IMOVHO -- Osi and Cruz will be in Blue next season. No one is really salivating over either one of them at this point in the FA Market. Osi although not "OLD" as a person he is "OLD" as a Defensive End. He at this point in his career is more or less a situational player and specializes in Rushing the Passer. He has lost a few steps over the years and I think he will realize that the Giants offer is the best for his career and his longevity as a player in the NFL. He can aso step up if needed if his counterpart is injured for a few weeks and fill the starting position. He cant do it for 16 games though. (Age)

Cruz although a very rare talent as far as Slot Recievers go can play on the outside and can be effective. He is just plain lights out in the Slot though. I dont really see any team at this point in time giving up a 1st round pick and also pay him 10 - 11 million a year The timing isnt good as far as the cap goes and its not getting any better next season. He will sign with the NYG at least his tender then work on a LTC and have it done before the Pre Season is done

peace

Osi wants to be a starter and wants starter money, he said he doesn't want to be a backup.

As for Cruz I hope we sign him for long term. I think it will get done before the regular season.

I know Osi want to be a starter and wants starter money. Teams dont look at him that wasy anymore. So what he wants and what he gets are 2 different things

Cruz is a forgone conclusion. He's a Giant next year.
There is no chance we'll see Osi in blue however. 0.0% chance. (and that's pretty low)

I'd rather keep Osi than Tuck. At least Osi can get to the QB. Tuck can't do that or stop the run and we pay him starter money..

All Osi is anymore is a situational pass rusher. He's not a complete DE by any stretch.

I totally agree with you on this --- I have been saying that for 2 seasons now -- Tucks Neck injury is really impeding his play on the field

Um Morehead -- If you read my first post I had already said that. So I ask you whats your point here

Our pass rush specialist racked up a grand total of 6 sacks last season, why keep him on the team when he is a liability in run defense and now late in his career can no longer be effective rushing the passer?

I wasn't responding to you in this particular post.
Where you and I might disagree is the value to our team and likelihood that Osi can come back.
Osi can't really help us anymore. We need to get JPP at RDE and leave him there. Osi has actually hurt JPP's productivity.

He'll probably get a job with a team like Atlanta or NE. But he'll probably also be a disappointment wherever he goes as well.

I agree I think he will be signed somewhere, but man does he have delusions of grandeur when it comes to his ability. I can't believe he came out and said he is going to be defensive player of the year, and that he will break Strays record.

We can use Osi like the Parcells used George Martin in 86 (3rd down and passing situations). But we would have to get him cheap. Cruz speaks for himself. We need him back.

As for Cruz I hope we sign him for long term. I think it will get done before the regular season. It really does NOT matter what Osi wants, it's what his market value is, and the market has spoken loud and clear, once you reach a certain age as a pass rusher, your better days are behind you, teams do have film on every player, just to fill you in, and film does not lie.

Mara may say he wants Osi back in blue however whether he puts his money where his mouth is another story. It was great press fodder. Osi has been a very good strip sack specialist for several years. Too bad mother nature has visited the Chief and now I don't see him getting either starter money or a starting slot anywhere, non less being POY; come on Osi!

Cruz on the other hand is a very productive WR: inside or outside. Watching him leave CB's and safties holding their jocks regardless of what ther coverage or what the playcall makes my Sundays. Be that as it may, lets not forget that he has been given a HOF QB chuckin' that ball his way, which makes his job much simpler. It was so nice to have the press play up the welker/ amendola slot receiver value piece. Its helped insure that VC will be in Blue not only in'13 but for many years after that, too! If not that than we get vaue back into the team the old fashioned way: the draft. Keep it up boys in the print!

Cruz will no doubt be here next season and hopefully a few years following that! i really expect Reese to sign Cruz this year.

i mean its already a big story Cruz and his contract! just imagine what it will be going into next season if he isnt signed.

Osi is gone for good imo! the only way hes back, he agrees to the Giants offer whatever it is and i dont expect that to happen.

George Martin played 14 yrs.
Osi just finished his 9th. I don'r see him being effective for 14.
George played LDE in a 3-4. He was a much better run stopper than Osi ever was, and he didn't rush blindly upfield allowing teams to run inside or outisde of him as Osi does. Martin was very alert and savvy... which was why he lasted 14 years.
Difficult to compare, but but for people who like stats, Martin had 9 sacks to Osi's 6 sacks in his 9th year, I can't find <artin's tackles numbers.

He thinks he will be Defensive POY. Lofty goal, to be sure, considering he was never in any prior discssions... even in his best years.
He'd definitely have to break Strays record, for sure. He sure isn't going to be considered for his run stopping prowess.
It will be interesting to see where he plays, and how well.

I listen to NFL Radio and watch NFL Network religiously, and right now there appears to be little if any interest in Osi right now. He's being portrayed as a situational pass rusher, nearing the end of his career. I will not be shocked if he's back in NY with a 1 year deal.
