Did you see that infographic about the case study about the most "lyrical" rappers? it was freaking awesome. They literally counted individual words from entire catalogues of work....and see where rappers fell on the scale. No shock, but Wu-Tang in it's entirely was somewhere in the top 15 or so, where the individuals themselves from Wu were between 20 and #4 or so....

Also, not shocking: Snoop, 2 Pac, Kanye and Wayne were among some of the worst counted. Aesop Rock was the most lyrical by such a monstrous amount that he was literally off the charts, and the creator just put him at the end of the chart to prove a apoint lol

it doesnt work on my work computer, but I think it was this:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2621331/Wu-Tang-Clan-bigger-vocabulary-SHAKESPEARE-Infographic-ranks-rappers-use-English-language.html

if you click the infographic, it gives you more details, and i THINK an interactive chart that shows names and such

Most lyrical? That is some of the worst nonsense ive ever heard.

The amount of unique words means absolutely nothing. It does not matter how many different words you are using but what the content of what you are saying is. Im a songwriter and I could easily go through a dictionary and use as many onscure words as possible and say absolutely nothing that makes any sense. I know this because ive done it before and my lyric writing improved drastically when I grew past that.

Having pac at the bottom of that scale alone invalidates the analysis. Tupac was one of if not the most poinant lyricists. He trancended the genre and is appreciated by people who are not fans of rap because of the content of his lyrics. He was a true poet and you could simply read his lyrics alone.

Im a fan of extreme technical metal and we are probably the harshest critics of lyrical content around. Most are very snobish about it. Tupac is one of the few rappers who can be appreciated across those lines.

To have a vocabulary would definitely put you ahead of the curve in terms of writing pretty much anything you could possibly think of.
Tupac was a story teller....that's another part that makes a great rapper. It's more than just that though.

What does "lyrically gifted" mean?

Using a lot of different words does not mean quality writing. Literature, with the exception of academic writings, is an attempt to tell a good story, something that does not require an arbitrarily large vocabulary. Such a thing can detract from its intention and make a story confusing. There needs to be a balance between simplicity and diversity.

Think of some of the most emotionally impactful music in your life. Do they all have a massive diversity of words? Probably not.

Rap is typically not an emotionally gripping genre. It is enjoyed for its party and dance atmosphere and as a display of speaking skill.

Tupac is one of the most emotionally gripping rappers with a diverse body of work and didnt really on tongue twisting verses. You can argue it takes more skill to have an impact on someone with a simple verse rather than a complicated one.

A good comparison in metal would be the difference between technical and symphonic bands. Technical metal bands are mostly appreciated by musicians for the display of skill but the music is deeply lacking a primal emotional element. Symphonic metal on the other hand is more of a listeners genre which has more appeal to people who dont have a technical grasp of instrumentation.

Perhaps tupac isnt appreciated by a lot of people from a technical aspect by people who rap, but he has a much wider appeal for tapping in to a listeners emotions.

Im saying this from a standpoint of a person who vehemently despises the majority of the genre. It says a lot that tupac can get through to someone like me and a significant portion of the metalheads I know.

Bottom line though, there is no academic way to analyze music. Art is a mysterious thing.

Im not debating rap itself. My point is that literature cant be measured just by vocabulary.

Im speaking just about the words and disregarding the music itself. It would be like defining a painters merit based on his color pallete alone.

Im not trying to say tupac is better than so and so. I just dont think its accurate to say someones lyrics arent good because he doesnt use a lot of different words.

Im just going to be a jerk to people so they leave me alone. A-holes get plenty of peace and quiet.

Can't believe how unenthusiastic he was on that drive... His commentary tarnished that drive but I will admit, "the catch" became more epic in the days (and years) following the SB, during the game it was just a spectacular catch.... if the rest of that drive didn't end up in a TD and we lost no one would've cared about the catch.

As for Burress, that final TD almost brings a tear to my eyes. Goosebumps is an understatement. The entire stadium erupted like a Roman coliseum. I think the whole world was rooting against the Pats in that game.

With all due respect my brother, serious issues like that should be discussed with a therapist, clinician, or clergy member if you're a religious man.

A Giants fan forum is not a place to discuss these serious personal private issues because (1) people here cannot really help the condition as much as they'd love to and (2) its not an appropriate place to discuss those kind of things, people are horsing around and shooting the ****, they don't really want to hear about people's problems and depressing stuff, not to say they're not important, but just the wrong forum for it.

my fam had all the dogs at my brother's house yesterday, something we never usually do because it's a lot to pay attention to--
I have my lab, my brother has Tizzie the pit, and my brother in law has a male pit and also his German Shepard from his CT K9 unit. Also, one of my lady friends had her little yorkie there. Seeing them interact was sooo goddamn funny. The yorkie was super aggressive toward the other dogs, and they would actually run away from her lol.
Meanwhile, my pup Ella, was playing with the shepard, Murphy, despite being 3 times her size, and then the other pit, King, constantly kept trying to hump her lol. All of a sudden, Murphy goes ape****, and starts tackling King, and dragging him off Ella. and then a min would pass, and then King would try to hump her again, and Murphy started to get super protective, and growl at him....and then drag him off her by the scruff of his neck. It was kind of cool. Then Ella and murphy would tumble on the ground some more and ignore King.

POOR KING!! ALL HE WANTED TO DO WAS HUMP A DAMN DOG!! =P

My older sister has a smaller lab and a little hot dog dog. I forget what they call them. They all get along great but sometimes Tucker torments the **** out of the little one. He looks so confused when he tries to hump her cause shes so small.

haha....yea, Ella haaaates it. She will hide next to my mom if it's bothering her, or me if I'm there.....but we've seen once or twice, where she's gotten fed up and will try to bite the other dog.

Ella actually torments Tizzie a lot....but that's because she can play for a lot longer than Tizz can. she's turning 7 so she's oooollllddd and tires quicker these days. So she just cant keep up...But Ella doesn't know that so she will still bounce all around her
