Hello all,
I'm not sure if this is the section to be posting this, so mods, feel free to move/delete this thread if it's in the wrong spot.

I just wanted to give y'all a heads up about what to expect at Candlestick should you arrive wearing your NYG gear. First off, I fully expected to be shouted at, smack-talked to, harassed, and even pelted with a peanut or two. It's a playoff game and I was in hostile territory representing the opposing team; I get it.

However, there was hate behind the fans' actions. They wanted to fight. There was no line they wouldn't cross. There is a huge presence of gangster thugs. I spoke to several women who were groped and fondled while standing in line for refreshments. Here is a brief grocery list of things that my group of 5 experienced:

-Stepping off the bus, we were surrounded by 7-10 SF fans who got within 1'' of our faces, yelling like they were drill sergeants. Saying things like "Suck my ****" to my 57 year old mother as well as my girlfriend.
-Slapped on the side of the head from behind prior to entering the stadium. An usher saw this and laughed, saying we might want to leave before we get stabbed
-My mother had a beer poured on her head from behind while in our seats.
-I was shoved INTO a urinal from behind while relieving myself at halftime
-Girlfriend was groped several times while in line for refreshments
-Thug took out his genitals and waved them at my mother after the game.
-Asked 2 cops for any help they could provide getting us to our bus, as were were threatened by a group of fans saying they were going to jump us - they told us that we were on our own and recommended running.
***edit by author*** The cops were watching the final winning drive at the time on the TV's. We were at the gate, wanting to be the 1st ones out. They were pre-occupied by the intense action going on. One officer said "**** you on your own, final drive. Start runnin if you win"

There was minimal usher/security presence within the seating area of the stadium, so do not expect to have any security watching your area. Ushers that we did see were mostly female, who wouldn't be able to stop any physical altercation should it have ensued.

I would STRONGLY advise against walking into the tailgating area. This is where it was the most hostile. I was shoved and slapped several times here. Retaliating was out of the question (I am 6' 2'', 215 lbs), as there were huge groups looking for fights.

Good luck, keep your heads down, and if you are there with your girl or mother, STAY NEXT TO THEM AT ALL TIMES. Do not let them go to the bathroom or concession stands alone. These classless thugs are just that - classless.

Good luck, and GO NYG!

So they are asdisgraceful as Eagles fans. Must say I thought Philly fans were the lowest of the low but it looks like 49er fans are at the very least tied with Philly fans for classlessness.

I am sorry to hear that. I have only been to one Giants game but I was right next to a family of Falcons fans and the only time anyone ever bothered them was when the left the game early saying things like "Aww what happened" or "It's a long trip home now."

I was actually debating buying tickets on ebay for the game, but I don't want to deal with that. Thanks for letting us know that there is a lot of scum there.

Sorry to hear about that bro that's a terrible story. I'm not surprised to be honest from what I have heard. That kind of stuff would never happen at Giants Stadium.

We will heckle you to death but that's mostly as far as it goes. Sure, we have those fans who drank a 1/5 of whiskey before the game, are loud, obnoxious or maybe even looking for a fight, but that's the minimal.

Absolutely deplorable treatment. However, I wonder if Niner fans treat every opponent's fans that way or just because it was the Saints.

Granted, I'm not condoning that treatment at all, but I'm sure a lot of people got sick of all the fawning over the Saints and Brees whereas the Giants fly under the radar, isn't all fancy-schmancy with needs for stats and standings and has an 'all business' approach. To that, I blame the media for putting Brees and the Saints on some glorified pedestal which could've just upped the Niner fan ire.

Again, not condoning what they did by a longshot, but I kinda look at how Giants fans would react to say.....the Eagles fans as opposed to Falcons fans. With the Eagles, it's heated and hated. With the Falcons - they don't bother us.

That sucks. I live in DC and deal with the Redskins fans at Fedex. They are obnoxious but never threatening. I have taken my girl to a few games and I don't worry about our safety.</P>

Sorry to hear that and thanks for sharing. I had read a couple of comments on SF boards that were encouraging giving Giants fans in attendance a hard time, but just took that as meaning some innocent heckling. This behavior is on a whole other plane. Ironic since Cali/SF is supposed to be the poster child for tolerance.

I for one am appalled at the 9ers treatment of your mother and girlfriend. I am sorry that you had to deal with that. If you came to Giant stadium, you would be treated well. The Giants are a classier team. From the posts here from the 9ers fans, it supports what you are saying. They act like children.

To bad, New Orlean fans are passionate about their team but really cool and nice fans for the most part. BTW I lived in NO for 2 years "where ya at:"

I bet the thugs present weren't around when the stunk. Shoudn't they be Raider fans?

I suppose you don't have to believe me. Honestly, I have a lot better things to do (like earning money to replenish the coffers after that expensive weekend, haha), however this is something that I feel people should be aware of because it concerns safety.

I would hate to see harm come to anyone because they weren't aware of just how bad it is. If I can give someone the heads up, and if it can maybe have an effect that prevents harm coming to them, then it's worth it.

Thank you all for your kind words and condolences - It's good to know that this behavior is looked down upon on the whole. It was my first game away from the dome, so it was a little shocking to say the least.

I am now an anti 49er fan - for more than just sports reasons. It's personal now!!

The cops didn't help because the 9ers were about to begin their game winning drive and they were watching it on the TV. We wanted to be at the exit when the game ended to avoid confrontation.

Sorry to hear about you terrible experience but honestly I was at the game also (giants fan living in sf) and tailgated and I didn't see any of that. Just some good natured taunting...even saw some saints fans get invited over for some shots.
Must have been a bad bunch of people you ran into unfortunately. I've been to candlestick a bunch of times and to me it has been no worse and probably better than most stadiums for visiting fans.
Now Oakland...that's a whole different story...

Doesnt surprise me one bit man. Their fans are garbage. The brian stow incident happened at dodger stadium but he is a sf giant fan. But yes the security there is the worse ive ever seen and their all old men and women. I went week 2 for the cowboys game didnt face too many priblems but we also took over their stadium. Ive heard plenty of stories though from candlestick and att park. My sister in law had her seat stolen one time by a drunk sf giants fan refused to give it back and security wouldnt do anything. She couldnt get her seat back until the drunk idiot threw up in her seat and decided to leave.
Sorry to hear about what happened that should never happen. I just ask for giants fans goin to the game to be careful make sure you have a good exit being that stadium is so old and the walkways are so small its hard to get out. Even though there were so many of us cowboys fans there i still kept my head on a swivel.

Cool story bro. Proof? maybe some pics of you there? This story is such B.S. I'm sensing a bitter saints fan trying to make SF look bad. You giants fans seriously believe someone would TAKE OUT THEIR GENITALS and wave them at an elderly woman? That won't even happen in Philly. And Usher laughed and said to leave before u get stabbed? LOL. Get the fck lost troll. Get over the loss already you aint fan.

Unfortunately, you have to expect that going in to an opposing teams field. Now, to say a cop laughed and didn't help you and an usher saying hope you don't get stabbed is a little ridiculous, especially with what happened in the preseason game. Sports gets people heated, just asked the Saints fan who shot two 49ers fans in Atlanta. I am a Niner fan and went to the Baltimore game on Thanksgiving. I got heckled, taunted, etc. but you have to go in expecting that. I actually had fun getting into it with the other fans. You are going to get some bad apples at any place you go to. I just think that some of those things you mentioned are a bit out there.

I have lived in CA about 10 years and I can tell you being an east coast transplant, CA is not what it cracked up to be. Essentially the entire state is living on wellfare and has been over run with degenearte and their families looking for the "best" handout and CA offers is on a silver platter. I digress....

Dennis Miller said it best, "CA is a state of losers run by losers.." and so right he is. I ask you directly about the type and background of the typical fan in Candlestick as being lower class, probably with a boat-load of illegitimate kids, the whole family travel by Honda Civic....tattood with every gang -sign and drinking a 40 of Old English?? You get my drift?

The weather here is great but the collective class of its citizens (sorry about the stereotype, but its true) is not. Anyone considering going to Candlestick, save the $350 and watch it on TV, I promise you it will be a better experience

I joined just to comment on this post... I was born in SF, live in Silicon Valley and am a lifelong Niner fan. That kind of BS is NOT indicative of Niner fans. Sure, we have our fair share of ne'er do wells, as I think all fan bases for all sports do... But most Niner fans are cordial, kind and decent. It bothers me a little when a group of individuals act like this and then people think, well all Niner fans must be like that, and even worse, the area is like that. It's simply not true. We are really passionate right now, after years of not doing well, after years of watching Saints, Giants, Patriots, Steelers and Packers super bowls, and the intensity out here is unlike anything I've seen since the 80s. That's no excuse. But we are not all thugs. Most of us are respectful and decent, and love our team just like the Saints fans love theirs and the Giants fans love theirs. It's a damn shame you had that experience. If you had been sitting next to me, I would have said good luck and given you a cheers. The Saints are a great team and played an awesome game. Please know, those are individuals that acted like that. Human beings with shirts on. They don't represent me, my family, or the Niners.
Here's to a great game on Sunday between two great teams - and let's hope that all the mean-hearted ugly BS can be left on the side of the road, and fans can watch this game with mutual respect for their teams and each other.

That's disgusting and someone else posted a link to the Saints board with other Saint fans' similar complaints. The give away that Candlestick and their fans are garbage -- apparently there are signs saying "Mutual Respect." If you've got to put up a sign because your fans all act like out of control kids, then that says a lot.</P>

I'd love to see Harbough and the 49ers say how they love these wonderful fans of theirs. It should be brought up to them for comment. </P>

I never understood starting something with the fan of another team -- it's a game. Give me a break. I understand thatthere are garbage "fans" everywhere, but that is the mostamount of complaints that I've seen since our last game in Philly. And that's mostly verbal abuse. </P>

Had a similar experience in Philly this year. I was there with my buddies and a couple of their wives. I'm 6'6" 254 lbs. I Played rugby in college and still do recreationally, and have been doing MMA and martial arts since I was young. These ***le fans were throwing **** at me taunting me and stuff. So I turned around and pointed at 5 of them. I said "come down here and do this to my face you filth". My friends who were there with me are about my size, if not bigger. So when they wouldn't stop, all 4 of us got up and walked up the stairs towards them. Their eyes got HUGE as they saw the 4 of us walking up to them. My friend said "We aren't asking you to stop, if you don't, we are going to break you neck." The rest of the game we were treated like royalty. When the Giants won, some other drunk filthy scumbags singled out my buddy's wife as she was coming out of the bathroom. We went up to them said "is there a problem here?" They said "yeah you're in our territory and we are going to kick your ***". Needless to say, they regretted that decision. Moral to the story is, ******bags even try to mess with me. I don't understand why, but they do. And idk if there is any NYPD on these boards, but in my experience, the majority of cops are jerks, thus explaining your SF predicament.

Go on the Saints boards -- they're are similar complaints being made as this guy. I was wondering if he were actually a 49er fan trying to discourage Giants fans (which there are plenty of in California) from going to the game. Anyone considering going to Candlestick, save the $350 and watch it on TV, I promise you it will be a better experience</P>

I think that SF has some nice qualities about that still remain, but I've got to agree -- it's mostly a dump. Homelessness is encouraged. Remember what Port Authority in NYC used to be in the '80s and early '90s? SF is Port Authority City.</P>

North of SF is beautiful.</P>

Aren't they canceling the yearly Raiders vs. San Fran preseason game because of violence? This doesn't shock me, and it's sad that it doesn't.

OP should file a complaint if true.
</P>

I've been going out to California at least once a year for the past 20 years (to L.A. 9 times out of 10). Geographically it's beautiful, but that state is falling apart. SF lives off of reputation by people who either haven't been there, or only go down to Fisherman's warf. The amount of homelessness and drug addicts walking the streets is out of this world. Gangs are a serious issue. </P>

I love California and always will, but trust me -- it's living off it its past reputation.</P>

I've been to numerous Niners games and it really hasnt been bad. I went to the game in 2002. None of this happened to me.

Wish me luck guys. Going to represent BIG BLUE NATION to the fullest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been living here all my life. It's not a dump. It has dumpy areas and amazing areas... you may have to take more than a weeks vacation to see what there is. Niner fans are from all over, not just Daly City (Candlestick). They're from Half Moon Bay (Mavericks), San Jose, Santa Cruz (Eddie Vedder wrote a song about it), Palo Alto (Stanford), Mill Valley, Tiburon. And the city itself is full of great spots, like the Embarcadero or Noe Valley. We have the Fillmore, the Castro, host the Bridge School concert in Mountain View... That is Northern California and those are the Niner fans. Talk to a local. Choose your spots and don't get lost, and that goes I think for most cities.

Something to be proud to hear for all Giant fans. Found this on packerforum.com

I will say this. I was at the giants - packers game in NY this year and I was HIGHLY impressed with the class of their fans. Not once did someone give me crap or say anything derogatory. EVERY TEAM has fans who are going to act like a-holes (Some more than others...cough: Eagles etc.) just got to ignore them and respond and be kind to the ones who respect our team.

Niner Fan and Bay Area (East Bay) resident here...about the above, sorta funny, but, um, not true. Unfortunately the media has done a wonderful job of convincing a bunch of morons (such as author of above) that CA is basically LA/Hollywood and SF. </P>

Damn straight we've got more than our share of whacked hippies, thugs, illegal aliens, far-left Berkeley types, and just garden-variety weirdos. But from (far) Northern Cal, down through the San Joaquin Valley and to military-heavy San Diego County, there is a large swath of hard-working, high-tax-paying, NORMAL people. Granted, though, that base is shrinking as this state slips further into the abyss.</P>

As for the story of this Saints fan, I sorta believe it. I'm a longtime 49er STH, and at one time the stereotype of the wine &amp; cheese 49er crowd was ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Sure some of these people could be elitist-types and a pain in the ***, but most were just good people who made 49er games fun and about the most non-threatening sporting events you could ever attend. </P>

BUT, that has changed over the past 10-or-so years. The fan base is getting younger and thuggier. The crowds are still NOTHING compared to Raider games, but the flatbill-hat a-holes who say "bro" a lot are more &amp; more prevalent. Like the Raiders, I think a lot of these fools are lower down the socioeconomic ladder, so they take that game ticket as their right, their ENTITLEMENT, to act like total jackasses. And call 'em like I see 'em, but just as with Dodger Stadium, not exclusively but MOSTLY these punks are Latino, Hispanic, or whatever is the PC term de jour. They like to tailgate in big groups, give you the "I'm a badass" glare, and do their cute little gangsta/thug hand gesture, primarily the universal arms outstretched to side, fingers pointing back in toward their body, you know, the "You want a piece of me"gesture. </P>

However, with all that said, thankfully these d-bags are still the "minority" (no pun intended) at Candlestick. No doubt someone could easily end up being in a section full of losers, but it's just not happening all over the entire stadium.</P>

I just posted that for comedic effect. I go to San Fran often. I could go into why the demographics in San Fran have changed specifically, but that would be a huge research thesis (albeit I have written similar ones about cities in the US and abroad). However, the housing market crash, as you know, KILLED san fran. If you aren't a millionaire, you are scrounging for ends meet and there aren't as many millionaire's left in San Fran. lots of tough people up there. But, I would like to say that based on my experience of San Fran, It is the third gayest city as far as prevalence and openness that I've been to after Buenos Aires and Prague. There's a lot of it in NYC and it is becoming more what San Fran was (in Manhattan especially). So New York is in the top 5. So my comment was a stereotypical one to get people to laugh. Hope you learned something with this one though ;)

Hello all,
I'm not sure if this is the section to be posting this, so mods, feel free to move/delete this thread if it's in the wrong spot.

I just wanted to give y'all a heads up about what to expect at Candlestick should you arrive wearing your NYG gear.* First off, I fully expected to be shouted at, smack-talked to, harassed, and even pelted with a peanut or two.* It's a playoff game and I was in hostile territory representing the opposing team;* I get it.*

However, there was hate behind the fans' actions.* They wanted to fight.* There was no line they wouldn't cross.* There is a huge presence of gangster thugs.* I spoke to several women who were groped and fondled while standing in line for refreshments.* Here is a brief grocery list of things that my group of 5 experienced:

-Stepping off the bus, we were surrounded by 7-10 SF fans who got within 1'' of our faces, yelling like they were drill sergeants.* Saying things like "Suck my ****" to my 57 year old mother as well as my girlfriend.*
-Slapped on the side of the head from behind prior to entering the stadium.* An usher saw this and laughed, saying we might want to leave before we get stabbed
-My mother had a beer poured on her head from behind while in our seats.
-I was shoved INTO a urinal from behind while relieving myself at halftime

Good luck, and GO NYG!

Then we continued to play dirty through the entire game.
Now you weren't treated like you wanted to be.

Giants fans have been to our Stadium earlier this year.... I didn't see complaints from any other teams..

Weird that the Childish Saints Bandwagon-eers are the ones whining.

Here's to a great game on Sunday between two great teams - and let's hope that all the mean-hearted ugly BS can be left on the side of the road, and fans can watch this game with mutual respect for their teams and each other.
<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: gray;"></span>

Which is why the only instance of a fan being shot at a NFL game happened in San Fran right?

Pretty sure two Niner fans were shot after leaving a bar in New Orleans this week.

This has happened in many sports...
Not to mention we were playing the Raiders.

So who's to say what actually happened in that encounter.

Raider fans are worse than Eagles fans.

This thread is a joke from multiple sides. It is a joke that 49er fans would treat anybody so badly. But the responses are also a joke.

I lived in NY for years, coming from CA. To say that people in SF are trashy and low class is complete bull****. I loved NY to death.... I still do. But....I saw an old man fall down in the street and not one person stop to help him. I had to run across traffic to come to his aid. I used to work at the ESPN Zone. I saw a Giants fan break a mug over a guys head and took off half his ear. Not to mention countless other altercations. I saw a mugging and chased down the guy who stole the woman's purse. And yes... at a Giants game a couple seasons ago, my friend was there (Eagles fan) and his buddy got punched in the face. I have plenty of friends, and only a couple who are actual 49er fans,
who have gone to the Bay Area for football and baseball games and have
had nothing but great things to say about the city and the people at the
games.

After all of these things I still don't judge the entire state of NY from some bad **** I saw. No way... I LOVE NY still. Give me a break. You guys sound like a bunch of ignorant kids. What happened to the Saints fans is bull**** and I would not have watched it happen, being a 49er fan. But to judge an entire state off the actions of few is a joke. Get off of your high horses.

Umm interesting. Most of the comments are telling NOLA that we are sorry to hear of his/family treatment. Your point about there are always bad apples and citing NY examples you witnessed misses the mark completely.

The point of the OP was to be on guard if you are going SF for the game. If what he said is spot on one should be very catious. The west coast sport venues have generated some of the worst fan treatment storys in recen years, i.e. LA Dodger fans put in coma, SF-Oak cancelling yearly exhibtions game.

You missed the whole point Bro and this has nothing to do with NY .

It's ashame if this really happened, though I have a hard time believing that another human would treat an elderly woman that way.

I pray that no one talks that way to some ol' Brooklyn boys mother at the game, because a good ol' fashioned NY style beat down would be on tap.

I have a hard time believing that anyone who could afford 49er playoff tix would engage in that sort of thuggery.

Sounds like the type of fan you'd see at an Oakland Raider exhibition game.

I always figured 49er fans were pretty cosmopolitan, like alot of Giants fans.

I just read that forum.....wow, that's pretty lame. Sounds like there is a pretty bad element within the 49er fan base.

Hello all,
I'm not sure if this is the section to be posting this, so mods, feel free to move/delete this thread if it's in the wrong spot.

I am a Giants fan in the bay area. I go to every game when the Giants make it out this way since the 90's. Of course the 9er fans have some thug fans, doesn't every team?

I wear my gear to every game. I have never seen the stuff the OP is talking about. Of course, if you go around looking for trouble, you will find some. Just be respectful. If the Giants end up losing, just leave and tell everyone "good game". If you want to taunt and cheer in their face, there is obviously a greater chance of something bad happening. I wouldn't be too worried to be honest, especially at a NFCCG where tickets are going to be quite expensive.

Sorry you had to go thru that. They sound just as sub-human as Browns fans. I went to the 08 GMEN V BROWNS game, and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Heckling is one thing. Physically threatening is another.

And what does Roger Goodell do about it? NOTHING. Teams who allow their fanbase to act like animals should be subject to disciplinary action by the league. Going to a game is supposed to be fun. You should not have to fear getting your *** kicked or killed at a game.

Dan

They sound just as sub-human as Browns fans.

This is the thing here...you have to accept the conclusion - unseen, based on this one guy's word - that there are a majority of 49er fans and even POLICE that are basically sub-human. This is what you call "operating in bad faith".

Frankly I'm not sure how anyone could believe this account. If the poster had said this happened in the worst part of Iraq I would have had a hard time believing it - because humans don't generally exhibit sub-human tendencies. The idea that they'd do it in packs, in a very affluent playoff crowd......just about totally unbelievable. This is either someone who was so paranoid they were sensing more hostility than there really was, or a lot of this stuff was invented.

Lol at the police telling him to run. I grew up in the Bay Area and he is full b.s. Yes, there are fans that are going to taunt, just like at any stadium, but this story is ridiculous. Saints fans hurt about their loss have been making ALL kinds of crazy accusations.

As for the stadium being built in Santa Clara, there is no room in SF. The only place they could have built it was Hunters Point. Not a very desirable place. SF has traffic and parking issues. Santa Clara is the viable solution and our training camp/headquarters is already there. Makes more sense.

All I have to say is that even though the OP apparently had a terrible time at Candlestick, it doesn't mean the entire fanbase are jerks. There are thugs there, just like there are in Oakland...but there are thugs everywhere in every NFL Stadium. Anyone who thinks this doesn't happen in New Orleans at the Superdome is just ignorant. Two 49ers fans got shot after the game by a Saints fan in Georgia. That doesn't mean I believe all Saints fans are devils. This one incident shouldn't detract yourselves from going to Candlestick. The original poster should file a complaint if the experience was that bad. On the other hand, it's a playoff game. Not surprising you might have some unsettling incidents if you are a Saints fan.

Oh and I think most of you folks shouldn't just take the OP's word and a picture of a 49ers fan giving the middle finger as definitive proof for this story. Don't like calling anyone a liar, but at the same time let's not all be gullible here. How do we know this isn't just some upset Saints fan?

Totally agree with this, IF true it could happen anywhere and everyone knows that.

I honestly do have a hard time believing it. I have been to many games at the Stick and SF being a very metropolitan City there are always lots of fans there for the opposing team.

I have NEVER wittnessed anything like this story.

Tickets were starting at $500+ for that game as well. Filled with "Gangsta Thugs" at that price? Hmmm.....

What if I went to the Ravens forum claiming I was a Broncos fan and told the same thing about the Patriots fanbase and posted a random photo of some Patriots fan doing something stupid? Think the majority of Ravens fans would buy it? Hmmm....

Seriously folks, for every knucklehead at a football game, there are going to be 500 good people. That's just how it works regardless of what fanbase it is.

i have been to different stadiums and have always been treated with respect because i have always given respect i also have season tickets to the giants and never abuse anyone unless they are completely obnoxious my take is for some reason people tend to act like buttheads when they think they are protected by their surroundings such as stadium security and would not act that way if they were in the street
my point is root for your team but don't start yelling in the home teams fans faces like a complete jerk when your team scores and you will have a great time period the end

It's a Saints forum. And the Saints just lost. What would you expect? There are going to be folks that either lie or exaggerate stories. I'm just saying that we weren't there and we don't know how truthful these claims are. Could be true, could also be false. Maybe if we had a video or something. Everyone is just taking people's word for what it is. Do you always believe whatever you read on the internet as truth?

So what if a bunch of people reported this or that? Is there a video? Are there other people corroborating a single story? Or is just a bunch of separate claims?

What you are using is a method called "Argumentum ad populum" which is a fallacious argument that concludes a proposition to be true because many or most people believe it; which alleges: "If many believe so, it is so."

Just because a bunch of people said something or claims something is the truth, doesn't mean it is the truth. 100 years go people thought folks in Salem were witches and claimed this or that. The facts are that none of us were there and just taking someone or even a group of people's words for a specific event doesn't necessarily mean it's true and or/as bad as it has claimed to be. None of us were there, that's the bottom line. And going to a Saints board where the team just lost a playoff game...you think fans aren't going to exaggerate some things? Again, do you believe everything you believe on the internet that you read? Even if it's from a group of people?

A lot of people think the world is going to end next December. You buying it?

My good friend is a Giants fan. She goes to all the home games. When you guys played Dallas in week 17, she called me afterwards to tell me how she harassed and yelled vulgar statements to Dallas fans as they were leaving the stadium. So, I guess I should assume that all of you are arrogant *******s that berate fans. Maybe I should go to everyone I know and make ridiculous statements about how classless you are because of her actions.

You can't sit here and tell me that everyone in your fan base are polite and sing Kumbaya with the opposing teams fans. There are aholes in every fan base, but they don't represent the fan base as a whole.

Your point makes no sense. Everyone knows opposing fans will get heckled at stadiums and there will be a few fights, it's the fact that there are numerous reports of borderline sexual harrassment and criminal behavior not just by drunken fans but by gang members.

Yet for all we know ALL these stories could be bogus.....

That's the thing though. You're just taking their word because you heard a few stories instead of actually have solid evidence to prove something. What about all the stories of Saints fans that didn't have problems?

My point is that every NFL stadium is filled with "stories" like these. I'm sure there have been a lot of similar things 49ers fans would say about Giants fans and how they were treated when the 49ers went there during some of the home games for the Giants. Doesn't mean if I would believe all fans of the Giants are jerks. A few incidents, whether they are true or not, aren't indicative of an entire fanbase.

And make using common sense about the situation has nothing to do with the alleged tales that we've been hearing. So I don't know where you were trying to go with that. I'm not sticking up for the entire fanbase, but I am saying the majority of the fans are okay people...just like you'll find with any other NFL team.

A Saints fan started a post indicating his family was the target of nonstop harassment by many 49er fans. At first, I was skeptical myself (read back to my first comment). But, after checking out the forum link he posted, many Saints fans had similar stories. Then, a quick internet search revealed more stories along the same lines.</P>

Is it conclusive proof? No. But I'm not looking for Bigfoot. I'll take the word of dozens of Saints fans that Candlestick has a serious fan problem.</P>

The fact that you are sticking your head in the sand over it is probably one reason the situation is now apparently out of hand.</P>

</P>

Why would so many people be making this up? </P>

It's a Saints forum. And the Saints just lost. What would you expect? There are going to be folks that either lie or exaggerate stories. I'm just saying that we weren't there and we don't know how truthful these claims are. Could be true, could also be false. Maybe if we had a video or something. Everyone is just taking people's word for what it is. Do you always believe whatever you read on the internet as truth?
</P>

One story...sure, maybe an isolated event.</P>

But look at how many people repeated borderline criminal harrassment.</P>

Funny thing is, I always thought the 49ers were a class act.....but apparently, I was wrong.</P>

I just took a giant crap... and it kinda looks like and smells like an exact replica of Candlestick park. 49ers fans are obnoxious. I want to go to this game now just so I can kick some disrespectful California ***** ***.
For now on when conducting # 2, it shall be referred to as "taking a Candlestick."

Like I told the other poster, wouldn't exactly call those people fans. Candlestick is by Hunter's Point, where there are a lot of thugs. I'm sure some of them sports 49ers and Raiders gear, but I bet a lot of them couldn't name an offensive linemen on the team. Those folks aren't fans. And your last sentence just seems to tell me that you're taking some of these isolated incidents, whether they are true or not, and using them as a springboard for an entire fanbase. At least that is the sense I'm getting here.

Either that's an elaborate hoax, or at least 20 other people described getting the same treatment.</P>

Seems like your fanbase has a high percentage of scumbags.* I realize every team has them.....but seems like your ORGANIZATION*tolerates gang bangers*wandering around the stadium intimidating people and molesting women.</P>

Your fanbase is getting a serious black eye over this.</P>

It's a Saints forum. And the Saints just lost. What would you expect? There are going to be folks that either lie or exaggerate stories. I'm just saying that we weren't there and we don't know how truthful these claims are. Could be true, could also be false. Maybe if we had a video or something. Everyone is just taking people's word for what it is. Do you always believe whatever you read on the internet as truth?
</P>

One story...sure, maybe an isolated event.</P>

But look at how many people repeated borderline criminal harrassment.</P>

Funny thing is, I always thought the 49ers were a class act.....but apparently, I was wrong.</P>

</P>

No, that's not the method I'm using.</P>

A Saints fan started a post indicating his family was the target of nonstop harassment by many 49er fans.* At first, I was skeptical myself (read back to my first comment).* But, after checking out the forum link he posted, many Saints fans had similar stories.* Then, a quick internet search revealed more stories along the same lines.</P>

Is it conclusive proof?* No.* But I'm not looking for Bigfoot.** I'll take the word of dozens of Saints fans that Candlestick has a serious fan problem.</P>

The fact that you are sticking your head in the sand over it is probably one reason the situation is now apparently out of hand.</P>

</P>

Why would so many people be making this up?* </P>

I don't think a single Giant fan had an issue up in Lambeau, and the Giants won.</P>

As for the Giants....I'm sure any visiting fan that came in looking for trouble had no problem finding it.** But no self-respecting Giants fan would hurl insults at women, or children.</P>

Seriously, can't believe you are blowing this off.....but it explains why **** is out of control over there.</P>

If I was blowing it off why would I keep discussing the issue with you? LOL right, me talking about the issue explains the alleged stories that have happened at Candlestick Park. Yes it was me, I had everything to do with it. Sure.

Why would so many people make things up? Are you really asking that question while you are browsing the internet?

What Packers are going to act rowdy when their team loses and looked bad for the majority of the game. Remember what Tony Dungy said a few years ago about the tradition of mooning the other team when they lost and left the facility?

What you said about no self-respecting Giants fan would do this or that...I could say the same thing about any 49ers fan. Anyone that brings a thug mantra is probably wearing a new NFL jersey and doesn't follow the team that closely. Wouldn't exactly call those kind of people fans.

I've already stated twice that the majority of 49ers fans are fine people. The fans that have watched the games, follow the team and not just when it's convenient, been around for a while, and aren't thugs. Those are fans. And those are the majority of people that fill Candlestick Park. I've heard stories of people having problems at the Super dome when attending as 49ers fans. Doesn't mean I believe the majority of Saints fans are terrible people. Heck, some 49ers fans just got shot by a Saints fan two days ago.
</P>

You seem like a nice guy.* And yeah, I'm sure the majority of 49er fans are decent people.* But it sounds like your venue has a serious attitude problem.* </P>

I'm basing my opinion on the testimony of dozens of Saints fans, who report stories involving not a few,*but many 49er fans.</P>

I'm not talking about*Drunk Niners Fan v. Drunk Saints Fan........seems like it was more like 8 Drunk Niners Fans v. Grandma Saints Fan.</P>

Yes well, being by Hunter's Point doesn't help. Which is why I don't go to that part of town. Doesn't matter. Candlestick will be gone soon anyways and the 49ers are moving to a more convenient stadium which is in a much better location in the bay area.

As far as Niners fans go, there are good and bad apples at EVERY stadium. I go to the games every year and have never seen any opposing fans get threatened or beat up. Yea sure, there are heckling going on but it's EXPECTED when you root for the opposing team. People are not going to roll out the red carpet for you. </P>

As far as people getting mugged, girls getting groped, and other fans getting beat up? I've never seen that before. If I did, I would certainly step in to help. </P>

There are thugs everywhere, guys. Please don't group an entire Bay Area with these hooligans. Generally, people here are kind, hard working and educated civillians. Our cities are some of most desired places in the entire world. Please, don't let this stop you from visiting.</P>

As a 49ers fan, I implore any Giants fans to not wear their Big Blue jerseys this weekend...not because I don't want to see Giants fans, but truthfully there are quite a few gang problems with some of the fair weather fans getting their hands on playoff tickets and that whole area around Hunters Point as well. It's a well-known Norteno area and they're using the 49ers colors as their gang colors, similar to how many of the South Central gangs used the Raiders' Silver and Black in the 90s. And yeah, there are security/police issues all over San Francisco - they're kind of the opposite of NYPD or LAPD. They basically don't do anything rather than arrest you for no reason.

So if you are going to wear Giants stuff...try to wear your away colors at least. A big blue jersey will stick out in more ways than one. Be safe.

If you've been going to Niner games as long as you claim then you can not honestly deny that, as I stated earlier, there IS a thug element becoming more and more prevalent at Candlestick. As with Dodger Stadium, it's mostly Hispanic 20-somethings who are causing the problems. Of course with SanFrancisco's standing as aSanctuary City, there is absolutely zero chance the 49ers, SF politicians, or SFPD would evendare broach this topic, let alone try to do something about it. I'm on the fence with this one. Part of what you're saying is true, but again we cannot group an entire race based on what a few drunken ******s do. I'm sure most of the Spanish kids are not there looking for fights and violence. It's the drunken ******s that get out of control at times. Who the hell is trying to "group an entire race"? I'm just stating the cold, hard, fact, that the meeker/older/quiter/wealthier/whiter 'Stick fan base is being replaced in good part by young Hispanic thugs. Go check out some of the huge tailgate parties, out in the dirt lots and also stadium lot...tell me what I am saying isn't true. And of course there are some "nice ones", but please, that's just putting lipstick on a pig. I'll reiterate, it's still not as bad as I've encountered at other stadiums...Oakland, Philly (Eagles AND Phils), and Dodger Stadium are worse. But the 'Stick sure as hell ain't getting better...it's getting worse. And if it weren't for the fact I'm holding out hope for the new stadium, I would give up my season tickets.

I agree with you for the most part.

Let me clarify - I haven't been to EVERY SF game for the past 20 years. I have been to every NYG @ SF game for the past 20 years.

The fan base who are "thugs" are mostly mid 20's Hispanics. I just wanted to come on here and say that I wouldn't really be scared to go to a 9ers game wearing my jersey/colors. It's really nowhere near as bad as the OP made it seem. Also as I stated earlier, hopefully this game will see a bit less of those type of fans, because tickets are getting quite pricy.

Who the hell is trying to "group an entire race"?* I'm just stating the cold, hard, fact, that the meeker/older/quiter/wealthier/whiter 'Stick fan base is being replaced in good part by young Hispanic thugs.* Go check out some of the huge tailgate parties, out in the dirt lots and also stadium lot...tell me what I am saying isn't true.* And of course there are some "nice ones", but please, that's just putting lipstick on a pig.* I'll reiterate, it's still not as bad as I've encountered at other stadiums...Oakland, Philly (Eagles AND Phils), and Dodger Stadium are worse.* But the 'Stick sure as hell ain't getting better...it's getting worse.* And if it weren't for the fact I'm holding out hope for the new stadium, I would give up my season tickets.

Well we are getting a new stadium soon, in a much nicer part of town (where im from) so hopefully people will behave better.

Honestly, you sound very angry about the mere fact that are more Mexicans attending the games now. A bit racist and over the top for me.

Holy smokes, I didn't mean to ignite a firestorm here, I really just wanted to give a heads up to people who are going to the game this weekend. I am not a 'bitter saints fan', as some have said - winning a game becomes a secondary issue when you realize that your girlfriend and mom are in danger. We just wanted to get the hell out of there and never go back.

Everything I said in the original post was true. Every word. I'm sure some had better experiences and some had worse. Prior to going, I searched around for stories on message boards so I could get an idea of what to expect. That is the reason why I detailed my story here, so that anyone who is in the position I was in last week has at least one perspective to consider.

Just search around the internet, our experience isn't unique.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere. At the very least, the women should not be groped and intimidated. I think as men, as self respecting sports fans, we should at least agree on that, and make that a priority.

Thank you for confirming what I said, that the Niner fan base is devolving into degenerates such as you. And you're Hispanic. What a surprise. And let me guess, you are one of the dip***ts in the big tailgate parties with the boom-boom cRap music and act like a bad**s because you're in a group of 100...am I pretty close there Sunshine?

It's funny how brainless, d***less wonders such as you are so hopelessly stupid and live such a sorry life that your self -worth is basically wrapped in your sh***y cars and your football team. The ironic thing is a lot of you hardly know anything about the game itself, throw like a girl, and get off on milling around in packs and trying to intimidate people. You even said it yourself, that someone should actually expect a hard time or even worse, all for the simple act of wearing the "colors" of the opposing team. Dummy, it's a game. Whether the Niners win or lose, you still have a mortgage to pay, you still have to get up the next day and go to work to support your family. Of course I'm speaking of the rhetorical "you", not the literal "you", since "you" are no doubt a d-bag POS who is chronically unemployed and gets a sore spot in his lady parts because someone might be wearing an NY Giants jersey.

Oh, one more thing Dummy, yes, the majority of SEASON TICKET HOLDERS are from the South Bay, followed by the East Bay. Gee, do ya think that might possibly be a reason why so many fans are ecstatic they're leaving the s***hole of Candlestick and heading to Santa Clara?

They either have their heads in the sand or firmly wedged in a bodily orifice.

You're right about the SF Giants crowds at AT&amp;T...you still get your garden-variety a-holes now and again, but just in general, very friendly crowds and a place I do not hesitate to take my kids. I think one reason is simple logistics: There are no big parking lots where large groups can tailgate and get s-faced prior to games. Most people are either using area parking garages or taking public transit. Also, SFG tix are pretty pricey...and with 81 homes games, sure the thugs might save up to go to a game or two, but it's not like they're ALL going to be attending to the same games. But in football, there's only 8 reg season home games...each game is more of an "event", and the various thugs who scrounge up tickets are all going to be there at the same time, many-thousand strong, getting f'd up and believing a game ticket is their "free pass" to harass and intimidate.

It seems like you must be castrated since all your concerned with is people in numbers intimidating. Why are you scared? If you were in a situation like that and tired of getting harassed why wouldn't you go for a 1 on 1? I know your complacent with the suburban lifestyle but danger might happen when you travel to the big city..anyways I'm sure if you are wearing all kinds of democratic attire and you attend a " tea party" rally I'm sure some of the same actions you speak of at niner games would happen to you but I guess its different when a Hispanic does it to you. Anyways where's the proof in numbers about east and south bay ticket holders being the majority? Did you do a poll? What are the numbers? Also if the south bay was so excited about the new stadium coming than why is it still being appealed and why are a large portion of residents in Santa Clara trying to stop it from happening?

Speaking of cesspools undoubtedly CA is the biggest cesspool of a state. Where 60% of the population live off of government handouts and ~30% of population are illegals. I mean Jesus Christ grow a pair..and for all those that think frisco is full of queers come out here thinking that and I guarantee you will have a similar short story as this guys to post in your forums..also to clear a few things up most niner fans do not come from the east or south bay don't know why one idiot said that.. and the "Brooklyn breakdown" reference I'm sure bigger small was thinking the same thing when he came to California..I don't expect my post to last to long on here due to the amount of all this pee ons that will probably report me but to give some advice first I will say if you attend a sporting event in a city and you are wearing the opponents jersey or colors..expect it not to be a care free experience..especially in san Francisco, oakland or la...so if you cant handle that or you aré afraid Breaking a fans balls is one thing, but harassing a family is another. I wouldnt expect a fool like you to understand.Forreal

I will talk smack all day to opposing fans and make them KNOW that its GIANTS STADIUM.* But going after kids and women makes you straight chocha.* ANY idiot should understand that

Football, tennis, whatever -- they're called sports and sports do not mean anything -- they're entertainment. Lighten up and leave people alone when they go to the game. it should never get to that point but obviously sometimes it does and it can happen anywhere. also its true that just cause i never saw it doesnt mean this guy didnt have a UNIQUE experience but i highly doubt men in general not just niner fans would stand by and allow that to happen if they were witnessing it. it is also hard to belive there are a slew of no fans with similar experiences since the most i saw at the game i can count on one hand, definitly not a slew. for all i know they are just carrying on the hype from the wildfire started somewhere like guess what i heard

Actually, "bro" you missed the point of my post. It had nothing to do
with the OP, or the people saying they were sorry to hear about his
experience. I was talking about the people who responded by saying how
****ty SF and the state of CA are, judging by the actions of few. So I
stated examples of how I could do the same to NY because of my own first hand encounters, but didn't because
that's ignorant to judge an entire city from a few bad apples. It has everything to do with NY when people from NY are the ones acting like their fanbase and city are perfect.

Isn't this thread about something that happened to the OP at the stadium? Not street muggings and bar fights!

It's talking about fan base, and the city. Which some people on this board decided to bring up because of an incident at a game.

Basically everything WAS gang related, and this ONLY ever happens on the pre-season battle of the bay. This has nothing to do w/ football and had everything to do w/ the local gangs.

And despite what others may think, gangs aren't going to really bother with you at a football game, unless ur asking for trouble, and again that's your problem.

You're right about that....I meant the women and children most definitely get involved in the un-civil behavior. I have never seen any sort of felonious behavior along the lines of women being sexually assaulted in the 30+ years I have been attending sporting events in the gray area. It's more about assaults and actual battery.

And you're absolutely right about low life idiots with nothing to live for...they're at every stadium

He's right about that...people give away pre-season tickets like they are worthless which ends up with a lot of "fringe" fans. Regular season tickets are much costlier and harder to get. Tickets for this game will be VERY hard to get for under $500, if you can get them at all so the riff raff you see in August won't be at the NFC Title game.

We've lost focus on the issue at hand here which is: Is the op telling the truth or is he full of it. discuss. I think he's telling the truth. I had hot dogs thrown at me in 1986 when the Giants beat them on Monday Night 21-17....but I didn't care because their rage was like music to my ears</P>

Reading some of these posts make me proud to be a NY Giant fan. I haven't gone to Meadowland 2 yet but went to One mostly every year and even though fans are given some god natured hazing ( verbally only) I've never seen anyone get hit, punched or shot as has happened in the "Stick". I live in R.I. and go to most of the pats- Giants games and although I get my share ofgood natured BSfrom the fans, nothing physical has ever happened, not even close to it. What a bunch of Mo-Mos.

People need to get their facts right. If you look closely at the fights they were between Niner fans themselves. The people shot were between Raider fans OUTSIDE of candlestick, almost a mile away. Basically everything WAS gang related, and this ONLY ever happens on the pre-season battle of the bay. This has nothing to do w/ football and had everything to do w/ the local gangs. And despite what others may think, gangs aren't going to really bother with you at a football game, unless ur asking for trouble, and again that's your problem.</P>

</P>

Oh well, WHEW, according to your expert account it was only gang-related stuff, so nothing to worry about. That's the point, over the past ~10 years the 'Stick has become more and more like O.Co., with lowlife thugs plying their trade in the parking lots and inside the stadium. </P>

They just cannot build the new stadium fast enough...hopefully leaving the craphole that is Candlestick/Hunters Point and the higher ticket prices in Santa Clara will keep the degenerates--and those who excuse their behavior--FAR AWAY.</P>

I mean I can imagine the home fans giving the visiting fans a hard time but

GROPING?

FLASHING OF GENITALIA??

But the craziest (most believable?) part of the story has to be the Cops telling the guy he "better run".

Am I a bad person for laughing at that?

Yeah but as far as GMB is concerned, there are standards and threads like this should (and probably will) be deleted.

Yes he was, but it entertained thousands and allowed others to feel superior to those throwing the snowballs while not having to decry it. So it was kind of good.

If you're suggesting that I shouldn't post in threads where I don't like what is being discussed then you are directly contradicting the last statement in your previous post.

Nevertheless, I do understand where you're coming from. However, when people say racist, sexist, homophobic, classist and threatening language on a place where I come to read about my favorite team I have and will always say something and not simply turn a blind eye.

<FONT face=Arial size=2>NOLAFan,</FONT></P>

<FONT face=Arial size=2>Sorry you had to experience that, but based on my own experience, I'm sorry to say I'm not surprised. </FONT></P>

<FONT face=Arial size=2>I'm a native NY-er, been living in SF for 8 years now. Went to the 11/13 game at Candlestick between the Giants &amp; Niners. My very first impression (aside from the "public transit" ordeal of getting there) was that the crowd generally spews HATE. Not everyone of course. But the people who set the general tone and atmosphere at Candlestick. </FONT></P>

<FONT face=Arial size=2>Luckily, none of the scathingly disparaging, curse-word ladenverbal barrages were directed at me. I think it's b/c I went with a Niners fan, and my Giants shirt only had a small blue insignia on the lower pocket. (Plus we're girls.) </FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>But to hear all the unnecessary, unprovoked vileness all around me really tarnished my experience. Honestly, I was way more perturbed by the Niners home-crowd experience than the fact that my Giants lost that game.</FONT></P>

<FONT face=Arial size=2>And let's be clear - my reaction is not b/c I'm a girly girl. My parents live in the Bronx, and I gotta a potty mouth of my own. But I don't use it like this: </FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>"Get the f*** out of here, go back to NY, you're not welcome here","You lost cuz you suck s*** and your city sucks s***" and even a reference to terrorist bombing?!?! (I can't even remember the exact quote b/c I was in such disbelief).</FONT></P>

<FONT face=Arial size=2>I understand and expect trash talk. But I'm pretty sure that is straight-up hateful language which would offend anyone. </FONT></P>

<FONT face=Arial size=2>I totally understand the passion, loyalty and zeal that football fans in particular show at live games. My cheers are pretty loud too! But there is a way to scream for your team, without making visiting fans not ever want to come back. This is where I have to point out how Giants fans reacted at the game I went to at New Giants Stadium on 10/9 - we lost to SEATTLE (that right, the SEAHAWKS). But I heard most of our fans yelling about how the Giants should have done better, why did Eli throw another interception which should have been the last-minute, winningtouchdown, give us our money back for having to watch the G-men lose to a losing team, etc. At least that's much better than spewing unbridled hate on the visitors' fans!!</FONT></P>

<FONT face=Arial size=2>So as much as I want to support my Giants live, I'm not going to back to Candlestick on Sunday - or ever.</FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT></P>

<FONT size=2>Probably a good idea...it's getting to the point where I have to actually debate whether or not to bring my kids or wife to a game. And I'm a 49er fan. As I've said, it's still not on par with what I've seen at certain other venues, but the thug element is growing at the 'Stick.</FONT></P>
