so calm down over there shorty. your wrong.</p>

im getting very angry over here. time for a lunch break. be back...</p>

You can't call me shorty...shorty....[:P]

And don't get all riled up, I'm just bolding and cusing for emphasis...[:P]

Point is.

first, when reading a definition, you are supposed to take #1) first, then...if it doesn't apply, take #2).
the problem is, you are skipping number one..because it doesn't agree with your message...but ...you can't just skip something and act like it doesn't exist...not when we are having a logical debate...come on.

secondly, the 2nd definition of Reign doesn't specify anything at all, it says <span>"To hold the title of monarch, but with limited authority.</span>" Limited authority, in this case, has to do with the time period, and since the definition doesn't say, (time period = until taken over by someone else) it doesn't prove a point, it's irrelevant, all you are doing is saying that for example, the Celtic's were AT ONE POINT Reiging champs...it doesn't say for how long they were or are...the [2] in that definition does not, in any logical way...help your argument.

thirdly, just cause other people agree with you doesn't mean your right [:P]

the Giants rule ended when they were eliminated. To consider them the champions of the league during the NFCC game is ridiculous</P>

why? did someone else win a superbowl after the giants and before the steelers??</P>

there is not always a champion at ALL times of a sport.. its a ridiculous premis so suggest that last years winner, who is currently eliminated, is the champion of this year</P>

not of this year! until someone else wins.</P>

please show me ANYWHERE that still considers the Celtics champions... anywhere</P>

its my opinion. just like yours. show me where anyone says the celtics arent the current nba champs.</P>

until someone wins the title the celtics are champs. i dont see why this is such an issue. in a few days there will be a new champ.</P>

</P>

But we can show them where the NBA says they were champs. It was last June when they handed them the trophy.</P>

Its up to them to show when the league took away that status.</P>

They can't get around that.</P>

i have an arguement here.. sorry to bring the girl aspect in... but think of it this way like a beauty pagent.you win... there for you are miss. america, you are miss america until there is a new one crowned the following year- EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE RUNNING. therefore, the phillies are the reigning champs. if they dont make the playoffs they are still the reigning champs until somenone else wins the world series. just like the giants were the reigning champs until the steelers won, even after the eagles knocked us out.

See I disagree, I don't think the Giants were reigning champs anymore immediately after our loss to Philly.

PHOENIX -- Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie says he's "one step closer" to bringing the Phoenix Coyotes (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=pho) to southern Ontario.</p>

Balsillie
made the statement on his Web site Wednesday, a day after a hearing in
U.S. Bankruptcy Court on his bid to buy the Coyotes and move them over
the objections of the NHL.</p>

Judge Redfield T. Baum indicated the
NHL is entitled to a relocation fee, and if Balsillie balks at the fee
as too high, his bid would evaporate.</p>

Balsillie, however, painted
the issue in a positive light in a message posted at makeitseven.ca,
the Web site he has developed for his effort to move the team.</p>

"However
it works out, the issue of a relocation fee, while a new development,
does move us one step closer to bringing the Coyotes to Hamilton,"
Balsillie said.</p>
