You can buy those short term power supply outlet strips at home depot. It's a simple surge protector, but it conserves power in the event of a blackout. Not sure how long it would keep a tv on, but I was able to use a desktop for about an hour and a half after a blackout.

Tornados are very localized. If your power source gets knocked off line, a short drive to a sports bar will do it for you. Stay safe, we need all hands on deck for this one.
