Excerpt: "The New York (http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york/) Jets were a circus in 2012; a downright fiasco. From the issues with backup quarterback Tim Tebow (http://www.giants101.com/tag/tim-tebow/) to the recent hilarity of Rex Ryan (http://www.giants101.com/tag/rex-ryan/)'s revealing tattoo, Gang Green has returned to the laughing stock it once was. However, accepting responsibility is rarely a part of their makeup, and linebacker Bart Scott (http://www.giants101.com/tag/bart-scott/) claims their public image is based solely on slanted media coverage in New York (http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york/), where the New York Giants (http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york-giants/) are put on a pedestal, while the Jets are intentionally made to look bad.

"I didnít like the personal attacks. A quick example now is the media following Rex down to the Bahamas. I mean, who does that?" Scott said on Inside the NFL (http://www.giants101.com/tag/nfl/). "I canít imagine them going out and catching [Giants head coach] Tom Coughlin (http://www.giants101.com/tag/tom-coughlin/) laid outÖand following him. We are in the same town but we are covered differently [than the Giants]."

The reality is the media wouldn't stakeout Tom Coughlin (http://www.giants101.com/tag/tom-coughlin/) because he and his family do not deliberately put a bullseye on their back. He doesn't make outlandish comments or guarantees, is heavily involved in charity and is one of the most well-respected men around the league. He and his team do not boycott the media, as Bart Scott (http://www.giants101.com/tag/bart-scott/) often insists his teammates do, and the Giants do not belittle their fans when they leave the field. Moreover, the Giants organization creates and maintains tremendous relationships with its players, and would never throw one of them under the bus as the Jets did with Tebow this season." but we are better. for the media to not treat us better solely bc we are better would be some sort of discrimination lol...the jets. only could the jets produce a situation where a player that is clearly not wanted there, but cannot be released bc of the massive cap penalty that would occur, is taking pot shots at a team for being better. lmfao. remember when a ton of ppl were saying how great rex is as a HC and how we need him and players love him etc etc lol

It's not because we are a better team. It's because we do not run a circus. And we don't have coaches and players that are quote *****s dishing out gems all the time. There are no juicy stories that sell newspapers surrounding the Giants.. It really has nothing to do with the quality of play.

These guys crack me up. They constantly shoot their mouths off looking for attention. Then they get mad when they get it. They know they won't get it from performance, (other than laughter at their incompetence). They don't like the heat they are getting from the media, so this guy goes and throws another log on the fire. HAHAHA what a farce. They Giants don't just sign athletes. They sign MEN. Quality people. We rarely have the drama other teams do. It makes me proud to be a Giant Fan. The little things, even down to the fact 99% of the time our guys toss the ball to the ref or ballboy. Just class all the way.

The first thing I thought of when I read this was Eli saying " I was trying to get David (Carr) to take off his shirt, see if we can get some attention."

Jets stir the pot all offseason and when it blows up in their face, they whine. It really is comical.

This is hillarious. I thought attention was all that they wanted? Even though he used the word "differently" vice "better" in the article, he still shouldn't say much about this because that is the culture that their upper management created.

That doesn't matter. The HC is in charge of his coaching staff (at least most of the time).

It's more ludicrous that they're forcing a coach on a potential GM. That could be a big reason why they haven't been able to find one yet. I'm sure there's not many guys out there that want Rex as their HC.

ROFLOL. Read this earlier this moring in the paper and I nearly spit my coffee.

Actually, Mr. Scott should pay attention to a class organization. I've actually been threatening to write a letter to Mr. Mara and Mr. Tisch to commend them on inviting the family and friends from SHES disaster. That's what classy organizations do, not the s&%t the Jets throw out there.

I recall the media leading the charge to have Coughlin fired. He responded by staying classy and winning 2 Super Bowls.....the media have no choice but to respect him now, because he's won over the players and the fans.

In contrast, Scott has a big mouth, no class, and a selective memory.

But I agree, the Giants are treated with more respect. And if the Jets, from the top down, wasn't such a cartoon, I'm sure the Jets would get respect, too.

+1,000. I never liked Scott. Personally, I think Ryan's a pretty good coach (and a very good DC), but yes, he made this circus. The media would never follow TC down to Bermuda because he's not a circus unto himself like Rex is, and like the Jets as an organization are.

I do think that the media went WAY overboard in following Ryan down to Bermuda. That wasn't right, but no need for Scott to bring TC and the Giants into it.

This pretty much sums it up.

They want the attention and now are mad they have it? The whole team is a joke in the NFL. From Cromartie's extended family to the coach and his fetish. Tebow was just icing on the cake. It will be a long time before the Jets will be considered anything other than comic relief, and that will not begin until after Rex Ryan and a huge roster rehash.

On the other side you have an organization that keeps things close to the vest, rarely has a player that speaks out to the media and usually has everything planned out. Plus a team that will keep a player on the roster long enough, even though they know they are going to cut them, for them to receive a roster bonus.

It starts at the top of organizations. If Woody and Rex can't manage to plain speak, their players have no role models to follow so they sound just as insane as Woody and Rex.

Remember when Rex didn't know Holmes was taken out of a game? Can you imagine TC not knowing?

Because for the Jets, that is success. Don't forget this is a franchise that has suffered some of the worst tragic indignities in all of sports. This year's Butt Fumble is just the latest chapter.

Coming two wins short of a championship two years in a row is chest-thumping material in Florham Park.

You can't hold teams responsible for what we fans do at games. This is a conversation about the organizations, not the fans. Your point about the media and "fire" TC is exactly the issue. The Giants aren't treated any differently, they just don't feed the monkey like the Jests do

That's true the two organizations are worlds apart in terms of class. That's probably the reason why Peyton stayed in school instead of getting picked by the Jets. I don't know what happened in the last two seasons for them, but the Jets were competitive before that. They kept undermining Sanchez for one, and he seemed to be fragile and sensitive, and was quickly losing his confidence. The Giants never treated Eli Manning like that, though the media and the fans did, and even his former teammate.

You can't help but to laugh at the Jets, they are a joke and will remain a joke until Rex is gone. Scott has sucked ever since hes been on the Jets, not surprising since everything Rex touches turns to ****.

http://www.giants101.com/2013/01/17/bart-scott-claims-media-treats-new-york-giants-better-than-new-york-jets/

Moreover, the Giants organization creates and maintains tremendous relationships with its players, and would never throw one of them under the bus as the Jets did with Tebow this season." I dunno, I find Rex amusing actually. He could have handled things better certainly, but he did take the Jets to a couple of AFC championships and they were entertaining esp. with their rivalry with the Patriots and actually beating them in the playoffs...until all hell broke loose in 2011.

You reap what you sow. I gotta say though I remember that one incident when Giants fans threw snowballs at the players when they sucked sometime in the 90s. I'm not sure I'd like to be self-righteous here. In both 2007 and 2011, both the media and the fans were calling for Tom Coughlin's head. How quickly we forget. :)

I was at that game. Most embarassed I've ever been. It was the last game of a losing season, a lot of people gave their tickets away so a lot of people who didn't normally go to games were in the stands. On top of that the Meadowlands people didn't clear the snow out. No excuse, the behavior was terrible.

The Giants don't provide fodder. That's why.

I think Bart Scott is just in deep soliloquy.
