View Full Version : Ok..do you start Osi over JPP ( Pro Bowler ) ? Or bring in Osi as rotator to give JPP a rest?

Gonna be interesting to see what Fewell does having Osi back..JPP sounds like he doesn't mind taking the back seat ..at least in rotation. Keeping these guys fresh through out the game could be the trick we need to hammer at Romo..could get to the point that these two are rushing so effectively they draw DubCuv..and free up Tuck?...Either way..having two weapons on Pass rush, has to have Dallas very nervous rigt now.

My money is on Osi starting but who knows. Either way it doesn't matter much, both will get plenty of snaps.

No brainer. JPP plays as many downs as he is able and Osi gives him a breather every once in a while or comes in for a tackle to load up pass rushers on an obvious passing down. JPP, by his answer shows us that he is already much smarter than the media guys trying to bait him. Go Blue!

nah....Osi wont even be ready to go all out. If the Giants beat the Cowboys you will see a miraculous recovery next week.....</P>

If it were up to me, Osi would only be in on obvious passing downs.

Knowing this team however, if Osi is up to it, he'll start. (reference Baas).

i cant fathom fewell or coughlin taking jpp out of the starting line up. guys a pro bowler and a serious canidate for dpoy, you dont take guys like him out.

i suspect we'll see a lot of jpp at both de spots, osi coming in to play his usual spot, and tuck playing a bunch over the rookie guard who is replacing there injured guard.

starting will look like:

jpp canty joseph tuck

alot of snaps will look like this:

osi tuck canty/tollefson jpp

some snaps will look like this:

osi canty joseph jpp

and occasionally on passing downs it will be:

kiwi
osi tuck tollefson jpp

edit- and some snaps will look like this when jpp and tuck challenge the A gap

Jpp Tuck
osi V V tollefson
which all equals a lot of romo on the ground

Osi should only be in there when JPP really needs a play or two off. He isn't nearly as good as JPP at this point and he shouldn't be taking any snaps away from our best defensive player.

Just for the record, I'm not saying that this will be the case. Just that it should be.

I don't start any other DE over JPP. He wreaked havoc against the 'boys last time and they'll be trying to double up on him this time, allowing for others to be singled up and get free.

Why would a less than 100% Osi or Tuck start over JPP?

If they start Osi over JPP this coaching staff is more stupid than I thought..........

This is my thought.... I would like to keep the man playing like an animal in... and maybe switch TUCK and OSI out alot... and give JPP a break a bit

I agree with this. Even when he's healthy, Osi is hardly an every down player.

He is an abject liability against the run and his speed rush, go for the strip on every play mentality makes him a great long yardage specialist and situational player.

I think his days of being an every down player are done. Unfortunately that also probably hurts his trade vale

Osi plays on passing downs and an occasional breather for JPP. It will be great if JPP, Tuck, Osi and Kiwi are all lined up to pound on Romo.

It would be great to get them all out there in certain situations but JPP is a better player at this point. If it makes him feel better give Osi the start. It's just a title. I'm sure JPP will be in there most of the game.

Osi coming off his injury, never great against the run to begin with should be used as a pass rush specialist Sunday Nite. JPP took 100 snaps last week and now people want him to come off the bench? He shouls NEVER come off the field unless he is so gassed he needs a breather.

Like I said, JPP is the better player. He is also the more humble player and I think he is willing to let Osi have the title of starter if it makes him feel better and play.

Osi is gone for next year anyway so they might as well get what they can from him.

Huh? If Romo comes out on the 1st play and Jones takes it to the house because Osi over pursued, are you going to feel OK because humble JPP let Osi have his starting job back. Osi had better leave his ego at the door or he is useless to this team. Play your best players in the biggest game of the year.

If we even think about removing a guy like JPP from the game to a guy like Osi than we are complete fools and that will co-sign the firing right away...

Id rather see JPP and Osi coming off the end and have Tuck and Canty in the middle... I hate to say it, but as strong as Joseph really in portrayed, I dont hear his name called often...

getting JPP a breather now and again is not going to hurt...he won't be riding the pine in Osi's stead unless these coaches are stupid! they both play isgood news if Osi is all in and able

I don't recall that happening to them this year when he was playing. Why woul it happen now?

not a chance, listen there will be plenty of snaps for Tuck, JPP and Osi ... nobody is going to get bored on the sidelines ... Tolly will lose time, but even he will be called upon often

question i have is that Tuck has played inside very little this year and that has to be more due to injury than strategy ... if he is feeling really good ... do we start using him inside on obvious passing downs more? ... JPP has had more snaps inside than Tuck
