I know that Eli has a huge contract, but it doesn't seem like we really have many other guys signed to big deals. I am lost on why we are in such cap trouble. Any answers???

I'm not trying to be smart, but the answer is players' salaries. Some seem to think the CAP is meant to be a savings account when, in fact, it's a checking account that gets reloaded every year. When contracts are entered into the player is not being "overpaid." The player is getting what the market value says he's worth with variations for proven past performance and potential. You can't always be right because things like injuries occur that alter player performance.

What you strive for is to be right more than not and Reese, so far, has done a pretty good job of that.

Roanoke answered what the cap room is.

The real answer is Eli and a few other players.

Rolle and Diehl? Which Diehl is a waste of space, and Rolle just needs a pay-cut.

One of the "consequences" of winning Super Bowls

Were the patriots bad after those consecutive SBs?

Patriots do things like trading Seymour and cutting players to avoid paying them

Yep. Eli is a "must keep" though.

And that's a bad thing?

Yep. Eli is a "must keep" though.

Hence why I left him out of my evaluations. Diehl and Rolle are the only troublesome contracts to me.

It's tied up in a basement somewhere in Albany. Efforts to locate it have so far been unsuccessful.

Why is that disturbing? He restructured at the team's request last September.

Yes we have 47 million tied up into 4 players what also people forget is we have 6.7 million in DEAD MONEY. Money we lost that was guaranteed to players that have been let go or left. So what is one other reason we are in CAP hell. If you want to look at the numbers yourself check out this website.
