That sucks I heard some people saying we could move into 18th based on this game but apparently not.

"Just barely" missing the playoffs sucks for so many reasons... I'd love to have a 10-13th pick

Not many teams miss the playoffs with winning records

Not too bad, we've done pretty well when we pick in this area. 2007, we had that SB class. 2010, we got JPP. 2011, Amukamara. We should be fine.

Anyone care to make a pre combine prediction for our pick? I'll go with Alex Okafor. Ansah would be the ideal choice but I think his stock will see a huge rise with a fantastic combine,

Giants also took Ross in 2007 with the 20th pick.

JPP was 15th though, 4 slots is a huge gap.

Art Monk was the 18th pick in the 1st round in 1980. My point is you can find a hall of fame type player in any spot in the draft.

JPP was 15th though, 4 slots is a huge gap.Not really. If we really felt strongly about a player, moving four slots would probably (I don't feel like checking precedents) cost like a 4th. Granted, we could use all the picks, but still.

Oh, kinda unrelated, but just remembered we traded a fifth for Rivers.

so who do we pick in the first round? I know this was probably discussed before.

last year I didn't see us drafting Wilson, Randle, Hosley so I think most of us were surprised.

I'd say top 4 realistic targets areDE Ezekiel Ansah, DE Alex Okafor,LB Alec Ogletree and CB Johnthan Banks

You think Ansah is realistic?

He would be the ANSAH to our pass rush problems lol.. but I don't think he'll be there

Strongly depends on his combine imo.

I agree....although, can someone tell wich games should I check to see Okafor shine? From what I've seen I wasn't very impressed...
Ansah, I get the whole upside thing....although I think he'll be picked much higher than deserved thanks to JPP......
Ogletree I like & he can easily be a BPA/need, but unless there's not a BPA/DE,DT,CB,Oline there then I don't see it happening....
Banks, seems like there's some decent CBs that'll spill into the 2nd/3rd.so idk if we'd go that route...

I keep hearing about mingo & how he can't be a full time DE....does he have ne 4-3 OLB experience? ...also what's the word on Margus Hunt & where do you think he'll get picked

Okafor beasted in yesterday's Alamo Bowl with 4.5 sacks. Always a huge plus to see a player perform great in a big game.

What's more important a big physical corner that play press coverage or a pass rusher?

I dunno man, I think we need upgrades on the outside much more

I'd hold off on a pick till the d coordinator is finalized. Personally I hope we get a new coordinator and go 3-4.

Well JPP was probably a better prospect coming out and he went 15, so I don't see why Ansah couldn't be there around 20ish

I like Mingo and would have no problem taking him, but I think your selling Okafor and Ansah short as pass rushers. Okafor can beat you with the bull (mingo can't) and the speed rush. Ansah I don't think we've seen his full capabilities as a pass rusher. He played alot of 5tech at BYU, but there were times where he exploded of the line and manhandled the OT 1v1, something I think he could do alot in our defense
