I'm starting to think maybe he is.

Eh, hard to tell. Here is a guy that was suspended his last year of college. Then he shows up to the combine and lights it up. There where good things being said about him in camp that year and then he tore his pec. So then he lost two full seasons of football. Then last summer he was injured again and he just looked tired when he did play. Lets see hat happens if he can enter camp healthy and stay that way. If he does and doesn't produce maybe he just doesn't have it or all the time off was just to much.

Bust. gets paid for doing nothing. He's always injured. plays a game or two and then there's another injury. he's not even that good when he's on the field.

He was relatively healthy this season. But it was ovbious that he was not showing the coaches anything for not being on the active roster most of the year.
It's now or never this season for Austin...

It's now or never this season for Austin...I think Markus Kuhn is good, hope he stays healthy this year.

Oh I have not forgot about that, it's inexcusable to come into OTA's out of shape.

Oh I have not forgot about that, it's inexcusable to come into OTA's out of shape.he was dealing with back issues too esp at training camp and those twin size beds...cant really be trying to get all pumped up when ur tryig to rest ur back...dont get me wrong, i didnt like it either. just saying it wasnt as if he came in out of shape as a way to say F U or something to the nyg

He isn't a bust yet...but if he comes into training camp again looking like fat Albert than he might me. He will need to have a good camp and pre-season or he's a goner

i dont know if hes considered a bust yet! this is his 3rd year coming up so we will be in a better position after that.

hes been hampered by injuries so he really hasnt had much of a chance to show potential.

I haven't seen much of him this past season to say that he is bust.

It's starting to look that way. He's definitely going to need to do something this year to not be.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He's had long enough to get himself into shape, he's had this whole season to learn the playbook/play against other NFL players. He's either hungry or he's not. The kid is undoubtly talented. The only thing that will stop him is himself. We will see, but if he doesn't get it together this season, I dont expect he ever will.

this season will answer that question.

I think that is part of the equation. The scales are definitely tipping in the bust direction. He has to show up strong and play like a monster or he may find himself looking for another team.

Think he's is leaning in the direction bust/lazy category. If his back is an issue (Likely due to poor prep for camp) he may be done; if he can get himself back into shape then he could have potential

Has Reese ever cut a 2nd round pick?

Has Reese ever cut a 2nd round pick? I think he could very well be the 1st. I heard rumors they almost cut him last offseason.

Shame ... and I was always surprised that Reese took that big of a chance on an off-the-field issues guy that early. He usually has one per draft, but that's usually a 3rd round or later pick.

The fact that he spent his whole last season in college "off_the_field".

Yes.Hardly a character issue and not what they consider and off the field issue. Especially when he left college.

Not that it's a big deal but they did cut Clint Sintim (2nd round)

Technically he wasn't cut ... he was waived / injury settled after this ACLs.

The official reason being that he didn't pass the team physical.

Is he a bust? Most likely, but I'm willing to at least give him one more training camp to show something. The guy hadn't played football in 2 years, and only has 1 year of on-the-field NFL experience under his belt. Considering his potential, I'd give him a little more time.

are u kidding? taking money from an agent and accepting free trips to Miami and getting suspended his entire senior season is not an off the field issue?

I chalk him up as a lost cause and don't even consider him 'real' depth. He always has a great camp or preseason then gets some horrible season ending injury, he's like T2 without the onfield success as little as the sample may be

Every year we roll the dice with several of these project players. Some work out (like I hope we are seeing with Will Hill) others don't work out like seems to be the case with Austin. It is just business.

Buddy333

Austin was suspended for issues with the NCAA. He has not done anything that would make him a threat to be an off the field issue in the pros.

We usually only have one a year of these types but usually they are lower down in the draft (e.g. Bradshaw, Hosley, etc ...).

I wouldn't say bust yet. I think we have to give this kid some more time to get used to the pro game. Not everyone is Ndamukong Suh and starts playing at an elite level right out of the gate. Look at a guy like Mcoy His first two years were mediocre and riddled with injury this year he made the pro bowl... Sometimes it takes some time for things to click with some guys. If he really is lazy and and doesn't put in the work he will be gone the Coughlin is not going to tolerate that.
