View Full Version : We haven't played a team yet with a good RB...

Yea, we played ATL but Turner isn't the same. Going against a healthy Frank Gore is going to change our defense. We can't just rush 4 and drop everyone else back into coverage now. We need to play the run. Lets see what Fewell is going to draw up.

No worries. Gore hasn't done anything the last month. The 49ers fooled us once but they wont this week.

Lesean McCoy (2x), Fred Jackson, Beanie Wells, Frank Gore...

Not sure why you think they haven't faced good RB's.

I thought that the Egals and the Falcons have a good rb.

I'm talking about in the playoffs. I'm talking about how it is going to effect our secondary.

We don't get to pick who we face in the playoffs. In other words, its not our fault that GB is so pass oriented. I see no reason to think Gore will run wild. He didn't last time and the defense has been playing much better of late.

Turner had a big year and the Giants game plan was to stop him and their big O-line which they did.

I'm sure they're planning on stopping Gore first much like the Falcons game...The Falcons have a much better WR corps than the 9ers so I'm thinking they will have a little more flexibility in their coverage than in the Falcons game and can afford a QB spy to contain Alex Smith from scrambling.

Who cares about a team with a good RB. Gints already proved both O-Line and D-Line are tough. It's amazin, but the Giants have the most balanced team out of the last 4.

And Gints LBs are playing out of their minds. Go figure.

Turner was #3 in the NFL, and Atlanta admitted they were trying to run the ball, what more do you want? Turner was a non-factor.

He was hurt and only had 6 carries

In the first game, I though Harbaugh outcoached the Giants. One way he did it was to pass on first down - going against the SF tendency. I believe he passed on 3/4 of the first downs in the game. He had the Giants off kilter. This may have been because Gore was hurt.

I suspect they will try to establish the run this time because they need to try and possess the ball and keep the Giants possessions down.

Playing good run defense is mostly about attitude. The Giants lacked focus when they played against the guy from Seattle. He killed them. The Cowboys ran well in the first game, but Dallas has a lot more in terms of weapons than SF. The Giants did a good job in the second game against McCoy until late when he cracked off a stat padder.

I think the focus is there now - a la Turner - and so I think they will do well in stopping the run.

So it will be interesting with him healthy. Will they run on first down?

Didn't we shut down Gore last time? Don't remember, just asking.

He was hurt and did not do anything. They had a backup who got some yardage late - I remember a 20 yard run for a TD, I think.

it looks to me like .they passed on 80% of first downs. Every run was minimal with Gore until he got hurt.

Looking through the Saints game, Gore had runs of 15 , 9 , and of course the 42 yarder. He had 89 yards for the game on 13 carries. If you take those 3 runs out, his average looks pretty average. If we don't give up the big play, they won't be able to use him as effectively.
