He was awesome last time the Giants were in this game. I'll never forget him phoning up WFAN after the plane landed from GB. He sounded like he'd drank way too much after the game but ripped into whoever the host was at like 1 in the morning. He was basically saying the whole station could screw itself for not believing in them. What made it great is he was basically saying what every Giants fan who'd listened in during that run was thinking except they wouldn't hang up on him. I've been a fan ever since.

Personally, I dislike rude obnoxious people. Maybe you think they're funny but it makes me sick to my stomach that he represents our beloved organization in any capacity. Hanlon is the worst Giant's rep since I can't even remember frankly. I don't believe the Giants have had a bigger idiot on their payroll.

He has to be the Anti-Christ to Wellington Mara. Everything he shunned: loudmouth, in your face, obnoxious, and a terrible choice to represent our team. He doesn't give anyone the chance to speak, and his condescending NY attitiude (relax, I'm a NY'er) has to rub people the wrong way. Besides, he is without a doubt the worlds worst Tweeter. He sends stuff 24/7, 90% of it garbage. I deleted my Twitter account after he sent a photo of a half eaten hot dog. For what reason i don't know. Giants want a cheerleader, I'd rather see Carl Banks as our official "spokesperson" and press secretary.

I honestly don't get all the anti-Pat Hanlon attitude on this board.

He's a bit defensive about outside criticism of the Giants sometimes, yes. He's THE PR GUY FOR THE GIANTS, for chrissakes. What the hell do some of you expect from him?

He's "obnoxious", he's a "D bag", he's "arrogant"?

You do realize that's how a lot of Americans who live outside of--and many of whom have never been to--New York City view "typical New Yorkers", don't you?

Are they right, in your opinion? Yes? No?

If you think they are not accurate in their opinion about New Yorkers in general, then why would your respective characterizations of Hanlon be any more accurate?

In the 4-5 years I've heard him talk about the Giants, I've never heard him ignore, omit, or gloss over legitimate criticisms of the Giants at any time those criticisms have been warranted. In fact, I have heard him often challenge reporters when they have praised an aspect of Giants' performance after a poorly played game.

But when he hears some incredibly stupid comments--like all the "Reese sucks as GM, he must go" crap seen on several threads this past summer, simply because he refused to get into a FA pissing match with the Eagles--well, he calls those "fans" out. And I've agreed with him every time he's done that.

He has a gravelly voice. How is that his fault?

He has a very dry sense of humor--evidently TOO dry for some on this board, since he often gets criticized for saying somethings that I personally find to be funny. That's his fault, too?

Here's a crazy idea. If you don't like how he talks about the Giants, DON'T LISTEN to him.

As the once-and-future-Presidential candidate formerly known as Herman Cain says--it's time (we) lighten up a little.

I love Hanlon! I've always had the impression that the Giants organization is really a family in every sense of the word. The word family is not just a novelty to this organization and Hanlon is proof of that. Never understood Giant's fans who don't like him.

id rather listen to someone scratch a chalkboard than hear that annoying man interrupt another human being. i find it very ironic that he holds a title with the word communication in it. you can see him sit there all wired up and ready to react, and you can see the dislike he has for some of the writers that go on the show. he is just unbearable. very unfortunate that we have to endure him if we want to watch that show.

I have to step in here and tell you a story about Pat Hanlon... He is a good man. Two years ago as my father was going through terrible chemo and radiation treatment for cancer, I had a thought. I thought it would really cheer my dad up if he could just get a chance to meet a NYG player. So I emailed the situation to Pat Hanlon and asked if he could help arrange that. I was just expecting a time and place where we could maybe catch a player walking to his car or something... Instead... Pat Hanlon got us field passes for the Giants-Patriots pre-season game during last years pre-season. When we got to the new stadium, we were escorted to a waiting room where there was an copy of Coach Coughlin's book that Tom signed and wrote a note wishing my father well through his treatment. My father and I were able to walk the sidelines, talk to the players and enjoy a game because of the efforts of Pat Hanlon... It was one of our most memorable Giants moments... We love this team and so does Pat.

Pat Hanlon is the man for many reasons. One example; I had an old friend heading to his 7th tour in Afghanistan who was having a tough time and needed an uplift. Pat arranged for some Giant intervention to give this guy an uplift before going back overseas. When Reese was taking crap all off season for not doing enough, Hanlon was his most vocal supporter and defender. Giant fans are tough, Giant fans want to fire a coach, GM, QB, after tough times. They need someone like Hanlon on their side defending him. Go Pat and thank you.

Pat Hanlon is a stand up guy.

Yes, he needs to switch to decaffe from time to time.

However, Pat is a great individual, and has helped many people in their careers, and he is one of the best P.R. men in the NFL.

A lot of folks may not know this, but when the GIANTS are not in the Superbowl, Pat Hanlon is asked by the NFL to come to the Superbowl, and lead the P.R. efforts the week of the Super Bowl. So he is held in very, very high regard.

Yes, I wish he would tone it down a bit, but he is a good guy.

I did read his post. In fact I beleive he posted that once before too, a while back. It is a great story but it is irrelevant to my point.

Pat Hanlon may be a great guy. In fact he prolly is.

But, his BEHAVIOR as a representative and employee of this organization is very immature and unproffessional. He engages in trash talk in public media. He belittles even other Giant fans who have differing opinions from him. He interupts EVERYONE. He yells at people for no reason. Its embarassing.

I often agree with the point he is trying to make, I just hate the was he goes about saying it. Its rude, obnoxious and often classless.

He can be Mother Teresa in his regular daily life. But as a representative of the team, his behavior is embarassing. I, for 1, stopped watching anything that he appears on. His doing 1 super nice thing for a fan doesnt erase all the other poor behavior.

I was wondering if it was posted last year again, cause it sounded familiar.

He can be more PC to a degree, and I agree with that, but as a fan in that setting it is nice when he doesn't back off and brings those points up that most of us fans would want to do/say ourselves.

I think people are over looking that fact, that in public he represents the NYG organization w/the utmost class. As tommy wrote earlier that the SB asks him to be their PR guy for the event. So it has to say something as well. As we know how the NFL is very careful in how the league is perceived.

I could care less about "being PC"

Either your definition of "in public" differs from mine, or your definition of "utmost class" differs from mine.

Twitter is "in public", in fact most of the internet is public domain. His appearances on tv have been a sight to see as well. I understand its not easy to be likable on TV, but he came across rude and immature.

This article (http://www.nysportsdigest.com/2011/08/pat-hanlon-crosses-line-with-giants-fans/)sums up my opinion of Pat.

He is STILL trash talking Rex Ryan and the Jets organization on twitter(the comment about some teams being happy to make it to the conference champs). Now, I hate the Jets as much as anyone. The difference is your not the VP of communications responsible for talking for this team. Every team has loudmouth fans, the sport wouldnt be the same without em. But, you dont want them speaking for everyone in the organization, and thats what Pat Hanlon's job desciption is basically.

Im glad we have a guy who cares and is a fan of the team and not some robot. I just want him to calm it down a bit. He kepts saying stuff like "you keep talking and we'll keep playing" but then he keeps on talking....... He said it and the team backed him up beating the Jets. Nuff said. You saw how disrespected the players and staff felt after the Jets covered our trophies up, to just name one thing that bothered them.

He had issues on twitter, and got called for it. Mistakes happen (based on emotions, since it is an emotional game), and corrected. But to say he cannot jab the Jets FO, coaching staff, as they have done to our team from day one i think is silly.

His biggest problem was over reacting to people who were slamming the team and the players (he was protecting them), but he lost his cool in that one incident and paid for it, but was the only one.

Giants online is a different beast, and imo he can improve on that at times, but I like that he calls out reporters who screw up, or don't report correctly.

Plus add what was mentioned above. Or can a guy not make a mistake or two, based on emotions? And all the good things he has done, and how he has represented the team for years is worthless?

Btw he either called a guy a cruse word worse case scenario but I believe if I remember correctly (it was something like idiot, or something to that extent (can't recall completely))
