my bad... forgot the Giants lost to the Rams the year I was thinking of. Hostetler beat Montana in 1990.

You know what you're right I knew that didn't sound right when I heard it on the radio... Forgot who said it thanks for the clarification... That's what I appreciate about these boards so many knowledgeable fans.

Only one problem...after thinking about it....When they would have met in 90 Hoss was the OB....so I do not think that one does work

No the interesting fact is correct just not complete. Its the first time two superbowl mvps will play while having already received the award. Peyton vs brady, both were not sb mvps when they faced. They haven't even met in the playoffs since peyton won his.

Now im not sure if this is just exclusively for qbs, but even if it is, its still an interesting fact.

This thread made me look back on some great years of football. I was wrong but man was this sport awesome in the 80's and 90's

I was also thinking Staubach and Terry Bradshaw must have been Super Bowl MVP's... but Bradshaw beat Staubach and became MVP for the first time and then Staubach retired. I also thought Aikman vs Young... but it never happened. after Young won the MVP...interesting stuff there..

... and now it could happen two weeks in a row.

And if the Saints beat the 49ers and the Patriots win the AFC championship then it will happen 3 weeks in a row (discounting the bye week)
