Justin Tuck to New York Giants’ Rookies: “You’re Going to Work Your *** Off” May 19th, 2013 at 11:30 AM
By Dan BentonNew York (http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york/) Giants defensive captain Justin Tuck (http://www.giants101.com/tag/justin-tuck/) has vowed to return to his All Pro level in 2013 (http://www.giants101.com/2013/01/23/new-york-giants-justin-tuck-vows-to-return-to-all-pro-level-in-2013/) and it has already become abundantly clear that he's not just blowing smoke. He's worked relentlessly throughout the offseason and expects that to wear off on his teammates and the new rookies.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/-k-1YMd9_5w0/UONIijVbVMI/AAAAAAABVHE/6CMc17QPcjA/Flickr-3994376734.jpg (http://www.wylio.com/credits/flickr/3994376734)
Shortly after being drafted in the third-round of the 2013 NFL Draft (http://www.giants101.com/tag/2013-nfl-draft/), Damontre Moore (http://www.giants101.com/tag/damontre-moore/) was promptly met with a note from Tuck that simply read "hope you are ready to work (http://www.giants101.com/2013/05/11/new-york-giants-justin-tuck-leaves-note-for-damontre-moore-get-ready-to-work/)."
The message wasn't meant as a joke or a gag; Tuck is extremely serious about the upcoming season and he expects the rookies, who he feels are the weak link right now, to familiarize themselves with the team, the schemes and their jobs (http://www.giants101.com/2013/05/19/justin-tuck-to-new-york-giants-rookies-youre-going-to-work-our-***-off/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+giants101+(Giants+101)#). On top of that, he expects them to work just as hard as he's working (http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/giants/post/_/id/25551/moore-ready-to-heed-tucks-message).
"They need to know that this year has to be our best year," Tuck said. "I don’t want to call them our weakest link but they are the new guys so they don’t know our system, how we get down. So right now they are our weakest link and you are only as strong as your weakest link."

Moore was quick to admit that his practice habits were less than stellar (http://www.giants101.com/2013/04/27/new-york-giants-damontre-moore-i-just-want-to-come-in-closed-mouth-and-open-minded/), but Tuck's note made it immediately clear that will not fly in New York (http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york/). Accordingly, Moore has vowed to make his weakness a strength — something that will make Tuck and head coach Tom Coughlin (http://www.giants101.com/tag/tom-coughlin/) very happy people.
Of course, this hard work has less to do with hazing rookies than it does getting back to where Tuck feels the Giants need to be.
"I want those guys to come in with the attitude knowing that this year is all about working," Tuck said. "It is not about what we have done or haven’t done. It is a brand new year and instill in them early that this team is going to work our *** off to get back to where we feel we should be — a consistent football (http://www.giants101.com/tag/football/) team that makes the playoffs and wins the last game."

The motivation, determination and projected grind have not scared off any of the rookies, who have all agreed with Tuck, claiming they're ready for a long summer.

So, will Tuck not be gasping for air in the 2nd half of games now on the sidelines chewing his mouth peice? Put your money where your mouth is Tuck, not sure our rookies were the weakest link last year...

Tuck said last off-season he did some things differently, and didn't train as hard in the off-season as he did in years past. This off-season he's been training like crazy and living in the weight room according to reports and his twitter. I hope he regains his form and has a great year

Oh no! Is this Tuck talking to much again?Talk is cheap, play the games JT. I can take no more than 15 threads on the same general topic before the top of my head blows off. Enough!

JT needs to stop getting drawn into this stuff and focus on results, not yammer.

Seriously, what did he say that was so wrong? No one could answer it in the last thread.

So what you are saying is that players should just not talk AT ALL. Wow! If this board is a little slow now imagine how it would be if they didn't speak at all. Seems that the rookie didn't mind what Tuck had to say and even admitted he needed to practice harder. Seems all that Tuck did was act like a team leader. He didn't trash talk. He didn't say he played well last year. He didn't make any excuses. Play the game? It's the off season. So again, what did he do wrong? Or do you think he is not trying to get ready for next season?

he knows he played like crap last season and has said such, and vows to be back to his old form, and he is bringing the rookies with him. hope this does the trick for all. giants will be a real force then! imagine if all our veterans gets stay healthy and our rookies have break out seasons, imagine the canrnage we will inflict ?!

I think its funny how a guy has a bad year and people hold it against him, yet when discussing prior success its last year doesn't matter. I for one like that Tuck is coming out and setting the expectation of what this year is going to be about. As a leader this is what you are suppose to do, set the expectation then the example.

i think after a medium season last year..this year the giantes will go all the way. the only team that can stop them i think this year will be the flacons that are almost a sure thing

I think Tuck has earned the right to comment. But if you would prefer him to not say anything, go tell him. As far enough threads on the subject, why do you bother looking at them if they are just going to get you riled up?

i dont understand you guys. You bash him when he doesnt speak up ? why he is a captain. then he steps up acts like one then its "talk is cheap play the game JT" now i have been very vocal on tucks decline in production but i think im in the minority when i say he is going to have a bounce back year. it all started in march when he tweeted that he was at statdium working out and asked his teamates who was joining him. now thats a leader ive always liked tuck and i think he will step it up this year and be productive which will help jpp lb's and db's

Maybe he will come in a bit lighter and in top shape like Strahan did his last year. He shouldn't have to play as much DT since we loaded up this offseason. I'm excited to see how Tuck looks this year.

I have faith in Tuck's words. He's not the type of player to blow smoke about his work ethic. You can tell he lost a little bit of the hunger more than a year ago when he was getting nothing done on the defensive end. Can't have a great season without a great off-season, and I think he learned that the difficult way.
