Last 3 teams to lose in reg season all came back to win in the SB including giants win over Pats in 07.

However giants are one of the teams that beat a team and came back and won SB. Beat Bills 19-16 during yr and 39-20 SB in 86 season

However. Giants are best overall in rematches in wins or losses all time......

Correct me if I am wrong but in the 3 games we played against teams we beat in regular yr, we are 3-0 winning rematch in playoffs or SB everytime

And in the 7 games we played in which we lost in regular season we came back and won all the rematches so 7-0

That's 10-0 overall. Check it out if u wish!!!

We've done a lot of "firsts" this year like Patriots and Packers at home, no offensive points for Falcons, etc. Stats and trends, to me, don't play a huge part in playing the game and I am looking forward to a real good game on February.

Games we won in Reg season
Break down 1986
Beat Niners in reg season 21-17, and 1st round 49-3 so 1-0
Beat redskins in reg season twice, then won in NFCCG so 2-0
Beat Denver in reg season 19-16 and SB 39-20 so 3-0
Break down 2011
Beat Pats 24-20 in reg yr and ??? In SB

Screw history, this team represents the FUTURE.

The NY Giants are already in Brady'spretty little head.

Besides, history said no team that ranked 25th or lower on offense or defense never wins the superbowl. Well now its got to change and the Giants ranked 27th and Pats ranked 31st on D.

Championship Game history favors teams with a better than 9-7 regular season record

we've been known to buck a few trends

ALL IN!!!!!!

if theres one thing i've learned about this giants team its that "trends" as RF put it bear no relevance on how this team will perform is the trend is against them.

i do love how we're undefeated in NFCCG and 4-1 in SB tho.

That concerned me...but our best receiver and best RB didn't play either. I think Cruz has continued to improve since that game as well. I preferred the Ravens...but I think on a Neutral Field our offense in a dome will cause major matchup problems for NE. If our defense keeps playing well I really feel good about our chances.

Here's a counter to your post.

From Peter Kings MMQB column.

Super Bowl 46 will feature the third quarterback rematch in history. And history will be on the side of Eli Manning in 13 days:
QB Matchup Game 1 Game 2
Terry Bradshaw-Roger Staubach X: Steelers, 21-17 XIII: Steelers, 35-31
Troy Aikman-Jim Kelly XXVII: Cowboys, 52-17 XXVIII: Cowboys, 30-13
Eli Manning-Tom Brady XLII: Giants, 17-14 XLVI: to be determined

this game is going to come down to our defense getting to Brady..sacks..hits..knockdowns..get him out of his rythym..and o-line giving Eli to do this thing...

I dont get how the pats are favorites. The giants match up a lot better this time around. The pats are slower on offense, the giants are faster on defense. The defensive line overall is the same, linebackers are faster, secondary is faster.

Patriots secondary doesnt match up with giants receivers. The only thing concerning is wilfork. I think killdrives run n shoot will work very well if his plays stretch the field and open up bradshaws game. If the giants dont beat themselves, theyre going to kill them.

Teams that have beaten their opponent during the regular season and then faced them in the Super Bowl are 5-7.

Until yesterday no team that beat the previous year's Superbowl winner in the playoffs had ever gone on to win the following week.

Streaks are meant to be broken and this team is very good at doing just that.

Except they meant playoffs. We beat 2time champ niners in CG in 90 and won next week over Bills in SB

fellas we're talking about the superbowl

History's nice and some trends have reason, but a lot of time they're just coincidence

Our team is good enough to with this game and the better team that Sunday will win. Simple enough. Come gametime, all those trends wont mean ****, these guys are coming to play for the biggest game of their lives.

But the point of this thread was that I did not realize that the giants are unbeaten in all games (playoffs or SB) that involved a rematch with a team they played in regular season that they beat or beat them.

Since 86 they are 3-0 vs teams they beat
And 7-0 vs teams that beat them during season..

So either way the giants get it done

I was worrying about this earlier than I remembered that since NY has already broken all the other rules this year...breaking one more shouldnt be an issue.

Actually, we lost to the Bills in '90 and then beat them in the SB. However, we did beat Denver during the regular season in '86, and then beat them in the SB.

We've already done so many things "that we're not supposed to do" (beat the odds) that I wouldn't worry about it.

What do the stats say about teams playing in the Superbowl who didnt beat 1 single team with a winning record during the regular season?

You talking Pats? I think when they played the bills first time they had a winner record

That was the point of the thread. Dd u read the original posts? It showed that in games we won during regular yr all time we,are 3-0 in playoff or SB rematches later that yr.
And in games we lost during Reg yr we turned around and won all 7 of the rematches in playoffs or SB

So the bottom line is the giants don't really care if they beat you or u beat them first time out... Because when it comes to a playoff or SB rematch they always win. In fact 10-0 in all such games

miked1958

I still say that the feat is remarkable and dont know if anyother team can even come close to matching it. 10-0 in all rematch type games win/or lose the first time around is quite a feat IMO.

I just think even with almost 30 posts to this thread that most posters have not fully grasped what i was trying to point out with original first few posts
