I know a lot of people wanted Spags back so is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Frustration.

Until there is a vacancy on the Giant's coaching staff this is an unfortunately futile discussion.

So why is Spags the answer for DC?

I'm not sure I'd want Spags back. I think his growth as a DC got majorly stunted by taking the HC gig with the Rams.

Coughlin said the other day Fewell will be back..

Spagnuolo benefitted from having Strahan and Tuck and Osi in their prime.....he's proven through two different jobs since leaving the Giants that he was grossly overrated as a defensive genius. Anybody could have looked smart having Strahan, Osi and Tuck tearing up the field. Spags is no genius and not the answer here.

Spags has done zero good since leaving the Giants, why does anyone want him back?

His contract was extended through 2013.

Just what I said dude...Spagnuolo wasn't as good as everyone thought, he was just blessed with having the personnel on Defense with the Giants that made him look smarter than he actually is! What don't you understand about that? You need me to use smaller words?

The discussion is rather moot, since Fewell was extended at the end of last season. Personally, I'd rather see an attacking defense, like the one Spagnuolo ran. So what if Spags hasn't been great as a HC? So what if he hasn't done well in NO as a DC for one year? NO was in disarray, particularly on defense, due to bounty gate.

Spags was good when he was here. The Giants D was fearsome when he was here. And it wasn't due solely to talent on the field. Spags learned under J. Johnson, one of the best in the business. Spags proved he was good at adjusting to the way an offense was playing vs. his D. There is no reason he can't do it again given the talent to do so.

For me, it doesn't have to be Spags, but a return to an attacking defense. Give me that and I will be a happy fan.
