It does fit my argument because the issue clearly isnt guns, its gang violence and poverty. If they werent using guns it would be knives and possibly ieds. You saw what happened in China a month ago?

" NY, MD and CT enacted a ban on sales of AR-15 (and other types of firearms) in response to the December 2012 Sandy Hook Massacre"

This whole war on guns is based off a knee jerk reaction, which is how most rights are taken away.
The blunt objects to guns debate is a joke and I wont even go into it, thats how much of joke I think it is.

Oh no you cant buy an AR in NY anymore, aw rats you'll have to get one at a gun show now. Do people understand it only takes 1 shot to neutralize an intruder???

U know that gun violence doesnt just happen in the inner city right?? How many school shootings happened in the inner city?? Did Trayvon Martin get gunned down in the city?? Is Sandy Hook overwhelmed with poverty or gangs??

Gun violence happens in the inner city, suburbs, and rural areas, its not just gang bangers shooting each others over drugs turf

No i mean the shut down that happened because the GOP wasnt getting their way, so they threatened to shut down the govt, then shut down the govt, admit to shutting down the govt and when the backlash happens they blame the left..... Ah good ol conservative logic

The constitution say we have a right to bear arms but not 90 round mini guns, back then they were talking about muskets that take a few seconds to load up each shot. Then the right says well now our enemies have assault rifles, so why cant we. But where does it stop, 'our enemies have nuclear bombs why cant we' is where its going to end up and then every dumbass will have a nuclear bomb because theyre afraid Obama will come in make every a muslim, keep the white man down, and rip up the constitution while replacing it with sharia law.

I like the NRA's stand that reponsible ownership is key to safely owning guns, but I dont need a 50 round clip, I dont need an automatic weapon, and I dont need the NRA to flood campaign funding. Hell if we limited campaign spending to a set amount say $1mil, then we may be able to get some real fair elections
The constitution is clearly talking of firearms, not weapons of mass destruction. Its a VERY clear amendment. Its also the only amendment which says shall not be infringed, which has to tell you something.
The "right" is correct regarding our enemies having better rifles. The AK is better.
A very slim minority think Bams a Muslim. But he is trampling on the Constitution.

And I know you think it seems far fetched but what if we were invaded? Its a good reason we havnt been since 1812.

C'mon, the shutdown was because the Tea Partiers threw a freaking hissy fit.

Why is it a joke? It shows just how much of an over reaction the left is making about semi automatic rifles.

You keep saying that and its not true. It could take a few rounds to put someone down.

Why do you keep bringing up Trayvon? Hes irrelevant in this.

So because Sandy everyone should just forfeit their 2nd amendment? Thats absurd an so is banning and putting restrictions on the weapon used

How many of those were kicked off their existing plans? You know the ones that Obama said they could keep?
And the point of Obamacare was to insure the uninsured. The CBO says that 35MM will still be uninsured after Obamacare is fully engaged.

What about the 7.1-9.5million that now have coverage??? Do they not count?

You mean the CBO report that was made months ago before people started signing up?? AKA their projection for what would happen with the ACA??

Where does the line get drawn between WMD's and Firearms?? And who's to say it wont change in a few years, like I said before the 2nd amendment was made when we were using single shot muskets and an AR 15 compared to a musket is like a WMD to a firearm. How is he trampling the constitution, he hasnt made 1 amdnement to change it. He tries to limit magazine size and people act like he revoked the 2nd amendment which is lunacy, that isnt infringing on the 2nd amendment at all, you can still have guns. The 2nd amendment didnt give you the right to fully auto assault rifles, it gave the right to bear arms.

A DISGUSTING amount of people think Obama is a Muslim who was born in Kenya

And if Russia or China came over you think a few rednecks with 30 round AR15s are gonna stand a chance against tanks, bombers, full autos, grenades, WMDs, etc???

The CBO report claims that in 2017 there will still be about 30m uninsured, which is roughly half the of the uninsured before ACA. The percentage of insured under ACA grows to over 50% of the pre-ACA numbers if you don't count undocumented workers/

Its a joke because you cant kill 30 people in a minute with a bat. Thats like comparing WMDs to rifles (see what I did there)

If you know what you're doing and have a good shot (meaning you practice) you can take down an intruder with 1 well placed shot

I brought up trayvon martin ONCE because it was a polarizing case of gun violence in the suburbs where the law was taken into someones own hands and an innocent unarmed man was shot. I used that case to show that gun violence isnt all gang related and in the city

Would it have been better if I referenced the case of the unarmed guy who got shot in suburban jacksonville because he was playing loud rap music and that made an old white guy 'threatened for his life'?? I used Trayvon cause everyone knows that case, hell I could have used COUNTLESS others

You obviously are having trouble reading my posts because NOT 1 TIME did I say we should give up our guns, I wanted limits on ability to get a gun, the amount of ammo you can hold in a clip, and just responsible gun ownership and that seems to be too much for people. They want all restrictions lifted and every loon right out of the mental institution with a tinfoil hat can go get a fully auto AR and blast away, because ya know we may get invaded by the British and their muskets

Theres no such thing as "gun violence" There is simply violence.
Things evolve including firearms. "Baring arms" back then meant owning a gun.
The only reason you have for wanting limited ammo is because bad people can kill less good people and its not really a good reason imo. We can argue about this forever. Agree to disagree I guess.

Gun violence = Violence comitted with a gun, didnt think it was too tough to understand

OK so now a days the right to bear arms DOESNT mean owning a gun?? It means owning a fully auto 30 shot clip?? Is that something that Obama did to the constitution (LOL). And yes the reason for wanting less ammo magazines is for the wrong people with bad shots who dont know what theyre doing (most of the time) cant just spray and pray. You do that with 10 or 7 shots you'll most likely miss more than half and by that time a trained gun owner (wether its a cop, security guard, or trained civilian) would have neutralized the threat.

Damn Dez I didnt realize we were so far apart on this issue, we're usually pretty similar

You have been misinformed. The employer based plans are not subject to the new standards yet so no employer based plans were canceled.

So now you're trying to discredit the argument by saying that you dont know how many paid?? Last resort eh??That wasn't exactly true. Essentially, the numbers came out to be that about 4.7m people that bought private plans received cancellation letters because their plans didn't meet the minimum requirements under ACA. Around half of those plans were restored through 2016 and a bunch others were either switched to new plans by their insurance companies or went to the marketplaces to purchase new plans. Roughly 500k people were left uninsured.

You can make the same argument from the other side. The Dem's wanted their way as well. They wouldn't relent on the policy that Obama ended up making anyway.

And the biggest problem, that nobody can see even though its right in front of our eyes, is that we need compromise to get anything done. We'll never get 100% of the people to agree on anything but if we start working together then at least we can get the wheels turning again

Dont you love how the left refer to people who own businesses as "scumbag" millionaires with monocles sipping brandy in a mansion. They demonize success and tell the weak theyre victims.

no...they demonize the money hungry rich who dodge taxes and are in a significantly lower tax bracket% than even myself. The rich stay rich, everyone else has to suffer because they pay the majority of taxes. It makes you a scumbag if you're not doing your part when it's preached that everyone has to do their part in a successful economy.

Interesting debate....all I gotta say is you guys in the states are not even a constitutional republic anymore. The spending by the federal government (by both parties) has been a disgrace. You have a TON of unfunded liabilities in etitlements and national debt that your grandkids will be left with.

The Democratic party are basically a bunch of far left radical socialists these days (JFK was probably the last respectable Dem) and the Republicans have all been frauds since Reagan. G.W spent more than anyone before him, only president to outspend him is Obama. The reason I care is because I really like the US, if you guys are screwed; in a lot of ways, so are we.

Sometimes the best legislation is NOT passing a bill.
This is what the framers envisioned. A deliberative, sometimes contentious, sometimes "grid-locked" legislative process.

Success is not passing bills. Success is being a reasonable and effective steward of our Republic.

And this notion that rich folks don't pay their "fair share" in taxes. According to the Nation Taxpayers Union the richest 1% pay 37% of the taxes in this country.
The richest 5% pay 59% of the taxes.
The bottom 50% pay 2.25% of the taxes.

So when one economic class is essentially responsible for such a high percentage of the taxes, there (for some strange reason) comes all this resentment from the rest that they need to pay even more.

These folks need to take a course in economics.

I think throwing from the pocket is not a strong attribute of his, he got killed last year. He most effective in the passing game when he escapes the pocket and buys time. I think hes very one dimensional though. If he cant find his first read, he scrambles.

Aren't you consolidating debt and reducing it's overall cost? The risk there is that some people then start to feel a wealth effect and fall back into the same bad habits. Particularly since the consolidation likely created mor capacity for new debt.

If even 30% of the people in this country understood debt and leverage I'd be surprised.

What a lot of folks do is open a few new cc accounts since they have more free cash...then get in the same boat again....only worse.

It's something we did when we were young and it took a huge amount of effort to dig out of it.

And you're not creating less debt. You have the same debt. You have just consolidated it into one, and probably at a far lower interest rate...or maybe spread over more years.
but the debt hasn't been reduced by a single dollar. You still owe what you owe.

You still owe what you owe.

lol fine....you win. I've never had more than $300 total worth of CC debt. I HATE using anything other than my own money.

My CC is awesome. gets lots of frequent flyer miles. We charge everything we buy, including food.
BUT...we pay it off in full at the end of the month.

yesssss....I have a credit card I only used when I got it because of a mileage promotion. Spent $1500 within 4 months, paid the balance off each time, and I racked up enough miles to pay for my trip to vegas 2 years ago, and I still have enough points for 1 more flight within the country. However, I dont use that card anymore because there's no promo =P

Well you can get cards that give you miles. Its not a promo. We just switched from Visa (USAir miles) to Amex (Delta miles) because my wife travel's much more on Delta. She's in planes almost every week.

oh yea def....it's just that it's not going to advantage someone like me who doesn't spend a lot on the CC. My card DOES give mileage, but the promo was too good to pass up. I think it was....$1500 gave me 75,000miles which translated to 2 free domestic flights.

Come on MH, no one knows what happened but those two and theres plenty of evidence to support that Nicks was the one at fault.

Even if TC benched Nicks, I'd still likely blame Nicks. He knows how TC is, he was here for 5 years, he knows the rules and broke them anyway.

I thought there was something that came out about how Nicks basically said "meh" when asked if he was going to play in the Dallas game after not practicing that week. The way I interpreted it is that TC was like....fine, your funeral, and the rest is history. basically that Nicks wrote his own history.

Has nothing to do with breaking rules. He should still be a Giant and because of TC he isn't.
TC's time has come and gone. The fact that he wasn't fired (or asked to retire like KG) is disappointing.
TC was PO'd at Nicks for skipping OTA's (which is his right under the CBA) and not trusting the medical staff that ****ed him up in 2012, and he acted like an impetuous child as a product.

You may have noticed that even after Nicks signed with Indy, his comments were completely positive about the Giants, his teammates and coaches. Because that's who Hakeem Nicks is. TC had to lob a parting shot regarding Nicks "productivity not being what it should have been". It was TC that was small and petty, and it was Hakeem Nicks who showed great class and respect.

This is his first losing season in years! How is his time up, do you see all the players from other teams that want to play for him?! Thats garbage.

You don't get it......I've always loved Tom Coughlin. I was hugely disappointed when he turned down the job in 1993 to stay at BC. I was a huge BC and Glenn Foley fan then.
I loved that he was a coach for us in our SB win in 1990.
But what I saw this season was a huge downer.
I can't tell you how down on him I am. It's not because I never liked him. I always liked him. But Hakeem Nicks was a great Giant. Played his *** off for 5 years. Take a look at the TB game in 2012 where they had to pick him up off the ground after every play and he kept making plays. Check out his performance in our SB run in 2011. One of the greatest of any WR in playoff history.
