I was signing the attendance sheet before I was about to leave the class. And the instructor told me congrats on the SF win. I said thanks. He knows as most of the instructors and students that I am a Giants fan.

He told me what a game. Then said his favorite player in the NFL right now is Eli Manning. He said he was amazing getting hit about 20 times (he was giving me the stats) and yet he was still getting up. He didn't understand why he was getting such a bad wrap. He said right off the bat the Eli is clutch I laughed & agreed. He also said that he feels Eli is already better then Peyton. I said not yet (can you believe that from an Eli "homer") He still needs 2-3 more years to get there, even though he is more clutch then peyton & brady.

He hopes we win and beat the pats and that Eli gets his 2d SB ring. He believes we will win.

You have not heard the best part either. He is an EAGLES FAN. I know because we have talked about the Giants and Eagles for a while now.

People are starting to notice it. Nice for other fans too see past the BS & the talking heads.

He said we got lucky because of the two punts. I said I agree that the first one was a screw up by the Williams and he should have backed off it. But the second one was a great play by our ST unit. Then I said. Well I don't get it. SF lead the league in turnover differential (and he actually rattled a fairly accurate number of it as well) yet they were not lucky, how many wins did they get, and how about how much it helped their offense with all those turnovers. Yet no one brings that up. He smiled, laughed, and then realized I was correct. Wished us luck.

Good times.

You've got some veeerrrry smart professors at your school. And the only reason why your professor is a nice Eagles fan is because he's not living in Philly. ;)

Mistakes are made and they are part of the game. We were experienced and mentally tough enough to avoid our own mistakes. The 4th quarter and OT both had a feeling of making less mistakes then the other team because it would probably decide the game -- which it did. The 49ers were always preaching ball security and limiting mistakes, and they were right. We played like we've been here before, and the 49ers notas much.

If we had lost the game due to those similar mistakes, everyone just would have been saying that the 49ers did their 49er-thing in producing turnovers and limiting mistakes. We do it, and it's luck. It's the same thing with Eli -- when he does well, it's just luck or the other team not executing.

i've creeped the eagles board, they have a 10 page thread on "Reid vs. Coughlin", that if you get past the homer posts (coughlin is just lucky.....and eagles are ripping people that post that), there's alot of stuff we don't necessarily notice about our Coughlin teams that they do.

But I don't quite understand why people care what others think of Eli or anyone else on our team for that matter.

We all know who made it to the Super Bowl and nothing anyone says can change that.

Just like we all know how good Eli is now. No doubt he was was seen as one of the "luckiest" players around the country. But that perception is now changing, and rightfully so.

Sports radio in Philly was priceless yesterday....They have a guy called 'the cuz' who is the biggest Phila. homer ever. Hey was cyring like a 2 year old saying how lucky the Giants were and that the Eagles never have any luck.....haha. Eli Manning sinks....yadda, yadda, yadda.

Only the people that can't stand the fact that the Giants made the superbowl called it luck. Every other person calls it a good team.

They're real problem is that they didn't spend enough during FA. And they need to trade up even more in the draft.

And they need more Dog Killers on their team. Plus, like every team, they need more cow bell.

Honestly I do not care. Because if you recall years ago I would argue that. Now I barely even touch the topic because I am tired of it. It is what it is.

But you cannot say that when you heard of people talk highly of LT saying he was the best LB and possibly player ever in the NFL you do not get some pride in it, since it is linked to your team.

It is about we, us, our when we typically talk about the teams we root for. So you want your players (at least I do, cannot stand the ones who root against their own teams players) to play well. Just like when you gave other team credit for a great qb, LB, cb. Nothing wrong with it either.

If you are trying to suck it out of them, then its an issue lol.

Hearing a respected player or coach, or a credible ex-player or coach talk highly about our guys means something to me. Fans not so much. Everyone has an opinion....

I understand the emotional attachment, but at the same type you need to separate the player from the person.

Lawrence Taylor - great player not a great person.

And who in their right mind roots against their own team's players? I've never seen that. I've seen people get angry at players, but root against them?

I do recall though disliking several players on the Giants. Ralph Brown is one. I wanted him off our team in the worst way.

Dave Brown is another. Although he seemed like an okay guy he just wasn't any good, and he's the player which prompted George Young to cut Phil Simms.

Plaxico Burress. I went from really liking Plaxico to having no feeling for the guy whatsoever. He became a faceless player for me. His success only mattered in the context of it helping the team.

There was one season during the Fassel years I think that I had a total disconnect to the team. We had a lot of "me" guys celebrating themselves while we sucked. Ralph Brown was on that team. It might have been the year that Strahan went on TV with a big *** smile on his face hours after we got knocked out of the playoffs.

But I digress...

You're not as bad as the other usual Eli nut huggers, but c'mon now.* We need separate Eli forums.* Seriously.* The Eli levels are bordering on unhealthy for some of you.
1) was beginning of the season, when most laughed at Eli saying he was elite (including members here) and I said before the 1st game of the season was played that the subject would be revisited and he would be considered Elite. I started bumping and adding to the thread around the half way point.

I had my annual predict Elis numbers. Again most thought I was crazy, but was pretty accurate. Again that was updated based on playing throughout the year.

Then just after our 1st playoff game (or just before it) I made a thread out of humor about why Most people said Eli was or couldn't be a winner.

You seem to not realize as to what I am referring to. I was referring to, going back and forth about what eli was or wasn't. And posting up stats after stat to try to prove a point, that wouldn't change many peoples mind. I stopped that a long time ago. Only on occasion may I get into that debate, or topic.

So maybe you misunderstood what I meant, or I was not clear enough. But how I defended him back in the day, was the same way I defended Toomer, Strahan,Tiki, TC and at times Shockey as well as some others. Yet I realized if all that was said, shown, and even projected especially after his first SB win, things wouldn't change people opinions and it wasn't worth my time or energy.

And yes I do post articles about Eli but as well as all others, so people can choose to read about there QB and all other players, coaches, and owners if they felt they were interested.

I actually use to do the News section years ago. Never got sticked, and Didn't feel many were interested. So eventually JerseyGiant took over the duties. Now RF has took over for her.

So I still like to share info (articles, videos) with fellow members when I come across stuff that hasn't been posted yet.

Hearing a respected player or coach, or a credible ex-player or coach talk highly about our guys means something to me.* Fans not so much.* Everyone has an opinion....

I understand the emotional attachment, but at the same type you need to separate the player from the person.

Lawrence Taylor - great player not a great person.

And who in their right mind roots against their own team's players?* I've never seen that.* I've seen people get angry at players, but root against them?

I do recall though disliking several players on the Giants.* Ralph Brown is one.* I wanted him off our team in the worst way.

Dave Brown is another.* Although he seemed like an okay guy he just wasn't any good, and he's the player which prompted George Young to cut Phil Simms.

Plaxico Burress.* I went from really liking Plaxico to having no feeling for the guy whatsoever.* He became a faceless player for me.* His success only mattered in the context of it helping the team.

There was one season during the Fassel years I think that I had a total disconnect to the team.* We had a lot of "me" guys celebrating themselves while we sucked.* Ralph Brown was on that team.* It might have been the year that Strahan went on TV with a big *** smile on his face hours after we got knocked out of the playoffs.

But I digress...

I agree about LT situation, similar to Vick but not to that extent at least. So i will support/root for the good guys, like Eli, and back off the others like Plax and LT.

If you have not seen our own fans wishing the guy get cut, get hurt just so they could have their guy play. Then you are not looking, because it doesn't happen often, but does occur.

Cool post.

I was in the last class of the day. And another instructor started to talk about the games. He was upset about the Ravens losing and obviously he wanted them to beat the Pats.

Then he got on the Turnovers, and as I said in my initial post I went into the whole turnover spiel, and he hesitantly agreed, but saw the light.

Then I asked him who will he be rooting for, and while not overly excited he wanted the Giants to win, over the Pats.

Had some people in my Complex seeing me wear my Hat, saying ah giants fan. I said sure am. I said who you guys going for he said NY. they do not want to see brady with another ring.

While many do not like NY for being NY. A lot more hate the Pats, that seems clear.

Good times.

Good times for sure.

But I don't quite understand why people care what others think of Eli or anyone else on our team for that matter.

We all know who made it to the Super Bowl and nothing anyone says can change that.*

Just like we all know how good Eli is now.* No doubt he was was seen as one of the "luckiest" players around the country.* But that perception is now changing, and rightfully so.*

Dude.* You barely touch the Eli topic?* You have 4+ posts in the first/2nd page started by yourself - about Eli.

So I still like to share info (articles, videos) with fellow members when I come across stuff that hasn't been posted yet.

lol. thats fine. i just think you need to lay off the Eli juice for a while. I think the experts said it had a narcotic like effect.

all kidding aside. go giants!

Secretly wish Eli would get hurt so that we can get another QB a shot at running the team? I don't want him to get a life threatening injury, but I would like for him to sit out a season. I have never been an Eli fan and I appreciate what he did to get a Superbowl win for us. I honestly think he is, who he will be! Also I think once another QB come and show real QB skills everyone else would feel the same as I do.

lol. Well that's just downright sick. And you know what, we had those kinds of dirt bags back in the Simms' days as well.

It just goes to show that every team has low-life's as fans. But we shouldn't ever respond to that kind of crap. They are not worth our time.
