Anyone think Thomas can return and be effective? I know Jerry Reese said he'd return possiblely as a safety. Is that a sign that KP won't be back? Thoughts?

I'm sure they'll invite him back, but I'd be shocked if he made any significant contribution.

I would have to say No. It's harder to give playing time to the younger and new players and to move on if you keep injury-prone vets. The more important reason is that he is the full fledged example of the term "injury-prone". He hasn't played a regular season game since 2010 due to re-occuring knee ligament injuries and he demanded Reese to pay him like a good CB. Reese did a good job in structuring his contract to account for him blew out his knee again, which he did. T2 earned a cool $1 million signing bonus this season, having done nothing for the second year in a row, while poor Victor Cruz is playing for less than that. T2's cap hit is going to be in the several $millions for the coming years. There's just no way the Giants can continue to carry his contract with 0 productivity. Good-bye T2 and thanks!

If they do invite him back..I'll be amazed if he makes it past training camp...even more so if he lives through preseason

What is his contract status? I know the Giants took this into consideration in his last contract...
Think he'd sign back with the Giants if they cut him? Is he looking at playing for the Vet min?

. I did hear JR said they might look at him as a safety though. Two knee injuries? Time to "cut bait."

Three knee injuries and the Giants structured his contract so they can bail out after the third.

The Giants will almost certaintly bail out on the current contract now. The restructuring option is looking too bleek.

How can they rely on him going into next season?

i woulda loved having a healthy t2 this year, dunno how we can set ourselves up to be in this kind of situation again. if he wants to take vet min. and be depth, sure. otherwise theres no way we can rely on him.

He was bad before his first injury, can't imagine him getting better after 2.

He was a great corner, but it's not looking like his knee can hold up

+1. people think because he had a lot of tackles he was a good player. He got beat deep all the time and never high points the ball. Yes he was a good open field tackler, but that comes after he gives up the completion

/13/2012: Signed a four-year, $17.4 million contract. The deal contains $11 million guaranteed, including a $1 million signing bonus. Another $11 million is available through incentives based on playing time and interceptions. 2013: $750,000 (+ $6 million option bonus + $1.5 million roster bonus), 2014: $3.8 million, 2015: $4.75 million, 2016: Free Agent

I doubt they are gonna want to pay him the 6mil option....

I don't see him taking another snap as a Giant. Remember how bad Marvin Austin was after being out of football for 2 years?

great guy but we already put all of our eggs in that basket and we lost if we kept ross which is not great but at least would have showed up i think it would have worked out better we sighned T2 cause he came cheap cause of the injury .

THIS IS OUR YEAR!!! We play division games of course, and then @Carolina, @ Kansas City, @ San Diego, @Chicago, @ Detroit, HOST: Oakland, Denver, Seattle, Green Bay, and Minnesota. Not in that order, but I'm looking forward to next season anyways. Besides, what else can a Giants fan do right now, right?

I just don't think he can handle it out there, he didn't even make it through preseason! CB will have to be an area we look to FA or a very high draft pick.

What do the Giants have to lose by bringing him to camp absolutely nothing

People were saying the same thing about Hixon before last training camp. Thomas will have had plenty of time to rehab and prepare for the upcoming season. These doctors nowadays are no joke. He's still young and it's not out the question he can make a recovery.

Honestly, I'd rather the Giants take a chance on him them have to turn back to guys like Justin Tryon or Terrance Frederick.

"The only way would be if they cut him and then re-sign him for the vet minimum. Then bring him in to camp and give him a shot to be the last CB on the depth chart. Bringing him in to be a starter or the #3 this year was a big mistake by JR. And it showed right away in the Cowboy opener when our depth was terrible at CB.

They need to keep the training room as full as possible, so he could be a big addition there

Welcome him to training camp, bid him farewell before the season starts. Hasn't played in 2 years. In those 2 years his knee has basically been reconstructed twice.

If we would've kept Ross, we'd still be wondering if Prince can play.

it would have bin the same if t2 came back healthy and we used all our corners any way so i think they would have seen what they needed to with prince.

This.

Thomas is a low risk, high reward player. IMO he gets an automatic invite to training camp since this is a possibility (Although small) that he would be an instant upgrade to what we have now.

He needs to be invited to camp. The Giants have way too many holes to fill in the draft and have practically no cap space. If healthy, Thomas is an instant upgrade and will be cheap.
