"With a lot of the recent talk and speculation focused on the New York Giants return game (http://www.giants101.com/2013/05/13/new-york-giants-one-of-four-remaining-teams-being-considered-by-josh-cribbs/), might there be a dark horse in the mix? During Big Blue's three-day rookie mini-camp, seventh-round pick (http://www.giants101.com/2013/04/27/new-york-giants-select-michael-cox-rb-umass/), running back Michael Cox (http://www.giants101.com/tag/michael-cox/) out of the University of Massachusetts, was among the players fielding kickoffs.

Because the drills are non-contact, it's nearly impossible to tell how valuable a player especially a rookie can be back there. However, Cox did appear relatively comfortable despite next to no return experience (two onside kick recoveries in college).

Just something to ponder on an otherwise quiet and boring mid-May day."

Very interesting, I was wondering why they picked him up in the draft. Maybe he will be our 3rd RB and our kick returner.

They will do everything they can to replace Wilson back there.

Certainly worth kicking the tires; however, don't think that he would be considered a primary guy...

They will keep looking at prospects through training camp

Jernigan should get another shot. This guy can be explosive.

I like it.... Keeps Wilson fresh and gives this kid a shot at a roster spot. He cant be much worse then what we have already after losing Hixon.

Looking for a decent alternative I'm sure. Return guys like Wilson don't come around all that often. It will be a shame if he is replaced, but understandable. (until we get stuck on the 23 yard line on every return...)
