View Full Version : Justin Tuck - stay or go?

I think he should retire.

I'm not going to bash the guy, but I don't see him leading this defense to any resurgence next year.

2 Super Bowl victories, and forever a great Giant.

But whether it's physical, or psychological, I think his glory days are behind him.

Guess he's staying according to Reese. Would have wanted him gone, but we really need to reshape that DE which we should do for next year while Tuck has a little gas in him.

What has he done to prove he's going to change?

He's going to stay. Reese all but confirmed it in his live presser which just ended by saying that he "expects Tuck to return and be the Justin Tuck we all expect from him".

If tuck stays he better be sitting on the damn bench.

Hes still a good run defender. Giants just need to find some young capable pass rushers.

With this extra time off the team will have maybe he can rehab his shoulder. Some shoulder injuries take a year to fully heal. As a professional football player he has never had the luxury, not will he ever as long as he is playing, to have a year of rehab. However, not being in the playoffs gives him a little extra time.

Has he ever gotten off season surgery on his shoulder? I don't remember hearing anything and it is a constant problem for him.

They need to reduce his snaps, I think. Doesn't seem like his body can hold up any more.

Tuck: "I’ll be very frank and honest in saying this: I plan on being here a very long time. And that’s pretty much all I have to say." #nyg (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23nyg&src=hash)

Personally, I am not ready to give up on Tuck yet. Considering that everyone on the line had a down year, including JPP, I am not certain that the problem is Tucks ability.

He has 1 year left on his contract. He can still contribute but his pass rushing snaps need to be sliced

I am in the "He is more banged up than we know" camp. He was once a dominate player, I am not going to question a mans heart.

I can't give up on him .... There is value in leadership and he is that

but if his game has lost a step, team comes first and if he can't hack it, cut his reps or let him go

If he's staying, than demand he go see doctors, specialists, you name it. If there is something wrong, now is the time to get surgery..whatever it is that is needed.

actually im a fan of Tucks and happy he may come back for another season; however he should not be a starter!

he is certainly not the player he once was but can be a great deal of help with younger d-linemen!

he should be useful in some aspect for at least 1 more year.

Reese all but confirmed it in his live presser which just ended by saying that he "expects Tuck to return and be the Justin Tuck we all expect from him".At half the price, he MIGHT be worth it as a backup in the rotation (love the guy)..........but we need consistently fierce people as our starters on the DL.

Come on man Cruz will be back with the Giants.

I just don't see his desire to play any more. It seems like he burns out about half way through the season, hmmmm that sounds familiar. I think somebody has to have a heart to heart with him and make sure he's playing because he wants to, not for the money. If he's lost his desire to play, he should retire.

Come on man Cruz will be back with the Giants.in his interview Reese said the negotiations regarding the extension with cruz didn't work out, but there's still a long offseason.

I hope Cruz remembers who gave him the chance. Without the Giants, this guy would not be in the NFL right now, period. He's a very famous young man right now because the Giants gave him a chance. And as we've seen when Ncks was hurt, Victor could drop right off the radar on a bad team. The Giants and Eli are the ones who brought him to the top, and he would be well advised to be very flexible in negotiating with the Giants.

I think that he needs to address any injury issues that he has. I think that shoulder is still bad. Also if you upgrade the LB core you can move Kiwi back to DE and have a better rotation so tuck could play less downs.
