View Full Version : 9 wins. Over or under?

9 wins is what Vegas currently has the Giants getting this year. Bovada has the regular season win over/unders up on their site (see link). Interestingly, they have the Skins at 8.5, the Cowboys at 8.5, and the Eagles at 7, hence favoring us to take the division (albeit by a slim margin).

So do you think the Giants win over, under or equal to 9 wins this year? I personally think that with Nicks back and healthy the offense will return to its 2011 form, and although the schedule isn't exactly easy, it's not as bad last year. My vote is over.

I want to say over, but this team with it's second half collapse always disappoints.

True, but they've also had brutal schedules down the stretch in recent years, and that is part of the reason for that trend. This year the back-end of the schedule isn't that bad. Yes, they have games against the Packers and Seahawks, but those are both home games at least, so you have to think they have a good shot to at least split those two games. The rest of the second half of their schedule is pretty manageable. Oakland, SD, two against Washington, Dallas, and Detroit. There is no excuse to collapse against those teams, and hopefully this year they won't.

I think this team will be hungry this year. Failing to make the playoffs in a title defense year was a bitter pill to swallow. Plus you have key guys playing for contracts this year, and that usually lights a fire.

10-6 is my prediction.

i say over. i see 10 or 11 wins looking at the schedule. it's always hard to predict though because in the NFL teams that were good 1 year can be bad the next and vice versa. looking at the schedule you might count a win or loss expecting a team to be something they may not end up being when we face them.

I want to say over, but this team with it's second half collapse always disappoints.I don't think one year has anything to do with the next in terms of "second half collapses." We have different personnel, different injury situation and totally different strength of schedule. That is a long way for me to say............OVER but not by much. lol

First, this is a site for Giants fans and not overloaded with critics, cynics, trolls or fools (well maybe lol).
You should reasonably expect an outpouring of irrational support here, that is what fans do.
Second, you take a "scientific" sampling of 4, yes 4 replies to take a shot at the faithful here.
Vegas, by the way would set the over under at 50/50 which means 2 over and 2 under.
So, your thoughtful insight leads you to take your shot at us based on 1, yes 1 response over the norm.
On this site we call that brilliance!

Jomo,

I'm not a troll, and I have zero affiliation with Bovada. Born and bred New Yorker and a diehard Giant fan since the early 80s. I also voted for the over myself, and will probably bet it with real money. I was just making a quip about the lack of doubters on this site, which is a good thing. You ought to relax a little.

I always want to be optimistic and say 10-11-12 wins but I never know what to expect with the Giants to be honest. I'll say over at 10 wins.

Agreed, but with all the cynics on the board I'll take 12-4.... hell 13-3. Not many will take that.

Depends on Eli, and the WR situation, if everyone plays like they should, super bowl bound, if not.. this defence isn't taking us anywhere.

2012: 9-7
2011: 9-7
2010: 10-6
2009: 8-8
2008: 12-4
2007: 10-6
2006: 8-8
2005: 11-5

A 9-7 record is a 56.25% win percentage
Total 2005-2012: 77-51 (60.16%)

Based on past statistics, I'll take the over. 8-9 wins seems to actually be our LOW point.

i agree. see the potential for 13 wins tooAt least on paper we have the easist schedule in several years. That should help. 13 wins is rarified air in the NFC East and is only possible if we get much better in both trenches.

Regular season records mean nothing if you dont make the post season. 8, 9, 10.....doesn't matter, just get in.

Doesn't matter how many wins. We've see a lot of 13 win teams with the first round bye make early exits. We've helped a few of them out of the playoffs. So like GMen2005 mentioned above, they just need to get in and then let Eli do his thing. We don't need 13 wins. That doesn't get you a SB
