US soccer was looking very bright this last year or two. And now we get a world cup draw of two of the top 5 teams in the world. It would be a huge statement if they make it out of that group

Yea, its going to be rough.

Germany
Portugal
Ghana

They dumped those huge contracts with the LA trade and then went on to win the WS the next year.
Coincidence? I think not.

The Sox understand how its done. The Yanks seem to need to be beaten over the head with another bad contract before they can learn a thing.

Although I was born and raised in the Bronx, I am not a Yankees fan. I just find the idea of fans of the $150MM payroll Red Sox pointing out the profligate ways of another team to be amusing.

Unlike my Mets...........

hehe....when the sox had him, Ellsbury was the favorite player of MH....now that he's a yankee, he's an overpaid injury prone player.
My favorite player is Pedroia and will be until the end of time.
He is the "Phil Simms of baseball" to me.

And BTW...I like Ellsbury just fine. I'm commenting on his value based on his new contract.
I would have been very happy to keep him. But that was way too much money for him. Better to spend it elsewhere in places that we need.

We have a $150MM payroll (much less than it was a few years ago) because we have the best fans in baseball. Fans who fill our ballpark and watch our team play on TV religiously. The Boston market is much smaller than many out there.
Our championships are great gifts to the fans. But the fans provide the team the means to achieve them......... With their unyielding dedication.

Who could ever argue with an unassailable fact like "we have the best fans in baseball". Surely not I.

Sarcasm aside, I thought the WS this year was great because it featured two great baseball towns.

Meyerbud founded the club but I believe Dezz was one of the earliest sign ups.No I just find it hypocritical that the elitest like you are quick to call this a team sport but as soon as the team starts playing poorly, the number one culprit is Eli, or if were talking about how he helped win two superbowls, its always " Oh well the defense was really good" Youre the type of guy that probably thinks the first int was all on Eli. Its annoying, its old and, its played out. And you do the same thing with TC.
Eli, along with the rest of the team, sucked this year. I dont think Eli was the root of the problem like you people do.

Go back through all my (however many) posts. I have never once blamed any player for any loss by himself. Yesterday.. Eli was not to blame at all.
He simply sucked as bad as the rest of the team.
The "The WR's sucked" line makes no sense at all.
Ultimately, the QB, given that position, has more to do with wins and losses than other positions. That's simply a fact. But this was a team loss like they all are.

We are 9th in dropped passes.
Some of the QB's who have had more dropped passes are, Matt Stafford (obviously because he comes from a crappy school), Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

Magically they are somehow salvaging their seasons. Hard to figure with all those inept and disloyal WR's.

Angels, Cubs, and maaaaybe the Jays are the only OTHER teams I could see in the hunt for this guy (in respect to the money needed). I wouldnt be shocked if the Yankees just did it out of necessity, but ya never know.
I also read that Oakland is looking to trade Bret Anderson....prob would be cheap too, considering he hasn't played in awhile. pretty big injury risk there though, idk...

A guy like him needs an OBP of like .380 or so to be effective.
he needs to up his avg about 15 pts or else he's not helping too much

Regarding Eli.

I know I come off like a homer on tagf, but I don't believe I really am. I don't think he's the root of the problem, but he's a huge part of it. The top 4 QBs find ways to win even when their team is in disarray. He's not doing that, in fact, he's making it worse. You can't look past that.

That said, there's so many issues with this team, singling him out is ludicrous. As far as tagf is concerned, I just like fighting with the haters because their arguments are so idiotic. I guess it's the opposite of what Morehead does with the homers. They' re almost the same really; they're like democrats and republicans, different morons of the same stripe.

I agree entirely. He's not playing good football obviously, and I dont think anyone would say he is. It's about the offense as an entire unit just not getting ANYTHING done together. From the o-line to to the WRs, and obviously the QB. Watching the Giants offense currently is like picking up your coffee mug in the AM and having it crumble in your hand and the coffee spills all over the ground. Except in this case, it's the football on the ground(or in an opposing LBs hands lolololol)

Its time to take long hard look at our QB.
There is one starting QB in the NFL with a worse passer rating.....Geno Smith. There are 10 or more backups who have had significant playing time who have better ratings. He has been flat horrible.

If you use the example of Ryan Tannehill....He has a worse O line, worse running game and worse WR's than Eli. He has more yards, more TD's, and many fewer Int's. He is playing significantly better than Eli with far less to work with. He's been sacked 48 times for God's sake. His O line is a nightmare.

Our guy is playing flat awful. The real question is whether this is a trend or an aberration. This started last season. The last half of last year was bad as well. Maybe not this bad...but still bad. The only exception was the Philly game where they never showed up at the stadium in a meaningless game.

At what point are we concerned? At what point do we stop blaming everyone else for this when other, less experienced QB's are doing far more with less?

You all can call me every name in the book...but tell me how I'm wrong about his play.

Josh Gordon's 774 receiving yards in the past four games is an NFL record.

It's an absurd average of 193.5 yards per game and Gordon also has five touchdowns during this tear. Perhaps most impressively, he lit up Aqib Talib for a 7/151/1 line in Foxboro on Sunday despite not catching a pass until there was less than five minutes to play in the second quarter. Gordon leads the NFL in receiving yards (1,400), is tied for 13th in catches (71) and is tied for 11th in touchdowns (8) despite being suspended for the first two games of the season.

Great post. Eli had a bad year, simple as that. The guy has lead us to the promise land twice, so Im not going to kick him when hes down and Im not going to harp on the same thing everyday. I also believe we have bigger problems than Eli, O line for one, and our offensive and defensive playing calling. Id like to see new coordinators on both sides of the ball. I feel like Gilbrides system is high risk, high reward and we havnt been getting rewarded, more like punished. Defense.....you all know how I feel. You have nothing to base your claim that tipped passes are almost always bad throws. Most the tips Iv seen this year were catchable.

And all those 40 td seasons hasnt gotten him a 2nd ring yet. You're jaded, you're spoiled, and you've been even worse since the sox won.

Thats all fine but all teams have WR's who don't catch the ball that "should be caught". Its not unique to Eli.
Cruz is 20th in drops and Nicks is in the 30's or 40's right now. Its not like the Giants WR's are a bunch of stone handed bumblers and every other team has sure handed geniuses.
Our WR's are actually on average better than the average......Far better actually. Do you think Tom Brady would LOVE to have Nicks, Cruz and Randle right now?
He'd be ecstatic.

Its a red herring to suggest that Eli is the victim of his WR's. Should we review the great plays that these WR's have made to turn short gains into huge plays?

Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman are out for a stroll in town one day.
As they walk, they come across a sign: "Beauty contest for the most beautiful woman in the world.
"I’m entering" said Snow White.
After half an hour she comes out and they ask her, "Well, how'd ya do?"
" First Place ," said Snow White.

They continue walking and they see a sign: "Contest for the strongest man in the world."

After half an hour he returns and they ask him, "How did you make out?"

If anything Gardner would have been a break even deal. Gardner is cheap, but he's literally only worth his money since he cant seem to get the OBP to make him a REALLY valuable asset. If he didnt get hurt in 2012, THAT would have been the year for him. he had quite the pace going.

If they ARE going to trade him, it's gonna be for an SP now. That's now a bit more clear to me.
They are still going to try to get Tanaka, no doubt...at that point, the only risk is the money, not other players involved. He's young, so that'd be the better move.

I like Shanny. I read yesterday he maybe trying to get fired. Not smart though if hes looking for another job. Not good for his son either.

Guess who DID sign up for ObamaCare?

Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, and Paul Ryan.....tru.story.bro.
You are just finding this out?
They voted to force all members of Congress to have to sign up on Obamacare. The republicans didn't think it was fair that they get top shelf insurance when their constituants were forced onto the Obamacare exchanges.

They did it BTW over the objections of the Dems.

Theyre going to find out first hand all the problems with it and then use it to their advantage during elections. Watch.

Diamond Eyes and koi are both really good, old school like Adrenaline. I can listen to them and tool all day.

Why?

They wanted the Dem's to have to deal with the crap they made with Obamacare.

This is hard to understand?

No, that part makes sense. It's the part about them giving a **** about their constituents that was completely unbelievable.

gotcha. i didnt have the icy problem unless it was ALSO freezing rain....but how my brother and i did it was I shoveled half the driveway and he salted behind me, and then he shoveled the other half and i salted behind him. that way the accumulation wasnt too bad.

We have the salt at work where if you throw it on the patch of ice, it literally cracks right through it. pretty cool to watch happen.

I don't shovel much of anything anymore but the same goes for plowing if its a big storm I'll plow at least twice....My pickup has its limits of how much it can move..... plowing twice is easier on the truck and the chances of getting stuck are far less....shoveling snow out from up a pickup sucks big time....I hate ****ing snow

In fact last year we had one storm I should have done maybe three times....It was really heavy I did it like mid way through at night ....The next morning with drifting and such there was like a ft of it...I managed but not without damage to the trucks transmission....
