we're starting from scratch. I'm changing my vote. I did essentially have the compromise first cuz I thought it would make everybody happy.

Vote the way u want I know Matt making everybody happy may be impossible..lol ... if I'm understanding the vote correctly standard3wr like last year, 3wrsflex or 2wrflex ?

personally I think this is the best way to handle the whole thing everybody gets their vote back with all options on the table.....

Verlander completely gassed the Yanks last night. That guy is so ridiculous.....

Price and Weaver are posting better records. If Jered Weaver had the same amount of Ks as Verlander, he'd be the clear cut favorite for the Cy Young at his ridiculous pace, but he missed a few starts on the DL.

did season ticket holders get tickets yet? Just curious when I should start looking for Giants/Browns tixGot em yesterday. Theyre very nice. each ticket is the shot of a Lombardi or the trophy from before the sb inside a locker with a Jersey hanging up. Elis jersey is up next to the latest, Stras jersey 07, LT 90, simms 86. Wasnt sure who the older ones were, im going to look into that. number 44 was hanging next to the older trophy(theyre nice looking, like them better than the Lombardi) Yes i go to games.

Is it just me....this new board is a pain in the ***...I try hard sometimes to make a thoughtful post..."believe it or not" and not easy for me....and then hit post only to find out I've been logged off and lose the whole thing....I've checked this pc inside and out and can't find anything wrong.....I had none of these problems with the old board......hang ups and log outs.....I'm going to plug in my old machine as a last resort to make sure its not on my end....man its frustrating

nothing wrong with your PC B-dog, the new boards are just really really terrible, I used to frequent quite a few boards on a daily basis, these are by far the worst boards I've ever ever seen...and that is saying something believe it or not.

I would recommend, after typing out your response, before hitting post/reply copy the whole thing....just highlight it and CTRL+C .... just in case...cause it seems like its 50/50 at best on whether these forums will post it or log you off.

My problem is that its very hard to post or reply. Almost always the proper screen doesn't appear when you hit reply. Then I have to hit reply with quote again and more than half the time the screen appears for a half a second then disappears. I have to log off the internet completely and go back in to try again. It actually won't let me post at all without quoting another post.
Not sure if there is a problem with my computer but I never had anything like this in the old boards.
Its definately causing me to use the boards less.
Also it won't let me edit posts at all. When I hit edit, a screen comes up that has a box for "reason for the edit" but won't let me type anything.
Its a screwed up situation.

It's so weird too, because that happened to me for the first week and a half.....and now, my work computer pretty much stays logged on.

However, at home, it will ocassionally log me, seemingly at random....

My thinking is that it might be a browser thing....like whoever designed these ****ty boards, didnt take into consideration that like 98% of people use about 4 different browsers, between IE, FF, Chrome, and Safari....and the boards get all butthurt depending on what youre using because they didnt perfect the site for all browsers. However, I'm not a programmer or web designer, so wtf do I know....lol

Iv been having the same problem as B. It usually happens when I enter a thread, leave the thread and enter a different category like tagf. Its annoying. But Iv also been having some problems replying, it usually takes like 10 mins for the reply button to work or it times out. Reply with quote was timing out for me as well.

He wasn't doing that at all. He was just pissed off theat they played so badly. The team was 15-1 and they played like they were 1-15. Doesn't bother me that he thinks they beat themselves. If we play that badly (and we have) I would expect our players to think the same thing. He wasn't trying to disrespect us. Just frustrated.

I havent run any anti-virus since 2005. never had a problem with my computers other than them eventually slowing down and becoming obsolete due to old parts. Those anti virus suites have always been such memory/resource hogs. Plus, who knows if they cause problems with regular internet usage like yorue suggesting, cuz i sure as hell dont know lol

Its always the same, a handful of so called "Eli homers" have to call people every name in the book when they dare to suggest that Eli isn't quite a HOF'r yet. Its a boring and predictable cycle.

420 is the worst of them but its usually the same posters every time.

There aren't any 2 time SuperBowl MVP Winng QB's that "aren't" in the HOF, plus Eli's numbers have been fantastic the last 3 years (a few too many ints 2 years ago...but anyone who actually watched the games knows very few of those actually had anything to do with him anyhow)

I think its QUITE a stretch to say that Eli Manning isn't a Hall of Famer.....even if he were to never play again it's almost guaranteed that he'd be in, in fact I'm not even willing to say almost...I'm willing to say that if he never played another game right now Eli would be in the Hall just with what he's already done....for sure.

at least that's my opinion.

I don't think anyone is saying that he not on a trajectory to be a HOF'r. We're just saying that he is still in the middle of his career and he's not there yet. If he comes out the next two seasons and stinks it up a lot of people would rethink it. I don't expect that of course but thats why they play the games.

And to say that if he never played another game he would be in the Hall doesn't make sense to me. He's had one truly great season and even there he wasn't even voted to the Pro Bowl. (of course you guys give great creadence to the "vote" for SB MVP) I guess in your minds one vote is OK but the other isn't)

He's thrown for 4k+ yards and 25+TD's for the last 3 years....with pretty much rookie wide receivers mind you, also he has 2 Super bowl wins and MVPs (I never said pro bowls don't count...but those are voted on by fans super bowl MVP's are not) not to mention a knack for coming up big in clutch situations...

I've been saying it for 2-3 years, I think Eli has been good forever, Last year was just him showing how good he already was...honestly I don't think he actually improved in any major way last year when compared with the 2 years before that besides statistically...and that's because the new receivers finally figured out how he works.

He's a HOF QB right now even if he never plays again in my opinion, I know it doesn't make sense to you MH for me to say that but alternatively it doesn't make any sense at all to me....for anyone to even think about denying that...so I guess we just agree to disagree.

Yea, but I'm goign to continue to see both sides of the argument.
So many people say it isn't about statistics, so you cant say thing about how statistically he will shatter the numbers of current HOFers....which ok, fine whatever....
But then at the same time, there ARE QBs who are in the HOF who won nothing.....so can you really use SBs as a bench mark? Not exactly...

So then the debate really becomes; Will Eli be a HOFer with 2 superbowl rings, and his current stats? Or does he have to win 1 more to solidify at his same statistical pace? or does he have to GREATLY improve his statistics, and winning another SB is not necessary?

basically what im saying, is **** this argument....hahahaha

btw, I happen to personally think he could retire RIGHT NOW, and would be voted in the HOF, just because there are other QBs in the hall with lesser credentials....

He's a very good QB who's had a nice career. He's looked great at times and absolutely horrible at times. He's only been to one pro bowl and that was as a 3rd stringer. He's just not great yet. All you guys talk about how he'll accumulate enough stats but he hasn't yet. He's won 2 SB's and that a huge plus on his side of the ledger. But intil last season he wasn't even considered as a guy in the top 6 or 7 in the league. Right now I put him at 5 behind Brady, Peyton, Brees and Rodgers. And thats coming off his best season by far.
The guy has been clutch but he's also be horrible. He had two of the worst playoff games that a QB has ever had at home.
I'm sure he's on his way, but not if he doesn't maintain the very high standard he set last season. If he returns to "pretty good" I don't think thats good enough.

we just weight things differently I suppose MH.

I'm looking at it like this, suppose you need 100pts to get into the HOF.

great statistics like last season will give you say 10pts towards the Hall, that's how guys like Marino got in, they have 10+ seasons like that and have records as well it puts them over 100.

but I also see Super bowls wins as HUGE contributors...there are some "ok" QB's that won SB's an that's what put them over the top that are in the HOF.

a SB win and MVP to me would be worth say 40 pts....eli has TWO that puts him at 80pts purely on the fact that he has SB wins and MVPs.

Give him another 5 for the pro bowl appearance, give him another 10 for last years statistics.....and the two years before that were also pretty damn good years in my opinion even though you disagree...(because of the int's one year, which I'm sorry but...everyone knows they weren't on him) I'm gonna give him 5 for the two years before that.

he's already in.

throw in the fact that he spoiled a perfect season, that he's been clutch to the point of legend.... like Elway maybe even better then him, over his career thus far.

I'm sorry Morehead, I just can't agree with you, you are down playing everything he's done outside of the superbowl wins and ALSO not giving him the credit he's due for those.

I'm not being homerish I'm being objective you are reacting to people who are calling Eli the best QB ever and have turned against Eli, you don't look at it objectively I honestly believe if Eli was playing for another team you would be calling him a HOF...but because you have to deal with blowhards here jumping on his **** you've taken the other side just because you think someone has to.

The second SB he gets all the credit in the world for for me. He was the best player on the team and played great. The first SB season he played pretty badly for a lot of the season, including the MN game that Dez mentioned (I believe that was 07) and that horrific Buffalo game where KG would let him pass on third and long because he was so horrible that day. His playoff run was compitent in that he protected the ball which is the most important thing at the time. His productivity other wise was right around his average. (220 yards/game, 1,5 TD's per game). Tuck was the real MVP in that SB.
So in my view he's had one great season. He was 4th in passing. Probably deserved a pro bowl. But other than that he's just been "very good". If he continues to play like he did last season, he's gunna be a HOF'r. No doubt about it. But lets see it.

Yes he had two bad games that season, every great QB (including his brother) has bad games...and I'll even give you that Eli's bad games are sometimes worse then other QB's bad games...when he loses it...he REALLY loses it.

but the first SB he took our team down the field and scored the winning TD with seconds left, sure our defense held an explosive offense to minimal scoring to put him into that position....but once in that position he did what many...in fact MOST other QB's would not be able to do, he deserves a TON of credit for the first superbowl...perhaps more for the second....but he is a MAJOR reason we won the first one also.

No I don't think he would, was plunkett a 2 Time Super Bowl MVP? no .... 1 time yes, and like Trent Dilfer...he was not very good outside of that.

Eli's been VERY good (if not great) for 3 years straight statistically in my opinion, on top of that he's ALSO got 2 Super Bowl MVP's.

He's one of those guys who got in like Gail Sayers. They were truly great but were either hampered or had their careers cut short. I think the fact that he almost personally changed the NFL forever by bringing about the merger, plus his incredible talent got him in.

Its another example that stats aren't the determining factor for the Hall like they are in baseball. Great players get in and very good players don't, no matter what the stats.

If it was just stats, then Vinny Testeverde, Kerry Collins nad Steve Deberg would get to the Hall.

No.....
he had 1 really good season, and overall, a rather low completion % as a QB, significantly worse INT seasons than Eli, a sub .500 winning record, and only had 130 career starts despite a 12 year career. I dont think he fits into the "Great QB" discussion personally.
It's just that people get caught up in this cindarella story that happens always in the NFL...i mean, techincally we did the crazy underdog thing twice...lol

Which brings me to my point. Now there was really no historical value (besides beating a 18-0 team) with Elis 2 superbowls BUT has there ever been a qb in the NFL that has been more clutch, reliable, dependable ect. with championship games(or any other games) on the line, than Eli Manning? I disagree with this, you simply can not compare stats from that era to this one, I mean you used to pretty much be able to tackle receivers while the ball was in the air back then...not to mention QB's.

now you can't touch a QB at all and receivers have to have caught the ball and taken a few steps before you can pop them too!

if you think about any two of them guys coming up for the vote at the same time it could play big no?

Well, I would assume that Brady and Brees will retire before Eli, and Rodgers after that....so i dont know if that would be a factor...but, ya never know.

(of course you guys give great creadence to the "vote" for SB MVP) I guess in your minds one vote is OK but the other isn't)If Eli retired right now he would be a hall of famer based on his 2 SB MVPs alone.

Honestly we have yet to see the best Eazy E has to offer, every season his maturity level SOARS through the roof, Im LOVIN IT!!!!

....And to think, I used to be an Eli basher, PSH

I think so too. The fact that it's debatable is a positive thing for most of us. thats right I've always liked and had faith in Eli but there have been times he has left me wondering wtf is he doing....Eli is Eli as we used say he got his own bag of swag unlike no other....He's a devoted humble guy who works hard everyday year to improve his game...and the #'s bear that out... and I dare say thats where his greatness lies...no negatives there at all

Morehead State

is that rhetorical? lol...

No.....
he had 1 really good season, and overall, a rather low completion % as a QB, significantly worse INT seasons than Eli, a sub .500 winning record, and only had 130 career starts despite a 12 year career. I dont think he fits into the "Great QB" discussion personally.
It's just that people get caught up in this cindarella story that happens always in the NFL...i mean, techincally we did the crazy underdog thing twice...lol
Other than Dan Marino, he was the best pure passer I ever saw. And he had a lot of show off the field, but he was one tough football player on it.

Not getting hurt doesn't make you tough. It means no one has gone after your knees etc... It means you've been damn lucky.
Some of the toughest guys are guys who have come back from terrible injuries, like Phil Simms. Waiting for the last second to throw a football, knowing your gunna get hit, and then getting your finger caught in Carl Hairston's facemask and making a throw (dislocation his finger) doesn't make you less than tough. It actually makes you very tough.

This is a BS point your making Pizz.

Had to see him play. His release was incredible and his spiral was tighter than any I had ever seen. And even though he had a rifle arm, (he'd have the best arm in the current NFL if he played today) He had an easy ball to catch because he threw a nose up ball.
The league was very differnt then. You could maul WR's and kill QB's. And there was no dumping the ball off back then either. Today's league is a joke as far as how easy it is in the passing game compared to then. Plus, QB's called their own plays then. You had to be the OC on the field as well as the QB.

Dude morehead, sometimes I think you just hate Eli, don't you remember the shoulder seperation that EVERYONE said he was going to take 4-6 weeks to recover from? all the experts and the doctors said it, he was out there the next week...didn't miss a game.

then there was the foot thing plantar fasciitis? he played through that as well, he played well even after getting KILLED against SF last year....

ELI is unquestionably one of the toughest QB's in the NFL right now....not because he's been "lucky" but because he plays through pain...period.

Yea Eli will pass him in starts this year, in MUCH less time....im sure he did get hit alot. Though football-reference.com says that in the years they tracked sacks, he took SIGNIFICANTLY less sacks than Eli already has....109 vs. 194(first 4 years they werent tracked, so lets be generous and say 150 for namath)

Unitas was at the end of his career when Namath was in his prime. Jurgensen was a fine player but not close to Namath. Staubach was really much later than Namath and Staubach is one of the top 7 or so QB's of all time. And Namath was better than Len Dawson (who was a fine QB).

You realize that Staubach and Namath's careers overlapped by only a few years, right? It's like the difference between Brady and Eli....and they are the same era of football...

so where are the 3wr/no Flex results? I'm confused...also what is "standard?" usually for 90% of leagues the standard scoring is actually 2WR/Flex so...if we already have the standard option there why do we have two options for the same thing, unless MMB is calling 3WR standard...which is silly, why not just call it 3WR/No Flex?

yeah ok...maybe to "YOU" Standard means that.....

I still think you should have made the poll "2RB+3WR" vs "2RB+2WR+Flex" vs "2RB+3WR+Flex"

The league should change every single year (unless we start making it a keeper league) it's like government you gotta keep tweaking it all the time...making amendments.

That is highly unusual, I'm pretty sure I would hate that league, rules need to change with changes in football...they just have too, otherwise the leagues scoring for example just becomes ridiculous...no one could have imagined there would be 3-4 QB's throwing for 45+ TDs even 10 years ago....

keeping a rigid rule set for a FF league is a recipe for failure.

I mean you don't find it curious that he "explains" both Flex options exactly as they are and then for the option he wants he just goes ahead and calls it "Standard"

lol your a moron

it is referred to as standard, fantasy football calculator backs me as does anybody whose ever referred to their league standings the reference standard or flex. Your experience with leagues may have the flex as the typical setting, so by the definition of standard u find it to be, but the name of the 2 WR 3 WR league is standard, and when u do 2 WR and flex is called a flex league.

If you have XM listen to the fantasy football channel. Thats how its universally used on there as well.
