The New York Giants have inquired about free-agent LB Justin Durant (Lions).

Don't see many lions games but he has pretty good stats.

Decent guy ... always seems nicked up (misses a few games every year).

Not a notable upgrade over Chase but he has more range (has played all of the LBer spots).

He wouldn't overly excite me other than a changing of the guard.

Feels like a JR kind of FA, a little under the radar, not a big splashy move. We'll see.

Even if we sign him we still wouldn't have a decent LB on the roster lol

Lmao his response to the Chick-Fil-A/Homosexual issue: "I would still eat Chick-Fil-A if they supported slavery; Chicken too tasty." LMFAO!!!

Yeh this does look like the typical Reese FA. Very possible.

Something like that is just hilarious. People that get offended by things like that don't deserve to have opinions.

From Rotoworld. This is the signing I want us to make. Move Kiwi back to DE and scratch that off the main priority list for the draft:

The Newark Star-Ledger reports the Giants have expressed interest in free agent LB Justin Durant.
New York is intent on overhauling its linebacker corps. In addition to Durant, they've shown interest in free agents Rey Maualuga and Jasper Brinkley. Durant played strong-side 'backer in Detroit for the past two seasons. If signed, Mathias Kiwanuka could move back down to defensive end.

I'm fine with Durant being signed, but prefer James Anderson ....

Wait, isn't he the linebacker with multiple ACL injuries? Or am I confusing him for someone else?

Wait, isn't he the linebacker with multiple ACL injuries? Or am I confusing him for someone else?I think you are thinking of the other Carolina linebacker---Thomas Davis? 3 ACL surgeries.

Durant might be ok though. I think he is about 27, turn 28 as the season is getting started. The Giants re-signed Rivers who has played outside mostly. Maybe the Giants let Rivers compete at Mike. So maybe Durant comes in as the Sam if Kiwi is going to get most of his reps at DE now that Osi is gone

No, please no, don't want The Giants to think that what we have now + Durant is acceptable. Don't sign anybody and just draft somebody NOT in the 4th or 5th round and proclaim him to be a "SLEEPER" and have "POTENTIAL" only to be cut in a year or two. Please.

How about signing Durant and also drafting a LB? That would be even better.

Yes, but usually when The Giants sign a free agent in a certain position they think they're done for the year, especially the LB position.

Seems like scraping the bottom of the barrel to me. We haven't had an impact LB since Jessie Armstead.
