Nicholson was good, but I don't know... Heath was spectacular in his own way.

Imagine if JPP was rushing the passer from the 3-4 OLB position. With the right guy to block in front of him, he could be unstoppable...

JPP is the Leo. Moore/Kiwi/Tracy are the joker

Lol JPP is 270 lbs. The kid is a freak sure but as a LB you need to cover somewhat. If you're pass rushing all the time as a LB then what the hell is the point? Moore had experience so there's that. We'd waste a year of JPP by doing that. No more Jokers unless we fire Fewell.

Giants haven't used jokers much recently. I expect to have a joker in the base defense next season. Giants have the perfect personnel to run the 4-3 under

I'm expecting it too. It seems a lot of the guys they are bringing in have played the position in college. Plus, you have guys like Muasau who was originally with the Giants last year, who played Bandit at Georgia State.

This might be the Gants' contribution to an evolving NFL.

I say move him to tight end. He can be the JPP of tight ends.

Does JPP even drop back enough outside of a TE chip to warrant the Leo/Elephant?

If they were to run an Under base and designate one, I'd rather keep him at LE and use either Tracy or Kiwi there.

If it ain't broken, don't make it a Joker

He's getting doubled and tripled at the line... having a guy in front of him to take up blockers would give him a lot more to work with when rushing. Of course, we would need said guy on the team to make it work (which we don't), so it wouldn't happen this season.

As for coverage, I think he has the physical skills to do it (especially so from his time playing basketball in college), it would just be about learning the coverage schemes. That added weight would come in handy in covering a TE, and we all know that he has unusual speed and motor for someone of his weight.

Of course, it would be a moot point if anyone else on our DL could beat one-on-one matchups. Teams can afford to triple JPP when Tuck is just disappearing on plays, not to mention the quick releases due to webster and/or hosley getting burned all the time. The fact that JPP played the run (where release time doesn't factor into it) really well tells me he's actually played fairly well, it's the folks around him that are falling off...

No. He is a Defensive End. Lets not ruin his career and do him the disservice we did to Mathias Kiwanuka.

JPP has strength and speed. Great for and End. He does not have the kind of lateral quickness needed to be a LB or LB-hybrid. He just doesn't have the footwork for it. Rather than screw with JPP (who has just barely learned the game himself), we need to continue to find other D-linemen who can beat the one-on-ones JPP affords them. If it was easy, everyone would have a JPP on one end and a Strahan on the other.

You can scheme to get him mostly 1 on 1 with a tackle. Don't need to move him to linebacker to do that

we do have a package where JPP is the joker tho. He and Tuck will both line up over the C from a standing position side by side. Its one of our A gap blitzes. And yes, JPP actually has dropped off into coverage from that position. It actually surprised me to see how he back pedaled and used some good instincts imo. he'd be fluid if it wasnt for his 2 left feet at times. Sometimes his feet get caught on each other or just be kinda awkward.

Nope. He is a pretty good end. Keep him where he is and just get him to commit to keep getting better at getting to the QB. Don't make him think, that doesn't seem like his strong suit.

JPP doesnt have the smarts IMO to be a Joker. He has to read and react and be disciplined.....

That must drive an OC crazy.........another of Fewell's "masterpieces"
