I think he'd make a great back up to Eli if he'd be willing to take vet min. And be back up, lol.

To old.. Unless they want to bring him in to compete with painter for the spot... I mean we know that neither Carr, painter or Matt would so us any good if Eli goes down anyway, so at this point it's just a guy to hold a clipboard.. We all know the season is over if Eli gets hurt.. They eventually need to draft his replacement and soon to allow Eli to groom and run off on him some before he retires

Can he play linebacker?

Wonder how much is his vet min... The Giants might be better off with Perriloux or an undrafted QB.

I mean, his decision making was so suspect the coaches put a helmet cam on him so they could analyze why he was making the decisions he was.

Vet min for him would be a shade under $1m, the same as Carr.

Sure, it isn't a long term solution for the back up spot, but I'd feel better with him than Carr, Perriloux, or a late round rookie.

No late-round rookies, please. We saw that with Woodson and Bomar and it wasn't pleasant.

I think Hasselbeck would be perfect. His experience would be invaluable.

Is he ready to take a back seat, though?

Totally agree. Matt is a good guy to have around and provides a lot of knowledge. He was really easy going with Jake Locker and supported him taking over the starter duties. He'd be a perfect backup for the Giants. They should make this happen.

Is he ready to take a back seat, though? That's the question. Like I said, if he'd be willing to be a back up and take vet min, then it would be a great fit.

I'm not saying that if Eli were to go down for an extended period that Hasselbeck would be able to take us to the SB, but he might actually be able to win a couple games and/or at least be competitive out there.

I agree with you Perrilloux sucks now and still has a lot to learn if he ever will. Hasselback might not accept vet min or the backup QB position either if he believes he can still start for a QB-needy team.

Just having him on the sidelines would be a boon. He's seen everything.

More than likely Curtis Painter is the backup, and you could see another QB drafted in the mid rounds.

Teams interested in Matt Hasselbeck: AZ, Buff, Chi, Cin, Cleve, Indy, NO, NYG, SF & Tampa,...and list could grow.

They'll have to if they draft a QB they truly think has a future, unlike the guys they've been stashing on the PS.

I was hoping The Sanchise.

On second thought it might make sense that Painter becomes the backup. If Eli were to ever get hurt....he'd definitely help the Giants get the best possible draft position by playing so poorly. I mean the last time he did play, the Colts got the 1st overall pick.

Win/win

God, Arizona should sign him and start him. Instant improvement.

Dont see how he will end up here. The Giants offer no playing time possibility or the most money

I think there's a much better chance of 3 qb's than the Giants ever having a rookie QB backing up Manning .....Unless we're talking several years down the road and the Giants draft a QB to be Eli's successor.

I don't think it will happen this year... this is a really weak QB class...

Well that didn't take long. Signed by the Colts (http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Hasselbeck-lands-with-Colts.html)

Great news for Andrew Luck.

Well I dont think being a backup will be a problem, considering he was a backup for Tennessee. Its a good idea for a backup tho, no doubt, as long as he comes cheap. The team has more pressing needs right now.

this is still one of my favorites, in regards to Matt Hasselback....2003 NFC Playoffs at Green Bay

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAgG9XcrDFY

My brother-in-law and I still can have a good laugh about that. I remember looking at him and asking him if he heard what I heard--"we want the ball, we're going to score"

There sure was a score when Hasselback got the ball----Al Harris taking it to the house--LOL!!!
