Thats what Dems have never understood. And certainly the GOP politicians in Washington have done a piss poor job of articulating.

The greatness of this country comes from the notion that we have always tapped into the greatness of human beings.
Now we are trying to dehumanize this country with the permeation of the federal government into every aspect of out lives.
The ambition, dreams, innovation, creativity, love, ego, drive, work ethic etc... of individuals is what has made this the most prolific economy in the history of the planet. All because our ethic....the American ethic.....taps into it. It gives the power to the people and not the government.

Now it seems that we are content to hand that power back in order to be taken care of. ....... Its sickening.

Bob Selig or whoever needs to get tough on these peds. All Commissioners do. The right way to do it is to ban the player for the year/season, erase all of their stats, and nullify their contract. When the player comes back he and his team can write a new contract and all stats after being outed will have an asteric next to their names. Its very simple, now do it.

I think all new contracts are going to start involving something about voiding them if it's proved that they took something. i think it may already be in some contracts. the asterisk thing is stupid though. because everything from the past 30 years of the steroid era are already in the books.

I stick to my fairly indifferent stance on the PED discussion. I don't even really like baseball as much as I did as a kid, so...what i didnt know, didnt hurt me. now nobody gives a **** about baseball unless we're talking about ped users, so...how is that at all interesting? I just dont care lol

Here's an interesting tidbit about Ryan Braun.
Ryan Braun's contract extension signed as a result of cheating: $105 Million.
Money lost from suspension: $3.7 Million.
Net gain: $101.3 Million.
I'm sure he learned his lesson.
Point is players will take their chances with cheating, hit them in their wallets and maybe things will change.

They were not preaching what MH is saying, in the slightest. They were *****ing about "1%" of Americans having all the money and having great paying jobs while they slept in parks and complained about not having enough money. They wanted free money or more job benefits. Take a look at the unions in this country to see how well that works out. People pensions are being taken away left and right.

And those same people that were going wild about the NSA when the previous President was in office are now pretty complacent about it like you said. This President has 3 potential scandals hovering over his head and the media looks the other way. Go figure.

It happens in slow and in subtle ways.
If you look at Obamacare. What this law does, (aside from all the job killing) is it mitigates the incentive for innovation in medical technology. When the government assumes more and more of the responsibility, the abilty to make profits from innovation is lessened. Some theink thats good. "There all a bunch of greedy *******s".
But in reality, fewer lives are saved down the road as a product. So we've stuck it to the capitalists, but we've harmed mankind.

There are millions of other examples or what I'm talking about.

Nothing on this planet produces more innovation and effiency than free and open markets. Because it taps into the greatness of human beings.

Insanity burns more calories and body fat since it's more cardio and reps using your body weight as the only resistance. P90X you need equipment and weights. If you want to get bulkier it's probably a better way to go.

I've been doing insanity for a while now. Every day for a few months. Now, a few times a week for the last year or so.

But like anything else, it depends on how hard you push yourself. If you don't push yourself, it won't do much. First time i did Insanity, i puked my guts out.

So you don't think an additional tax on a particular industry mitigates the incentive to innovate in that industry?

That's what they believed in the USSR. How did that work for them. They were in the dark ages until the wall came down.
This (as I said) is economics 101.
And the problem is that with so many other countries going to government sponsored health systems, they rely on the US for innovation.

Another one of the "unintended consequences" with the desire to care for everyone.

The road to despair is littered with the remnants of "good intentions".

Well you mentioned that it wasn't a government agency.
What the Fed is doing (and I know you know this since its your industry) is buying our debt. This is what they mean when we hear "Printing money".
The fed is buying debt to try to keep the economy afloat.
So we have.
1. Hyper low interest rates
2. Printing of hundreds of billions of dollars every year

And still we have a struggling economy growing at around 2% per year, job growth that isn't keeping up with population growth (that requires about 200,000 new jobs every month) and the jobs that are being created are far lower paying than those that have been lost.

To say that this administration has done anything other than a horrific job on the economy is fantasy. The irony is that those who are the Presidents biggest supporters (younger voters) are the ones more directly harmed by his mismanagement.

No. In your example 49 FT and 26 PT, if the FT people were not insured the PT equivalents would put you over the 50 person amount and make you subject to the penalty. If the 49 FT are insured then there is no issue.
The ultimate point is that businesses will have to manipulate their employment rolls, often what would normally be against their interests, in order to avoid the penalties assesed by the federal government.
What this does is lower general productivity in the economy, making American companies (especially small businesses, which are the engine of our growth) less competitive in a global economy.
The long term consequences are slower economic growth and fewer jobs.
Its just one example of many that represent the consequences of Obamacare on the economy.

There aren't many ways to manipulate employment rolls to get around this. There are a couple of ways to get around it if you are in the 50 to 100 range of employees that will not affect employment or productivity. I would think that most companies with a 100 or more employees already offer coverage. The other issue is the Medicare tax tied to this bill. A guy like Romney, this would cost him about 800,000, could well afford this considering the reduced tax rates on dividends and capital gains.

Your best bet is getting a small subscription and setting up auto payments through your checking account. You'll never worry about late payments, you'll have a long credit history, and some nice titty magazines.

exactly. I'm in a spot right now where I can't cancel credit cards i have because I havent had my current ones very long. maybe a handful of years. Based on my current credit karma service, as of July 1st, I'm a 760. If i closed my oldest card i'd drop 12 points. it would only take me a few months to increase that again luckily. but...WHAT IF I WANNA BUY A HOUSE TMRW!!!?!?!?! lmaoYeah, see it damages it slightly for a short amount of time. If you're anal about the score though, put like a $4 Pandora subscription on it (or something relevant to you, Netflix, perhaps) and set up auto-payments.

I don't like AMEX, though. Visa/Mastercard is accepted everywhere where credit cards are a payment method, but every once in a while, you'll come across the place that doesn't take AMEX. That alone deters me from getting AMEX, especially since their rewards programs aren't that awesome either.

Amex isn't awesome? They looked fine to me, how good are the VISA ones? I have a freedom card but it's whatever. All the ones you can get through Barclay offer great rewards programs. They're all basically the same, but Barclay's cards (Visa/MasterCard) offer you intro specials. AMEX makes you buy a boat load the first few months before they give you rewards, e.g., spend $1000 in the first three months and get $100 in statement credit.

Yeah, still lifting, they gonna have to kill me to make me stop, it's a part of me. I am in a summer cutting stage, I tightened the carbs and cut 14 lbs since June 8. I'm ripped Bro, with virtually no size loss, except for 2 belt loops on the waist.

I had back spasms about 3 weeks ago. Me and the little guy were loading his tackle box for vacation and BANG, my right side went crazy with a sharp pain. I suffered for two weeks taking advil and grunting it out. I could of sworn I had disk degeneration or something spinal. I sched a orthopedic appointment for last Wed. Last Monday nite I started researching lower back pain online. Turned out to be the psoas muscle which connects to bottom 4 or 5 vertebrae. I did some stretches Monday nite and was 50% better, then some more stretching Tuesday nite and BOOM I am healed. Self healing, I cancelled the appointment.

You still lifting? You were really lean.

Yeah back in NY closer to my son. He is 8 years old now, he's growing so fast.
That's great about cutting up and still keeping the size. I'm gaining some weight since I have been back, trying to get around 195-200. I'm at 185 right now, still got some more work to do but the weight is slowly gaining. I'm doing more heavy lifting than usual, not over doing because I like to keep my reps high. Today hit biceps and legs hard, feels great =)
That's crazy about your back, some stretching and you're good as new. And you saved yourself a trip to the orthopedic.

Edit. I look 190, so I have been told.

Obamacare isn't going to affect the economy.
It will have a profound effect on the economy.
You have been drinking the Kool-Aid.

Your going going thru the natural progression of lifting. ha. I competed at 181 for 10 years, at my way up to 198, then 217. Now I'm more interested in "the look" at 190 rather than the strength and size. It all depends on what motivates you at the time. It's all good and healthy, so DO IT!

When you increase the cost of doing business (ie...mandating certain insurance requirements for your employees) you decrease competitiveness, decrease profitability and decrease productivity.
This slows economic growth and reduces jobs. The do all that during slow economic times and multiply its adverse effect.

Its Economics 101. Unless you think Adam Smith was a right wing kook.

Its Economics 101. Unless you think Adam Smith was a right wing kook.Don't try and appeal to Adam Smith when talking modern economics. Modern capitalism doesn't resemble Smithian capitalism at all (remember in pure capitalism profit is seen as a bad thing).

Also, think about health care this way: If the poor had accessible health care, they wouldn't need to rely upon emergency health care as their primary source of health care. That in and of itself would drastically lower the cost of health care (including the cost to the public benefit).

How would increasing access to affordable health care lower productivity? Wouldn't having a healthier workforce increase productivity? If it is possible for me to see a doctor at an affordable rate when I first start feeling sick and lose 4 hours of work, doesn't that beat having to wait until I am extremely sick and going to the emergency room and losing 3 days of work? Hmmm.... That looks like 4 hours of lost productivity (plus the lower cost of seeing a PCP) against 24 hours of lost productivity (plus the significantly higher cost of using emergent care services).

A company with 60 employees will not fire 11 people to get under the 50. That would only hurt their productivity and profitability. There are a lot of good things in this bill. The only disappointing thing is that Obama didn't have the balls to stick to his guns and keep the public option in the bill.

This is good, I haven't been around in a while, so I am not biased by reading any previous posts that would give me everyone's clear position...everyone in this country will now have healthcare, including those of us that do not work. I must make the distinction here between those that are unable to work due to a legitimate disability(which is ok) and those who choose not to work so that they can bleed the system and support their belief of entitlement(this is not ok with me). IMO, the group that chooses not to work are the only reason that Obama is in office. Obama has been built on bull**** from the get go, Tell the masses of our country that do not work and receive services for doing nothing that they will be taken care of and receive healthcare if they vote for Obama. Hmmmmm, all of a sudden those masses who have never voted in their life are standing in line to get something for nothing as promised by Obama. It's a disgrace, this country was built on hard work and those who worked hard for themselves and their families and did the right thing all their life will now get screwed. Of course, that is my opinion.

I have not read the entire bill. Please tell me if this is a valid concern? Once this get's rolling our medical system is going to be flooded with millions of people who have never had insurance before. Is a proportionate number of Hospital's, dr's, physicians assist, nurses, admin personnel, diagnostics, employees going to be added to the us health network? If not, how are the additional millions of patients going to receive medical care? How will it effect those with life threatening conditions that cannot wait weeks or months for an appointment, due to what I see as an inevitable back log with our doctors and hospitals?

Is it true that preventative screenings are being eliminated from coverage? Mammograms, prostate exams, colonoscopies.

Am I paranoid in thinking that Obama does not want the us population to live beyond 62 years old aided by early screening detection tests, so that he doesn't have to pay social security? I think I get it, one of those one way systems here........take our taxes and ss from our checks and then kill us off when it's time for the system to pay back.

I hope I'm wrong and none of this will be an issue.

Uninsured Emergency room treatments are entirely different from the type of care that insured people receive. I have yearly physicals and lab work, sometimes lab work 2x per year, diagnostic treatments range from catscans, mri's, xrays, stress tests, occasionally physical therapy.

I am certain that the guy at the emergency room with no insurance is not being scheduled for costly testing like mri's. What insured people go to the ER anyway? Only in an emergency, otherwise, we schedule appointments with our Dr's. We PAY OUR INSURANCE PREMIUMS to have that option.

The uninsured will now flood the patient health pool. There's a difference between going to the emergency room and all of a sudden showing up at MY Dr's office....so now we have to wait longer and we cannot get an emergency appointment for ourselves or our family.

It will increase costs. Making them less competitive. Less competitive companies make less money, hire fewer workers and struggle more to stay in business. I'm a middle class guy who loves Phil Simms and believes that small government is generally best, because it emphasizes the poitential greatness of all human beings. Its not "pro Republican" or "pro Democrat". Its pro ..."the individual".

So your silly overreactions are not constructive and could lead to our not being able to have these discussiuons in the future.

So I would rather not continue this conversation with you.

Oh yeah..........Eli sucks!!!!

in terms of "normal" beer, I usually drink Heineken Light.....I also enjoy trying new craft beers things I've never seen before.

Sam Oktoberfest came out this week, so I'm sure I'll be buying 6-8 cases of that this week to hold me over =]

Jimmy Carter in 1980, Walter Mondale in 1984. Mike Dukkakis in 1988. Bill Clinton in both 1992 and 1996. I now know I'm dealing with a rational person and though I disagree with yor opinion, I respect it. Time will tell who is right. Btw the compliance part has been delayed until 2015, so we won't know for a while.

Enjoy your son at age 8, its a great age. You are upstate NY right? Our youngest is 9 and I think I appreciate it more now that the other are older.

Your going going thru the natural progression of lifting. ha. I competed at 181 for 10 years, at my way up to 198, then 217. Now I'm more interested in "the look" at 190 rather than the strength and size. It all depends on what motivates you at the time. It's all good and healthy, so DO IT!
I'm in Long Island (job transfer) but got a new job that's in Manhattan, so I'm moving to the City. 5 years ago I was 230 (muscle) it was the biggest I have ever been. I was playing semi pro in FL so wanted to gain the weight. After that I wanted to cut up again, so got down to 176. When you gained weight how much carbs/protein were you taking in daily?

You may have noticed that we get to discuss things that are generally not allowed on the Giants MB....like politics.
Thats true because the Mods understand that we all know each other and its just a discussion among buddies.
I am a bit uncomfortable with this discussion with someone I don't know at all. If you knew me face to face like we all do you might know that your accusations of my "extremism" are complete bull****.

Hahahahaha!!!!!!!I'm not overreacting to anything, all I said is that the free market does not in fact exist, which is true. Now, speedman, on the other hand is getting a little wild, lol.

Now that that's been said, I'm not a fan of the current legislation, however, having the populace have access to actual affordable health care is a good thing. I think more needs to be done to bring the actual costs of health care down (this includes such things as costs of med school, malpractice insurance, the poor's reliance on emergency care, etc). Mandating health care doesn't fix the core problems with the health care system.

in terms of "normal" beer, I usually drink Heineken Light.....I also enjoy trying new craft beers things I've never seen before.

Sam Oktoberfest came out this week, so I'm sure I'll be buying 6-8 cases of that this week to hold me over =]Try Brooklyn Monster Ale or Stone Old Guardian. Both are excellent barleywine ales. I wanted to try the Stone Farking Wilson w00tstout, but it sold out at my beer store before I could get some, and they don't think they can get anymore.
