Watching the combine right now and not that I want either of these guys but man can they fly. Both ran 4.25 40's. Very impressive straight line speed.

Old track where Chris Johnson ran both those guys would be sub 4.2.

really.. What was the old Track like?

Was just older and beaten down. More like running on a thick carpet. Get perfect traction

I don't care what anyone says. I think this electronic timing is off some, as could be the hand timing. But I honestly think that Chris Johnson's time may not be a true 4.24. He can fly, yes, but there have been quite a few athletes that have run very good 40 times since then. I think there are a few that could hang with or even beat CJ in a 40 on any surface outside the combine.

Slip, I understand what you are saying in comparing the 2 surfaces between the RCA dome and Lucas Oil stadium, but I still think the timing issues are flawed to an extent.

As I was saying, the surface combined with a really fast player = record time.

There are other players in the league that probably would run as fast or possibly faster than CJ, but none of them ran on the old surface that he did.

CJ ran the last year on the old surface, in 2008 I think it was.

But its the same reason the old times like Bo running a 4.2, Sanders running in the 4.2s, all those are somewhat questionable, because they were on different surfaces.

Both are incredible athletes. Austin has proven to be a good all around football player....Goodwin has proven to be fast and a good jumper. Austin looks to have both speed and burst. Well at least at the college ranks.

These "official times" are garbage. Simul-cam showed them both being almost equal yet Austin gets an "official" 4.34 and Goodwin gets a 4.27.

Same thing happened to Taylor Mays. Destroyed everyone in the simulcam with an unofficial 4.2 and gets a 4.4

Judging by the simulcast Austin looked a lot closer to Goodwin than McCalebb and they both got 4.34's. I think Austin might of got hosed on his time.
