Excerpt: "His team has shown no fight the last two weeks. But quarterba ck Eli Manning expects the Giants to show something more against the Philadelphia Eagles.

While a handful of players seem to have conceded the season, Manning said Monday that the Giants’ faint playoff hopes should motivate them against the Eagles.

“I’ve got great confidence, from just talking to the offensive guys, we’re going to get after it,” he said. “We’re going to compete, we’re going to prepare this week, and we’re going to plan to go out there and play our best.”

The Giants can still make the postseason if they beat the Eagles, the Cowboys lose to or tie the Redskins and the Bears and Vikings both lose. While that’s an unlikely scenario, Manning stressed that it’s very possible in “a crazy sport.

“The worst feeling you could have is if all those teams lose and we don’t handle our business and lose,” he said. “You never know what can happen.”

I'm sorry, but after watching the Giant players do nothing for two weeks while they were in the playoff hunt, to expect them to "play hard" now is a joke. Maybe Eli should have acted like a leader during the last two weeks while the Giants were getting slaughtered and didn't seem to are about it.
