Has anyone ever had a lucid dream before? Just curious.

I've read that you can train your mind to have lucid dreams whenever you want, so I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced that before.

For the record that is not true at all, stress and other health factors can and do cause an inability to dream, during REM sleep.

you are correct in saying most of us do dream without remembering it and seeing as I'm generally in good health without "that" much stress I probably am having dreams that I don't remember, that said it is completely incorrect to suggest that everyone always dreams when they are sleeping.

For the record I can't dream because I can't sleep at night. Welcome to being old. A grand total of one hour last night. (somewhere between 4 and 5 AM)
Plus I'm too worried that my FF team is falling apart.

seemed to me that the president knew exactly what Romney would say at any given point, and welcomed his attacks....

i disagree with you though, this was, though not a blowout, a win for obama. Romney lost alot of "points" with his women's issues....he was pretty much the opposite of sensitive to the question being asked.

and also with his religious comments. He doesn't realize that what HE considers a blanket statement, that a large amount of people don't agree with.

the "it's a sketchy deal" comment was also a huge point. I'd be willing to listen to Romney tax ideas on how to cut the deficit, but without him giving a specific response for the umpteenth time....to me it sounds like both of them are going to be a wash....

was better than the previous debates though. glad i watched =P

seemed to me that the president knew exactly what Romney would say at any given point, and welcomed his attacks...

Seemed to me that he would ignore what Romney said, then go on to say he said something he didn't...or Obama would say what Romney said was a lie and go on to say nothing about how he was going to change away from what he did the last 4 years to get us in this mess we are in right now.

look politicians lie..they all do (except ron paul) so when you catch Romney in a lie...big woop, there is an Obama lie for every Romney lie and vice versa.

but Obama is being a condescending ****, I'm sorry...not EVERYTHING Romney is saying is a lie..(just like not everything Obama is saying is a lie either)

but that's all Obama is doing, all he's doing is attacking Romney...telling everyone he's a liar...guess what so is Obama...so this doesn't do anything for me, what get's me going is actual policy...and Romney seems to be the only one delivering anything on that front.

whether what Romney is saying he wants to do is true or not remains to be seen...but you know what is already proven? MOST of what Obama promised during his presidential campaign and even during his presidency has not come true...so I guess those where lies.

I'd rather try the guy who I'm not "sure" is lying then the one I am SURE is lying due to his track recorded.

Edit: and don't feed me the line of crap that the republicans were blocking everything, the DEMS had the house the senate and the presidency for 2 years...

And imo Romney did great on the economy and made Obama look like a liar when talking energy. I also thought the moderator threw a huge bone to Obama with the Libyan statement. Its not her job to point out the facts, just moderate. Where was she when Obama was lying about the coal industry? Thought she did a horrible job. I really herd nothing from Obama about where to go from here. Same failed policies wont work.

Its going to be a very close election. The overconfidence of nice folks like Matt is misplaced. The enthusiasm gap could be a huge factor.

I just hate the whole thing right now, I know it has to be done, but I hate seeing people I care about and respect refuse to acknowledge that there is "spin" on both sides.

people literally think Romney is some sort of misogynist now because 90% of the media latched onto one comment (binders full of women)

Before this one plenty of people that I care about and who are otherwise intelligent actually "believe" that Romney's out to hurt poor people....that he wants to "steal" your social security and medicare.

the idea that Romney is any of that is so absolutely ridiculous that only an dullard would give it a second thought...that said a large portion of people I know who are otherwise intelligent believe these things....

I hate Election season because it makes me think less of people I generally think the world of.

I want to specify I don't think less of them because they have a differing opinion...that would be stupid/horrible.

Discussion differing opinions is generally the best way to learn about any topic.....no I think less of them because they simply believe everything they are told, they refuse to check to see if what they are being told is even remotely true...and that bothers me...because it's something every person should do....in my opinion.

I wish you were right....but from the conversations I've had with friends and acquaintances I know you are wrong, at least in my area...maybe it's because I'm younger and from a different area...but there are quite a few people that I've talked to about this election who genuinely believe this bull**** and they tell me it's effecting their vote.

like the gun toting conservative women I work with that is choosing to vote for Obama because she's afraid that Romney is against women's rights and is going to send us back to the 50's

this is a 50 year old women working in the electrical engineering field, she is not an idiot....but her choice, to vote for Obama even though she disagrees with him on the vast majority of important issues simply because she's afriad Romney hates women, is an idiotic act.

My second cousin just came out, and shes on this gay rights kick and of course pro Obama. I support her decision 100%, but spare me the "Obama is the only one who cares about gays and minorities." Really? Why it take so long for him to "evolve" and support gay marriage. Why it take so long for him to support the dream act? How come he claims to be for womens rights and his female staff makes 18% less than his male staff? Its not because an elections coming up is, I tell her. And she just refuses to listen. I would respect her opinion much more if she said "You know Reps really havnt done anything for gay rights. Even though hedid itfor reelection, at least its getting something done." And now, like you mentioned with the binders, "Thats all we are to republicans, pieces of meat." To which I quickly shot back " Are you mad he wasnt caught in the act like weiner spitzer, edwards, clinton, shall I keep going?" lol
I try my best but its like talking to a wall. They really think the right is out to suppress them.

I think its a myth that we don't play mobile QB's well. Good players, whether they are mobile or not give a lot of defenses problems.
We are the team that supposedly created the blue print to stopping Michael Vick. Generally, going back to his Atlanta days, we played him as tough or tougher than any other team. We have had good and bad days vs. Romo. We owned Cam Newton and no one has stopped RG111 yet. Even Kapernick, who no one has stopped struggled against us.
Since we generally play cover 2, our DB's are facing the QB which gives us an advantage against mobile QB's. But essentailly, when we play diciplined defense we can contain mobile QB's as well as any.

The issue in my opinion is also our strength against pocket passers, Our D-Line collapses O-lines when they are hitting on all cylinders, Osi/Tuck/JPP they are all crashing down on the QB...the problem is once the QB makes those guys miss we have no contain, we just never have contain I don't know why but we just never ever do, Cam is trying much harder to be a pocket passer this year then he was last year from what I've seen...and he's good at it...but that's what we are good at preventing as a defense...our weakness is our contain.

thats true of any defense. The reality is that most good mobile QB's extend plays and force secondaries to cover longer. If they're good, then defenses are going to have problems with them.
Its not exclusive to us. But generally speaking, we have done well against mobile QB's in Fewell's system. Not so much in Spag's system of press coverage, thats a different matter. In that system, McNabb ate us up.

you have something to give, you could give me Doug Martin or McFadden or Ridley and replace them with Wallace since you are flexing Martin...OR you could take Wallace and Felix Jones...flex Jones and start Wallace over Lloyd

no its not...You think Felix is going to continue to play? of course not. I'm not giving up an RB for a WR.

Looks like you found the absolute downside to our ****ty league format. we are flex, and can only start 2 WRs....why would i NOT keep 3 RBs?

it my situation it comes down to the following: felix is garbage, and an injury risk. Demarco might even practice this week....so why would i trade away a starting RB , and essentially lose a roster spot for the rest of the season?

the better question is why would you keep 3rb's instead of trading one of those 3 RB's for a better WR, of course I know Felix Jones isn't going to start for the rest of the year..he's just candy to sweeten the offer.

you don't HAVE to start 3 RB's ****...and Wallace is better then Martin in my opinion and will be for the rest of the year, also you are starting Llyod who has been god awful.

you can substantially increase the points you will be scoring each week by taking my trade, at least that's the way I see it...and why wouldn't you want to score more points?

who cares whether the points are coming from a RB or a WR you already have 2 solid RB in Ridely and McFadden so you are not losing a roster spot...plus you also have Pierre Thomas as well and he's not terrible he's getting goal line carries instead of Ingram.

I'm just confused because the trade helps you more then it helps me and you are acting like it's crazy, if you don't want to do it that's fine...but not wanting to do it because you have some "need" to have 3 starting RB's is stupid in my opinion, I'd rather have a 15pt receiver in flex then a 8 pt Running back...but the way you are talking it's almost as if you want to score less points just so you can keep 3 running backs....that's your choice I guess.

the better question is why would you keep 3rb's instead of trading one of those 3 RB's for a better WR, of course I know Felix Jones isn't going to start for the rest of the year..he's just candy to sweeten the offer.

I didn't try for Ridley because he's your best back right now from points so I didn't think you'd give him up, and your Extra Chip" would be Felix so you can keep your 3RB setup one or two more weeks if you want and also amazingly increase your WR's situation...after he stops playing you'd obviously want to switch to 3WR and 2RB's after the trade most weeks.

Wallace is a stud, he's a start every week get 10+pts guy...you don't really deserve an extra chip at all in my opinion, I just don't want Felix on my team cause he's a cowboy.

that said I think me and Byron have a deal in the works so now I'm gonna wait for him.

I liked Ron Paul the best as well....unfortunately in my opinion we have two ****ty candidates right now and I have to vote for the one who will cause the least damage, Obama is in my opinion, the worst president this country has ever had (worse then Carter...perhaps there were worse ones 100+ years ago I don't know anything about but that's how it is), so I can't imagine Romney being "that" bad.

Romney basically needs Ohio to win. Would be very difficult otherwise.
The problem for Romney is the electoral map. He could actually win the popular vote by 4 points and lose the election.
And Romney was a fine governor. Mass. has always liked Republican governors. We had 18 straight years with a GOP governor until the moron currently in the Statehouse got elected.
But Mass is a democratic state. The GOP does a poor job here. Its also a small state with a large city, which makes it hard for republicans to get elected.

No. He MUST win VA and Florida to have any chance.
Essentially here's the breakdown. They MUST win Fla, NC and Virginia. Then they have to win Ohio and one other battleground state to win the election.
If they lose Ohio. They must win Nevada, Colorado, and Wisconsin.
He will win VA, NC and FL. He will win Colorado and probably NH. He essentially MUST win Ohio. If not he has to win states that are less likely than Ohio.
What it comes down to is whoever wins Ohio has a 95% chance of winning the election.

That's not true. I don't once recall you showing me a poll, or something, and me blatantly telling you it's biased. I know youre too smart to pull from fox or anything, so chances are I cant even say most things are biased. I can say that PEOPLE are biased.
Or I can say that I dont agree with you on things (clearly we don't see eye to eye on most things political, just sports related lol).

It is EXTREMELY difficult to get ANY unbiased information. Especially online, since it's such a massive resource, without ways of verifying alot of info. (at least i wouldnt know how to). The link that i quoted the romney stat from was from a list of averaged polls(which you last week said is the only semi-accurate way of polling) in that geographic area. since you already know where I found it, I can assume you looked.

My point about MH's sole opinion as a Mass resident not holding alot of weight, was because he's one person. Since I've known MH long enough to at least believe he has no reason to lie about his political views, I respect his POVs(though not always agree). But I'm also not going to argue data.

We can just drop these topics altogether, and to be honest, that'd make me even happier than debating, day in & day out. =p

Not me...I love a good fight. Lets have it out and shake hands after we're done.

But here's the problem with the polls. Most are NOT biased. But they can't calculate the enthusiasm gap. Plus they don't tell the whole story. If an incumbant is at 47%, even if he's up lets say 47-45, he will lose. Undecides always break hugely towards the challenger.
The wild card is Wisconsin. The GOP was done a huge favor with this recall election this year by the Dems. They have a great "get out the vote" organization already in place. If Romney carries Wisconsin, he WILL win the election with or without Ohio. Because he will most certainly carry Colorado and NH if he wins Wisc.

I'm ok still, gas is the real problem, all the stations are out of electric so the pumps aren't running and people are running out of gas for their generators....it's supposed to be cold tonight too I think...

lines are miles long for the gas stations that do have power....

I've had power at work monday-wensday but we lost power for a while today.

Yea, i'm just now hearing that because of issues at the ports, that gas isn't being delivered to alot of other areas. I had no idea the overall supply was being affected.

I'm going to have to fill up again, because they are saying by Sunday, we might be out up here in PK too. Westchester is already forming the mile long lines as of yesterday.

Its taking away from the relief efforts. Do you realize how much police and other services that are required for an undertaking that large? It could be postponed for a week or two.
Either way, it doesn't have anything to do with quitting. Its going to start in Staten Island where there is little or no power. To me, its poorly placed priorities.

I don't know....I dont think I can agree. You can't just cancel everything because it interferes with the relief effort. People need to know that things will get back to normal.

From the other perspective, I could kind of see how people might think we're ignoring the problems.....but..... that's just not what's happening.

Yes, but as far as I know, these are the deals that HAVE to get sent to players, to ensure that if the players sign elsewhere, the yankees get compensated with draft picks.
Swisher, Soriano, and Kuroda were all given these deals. Only Kuroda will likely sign, since it's actually a deal for him. Swisher won't sign, he cant. he wants more than 1 year, and im sure he thinks he's worth more. i'd like to think the yanks consider him gone ( i know I'd like him to be).

We need Soriano. If'were spending $ this year, part of it has to be on him. Mo is hinting at retirement, and I dont trust anyone else to step in as closer but Soriano.

The amount of Steelers fans at the game yesterday was sickening. I can assume they just took advantage of the fact that alot of locals probably were in no position to go maybe so there were an abundance of tickets...?? But either way it was like 60/40 Giants/Steelers fans. or at least damn close.

Huge is a subjective term, has there been a change? yes, but this type of "huge" change has happened many times before on our planet...it's been proven through drill samples of ice.

the question isn't is the climate changing, yes of course it is, it's been doing that for millions of years back and forth, the question is are "WE" the cause of the change.

Yea this week I'm bringing a ton of stuff to a "Fill a truck" thing that a friend set up. Yesterday, my uncle and I brought a box of nonperishable food to the Giants game to donate. I don't have any remaining time off from work in the coming months to really volunteer, so I can only try to do my part through donation =\

how is our electoral system so completely ****ed up? Every other democracy in the world has a better way than us. We let local governments choose how to report votes, what machines to use, and decide on certain exceptions(whether polls stay open for lines etc.)....

Other places have agencies do it. impartial non-govt agencies. they all use the same machines.
