Excerpt: "They had emphasized stopping the run. They harped on cutting down on the big plays they kept allowing. But in the fourth quarter of a 33-14 loss to the Ravens last Sunday, the Giants fell victim to both.

This time, it was Baltimore rookie running back Bernard Pierce who scaled three-quarters of the length of the football field, for the 16th play of 40 or more yards the Giants have given up this season. Good hustle by cornerback Jayron Hosley stopped Pierce just short of the end zone, but coach Tom Coughlin was furious.

"They were running a lead draw late in the game that goes for 78 yards," Coughlin said.

"Thatís our inability to stop a basic football play."

What happened to this defense? The one that came together so marvelously in last yearís Super Bowl XLVI run? Last winter, it seemed like they could stop everyone, and lately, the Giants look more like they canít stop anyone.

With one game to play, the Giants rank 30th in the NFL in terms of yards allowed, a bloated 387.8 per game, better than only the Jaguars and Saints.

They had strong performances earlier in the season, against the 49ers and Packers, but itís hard to credit those when the Giants have been outscored 67-14 the past two weeks, possibly ruining their playoff chances.

"Not up to our standards by any means," safety Antrel Rolle said. "We are not successful in going out and winning games." Read more...

As bad as they where they need to address the offense. The offense was terrible this year.

The Oline has to get some attention, especially on the right side.

I think the offense and defense were having a competition this year, who could play worse.

Right:

""They were running a lead draw late in the game that goes for 78 yards," Coughlin said.

"That’s our inability to stop a basic football play."

Pitiful. With all the money we have tied up in that defense mediocrity would be an insult but sadly also an improvement.

Fewell had a great gamplan in. We forced Flacco to make good throws....and ran basically a 4-4 defense to shut down Ray Rice which is smart. Webster did not come to play....and we had Herzlich and Paysinger involved waaay too much on that 4-4. But you had to run it because the Ravens are a very very physical team.....I would of shredded Fewell if he want the 3 safety look against the Ravens, but he adjusted.

Offensively, we couldnt do anything...either Eli doesnt have time to throw...or Eli underthrows his receivers when they had a step on the defense. The offense is out of sync because they do not spend alot of time practicing due to injuries. If everyone was a warrior like Eli, alot of our problems on offense would be cured. Reese has to bring in durable guys who will work with Eli.

as far as Webster I would be hard pressed to remember a CB who has his man covered so tightly and yet cant seem to knock the ball away or distract the the reciever. Seems like he was right there for every play but couldn't close the deal.....very odd.

Lol I suprised Tuck was in unifrom....It just irks me that he wears that "C" and sits on the bench like that.....Shouldnt he be motivating these guys especially a young Joseph. Joseph looks wore out, he must be thinking " Was Reese serious about Shaun Rogers, Marvin Austin, Ojomo, and Kuhn". Lol Joseph looks like he's losing weight too.

he is definitely no LT! give the C to Bradshaw,he at least tries to motivate, even though his play has suffered!
