LaRon Landry says he will not return to the Jets. He wants a long term deal. With Kenny Phillips status up in the air whether he will return or not and after Landry's great season with the Jets. Would you want Reese to bring him in for a look and can we afford him?

No way we can afford him but he is a solid safety. Would love to have him but not happening unless we cut Rolle and let KP go.

I think if Osi, Webster and Kenny Phillips all leave and depending on Cruz's deal. I think he could be affordable. also he wouldn't have to move.

Redskins didn't bring him back because he was often out of position and has a rep as dirty player.

We don't need an upgrade at safety.

How do you define great season? PFF has a negative grade on him and ranks him 65 out of 88 safeties this past year.

People automatically assume if a player makes some big hits and picks off some passes they are a good player. Landry is not very good and tends to be out of position often.

Landry is sucks and is now slow because of all the extra weight he put on, no thanks

I can still see Jacobs steamrolling him when he was a Redskin.

Trading one injury prone guy for another. I'd prefer to give KP a chance to prove he can stay healthy.

Nooooo to Laundry. He's too concerned with trying to take heads off of people which will not fly in the league anymore - sign him only if you want penalties.

I think that if we bring back at least 3 out of 4 among KP, Stevie, Rolle, and Hill, we won't need to upgrade at the safety position really...

I think Landy would be perfect as the 3rd, in the box safety/LB hybrid,Have you seen how built that Mofo is!?

We already have that with fewer penalties in Rolle... and as overpaid as Rolle is, he's still cheaper than what Laundry would want...

Either that's steroids, or he has extra terresterial DNA...Eitherway, I think he got too big to be a safety, its made him stiff in coverage...The guy sure can hit though

Someone mentioned this to me the other day and I almost threw up. The guy is not a quality safety.

And his open field tackling needs some work:

I think our safety position is looking the best I've seen it in years. KP, Rolle, Brown and Hill plus Sash, I think we have more pressing needs...

PFF disagrees with you. They don't just watch a couple games. They watch every play of every game and Landry's grade at the end of the year was negative.

Could this also be a reason why Cruz drop passes?

Cruz made a first down...

In this day and age of the "defenseless receiver", big hitting safeties have MUCH less value.

He also had more missed tackles (13) than any safety on our roster.

He also had more missed tackles (13) than any safety on our roster.Well we won't have to worry about him because he isn't coming here. But that's a fair point you bring up.

All I'm saying is the guy is still very productive and a starting caliber safety in this league. When people show Jacobs trucking him back in '07 when he was trucking anyone and making it seem like he's soft, that's silly. There is also a clip of Jacobs plowing through Urlacher, is he soft too?

I think the guy who's going to be a top notch safety is already on our team, and there's no reason to spend huge free agent bucks for somebody like Landry. In my opinion, Will Hill is going to be a stellar player and I don't think they're going to be able to sit him much longer. The guy just has too much talent to not be on the field a whole lot more. I think if either Phillips or Brown asks for too much money, the Giants will pass on them. With Philips' constant nicks and dings that limit his participation, they might think twice about paying him big money. When he's there and healthy, he's very good; but he misses a lot of games. Hill's suspension really didn't put him in a position to get in the starting line-up this year; but if he stays clean, and out of trouble this off season, he could do a lot next year.
